    The Hurrier I go, The behinder I get. I LOVE IT.... I wish I could find a treasure like that. I saw that saying in a dairy barn that my brother worked at for years and I have said it for years and lived by it. Love his way of cleaning up and recycling. Thank you sir. You have made my day.

    Although It's perfectly legal to go through trash & scrap people's junk, I don't know if I have the gall to go at the edge of someone's yard and go through their trash cans. Once trash is set out on the curb, it's considered public domain. The dude is making money and not hurting any one. We are such a wasteful country any ways. Go for it, DreamCar!

    i have an education and a job, i still go out with my buddies every week on trash night. its fun. i've found some REALLY nice stuff, including brand new tools that people just don't want anymore. most people are happy to see the things are being put to good use, last week i made over $150 in scrap and over $100 in selling things that i didn't scrap.

    I love watching this kind of stuff. Thanks for taking the time to video your scrapping run. When I was a kid in the 60's, I used to get all the scrap TVs from the repairman across the street. Lots of copper and brass in those old sets. That's how I got my spending money in those days. Allowance? Never heard of it. LOL

    today i was cleaning out a wooded area and a older man named james told me he asked the county 5 times to clean a all metal junk dump and 3 tvs. He said i was doing a good thing for him gave me a old 6-10 lb copper door stop 'slag from a old mill' and 5 bucks extra best scrap day EVER

    I have no prob with people scrapping or picking, what bothers me is when they just dont take the whole item. I was out front raking my yard one day, and had tossed out a 10ft plastic gutter extension with a metal elbow that I riveted on and some guy pulls up realized the extension was plastic, so he starts beating the metal off using my drive way as his hammer. I go seriously? Hes like every bit helps. Its like just take the item and go.. u pick the garbage.. u deal with the non steel items.

    • @BLAZERWILD
      @BLAZERWILD 10 лет назад +2

      I would have told that guy to get the fuck out of your neighborhood and to get a job. Quit stealing scrap metal ect. We have scrapers that come down our st. My neighbor and I actually take dehumidifiers and gut the metal out of them. Put them back together filled with trash so there is weight. Then set them out for the trash for these scrappers to pick up. They pick them up not knowing until they get home to take them apart. LMAO We have been doing that all summer and have had a reduced flow of scrappers coming down our st. Take care man

    • @FrankTech
      @FrankTech 10 лет назад +1

      Lol, I should start doing that..

    • @BLAZERWILD
      @BLAZERWILD 10 лет назад +3

      Frank_82 You gotta start doing that. I tell my neighbors do not set metal out for the trash. The scrappers will come and take it and make a mess in the process. I actually caught one rooting through my trash can 8 months ago. making a big mess. I said get the f*** out of there. He looked at me like huh you talkin to me. Don't mind me I'm just pilfering through the trash and I shore like beans and ain't learned books.

    For those commenting about this being illegal in most places. I think you'll find the opposite is true in most places. Generally it IS legal to go through someones trash once it's been put outside and this is how most 'private eyes' obtain info quite legally and how 'dumpster diving' works. There's a grey area when it's on private property but these are quite clearly out on the street for pickup. There are certain areas that specifically make it illegal but those are few and far between. This is the general norm for US/UK/Europe. As for Asia, I've been to a number of countries where 'recyclers' go through trash out on the streets before it's picked up and as far as I know they're not breaking any law either. Google for the law in your area, you might be surprised.

    • @wnytrashtrucks
      @wnytrashtrucks 10 лет назад

      in lots of areas there making it illegal because like were I live the town uses it to help with budgets.Plus of the risk of identy theft. In most places anything that's a certain distance from your proptey line becomes the towns.there's been many reports in my town of people getting tickets for scraping. Evently it will be totally illegal in the u.s. witch sucks scrapping is fun and a easy way for cash.

      Best to look at your city and county ordinances. For example, the city I live in determines it illegal to remove any items from a receptacle even if it is on the curb/street. If it is not in a receptacle, then it's legal. Do your research.

    • @hanksgarage_
      @hanksgarage_ 8 лет назад +3

      +j jones I know your comment is old, but I completely agree... IMO there is very little money to be made on scrap in between scrounging it, hauling it back home, breaking it down, and hauling it again to a scrap yard, just ain't worth the time to me for such a little return. I pick up stuff solely to use or fix and sell. I make 10x as much as this guy does scrapping it all by selling it on to someone else, majority of what I pick and fix are small engine stuff and they leave my hands in a day or so of posting..

    4:54, Its a guitar stand of which is something ive been hoping to see along the roadside, people do throw out good items because they're fortunate enough to be ignorant. Im not ashamed to do this at all but I also have enough respect just grab what interests me and seperate it at home rather than destroy perfectly good "trash" for what I want and leave the rest, ie. the sink he was kicking for a couple grams of brass. Id have taken the sink and and made money by selling it cheap with installation.

    If you can make more money reselling these items do so because the scrap yards sometimes do not pay you shit or your time. Me personally I would use a plastic or rubber liner in the bed to protect the metal. Unless its a dump truck etc the metal is worth protecting in case you just want to use your vehicle to cruise around and not work. Less scratches and scrapes the better.

    I don't know how the law stands in the US, but here in the UK once you put it in either the Council, or Rubbish Removal services bin or skip it becomes legally their property and if you remove it you are stealing, - and some (Councils/Skip Firms) are very quick to prosecute. The only rubbish you can 'help yourself to' is either any that has been put "out" beside the bin/skip, or has been purposely put out for the 'scrap men' who tour the streets most days of the week and week-ends.

  • @JohnSmith-qv3ll
    @JohnSmith-qv3ll 11 лет назад

    surprising thats even with national health service in uk you would wear gloves, safety boots, hi - vest vest, eye protectors to avoid personal injury but in USA where there is no national health service one broken toe or hand injury would cost him tens of thousands of dollars in medical bills alone.

    seems like more money could be made by the resale of some of the stuff that he is taking ans some he is leaving behind,there is probably a few cents of scrap metal on the ski's but he could make a lot more at a yard sale.

      I was thinking the same thing. All he had to do was list half that stuff on Craigslist or eBay, and he would make 10X more in profit. But ones mans trash....ummm one treasure of another mans trash...uhh, you get the idea! ;-)

    Where I live the Mexicans come through and clear that stuff out. Very competitive for scrap. The problem is that they get hungry and start taking lawn furniture and stuff you intend to keep.

    Rule of scraping, you need a huge house to store all the items you found
