Tekken prides itself on its long running story, but that sure doesn't mean all (or even most) of its roster gets the right amount of love. They've let 95% of the cast rot in narrative hell either being unused or devolved into one note jokes.
Yup, most of the roster has stagnant plot because of the main story happening in the course of less than a year. So all stories need to stop while Mishima one gets resolved. And given the main story's ending, we might be in that circle for quite a while. So, we can safely say that side character's stories will probably be the same, or worse in the future.
I find it funny that Yoshimitsu, a guy who fights for justice against organisations like the Mishima Zaibatsu and G-Corp has 0 involvement in the story other than turning up at the tournament, and then shows up in the DLC story to do NOTHING (He has like 2 lines of dialogue and none of them link in with his character at all, you dont even play him). Then his character episode is just his Tekken 6 storyline recycled mixed with his Tekken 5 ending. He has been relegated to chasing after Bryan and fail to kill him (because now his endings are non-canon since tekken 5) over and over. I'd definitely love a video on our Yoshi, his downfall is less apparent and he is still one of the better side characters story wise but they still squandered the great lore and background he had in tekken1-4.
Story and Asuka are two words that only fit together in two occassions unfortunately: T5 Ending and Tetsuman Comics Unironically if Reviving characters didn't exist in this series she has the HIGHEST story potential of all characters. Showing Jin Kazama moves back again, using whatever the "Kazama Powers" are, interesting philosophy where she hates fighting yet has one of the highest raw strengths of the cast, rather than Lili being a nuisance maker her Asuka's GF or BFF both is good and voila. Not to mention we got robbed of our Reina x Asuka rivalry which could be TOP 3 rivalries if done right. Reina is basically what Asuka could have been but that's a different topic. As an Asuka main the reason why I hate Feng or Lili isn't because Asuka hates them. They are unironically characters with 0 PURPOSE in the story and they drag Asuka down with them. Feng used to be cool back in T5 but then he just became a gag character THAT DOESN'T KNOW HE IS A GAG CHARACTER unlike our GOATS Paul and Law. Make Lili stop annoying Asuka, make Asuka actually get a win against Feng by chance, make Feng come to terms with losing and what a loss could bring to a great fighter like him and how he should pursue an honest rivalry with Leroy, make Lili follow Eliza and write some weird ahh story off of that and make Asuka team up with Jin where Jin fights Heihachi while Asuka has a rivalry with Reina and fight her, make Asuka train Jin on Kazama Moves now that he uses them again (also tell my homeboy Jin to teach Asuka Wavu so she can move) I can write so much more and you know it. Asuka may be the Tomboy waifu that I fell in love with when I first saw her when I was 12 but she genuinely has an interesting character (not to mention her voice actress kinda goes batshi compared to everyone else) and I wish they did SOMETHING, ANYTHING with her. SHE WASN'T EVEN PLAYABLE IN STORY MODE.
I definitely agree with you. I am salty about that ever since T6 came out. When she was introduced, she had as much potential as Reina has now. Even though your ideas are good, I just think that it is all to late for them to change anything now. It took them more than 15 years to retcon Jin into being a good guy again. How long would it take them to make Asuka depart from Lili? I also main Asuka, and your stories do sound good. But with Jun coming back, I think that this was a final nail in the coffin of Asuka's Kazama powers and main story potential.
Her tekken 5 ending ruined her by trying to make her a love interest for Jin and a diet version of Jun, the character had no shot since fans were still invested in Xiaoyu and Jun
Paul's main story here is that he's gunning for Kazuya, but fought Law instead since Nina manipulated the man to go against his buddy because money. While Paul and Kuma's rivalry is now over as seen in the story Kuma accidentally saving Paul, which pretty much suggest Paul won the mini tournament arc against him and in the end they're helping people together in a picture. While Law on the other hand doubles down on the comedy and shenanigans. As for Asuka no more references, she's just with Lili fighting Jacks.
Yeah, I'm glad that they moved Paul over from being a complete moron, to being somewhat serious now. But let's be real, he is never going to get that fight with Kazuya, is he? Law has been the mos disappointing for me by far. It's almost as if he remained dumb, but he is now being dumb for 2 people. Since they fixed up Paul. Asuka is just boring I agree. Nothing of importance happening with her.
@@mrmoldyyeah he will never fight kazuya anyways cuz since 4 he lost to Kuma he had become a joke and still kinda is but he did get to be friends with Kuma now.
I hate how the story just keeps running in a circle. The series has become stagnant and annoying ever since T6 doubled down on shelving the side characters and giving a lot of them joke endings or killing them off. My biggest gripe however is how genuinely good T4's story was. Idk why they threw that out the window.
I agree. Ever since the story got stuck in the period of less than a year (T5-8) all take place within a couple months. Every side character is just there to be a part of the roster, with nothing more to it, other than a joke here and there As for T4, it flopped on the market because of game design and stuff like that I believe, but the devs aren't willing to risk it anymore with making that kind of serious and engaging story anymore because of bad sales.

Plus she was a distint relative and archives dlc said that jun is the only one with spiritual powers at this point

Eh, this is pretty good!
