    Lore wise, Kage's mother, Tsukikage, was abducted and transformed into Dural. She was rescued by Kage by the end of VF2, and was restored to her former self. But her condition became worse after her Dural state was reversed. When Kage learned the existence of a new Dural in VF3, he set out to defeat the new Dural in order to retrieve a part, hoping to cure his mother. Unfortunately using the part on his mother transformed her into Dural again. The VF4 Dural was once again Kage's mother.

    • @EvilTediz597
      @EvilTediz597 3 года назад +27

      I think it was assumed to be his mother in VF4, but later revealed to be a fully realized and manufactured creation of the Dural project - so like a cyborg or clone or something with all of Tsukikage's combat data from the her years as Dural and basically a precursor to the V-Dural that appears in VF5. As far as the lore is concerned, Tsukikage is MIA, which I always thought was them waiting for the right opportunity to reveal Tsukikage as a new fighter to the series.

    Lore expert incoming!
    Akira did defeat Wolf in the first game, which prompts Wolf to enter the second game to challenge Akira. After the second game, he starts getting these weird dreams about the world being in danger and whatnot, so he spends the next two games trying to figure that out. In the fourth game, he finds out part of that dream involves Dural.. so, while trying to piece what Prototype T-1000 Woman has to do with these dreams, he gets challenged by El Blaze.
    As for some of the others..
    Akira: As Matt mentioned, he's a lot like Ryu. Trained in Bajiquan, he entered the first tournament and lost to Kage. After that, he undertook some serious training to compete in the second tournament, which he would go on to win. But it wasn't enough - his grandfather said he hasn't mastered 'true strength' yet. So, he has entered the last three tournaments and has come up with jack and squat for it.
    Pai: A well known movie star in Hong Kong and the daughter of Lau, she was taught his deadly martial art at a young age. Unfortunately, Lau isn't exactly the fatherly type - while he kept training to become a far better fighter, Pai's mother struggled to keep the family afloat and then passed away. Devastated by her death, this motivates Pai to enter the first tournament to confront Lau, who she blames for his death. She would fight him a few more times, but Lau still kept beating her.. then, you find out he has a terminal illness and seeks a successor to his style. She did save him from Lei Fei, who seeks to kill Lau for knowing this martial art to begin with.. now, all Pai can do is show her dying father that she has the strength to carry the legacy.
    Lau: A master of Huyanquan (Tiger Swallow Fist) and world renowned chef, he's the winner of the first tournament and despite everything going to shit for him (his restaurant went bankrupt and the terminal illness mentioned earlier), he would still fight in the tournaments. With time running short for him, he did choose a successor in Lei Fei, but that backfired on Lau when the monk tried to kill him. Thankfully, Pai saved the day. Still, he doesn't want Pai to see him like this.. so, he enters the fifth tournament hoping that he goes out in a blaze of glory.
    Jeffry: He's basically an Aussie version of Captain Ahab from 'Moby Dick' - just replace the white whale with the Devil Shark. He enters each tournament to get the money needed to repair and upgrade the fishing boat he uses to capture the damned thing. But, wouldn't you know it... someone caught the shark. J6 (Judgement 6, AKA Poor Man's Mishima Zaibatsu) caught it during the events of the fourth tournament. Fueled by his Captain Ahab levels of obsession toward the Devil Shark and not knowing what to do now, he enters the fifth tournament.
    Kage-Maru: Probably the one character who has the most to do with the Poor Man's Zaibatsu, this ninja has been through hell - his mother was kidnapped, his home village was burned to the ground and his father (also named Kage-Maru) was shot down. This is when he learns about the Poor Man's Zaibatsu and enters the first tournament. He doesn't get anything out of it, but the second tournament would drop a bombshell on him: His mother became Dural. He saves her, but she becomes sick. He enters and wins the third tournament and for his prize - a part from a new Dural model that might help cure his mother... well, it didn't cure her and it turned her back into Dural. He enters the fourth tournament and reaches the finals (where he was going to fight Shun Di) when Dural interferes. Kage-Maru beats Dural and it turns out.. that this was a Duralbot all along! Tired of the games, Kage-Maru enters the fifth tournament to save his mother and end the Poor Man's Zaibatsu once and for all.
    Sarah: Jacky's younger sister, she was kidnapped by the Poor Man's Zaibatsu after looking into an accident involving her brother (and done by.. wouldn't you know it, the Poor Man's Zaibatsu). They brainwashed her and basically used her to assassinate her brother in the first two tournaments.. which she failed at doing. At the end of the second tournament, Jacky saves her, but her memory is wiped out. Training for the third tournament helped her regain those memories which includes what J6 did to her. To help resolve these demons, she enters the fourth tournament and she almost defeats Jacky in the process. Now, for the fifth tournament, she races ahead of Jacky to see who can beat the Poor Man's Zaibatsu first. Oh, and she wants to save Vanessa from J6 as well.
    Jacky: A pro racecar driver, Jeet Kun Do expert and Sarah's older brother, he was involved in a nasty wreck that took two years worth of rehab to recover from. He finds out that J6 was behind it. He enters the first tournament to find J6 (who also kidnapped Sarah, BTW). He does run into Sarah and defeats her, but doesn't save her. So, he becomes a Jeet Kun Do expert and enters the second tournament trying to save Sarah.. which he does, but she has no memories left. So, when she enters the third tournament, he enters secretly to protect her from whatever machinations J6 has up their sleeves. She does regain her memories, which allows Jacky to focus on his racing career.. but, guess who's back to fuck shit up? That's right, it's J6! They've killed a few of his sponsors and threaten to kill more of them if he doesn't fight in the fourth tournament. He does fight in it, but now you throw in the disappearance of his sister's bodyguard, Vanessa. Sick and tired of J6 constantly butting into his life, Jacky resolves to end them once and for all.

      Eileen - Raised by her grandfather after the death of her parents, he taught her Monkey Kung Fu at a young age. To improve on these skills, she became an actress in a Beijing opera troupe... one day, she sees Pai doing a martial arts exhibition and she is blown away by her movements. She enters the 5th tournament so she can meet Pai.
      Goh - Son of an Olympic level Judo master, he became an orphan after said Judo master father of his was killed by a jealous friend. To add salt to the wound, he gets kidnapped by the Poor Man's Zaibatsu (They apparently have a thing for orphans) and trained him to be an assassin. He enters the 4th tournament to take down a few of the fighters, but failed to get the job done after losing to Jacky and Dural doing... Dural things. J6 tells him as he enters the 5th tournament to get the job done... or else (that 'else' being Jean Kujo)
      Aoi: A childhood friend of Akira and a master of Aiki Ju-Jitsu, she enters the third tournament after what Akira did in the last tournament to prove her skills. After losing in the first round, she trains in several different martial arts to prepare for the fourth tournament. At that, she meets Brad Burns... Brad defeats her as she both disgusted by his flirtatious ways and intrigued by those same ways. She enter the fifth tournament hoping to meet Brad.

  • @Coyoda
    @Coyoda 3 года назад +19

    Akira is typically the final boss in most the VF games, I feel like 3 was the exception but I might remember wrong. Part of that is due to him just being a very powerful character usually but also the hardest character to play.
    As for Dural, she has a completely mixed move set, so every button combination will be someone’s move, or even two different moves as a combo. Her hip thrust changes her between light weight and heavy weight fighting styles, so more of Wolf’s moves will be found on the heavy weight style like his throws.
