Ive been mixing for 2 years and ive learned from tons of guys. RUclips, linkedin learning, in person engineering sessions, a few pro engineers, paid consultations BUT MAN. Your videos are literally top quality, some of the best out here. Do you have a patron or anywhere we can show some love, you deserve it man.
Thanks for the video! There’s a correction to be made around 3:13. Downward expansion doesn’t amplify, it takes quiet parts and makes them quieter (like a gate, as you mentioned).
lol so much stuff you can do in ProMB I didn't know about, and I always sidechain the vocal to the instrumental to lower the instrumental , I never thought of doing the reverse where the vocal is BOOSTED based on the instrumental. mind blown
I was literally thinking the other day "Damn I wish I could find a video that explained how to use all the bells and whistles of Pro MB" and here we are....

The Pro-Q3 dynamic section actually has a separate mechanism for overall loudness detection that adapts to the incoming input (= automatic threshold), then catches the top peaks of the affected region. It's different from what you can find in Pro MB and basically macro dynamic dependent (as it only affects micro dynamics). It really does work well in a lot of cases, and is just another flavour of compression.

I guess at 0:42 the knob is called "output" cos it amplifies or attenuates the ranges AFTER dynamics processing. Anyway, great video as always!
Thank you for the sharing!
Great video. Very informative and very nice music that you used for the demo. Who is the artist?

Thanks for watching!
Heaard that
Can someone tell only one good reason, why i should use mb compression instead of a dynamic eq like in pro q 3? They are literally the same..
Attack and release, ratio, knee and lookahead
