    Hey, loved those two shots... the one with the full scale and the other with the squadron of geese.
    In the air it does look a bit bigger than what you'd expect seeing from a UMX.
    Rolls way nicer than my UMX TT.

    That was an awesome video!! Looked like so much fun flying around. Great maiden flight and video! Well done! The plane, moon and geese shots put a huge smile on my face!! All came out perfect! And great timing on the time you filmed it. Started with some light and then the lights worked perfectly as it got darker.... just really well done.
    Oh, looks like a fun plane, too!.

    Wow, that is a nice small twin-engined plane! I was lucky this summer to see a Royal Canadian Air Force Twin Otter in the Search and Rescue Yellow with Red highlights livery. It was funny. After it's flight, it taxied over to the parking area, then pulled up in front of it's parking spot and then did their after landing checklist. While they were doing this, the airshow gathered a bunch of ground workers to push the plane back into it's parking spot...but just as they were approaching the plane, the engines left the idle and powered up and the plane started backing up by itself...using it's variable pitch props to give it reverse thrust. That's an important feature when landing on non-improved short runways! Very cool!

    I haven't bought a plane in a while. Got off on a ground vehicle kick for the last couple months. Got the Grave Digger (Axial SMT10) and several WLToys 124016/7 cars (two for me, the rest for gifts). Saw this little beauty in the email today, immediately checked for a video from y'all. This will be my next RC. I have 5 or so 500mah lipos (1S, 30C, JST) that I got for the original Ultrix. I bet they'll work in this. After Christmas. :)

    OMG. Thanks so much for reviewing and flagging this one up. Had been hoping UMX were going to release an Otter. Shame it's a bit late for the Christmas list. This looks like it flies great too and has plenty of power, even though it's only on 1S. This is going to be awesome on UMX floats and maybe snow! If I can get one, planning to paint up in British Antarctic Survey orange/red colour scheme. No losing that against the snow or sky. 😎My vintage UMX Mosquito could do with updating with some modern internals like this too. Any chance of an updated version Horizon? Seasons greetings from the UK. 👋🎅

    How do you like it? I’m thinking about purchasing one. I like how it looks because it reminds me of firefighting with the aircraft in the sky. I don’t know if you seen the planes in the sky but it’s almost like Air Attack. Air attack assists with locating the fire and access points for ground crews, retardant deployment, and performs aerial reconnaissance of the overall incident.

I have the UMX Night Vapor for inside flying during Wisconsin winter. But other would be easy to fly at the school just a couple blocks from home. Instead of driving to our club field. Just a lot of advantages with these little guys.

    I don't need any more planes, but if the right one comes along, I will pull the trigger. When I got the email from HH about the UMX Twin Otter, I wanted it. Then I saw it didn't have flaps and my interest was less. When I found out there was no rudder, less interest. No steerable nosewheel...you get the picture. And I'm not a big fan of those linear servos either. It's not like the things I would expect on a sweet little flyer like this have not been done before. I'm disappointed, but I hope HH does well with this plane.

I am with you and do not need another one but will be looking and hope that it sells good for them. I have 2 of the old new stock Aero Commander and love the twin plan on 2 S, not sure why the 1 S, but all is good have a great day.

    • @TheRcSaylors
      @TheRcSaylors  Год назад

      Hey, fair feedback! I think it’s a great plane for the money. It steers really well without a steerable nose wheel because of differential thrust, and flies well without rudder for that reason too! If it didn’t, I’d definitely mention it. While I agree most planes benefit from having rudder, I’m not sure this one would. Same with flaps. I love the efficiency of this plane and the low cost batteries. Scale looks, lights, and maneuverability are where this shines. Plus the obvious, comes in one piece, binds with the press of a button. Interesting to hear your thoughts though! Thanks for watching azzir 👍😁😎⚓️

    • @chrisboone1973

      I suspect that comes down mostly to the high-mounted wings on this plane versus the low-mounted wings on the UMX A-10. But the A-10 sure does look good hanging from my low ceiling on desert camo 550 cord. :)

    • @davescott9409

      The UMX A-10 has 3S power, while this has 1S and no rudder.

    Why 1S? Why not 2S/3S like all the recent UMX? Enough power for this plane???

      More than enough, which is kinda crazy with two brushless motors. We demonstrated true vertical (though not unlimited) climb and IMO a very great flight time even in this maiden video! Horizon has hit a home run with this plane. It’s an absolute must have! Huge favor: if you do order one, please consider using our link 👍😁😎⚓️

    Wondering if the axles are long enough to take timber wheels? I fly off of a gravel road in the country. Thanks.

    What would you guys recommend for a beginner plane. I want something thats a mini/umx size. Don't have a bunch of room. And I don't want to spend a bunch of money, $250 max with battery and controller.

      I’d have to go with the Eachine mini warbirds. Just stay away from the corrisare if you have less room to fly cause it takes wider turns.

    I can't believe HH put out a multiengine plane without a rudder. Why didn't you snap roll it? Why didn't you try knife edge?

    • @StevesRC
      @StevesRC Год назад

      Probably because he is flying it to enjoy it not to see if it can "do everything" any other plane can do. Likely, he is just enjoying it for what it is. No rudder means cost reductions for the end consumer. Solving the yaw control authority problem with thrust from independent motors is very clever.

      @@StevesRC I disagree with your comments regarding differential power vs rudder and also the economy of this plane.
      You will need a radio to fly it, which is great if you have one that will bind to the spektrum receiver. Not everyone has a spektrum transmitter. Why, because they've gotten so overpriced. Also, the battery is only a 1S. You're not going to be able to fly it in much wind. Also, it's made out of EPS, not EPO, or EPP. Why doesn't HH make their planes out of EPP? Because they want to sell you parts, when you break it. At $170, I don't think it's cheap at all. Compare it to the Arrows Pioneer, at the same price. It's
      made of EPP, is about the same weight, with the recommended battery, uses a 2S battery, which is slightly cheaper, and comes with a half decent transmitter. Also, I've seen people fly it in winds over 20 mph and not crash.
      As far as differential power vs rudder goes, I'll take rudder any day. You just have better control authority, and you can do more with the plane. Even Nate mentioned it in his video. At this price I think they should have thrown in the rudder. Without rudder, I doubt you can do a snap roll or knife edge, and it's more difficult to do a hammerhead stall. Pay your money and make your choice. Rant over. I'm out.

      I would have liked to see a knife edge to show differential thrust vs. rudder especially in this UMX size aircraft. Not sure how I feel about the no rudder. If I got it, it might be for something to permanently keep floats on.

    • @davescott9409
      @davescott9409 Год назад

      @@marks7445 Differential power would work great on a float plane. This twin otter doesn't taxi real well, on differential power, because they fixed the nose wheel in a straight ahead position. They should have made it a castering nose wheel, then it would have taxied fine.
      In fact, there are several real planes that use a castering nose wheel. I used to fly a Grumman Tiger and Cirrus SR-20 & 22 that had castering nose wheels , and you'd use differential braking on the main wheels to start a turn. I also used to fly C-130s, in the USAF,
      and differential power and thrust reversing worked great on snowy or icy surfaces.
