Aww, that is great. I really enjoyed talking with him. It was actually Halloween (and he would get up and go hand out candy every now and then) and we had a lot of back and forth that wasn't in the video, he seems awesome! Thanks for commenting =)
I've loved your series documenting life at ew. For some of us it is a memory we have pushed down. And your documenting reminds me of the great times that were had. I unfortunately entered into a toxic relationship and left with that person who encompassed my world for many years.
You're a great interviewer, Sumner. Thanks for the opportunity. The only thing I miss in the video is all I learned from you about life on the commune after I left. It was a great conversation. Thanks for all you are doing for the preservation of East Wind culture for posterity and the communard diaspora.
Thanks, Sorrel! Really enjoyed the conversation. Yes, there is a decent chunk that was left on the cutting floor, including those sporadic trick-or-treaters, haha! Perhaps I will post less edited versions of the interviews in an "unlisted" playlist for those who seek it out.
There is a very recent, long term member interview coming up. I would interview current members, yes. But, you can't really get a very good interview. People can be honest and forthright when they are a year or two removed. While you are living there there isn't much incentive to do an interview with any outside media. I always thought it would be great to have some "member profiles" with various media attached on the website, but like most things, that would be too much work to maintain.
@@EastWindCommunity1973 that is a fair point you make. Since visiting EW, I had the chance to meet so many different people with different outlooks on what communal living is like specifically at East Wind. Although the interviews you have posted have been very helpful, (I’ll go as far to say they are why I ended up going to visit EW back in September) I think it would be very cool to get current members thoughts while they are “in the thick of it.” It might add some cool nuance to the series you have; looking from the outside in AND inside out. However, like you said, there is some ‘difficulties’ getting members to interview with you. Just some food for thought. Thanks for the reply and can’t wait for your next upload

Haha about the founding work-a-holic members . . . I always said that the skill it needs to start a community and the skills that it takes to keep a community going are not the same skills. Interesting that you didnt say a single name and i said so many . . . also I think there was still process to get from visitor to PM or associate, right, but not from associate or PM to FM?
Yes, I did try hard to not mention names to avoid offending anyone who didn't want to be mentioned. Of course you are not giving credit to the person that way. But there is always the comment section to rectify that. I think Cara (another Cara [Cara Austin]) and Anna were the only ones I name dropped.
Hey Sumner, Forgive me if you just deleted my other comment and I'm being dense, but I'm just not sure if that is the case or my comment just didn't post. I'm an undergraduate doing research at the University of Arkansas and I'd love to get in contact with you about East Wind. If you're interested in helping me out, just let me know. Thanks.

Hello!! I lived at Eastwind for 2 years in the early 2000s. With Sorrel and his daughter! He is a very kind personality and very calm to be around.
Aww, that is great. I really enjoyed talking with him. It was actually Halloween (and he would get up and go hand out candy every now and then) and we had a lot of back and forth that wasn't in the video, he seems awesome! Thanks for commenting =)

I gain so much by watching your videos! So many different perspectives! But would you ever interview any current members?

the lesson in well-loved people with kind of atrocious behavior ... wow, will have to think about that ... very interesting
