So, I made a mistake in the video. Kazuya does indeed beat Heihachi in Tekken 4. But it threw me off because he doesn't get control of the Zaibatsu in Tekken 5. Kazuya didn't really feel motivated to take what should be rightfully his, so I got confused... The rest of my points still stand. At least before someone debunks them 😂. My apologies.
In the tournament before Heihachi and Kazuya left to go to Honmaru, he was defeated by Heihachi, then when he was near Jin the Devil within in threw Heihachi thus making that Kazuya-Devil win against Heihachi. Then Kaz fights Jin and loses and Heihachi loses and T5 starts
I thoguht so too, but I had to double check. And this is stated on the wiki. Fourth Tournament - Kazuya Mishima (Three endings are partially canonical in Tekken 4, the second part of Heihachi's, the first and middle part of Kazuya's, and all of Jin's. Kazuya is the winner of the fourth tournament, having beaten Heihachi in the final round. (The battle at Hon-Maru takes place after the tournament had ended). Tekken 8's Story DLC "Unforgotten Echoes" confirms that Kazuya defeated Heihachi in the final round of the tournament.)
Imagine if Kazuya took over the Zaibatsu between 4 and 5. and Jinpachi was still revived by whoever possessed him(why it hasn't been confirmed to be Azazel is beyond me)
Kazuya is the strongest Mishima but his weakness is conviction. When he had no distractions in T1,T4, T7, he defeats Heihachi. When he has an inner conflict, T2 and T8, he loses. Btw its canon that Kaz wins his T4 cage match with Heihachi, its in the T8 story info panels.
Yes, he needs to be ruthless and cold blooded to win. But one slip up and everything is over for him. As for that, I apologise for that mistake and thanks for clarifiyng it. I've already created a pinned comment about the mistake.
No excuses for Jin. Jin was literally fighting a bigger mental conflict with his guilt. Kazuya was still more aggressive and ruthless than Jin was and STILL lost. Jin is slightly stronger period. Yes Kazuya hesitated to kill him but Jin was never even going for the kill in the final battle at all. Its not very complicated,it reflects the cycle from Greek mythology. Heihachi defeated Jinpachi(off screen fight) Kazuya defeated Heihachi Jin defeated Kazuya
The problem is that Kaz's character can't allow the story to continue. He's evil, arguably worse than Heihachi and the literal devil. He just wants to take over the world, but we can't have a story if he does so the game just makes him lose so he can still have obatacles. Heichahi pretends to have deeper reasons for his shitty parenting and Jin pretends to be a conflicted soul who just wants to save the world. All the Mishimas are trash, but Kazuya is honest about it.

Bro seriously calls Kazuya a coward, despite the fact that during Tekken 5, Kazuya had no intention of winning the tournament or finding his son. His only goal was to gain power, which he successfully achieved through his machinations with G Corporation. I get that you're biased and may not like this character, but making such blatantly false statements will only make you look foolish among those who actually understand the plot. > Kazuya > Coward Bro, he literally solos a giant corporation and became one of the most powerful figures in the series. Just because he didn't indulge in some shallow revenge plot doesn't make him weak. Since Tekken 4, Kazuya hasn’t cared about revenge-his sights have been set on world domination and becoming an unstoppable force.
Now look at him in Tekken 7. He ordered his people to leave the stage so he could face Akuma alone. And he took down Heihachi. It's Heihachi who didn’t want to fight Kazuya and resorted to using a laser from space to kill both of them for sure. But I wouldn't call that move by Heihachi cowardly, because it was a strategic move. The same goes for Kazuya in Tekken 5. (Tekken 8 is a disgrace with what they did to the Tekken 7 ending). And what about Tekken 8? We see that everything Kazuya aimed to achieve in Tekken 5 was successful. He’s the head of the largest global corporation, focused on increasing his power, and he couldn’t care less about his son. They never really had a beef between them-Jin wanted to kill all the Mishimas. Why didn’t Kazuya try to take Jin’s power again, like in Tekken 4? Because by the end of Tekken 4, he had gained full control of his Devil form and over time became even stronger than before. He didn’t need it anymore.
About his "running away from Lars" in Tekken 6. Where did you get the idea that he ran away? He simply didn’t see the point in fighting what later turned out to be his brother. We saw in Tekken 8 that Lars is no problem for him, because Kazuya is definitely stronger than the bastard. So, just because Kazuya decided to stop fighting, does that mean he's a coward? Sounds like something you'd hear from street thugs, not an actual analysis of his character.
Dude, it's not that serious. Some of it is exaggeration for more dramatic storytelling. Raven calls him a coward, so why shouldn't I? The fact is he didn't fight his family. Instead he chose to go after G. Corp, even though there was Zaibatsu up for grabs as well. Both would fit his goal of world domination, and both would get him the revenge he was after. This is not supposed to be super serious analysis of his character. It's more my thoughts and some stupid light hearted bits and jabs at the goofy story that is Tekken. No one said anything about T7. I said that it was his redemption story. As for my "bias", Kazuya is definitely one of my favorites. I'm just real with it, and he felt lame to me in Tekken 5-6. It doesn't matter that he took over G. Corp off screen. Kazuya that is shown in the actual cutscenes is not the same character that he was in previous outings. He only gets redeemed and is back to his old self in the last 2 games. Anyway, I'm sorry that you got so mad over me calling him a coward.
I don't think that kazuya has ever had a downfall.. In Tekken 8 he defeated devil jin like he's nothing in chapter 1, he killed Azazel, had a draw against akuma in t7 and beat heihachi 3 times throughout franchise.. he's also top 3 in popularity.
I felt like he was a bit less important to the story in T4-6. But other than story, he has always been one of the most popular and iconic characters. @mrmoldy that's fair, I agree with you about T5 and T6 but it's different with T4.. My big problem is that we have yet to really see the story from Kazuya’s perspective and see what makes him tic deep down. We’ve seen the story told from Lars, Heihachi, and Jin’s perspective but Kazuya either is a side character or the villain in the story we are supposed to root against. Arguably, Kazuya would have been a better character if he had stayed dead. He would have been someone missed dearly by the audience as a tragic villain. He died at the prime of his life, possibly on the path of redemption, not knowing he had a child with a woman who brought out the humanity in him. But of course that didn't happen and Kazuya lived. The story failed to develop his rivalry with his son, and when he finally did get revenge on Heihachi they retconned it by making a blind dumbass.
His first arc was really good. He became vulnerable for the first time in his life. And that cost him everything. His death also could have been a stronger plot point for Jin - Heihachi rivalry. Jin could have wanted revenge for his father at one point or another. They kind of dropped the ball on his return. I don't really hate his T4 appearance, but 5 and 6 really make him seem like he is a side character and nothing more.
@C.R.Cole331 I wouldn't say "forced" at all. Jim as extremely valid reasons to wanna kill kazuya, he's tryna conquer the world and depending how how much validity you wanna give his wiping out whole nations threat after the first jin fight, he's threatening genocide. Everyone has reason to beef with kazuya, just jin is the only one able to actually combat him
@diabolicamires solo'd where....they were tied in G Corp hellipad and in special chapter knocks him out of Shin form, let alone you see any signs of him in Tekken 8? No, Akuma also said he wont rest till he finishes Kazuya too, so he beat Akuma, get your facts right
Before even watching the video, I know Tekken's 4-6 are probably gonna play a big part because they were all centered around Jin. Tekken 4 was supposed to be his triumphant comeback but he was the biggest loser out of all 3 main Mishimas, he didn't do anything in 5 and peaced out to go end_life.exe G-corp fodder, and he was just waffling about offscreen in 6 until the temple, where he draws with Lars and then peaces out again.
They wanted him back, but didn't know how to do it properly. I'm glad they brought him back as he is too iconic not to be in the game. Even with a lacking story. Luckily they found a way in to make him relevant im 7. But yeah, it was a hard watch in 4-6
@mrmoldy Yeah totally. I like that you brought up how Tekken seems to default to only having 2 main characters at a time, cuz that's something I picked up on too. Since 3 and Jin's debut, they basically just take turns being sidelined (Kaz dead in 3 and not relevant in 4, Heihachi buried in 5 and enjoying retirement in 6, Jin in a coma in 7, Heihachi dead/amnesiac for 8's main story).
Tekken 6 is the game that did Kazuya the worse. Tekken 4 is easily one of the best games for Kazuya he won the 4th Tournament & merged with Devil. He lost to Jin in 4 but that’s the only fight he lost in Tekken 4 he didn’t lost to Heihachi they tell you he won in Tekken 8. Tekken 5 is about Kazuya and Jin. All Tekken’s but Tekken 3 & 6 Kazuya is the main character or a main character
You're right about Tekken 4. I am sorry, I missed that. But if you remove him from that story, everything still happens the same way it did with him in it. His arc always seems to progress positively, but for half the games in the series, his story doesn't bring anything to progress the story further. Reducing him to the role of a side character.
@ let’s say Kazuya stayed dead in Tekken 2 the story of Tekken changes a lot tbh Tekken 4 happened cause Heihachi found out Kazuya was alive, Tekken 5 wouldn’t have happened G Corp wouldn’t have accidentally freed Jinpachi since T4 wouldn’t have happened, Tekken 6 wouldn’t have happened cause Jin wouldn’t have gotten control over the Mishima Zaibastu, and Tekken 7 & 8 wouldn’t have happened the Tournament in Tekken 6 is announced because of something Kazuya did The Mishimas are the main characters of Tekken but Kazuya is the main main character
IMHO Kazuya as a character is still on rather at the midline of being Peak or Terrible, he’s mediocre or generic at best, Tekken 8 overall fumbled at this because this is where Kazuya truly mattered to the narrative and story, it failed to emphasize why Kazuya does what he does, the story failed to emphasize how Kazuya is a foil to Jin as the Jin is a foil to Kazuya, Tekken 8 could’ve brought things to full circle with Kazuya losing to Jin proving that “power is everything” or his survival to the fittest mentality isn’t the only way to live life, I love that the final fight wasn’t about the devil gene but it’s about 2 people who had similar sufferings but different perspectives and beliefs fighting with pure electrifying fist fights. However because of the lack of focus on Kazuya’s part it felt more like Jin’s arc not Jin *and* Kazuya’s arc.
@ for me it’s not that he loses, because there’s no way they’re going to let him win when in most scenarios he’s placed in him winning would just be him ending the story earlier, what I hate about them is that they never utilize again what Tekken 2 expanded on his character, they never acknowledge anything about that aside from him dying in that game. With how the DLC story being just the devs d riding Heihachi it’s unlikely we will ever get a conclusion to Kazuya’s character and him getting to interact with Jun again. It’ll just restart over and over again in this loophole of nothing but pointless story that is Tekken.
I came to the comments to clarify inaccuracies, only to see this man has been defending HIS OPINION since he dropped the vid yesterday 😂. Im not going to reiterate what was already said. Its fine to disagree, just keep it respectful. No need for toxicity. Tekken 8's writing has proved nothing matters anymore anyway 😂
They should’ve never made Kazuya a bad guy, and they should’ve never make kazuya become a CEO because kazuya should never be the CEO, they should never make him ruthless and cold-blooded, kazuya should be the only main character and true protagonist in every tekken series, they should’ve made kazuya a better and awesome character, they should make him a hero who wants protect everyone, kazuya should never be heihachi’s oldest son, kazuya should be a orphan and have real deceased biological parents who were humans and were definitely killed, this guy named itsuki should be heihachi’s oldest son and lee’s adoptive older brother, itsuki should be the one become the CEO of Mishima Zaibatsu, itsuki should have the devil gene, kazuya and itsuki should have the rivalry, kazuya should be making friends with Paul, Law, King, Yoshimitsu, Nina, Jun, Michelle, Mei (who was Ling Xiaoyu’s Mother) and Lei, kazuya should be born a human as a baby, but was used as experiment after being kidnapped to get injected into the devil gene at age 11 instead of being thrown off the cliff
Honestly I’ve lost track of who actually beat who in 4 since this is the 3rd time it’s been changed (I think) but yeah based on 8’s telling, Kazuya beat Heihachi
It has been changed many times and writers disagree. I would say based on all of that it was about a draw, with some feeling that Kazuya propably won the fight but he was robbed,it happens in fighting sports all the time Heihachi owned everything in that stadium, there is no way he wouldn't be announced winner. So my head canon after seeing the DLC files is that the general population in the Tekken universe think Kazuya won that fight. But Heihachi still canonically retained his position and was announced the official winner
So, I made a mistake in the video.
Kazuya does indeed beat Heihachi in Tekken 4. But it threw me off because he doesn't get control of the Zaibatsu in Tekken 5. Kazuya didn't really feel motivated to take what should be rightfully his, so I got confused...

@diabolicamires solo'd where....they were tied in G Corp hellipad and in special chapter knocks him out of Shin form, let alone you see any signs of him in Tekken 8? No, Akuma also said he wont rest till he finishes Kazuya too, so he beat Akuma, get your facts right
@diabolicamiresHe stalemated Akuma at GCorp tower and he had the edge against him at the second fight after having fought Heihachi already
I always like him but they had to take away his greatest victory
@ for me it’s not that he loses, because there’s no way they’re going to let him win when in most scenarios he’s placed in him winning would just be him ending the story earlier, what I hate about them is that they never utilize again what Tekken 2 expanded on his character, they never acknowledge anything about that aside from him dying in that game. With how the DLC story being just the devs d riding Heihachi it’s unlikely we will ever get a conclusion to Kazuya’s character and him getting to interact with Jun again. It’ll just restart over and over again in this loophole of nothing but pointless story that is Tekken.
i really hate tekken 6 story...
It looķs like a godly masterpiece compared to the Tekken 8 DLC
Dude he gets bored and walks away he feel like it's a waste of his time like he said power is everything
I liked Tekken 8s main story,except Reina.
Problem is that DLC
If this was a rise and fall video I would flag it cuz is the man
They should’ve never made Kazuya a bad guy, and they should’ve never make kazuya become a CEO because kazuya should never be the CEO, they should never make him ruthless and cold-blooded, kazuya should be the only main character and true protagonist in every tekken series, they should’ve made kazuya a better and awesome character, they should make him a hero who wants protect everyone, kazuya should never be heihachi’s oldest son, kazuya should be a orphan and have real deceased biological parents who were humans and were definitely killed, this guy named itsuki should be heihachi’s oldest son and lee’s adoptive older brother, itsuki should be the one become the CEO of Mishima Zaibatsu, itsuki should have the devil gene, kazuya and itsuki should have the rivalry, kazuya should be making friends with Paul, Law, King, Yoshimitsu, Nina, Jun, Michelle, Mei (who was Ling Xiaoyu’s Mother) and Lei, kazuya should be born a human as a baby, but was used as experiment after being kidnapped to get injected into the devil gene at age 11 instead of being thrown off the cliff
My guy thats a whole different story.
Bro said jin came
Out on top in tekken 8 pretty easily, like Jin wasn’t literally fighting for his life
Once he forgave himself he gained a clear advantage, even doing more HP damage
Saying Kazuya was the weakest Mishima in Tekken 4 when he literally beats Heihachi is crazy
I corrected my mistake in the comments. I thought that he lost. It was retconned a couple of times by now
Most valid sources say Heihachi won
Kazuya>>>>>>>>>>your favorite tekken character
One of the best, no doubt
Honestly I’ve lost track of who actually beat who in 4 since this is the 3rd time it’s been changed (I think) but yeah based on 8’s telling, Kazuya beat Heihachi
It has been changed many times and writers disagree.
I would say based on all of that it was about a draw, with some feeling that Kazuya propably won the fight but he was robbed,it happens in fighting sports all the time
Heihachi owned everything in that stadium, there is no way he wouldn't be announced winner.
So my head canon after seeing the DLC files is that the general population in the Tekken universe think Kazuya won that fight.
But Heihachi still canonically retained his position and was announced the official winner
