These documentary style vids are awesome. Its a breath of fresh aire from other keyboard Yters that just do builds and sound tests. These vids actually help, as a newcomer, to understand more of the lore that's not really discussed much in ither places.
Matrix quickly became one of my favorite designers after joining the hobby. I love the design language, my boards are like functional little pieces of art. Great video! ☺
only just found out about matrix a week ago even though i've been in and out of the hobby for years lol the magic3 is the coolest board i've ever seen and i wish i could have gotten one, even though they didnt even make an ISO version anyways
When I came to the hobby in 2021. The first thing I heard online was matric being known for their coating quality. I have yet to see a matrix color/coat I didn’t like. Although the design language ain’t for me. I can still appreciate what they’re doing for the community. I actually do like the Navi tbh. FRLTKL gang for life
I purposefully avoided matrix boards because I knew I wouldn't have been able to control myself, and oh boy... seeing the newer designs I know I was right. I love your videos man!!! keep it up :)))
Lovely video! Matrix designs are certainly divisive, but they really embody an Avant-Garde approach to keyboards while maintaining functionality. I still desperately want to see what they’ve been cooking with the design they teased on Instagram which uses damped gas struts(???) to open the entire top case.
Amazing video! I’m honestly so torn over Matrix nowadays. On one hand I love where they have taken their design language and their amazing coatings but god, I wish they stopped the insane meme cut plates and PCBs as well as stuffing them full of foam. I’ve passed every GB they had run because of it.
totally off topic of matrix labs. would love to get your input on my next keyboard. narrowed it down to the odin 75, transition by swag keys, thera v2 or a frog tkl. thanks Charo.
Really digging the content!! I’d love it if they’d offer a newer board in a 65% or 75% form factor, ideally with multiple pcb options. Gotta commend them for having a bespoke design language and high build quality!
i work for a apartment complex for students.. i'm the trash guy/landscaper.. last turn someone actually tossed a Matrix Lab IM+ META Rio keyboard in one of my trash cans! man this thing weighs a ton! and it's crazy expensive.. not much information out there on this keyboard.. from what i could find they are limited editions that sell out quick.. and are custom built.. it came with some extra stuff.. like switches and Boba Fett keycaps.. crazy that they just tossed it out.. it looks brand new..
I'd suggest using an off-frame microphone instead of this one: holding it in the hand the whole time only makes it quite distracting and obnoxious. Thanks for the video! 💜
Lol he's holding a lav mic, which is typically worn so you don't have to hold a mic. Instead, he's holding it like he has one of those big news reporter mics. It's trendy on youtube for some reason, but looks so goofy and like you don't even know the tech you're using
Matrix boards are just memes now. The newer boards needs tons of modding just to make them sound decent because of the awful flex cut PCBs and skeleton plates. They are the very definition of form over function and honestly pretty terrible.
@@Charo.mp4 Yeah, I love the Matrix design. It's also sad because the 1.2og and some of the 2.0s look and feel great. But the recent boards are too reliant on just the looks and then stuffing them full of foam to get passable sound.
It's just what the current Chinese market want right now. 1.2 meme flex cut pcb, 99% air meme plate, foams, foams and lot of foams. Remember that their biggest market is actually not the international one, but their local market.
@@beelzking For sure but other Chinese designers seem to be able to design boards that work well for both markets by offering different plate and PCB options or by making other design adjustments
i find most of these keyboards and 99% of highend keyboards so boring. Charging a premium for design variations that are minor and boring, personally speaking. The last keyboard i was really impressed about the design was alice profile and the cyberboard. You can say i have bad taste, but minimalistic boards are just boring. If you gonna design something to be different, dont put some random leds and so personalized weights on the bottom, do something meaningful and that actually changes the shape and form.
contradicting yourself: the cyberboard didn't change any shape or form, it's an ordinary 75% with "random leds" on the backside, as you called them. also you're calling matrix boards "minimalistic"? lmfao they're like 15-part assemblies, absolute opposite of minimalistic

I love everything about matrix labs keyboards so much, such dream keyboards
Thanks for the video. I just got my first Matrix board and I love it so much (corsa). :)
The corsa is a great choice! Thanks dropping by
Charo, the keyboard historian!
FRL TKLS ARE INNNN I love the layout so so much
You and me both!!
Too bad Navi has fewer nav keys than a standard 65%
insane video, cant wait for my corsa to arrive
Thank you!!

For sure!! It looks super interesting
I got myself a Me, Corsa and 2.0 and I must say, MatrixLab has become the most consistent designers in the market.

Thank you!! I agree - it’ll be interesting to see how the boards sound if and when the preferences in the Chinese market are more aligned to ours
totally off topic of matrix labs. would love to get your input on my next keyboard. narrowed it down to the odin 75, transition by swag keys, thera v2 or a frog tkl. thanks Charo.
I’m a big fan of the frog but some people aren’t massively keen on the spacebar - I’ve heard VERY good things about the transition!
I have a tenet 70 and just really tempted to trade/sell it to get a Corsa. Their keyboards are quite cool.
Fun video. Now, when Graystudio? =3

Cool video, I am really liking these keyboard history videos man. How about the Matrix M6? FRL TKL before the Navi
Thanks so much! M6 was definitely one I should have included, such interesting blockers
@@Charo.mp4 no worries, still a great video!
you forgot about the matrix "tetris" FRL, great video nontheless, keep it up
Oh yeah, thank you!
Love my 2.0 add
got the noah v1 still loving it
You forgot the matrix m6. The previous iteration of the matrix Navi.
The Matrix Corsa is imo the perfect board for me, aestethically at least
unique content
Nice vid mate
Matrix boards so lit
one for the algo
Matrix Alice OMG
I do have to ask. What’s the major convenience with the wkl layout
aesthetics - you're still not losing the winkey, you can remap it elsewhere
You didn’t talk about the random badges and weight they give you
3k sooon

Been trying some new things out, will definitely keep it in mind thank you!

they always looked cool but personally not my cup of tea, still good for those taht do love it though
For sure an acquired taste!
compatible on xbox?

I got burned by this when I got my 8xv 3.0 in. I just use it at work now because I can’t get it to sound PASSABLE at home, with foam or not.
I agree, It’s a shame the newer boards don’t sound great - especially as visually I think they are some of their best
