Getting to purple in 10 days is actually insane! It took me about 10 times as many hours to do the same. Once I saw your stats though, it made sense. Asuka is a character that requires you to be defensive by default, but your 67 defense and 25 block is massive. There are lots of players in the blue ranks, myself included, who have way lower defense. The highest mine has ever hit is 60 but I'm usually in the 50s and I think my block is around 13. (We Reina's are bad at blocking.) It's an abysmal stat that I'm still working on and yet I still made it to blue. You can definitely get even higher. Now that you are purple, it becomes about learning your frame advantages and even more frame traps as well as which of your moves are safest to use against a player who knows your character. Remember, it's not about winning, it's about improving. You will rank down and up like crazy but one of those days it will just "click" and boom, you hit blue ranks. As many of the pros say: "If you are good enough, the rank will come naturally." We will watch your career with great interest.
First of all, thank you for support and compliments. I didn't know that 67 defense is high for my rank. I still feel that I'm terrible at defending lol. But I definitely feel that I'm improving still. I am just learning about frane advantages and matchups. The only one that I understand how to punish and block somewhat reliably is Kazuya since I faced him the most by far. So learning even more would do me good. Also, I'm not a complete beginner so that might've helped somewhat, since the hardest part of tekken is just understanding basic principles of it I feel. And about things clicking you're exactly right. That last day everything just came together and I pushed for promotion in 30 games. After being stuck in Tenryu for 200 gamese or even more Thanks so much for nice words, you made my day. Maybe we can even play sometimes!
This was really entertaining, thanks for showing your journey. You should keep playing defensively even if you lose a bit more, the knowledge you get from blocking and paying attention to their attacks will help a lot in higher ranks. Anyone can mash and flowchart but they'll get hardstuck eventually when their strats stop working. Hopefully you'll make a video of future fights, good luck
Thanks for your advice and nice words as well. I did play a bit more in purple, and it seems that I either beat cheesers easily because of my defense, or I get beaten through fundamentals. So yeah, that's what I'll focus on as well as matchups. I think that I'll need to lab the popular ones. Starting with Jim. Thanks again and I hope that you'll stick around!
Thanks man! Congrats on getting Garyu. There are some really good players there already. So you are really close to purple. Just keep at it, try to learn from your mistakes rather than getting tilted and try to learn from losses and you'll progress even further. Good luck on your journey.
Sub for a fellow Asuka player! Good job and keep going, the blue ranks are waiting. Your experience mirrors mine esp. The frustration reduced my brain to watery mashed potatoes at one point... Coach Kazama is the GOAT! Alcratz also does very good tutorials for Asuka. I've uploaded my Asukas ranked adventure on my channel as well. 😊
Thanks for the sub man! Appreciate it! Yeah, it has been quite frustrating at one point. I even thought about quiting around day 8. Hopefully I can hit those blue ranks. But it will take more than 10 days I think. Also, I checked you out. Good Job and good luck on your journey to higher ranks!
rage arts are launch punishable on block so long as you input the launch directly after you block their hit they are also grab punishable directly after blocking the hit
Awesome video! I hope you continue your Tekken 8 ranked journey! I'll be tuning in. xD If you don't mind me giving you advice, here are things you could work on to make it easier for you to rank up to Blue and beyond: - Small Tekken (Your poking game) - Learn Asuka's frame traps and abuse them. - Spacing and Whiff punishment - Blocking and Block punishment - Throw breaking This is in order of importance from top to bottom. 👍 You can look up videos on these and you'll be a Blue rank in no time.
Thanks a lot for your support! I agree that my poking is bad. I only know a few safe moves. Most of it is still unsafe, but I'm working on it. I'm trying to learn other things as well. But it feels that I'm losing so much because of my poor throw breaks. Once people figure it out, they just abuse it. I studied way more in the red ranks than I ever did before, and it certainly showed. Thanks again, and who knows, we might even meet in ranked some day!
@mrmoldy I would be honored to be your training buddy! I'm in the Philippines though. Asia 3 server in Tekken 8. Depending on where you are, connection might be bad... But I swear to you that if you watch a guide on Asuka and how she's generally played, you'll destroy everyone. I would like to suggest Fergus' guide on her? Mainly because he's one of the best Asuka players in the world. 👍
Ehhh, unfortunately EU 1 for me. I am watching coach Kazama since his videos are guided more towards intermediates. But I did check out Fergus and a few more people in these 10 days as well.
@@mrmoldy That one move he does in stance where he taps you with the sheathe and then swings the blade, and goes into stance again is mid high, if you wanna stop, or greatly hinder their ability to pressure you in stance, reacting to the first mid and ducking the high for a launch will make them think twice about trying to loop + frames on you, but theres never a TRUE awnser to a mix-up, thats just how it is.
@@mrmoldy yeah, take notes if you can, about what options can work under certain circumstances, like can you interrupt this if he gets into stance like this? Type of notes and the like. I have a 3.5k letter text document solely on Alisa's chainsaws and I haven't gone super deep in the counter play, just more surface level (sidestep left duck will beat a lot of options if she doesn't delay anything after you block the high +on block)
very nice! I am currently blue ranks with Asuka. if your winrate is at 60% then in theory you could be around my rank in time. work on the small combos. You hit a few ppl with ff2. That is a gradated db1,2 or db1,4. you let a lot of strings go unpunished. Use 1,1/1,2 or 2,3 if you are not sure. 2,3 wouldve punished many of the unsafe strings i saw. f2 is one of the best whiff punishments in the game. If your are in the right range and someone just throws something dumb out that will destroy them. df 2 is a great lancher as well. good hit box and can punish whiffed buttons very nicely

ranked shaming in tekken is lame to begin with. You should just have to learn matchups and punishment and safe gameplay.
