The PAC 12 collapse is going to go down as one of the worst events in college football. I don’t think any of the 12 teams will truly end up better off from it
@@mattswormstedt7346that was the best part. After everything died down with the sec and big10 games from noon to usually 8-10 sometimes, then you get to finish it off with a crazy ass offensive game with almost no defense played. PAC-12 games were always so excited because you never knew who was going to win
Same. The only hope we have now is that they do another realignment of the entire division and make conferences location based. This could happen with a split of the D-1A into Power and non-power teams
The Bear would not quit, the bear would not die. One day Cal will rise again, if the alumni can rally around the football team we can pull off the greatest program comeback in history. NIL may well be a blessing in disguise for us Cal Fans. We have more wealthy alumni than any other school in the country. Coming 1 vote away from being relegated to the mountain west should show Bear fans everywhere that WE NEED TO DONATE. Every little bit counts let’s bring back Cal football, bring back west coast football, bring back bear territory.
Take your kid (s) to a Cal game when they are young and show them that you are really excited about the game. Stand up and yell, cheer and root for the Bears. The kid(s) will become hooked on Cal football probably for life, win or lose. This will increase attendance and interest for the future.
As a Cal fan i've been waiting for somebody to talk about them for about 3 years now and now that you finally have I'm so happy! I love your content keep up the good work and maybe talk about Cal more🤣
It’s because no one wants to go to cal. They are a drought program that will never get back to where they were. And the academic requirement’s definitely hurts them in athletics
This hurt to watch. I grew up with season tickets to cal games and I’ll never forget at 10 years old when cal was ranked #2 at home against Oregon st in 2007. The PA announcer said the score of the LSU/Kentucky game when #1 LSU went down opening the door for cal. But the choice by the backup QB Riley to run up the middle with no timeouts killed it and things were never the same again
Cal is in a financial mess right now, and it extends to the entire school. It literally has a top 4 computer science program in the world yet it is criminally underfunded. The same problem also applies to football
Omg, the special love they show to certain areas and abandoned others is just shocking. The law school building looks terrible compared to other buildings on campus
Meh, the light the way campaign bought us plenty of time where we raised almost 6 billion for the school through alumni donations. Still an 82 million a year deficit is not insignificant. The reasons for it are claimed by many to be some sort of endemic issue but the reality is it is pretty dam simple and due to one thing. UC Berkeley collects 25k per undergrad in tuition and state funding yet spends 33k per student. Multiply that by 32k undergrads and you get almost 240 million in shortfall on that line item alone. Without that shortfall the university as a whole is well in the blue. Easy problem to fix. The problem is nobody is fixing it.
Yea, when I first got here i was shocked on how little people care about their college teams here. I couldn't find promo for football anywhere except a couple ads here and there. Cal used to be daym good or at least an issue for really good teams.
@@christopheryu1036 Fans shouldn’t be responsible for NIL deals schools still can’t pay the players but the Bay Area does have a lot of great sponsorship opportunities
Things would be different if jackass Mack Brown didnt lobby for Texas to getnin the Rose Bowl over Cal in the 2004/2005 season. I will never get over that and will always despise him for it.
I was one of the Willsey guys (64-67)! Cal's problem has always been at the AD level! However the collapse of the Pac 12, is another whole discussion. Too much to talk about in a text response. Somehow football on the West coast got killed...who and what is responsible!!
Jeff Tedford's only problem in 2012 was his top QB recruit (Jerod Goff) would commit to the school but for 2013. Otherwise that team would've been very good and bowl bound.
Gotta ride the financial stuff out, then look for gems in recruiting, from areas in the south you have access to now. If the grades are good enough to make it and their presents want them out of the surrounding area because of surrounding trouble, temptations, and distractions… come to Cal to focus and your folks can see you at one of the games close by.
They don’t know how to recruit. They never prioritize the local recruits that get away. I can name 10 off the top of my head the last 2 years. Smh Tedford had ties every where in cali. They should’ve never let Jake Spavital leave to Baylor but you can’t blame him 🤷🏽♂️
My parents met at Cal. So I probably wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for the university. About a month ago, my brother and I brought my nephew to his first football game ever at Memorial stadium. He loved it and was enthralled and really into the game even though we lost to Syracuse. Now when asked about his favorite football team instead of Niners or Raiders he says California Golden Bears GO BEARS! In his little kid voice. It’s really cool.
Pure greed and hubris is what destroyed the PAC 12. Cal, Stanford, and others gatekeeping the conference by not letting in other schools like San Diego State, Fresno State and Boise which would have rounded out the PAC12 to a solid contending West Coast conference was idotic.
Our AD running off Bruce Snyder after that amazing 91 season was bad enough, but then to turn around and not hire then OC Mariucci in favor of Gilbertson was also terrible. The stadium renovations Snyder was asking for didn’t happen for another 20 years.
I just found out that Cal is the same university that they always refer to as Berkeley whenever you hear stuff about the hippy movement and radical left politics. I'm not here to be political, I just found that interesting.
The material is fantastic, as are the video clips. What I don't understand is why the narrator is intentionally doing a sing-songy reading technique where he's trailing off the end of each sentence like a news anchor reading a sad but vague obituary at the end of a broadcast. Is it an ASMR technique? Maybe this would be a good candidate for the robotic " text to talk " feature for this narrator, as the content itself is superb!
Yo! Let's hear from the movers and shakers.. Who made these ridiculous decisions! As an old Blue who bled in Strawberry canyon, I would like some answer🎉s!
Auburn isnt anything to brag about rn that program is in the fkn gutter Its gonna be hard for yall to win road games. Your conference record being 3-2 actually is promising

Honestly with exception of Fresno State and San Diego State, college football is dying in California even USC has bad attendance. That’s what happens when your school doesn’t emphasize a winning culture and your state keeps importing millions of people who care more about the other “football.”
Well yeah. They don’t need to emphasize football, they have world renowned academics. It’d be great if they did emphasize it, but it’s not financially needed.
Trying to blame soccer and immigration for CFB not being as popular or valued in California is crazy lmfao it’s literally because NONE of the California teams are viable on a national level, when your best team is USC, that’s a problem. There are still plenty of Americans in California who care about CFB or Soccer or (shocker) both
cal is more abt political ideologies than sports. back in the 2000s when they were primetime it wasnt that bad plus tedford could recruit. now no one wants to play there unless they have no other choice. football is at the bottom of their list rn in terms of everything. too much politics, fake ivy league status, no financial support and now add in the nil, yeah cal is done for. cal was never meant to be a football powerhouse, what tedford did in the 2000s was amazing work.
