Never seen so much detailed tutorial of Q3 before, this make me fully understand how to EQ match and subtract freqs between two elements. Great video, taught me a lot, thanks Sage Audio.
2 more: 1. It’s cool that while a track is playing you can hover over the bottom half of the EQ curve and it will turn purple and show you any “annoying frequencies”. 2. But it’s really cool if you the click and hold your mouse to make it turn BLUE which freezes the screen (otherwise each time you make an adjustment you have to then go back, hover, wait for a couple seconds purple). Awesome video, thanks guys !!!
Outstanding! I've had the plug for a few weeks, and find it incredibly useful and intuitive, but I was unaware of how much depth there is for different applications. I've been mainly using it as the versatile band compressor that it also is, but now I have a bunch of other things I need to try. Many thanks! Very helpful!
I was experimenting with the notes in the EQ spectrum. My chorus is written in G-lydian.. I made narrow bands at every G note in the spectrum & raised them all super high (just for the experiment). I was hearing ping noises that sounded pretty neat in my key. It actually sounded great throughout the chord changes. Then, with every band selected, I moved them back & forth. You can clearly hear how horrible it sounds when they are out of key. This is important to know, because they can help you make your music sound even better, knowing how it sounds at ridiculous levels. When it sounds pleasing to the ears, then you lower them, so you can't really hear any "weirdness" - but you know it's subtly adding to the natural beauty of the sound. I might want to start doing this on the drums. No matter what you do to the EQ, you can have a separate EQ in the chain for this purpose. :)
I *love* Pro Q3, it’s instantiated on every track & bus in all of my Logic templates. I’ve used it since Pro-Q 1 and the piano roll, Bax eq type and dynamic eq are so freakin handy. Love it man!
This is an ace video - thanks for making it! I bought Q3 because I saw how many people used it, and after looking into it realised how versatile it is, and this has made that even more evident!
Wow. I made a mistake waiting this long to get Pro-Q 3. No other EQ comes close to the UI/UX quality and features. I can't wait to try the EQ inversion -- I would never have thought of that if not for this video.
TNice tutorials is much more simple than I thought with you explaining it. Currently half way through and I feel like I know everytNice tutorialng already lmao
Actually there is one incredible feature in the “expert” options - you can get the dynamic bands to react the other freq’s than the ones you are affecting 🤓 Thank you for great content 🙏🏼😘
YT's AI surfaced this to me for some reason. Learned something new today. Been using FF Q-3 for about a year and didn't know about the collision. Cool. Thanks
Thanks for watching! Cutting out some of the lows on the side image with a HP filter will help. Then try amplifying the fundamental, and an overtone in the high mids, where the click or beater of the kick is. This video might be helpful: ruclips.net/video/UVIiWDVzvcw/видео.html
Excellent, excellent - really excellent. As one recently arrived in Pro Q•3 land, you video is a much needed gem that will certainly help to get me up and running with this amazing plugin.
Hey Abolit! Thanks for watching - I can't see a way to do that, but if you pan the signal to either mid or side in the plugin's output, this helps. SageAudio.com
With Linear phase mode. I've noticed when making a high pass / low pass it introduces pre/post ring But not so much on subtle bell shape cut or boosts What're your thoughts on using linear phase EQs? What setting would u recommend purely for mastering applications
Hey Compound Audio! Thanks for watching this one! When mastering I like Natural phase, dynamic phase, or medium latency linear phase. Sometimes the zero latency sounds better for rock or punk since they don't sound as clean. Also, maximum latency linear phase might introduce some issues as you said, so it's best to avoid these for the most part. SageAudio.com
Hello:) amazing video! I have one question - because I am writing sort of cinematic music and I am a beginner - is it possible to do a final mix using only intuition and to listen a piece on diffrent headphones and monitors? Just to ballance particular instruments in my partiture by experimenting with dynamics?
Thanks for watching and letting me know you enjoyed the video! It's definitely is possible - granted the more you know, the easier it is to figure out why something isn't sounding the way you want it to, and then know how to fix it. But if you have a good ear and general knowledge of the tools you're using, you can absolutely make a final mix with some trial and error.
I feel ya. I've tried Ableton, Reaper, even shelled out for Cubase and I am no closer to understanding any of tNice tutorials than I was before. I don't
So I went to your site to register for a "free" mastering sample and it won't let me finish registration without a monthly membership fee...what about the free mastering sample?
Hey there - we recently changed our business model to subscription-based, so the 'free mastered sample' is out of date. That said, if you sign up for the membership, you get 10 masters as well as 2 additional masters each month, access to our mastering course, and some other perks.
Question, Lets say i want to send my high hats to the far left and the far right of the mix, is this possible to do with ProQ? I saw someone talking about it but i dont have much info about that specific function. To me it seems like if i send it to the left then try to send it to the right itll just go center, no?
Thanks for watching! That's right - if you were to duplicate the hi-hat and send one channel to the left and the other to the right, you'd create "Phantom Mono" or a stereo signal in which both the left and right channels are identical. In other words it would sound centered. If you use the Pro-Q 3, introduce 1 bell filter and place it on the Left, then create another and place it on the Right. Vary their center frequencies by about 500Hz, and amplify. This should widen the stereo image of the hi-hat. Alternatively, use a sample delay plugin, and delay the right or left channel by about 3ms. This will widen the hi hat as well.
