YES!! This. A thousand times, THIS. Given the ride's lackluster reception ( and Bob Iger's own admission it's boring ) I can only hope Imagineers consider your idea as the upgrade in a year or so. This was the ONLY logical thing to do with this up/down section of track and they blew it.
I remember when talking about being disappointed with the retheme announcement with others, they would tell me, "Oh, you just can't accept change. You're just not willing to see new ideas." And it's like, no, I'm disappointed because I knew modern Disney would just take the most boring route possible when doing the retheme. As soon as they said that the ride would take place after the movie, I felt confident saying that they wouldn't include Facilier on the ride like we were all hoping. Everyone I talked to said I was being too pessimistic and laughed at me. WELL WHO'S LAUGHING NOW!?
How many rides are just us going to parties? Ratatouille fine at least there was a villain but frozen has Elsa kick us out for no reason down a falls and now this
Ok DAMN... i'm a diehard splash mountain enthusiast, but if they did like this, I imagine I might calm down a little bit because that might work indeed.
@@NaturebyGus Hi! You are correct. I only found the discussion of whether or not it was a animatronic crocodile or alligator to be very funny, being this is a cartoon creature in a fantasy ride at Walt Disney World. It reminded me of the types of conversations and disputes on on the TV series Seinfeld. You will have to admit his snout was pretty wide, and so maybe he was a croc that swam up to New Orleans from South Florida? ha-ha
I’m not kidding when I say I thought of this a few days ago. He’s literally the best part of the movie, and including him would allow for there to be stakes like the original!
And you're supposed to overcome that fear. That's part of the thrill! Disney used to recognize it. Overcoming an adversary and growing as a result of it was central to most of their classic films.
Totally agree. But then they would have limited time and space to wrap up the story. Perhaps the laughing place is the Faciliar (friends) section you mention leading to the top of the cliff where Mamma Odie appears and attempts to ward off his voodoo. Then you appear at giant set piece having saved the day.
Keep most of the story as is, but then halfway through the third arc, Facilier's voice pops in as Friends on the Other Side starts playing throughout the leadup and climb to the final drop with the song ending just as you go over.
@@jish55 I think a great time to unveil this revised Tiana’s Bayou Adventure would be around Halloween (and why not bring Haunted Mansion Holiday and Ghost Galaxy with it), but after October wraps up, they should keep it around indefinitely (I know the reception would be great)
Brilliant illustration of how it could have been. The simplicity of the video effects only drives the point home even better. The fact that Disney didn't do something like this leads me to suspect someone within Disney actively hates good storytelling. There's no way the Imagineers weren't thinking along these lines, too.
Not getting this song in the ride was such a disappointment. Thank you for letting us pretend They took all the thrill out as a ride if they wanted to stick with this they could have been like oh no there is a small drop ahead but because they're tiny it 's going to seem like a big drop
Or they could have had Dr. Facilier coming back as a ghost and trying to get us to help him get revenge on Tiana, throughout the ride. The final incline and splash drop are when Dr. Facilier’s “Friends on the other side” find him and drag him back. He attempts to drag us with him but fails when Mama Odie swoops in at the last moment (off to the side) and casts a spell to get us free.
Well, its not confirmed he's even dead actually. Rather it seems he was imprisoned and is being tormented by the demons. Could easily be a thing where they give him one more chance. He could have worked with them that he was planning on crashing Tiana's party and taking the souls of the riders. Of course they'd be interested in possibly getting thousands of souls. So you get a sorta active role for the riders as well.
So much excitement in 44 second ( more than the entire ride itself) , and disney didn't even use the song or the villian. This home made video can easily get Disney imagineers fired ! 👍"BRAVO."👍
The destruction of Splash Mountain...one of the most beloved attractions in the world...to replace it with this low budget...bland...empty...soulless excuse is an insult...to the ride and to the movie and its characters. This looks nothing like anything in New Orleans or Louisiana...plastic tropical flowers and vines that do not fit. Tiana's Rainforest Cafe Adventure, as many here in the States are calling it...
That's twice now in recent time I've heard a new Disney attraction be referred to as an off-brand Rainforest Cafe...uh oh. (The other being the Starcruiser hotel, by a commenter on Jenny Nicholson's video on it)
should have had the queue set up the story, with displays and projections, similar to splash, should have seen Tiana and Naveen (in frog form) on the first lift hill, hearing "almost there" perhaps, meet Louis after the first drop, hearing "when we're human", meet Ray, hearing "down the bayou", then, encounter Facilier's shadows, only to be saved by mama odie, while we hear "dig a little deeper", and are sent off toward New Orleans, in the horizon, only descend into the New Orleans / graveyard setting, where Facilier tries to entice Tiana with her dreams, before the lift hill brings us Facilier's defeat at the hands of his friends on the other side, ending with a riverboat finale, with Tiana in her wedding gown, all singing "down in new orleans"
We can do even better and make it an animatronic. There are special black-light paints that can only be seen when shined by a blacklight. Could have the lights go off to reveal his iconic "skull" face paint.
Seriously somebody send this to the higher ups at Disney, this is what the people wanted the ride to be like. If your gonna change an iconic rides theme at least do it right.
Really, the final drop encapsulates everything wrong with the ride- there's no plot, no tensions, and they try to appeal to little kids on what should be advertised as a thrill ride. Even the name is toothless- "Bayou Adventure", really? What about "Bayou Extravaganza", "Bayou Splashdown" "Splashtastic Journey", anything would've been better.
@@calebray1834 Or are too scared. Seeing that massive drop on approach and hearing the screams is _intimidating._ Well the drop is still there so this just ruins the experience for those who will ride, adults and brave kids.
If they ever decide to update it, this could be easily achieved with little cost. Where the Laughing Place section used to be, just change the lighting to dark with black light purple and green colors, project some of the Shadow creatures on the walls or on the screens where the fireflies and Tiana are. You could add Dr Facilier's ghost to the story and change the voice overs to saying "Be careful around here! The Shadow Man is coming!" and have him be the one who shrinks us. Can't afford a animatronic Dr Facilier? Add him to the screen where Madame Odie is, switch out the music to "Friends on the Other Side" during the big lift, project Facilier's shadow on the wall before you drop or heck, even just use any of the Shadow creatures if you don't want to use Facilier at all. There are so many cost-effective ways this could actually add a fear and suspenseful element to the without compromising the whole refurbishment. Come on, Disney, at least give us the big thrill factor of the original ride.
I thought it was a missed opportunity to re use the Bre’r Fox shadow projection as Facilier’s shadow. Instead of Facilier making a physical appearance throughout the ride, as it takes place after the movie and he’s presumed dead, his shadow would follow Tiana and Louis around. Would be soooo much better.
Instead of escaping the Shadow Man and Voodoo ghouls down the drop, we got to the generic party faster and we brought the special spice, which was us all along. ZZZzzz….
Easy and better story for the ride: Facillier returns in the form of a ghostly shadow and in the middle of prepping for the tianas celebration kidnaps naveen turning him into a frog to offer his soul so he can return to the living (us also accidentally so we could go through the underground portion still), leaving tiana and the gang to go through the bayou to stop him, mama ode saves naveen so facillier settles for us calling for his friends on the other side to swap our soul for his (the lift hill). Only for tiana to once again send him back to the other side dropping us back to the land of the living. Where naveen and tiana throw their awaited celebration. Pretty simple story that couldve been executed easily if they used projections for facilliers shadow, they also wouldnt have to change the end room or most of the effects but just add on top of it or move some of it around.
I would have stood in line just for the chance to see this. Friends on the Other Side is one of my all-time Disney favorites and it's such unnecessary missed opportunity here, excluding Dr. Facilier. Here's a prime example of how Disney refuses to give fans what they obviously want, and how it would so easy to do. They go through more effort to keep their customers dissatisfied.
Really hoping in a few years we get new management in and they shut this down to upgrade it. There needs to be an entire lead up to the fall where Dr Facilier helps increase the suspense. It's too perfect.
I mean the Re theme was interesting, but whoever gave the no no to Dr. faciller was an idiot. We got no fun climax and just some way to get a cash grab. RIP Splash Mountain except Tokyo.
Got to love how Disney's DEI story group thought the voodoo was offensive and then proceeded to have Mama Odie who was a voodoo character now be a fairy god mother! They spend so much time on that and forgot to make a ride. Almost bare...Almost bare... Disney is crazy and they just don't care. Ripped out one of the classic rides and replaced it with trash! Attention please, the pixie dust has left the company!
I definitely agree that the biggest problem with the ride is that it needed more conflict and that it definitely played it safe. Likely so that guest services has less complaints about the ride being too scary for kids. Unlike at movie theaters, Disney workers have to deal with those parents directly in this case. I was impressed with the set design, the animatronics and the colorful atmosphere though and I do think it looks like a fun ride overall though. That said Splash Mountain will always be an iconic ride for me, though I do understand the circumstances behind its removal (it's a long story that has to do with the original movie and how it arguably hasn't aged well). It's possible to acknowledge the problems with Song of the South while praising the design of Splash Mountain.
This is the best take I’ve seen on the new ride, it feels like 99.99% of people are either celebrating the closing of splash mountain, or calling Tina’s the worst thing that’s ever happened to the Disney parks, I appreciate this comment for showing both sides of the story
Yes yes yes! I see the vision and concept! This would also bring back a little "scary" factor that has been missing since Tower of Terror got shut down in Disneyland. This ride would be a fan favorite if Disney did this!
Here's my idea for the drop: As you climb up the lift hill, vultures sit perched above you, taunting you. Right before the drop, you see a poor rabbit all tied up, about to be eaten by a fox. But at the last minute, the rabbit tricks the fox into freeing him, throwing him over the waterfall and into the briar patch below. Now THAT would be awesome.
You’re supposed to be preparing yourself for the drop, so a sense of danger on the lift prepares you mentally. A surprise drop isn’t a problem but this puts you into too much of a relaxed state Plus the song is just such a vibe
Things they should've done: Do this for the big drop. Have Mama Odie's Treehouse on top of the ride. Instead of being turned into a frog, you just continue exploring the bayou. Have kept some of the original animatronics and added them to the critter band. Add Stella the bassette hound add the ending scene just like all cute and stuff. Make Lottie look more like how she looks in the movie as opposed to just some random girl who's there.
Honestly a no brainer. I now know I wasn’t the only one who imagined this as the final lift song when they first announced the ride. Such a massive missed opportunity. Thank you for this!
I think this would’ve been better because it would remind me of the time I miss watching the movie when I was little and it would also remind me of husk from hazbin hotel because apparently Keith David played as both Dr. facilier and husk. Which is just really cool to me!
I feel like Disney needs to do a lay over for the ride for the not so scary Halloween party with this in it. If not they have missed a HUGE opportunity to redeem themselves.
Funnily enough with the ride height requirement being at least 40” no little kids can ride to begin with. Older kids know the movie and would be less surprised by the drop as opposed to what they did with Mama Odie giving no indication of the 50’ drop. 😒
0:15 - 0:18 reminds me of how on Pirates of the Caribbean, they would have that foggy cloud within the beginning of the ride showing a villain's face like Davy Jones or Blackbeard in which you go right through it
Perhaps this would have worked better if the ride was set during the film. That way you could have the "Are you Ready?" moment at the final drop. You can still have the lighter moments with the main characters while having some of the darker moments with Dr Facilier. I know this would probably be deemed as "too scary" but at least it would have been better than what we got.
@@ThemeParkOgre Yep. The first drop would be "Transformation Central" and the final drop would be when the Doctor gets dragged to Hell or just his "friends" singing "Are you ready?".
THIS. I'm pretty sure everyone of us who wanted the change were saying that we wanted THIS at the big lift hill. It'd be taking on what Splash Mountain did. Splash Mountain built up the tension for going down that big drop and made us fear for Brer Rabbit's life. Dr. Facilier being incorporated into this portion, and the story itself, would build up the tension for the big drop. Kids can handle a little tension.
Complete agree, it was missing an antagonist and I was thinking he would have been great during that lift hill, replace that whole shrinking bit that went no where.

Given the ride's lackluster reception ( and Bob Iger's own admission it's boring ) I can only hope Imagineers consider your idea as the upgrade in a year or so. This was the ONLY logical thing to do with this up/down section of track and they blew it.
That would be awesome!
This. And also, bring back the damn hidden Mickey.
There is a hidden Mickey in the ride
Agreed, losing Spash would have been more manageable if they actually made Tiana's an amazing experience
The lewis crocodile animatronics mouth is already broken and not moving when he speaks
He's an alligator
@@tonyparra8459 LOL I want a reptile biologist to weigh in!
@@seascape35 Crocodiles don't inhabit Louisiana, only American alligator (Alligator mississippiensis)
You will have to admit his snout was pretty wide, and so maybe he was a croc that swam up to New Orleans from South Florida? ha-ha
crocodiles don’t speak
I’m not kidding when I say I thought of this a few days ago. He’s literally the best part of the movie, and including him would allow for there to be stakes like the original!
Crazy they didn't do it!
Crazy one of my fav Disney villians and best, didn’t get no representation
I can't believe you actually fix the drop with just a 43 second video
You made a better ride than all the Disney imagineers combined
and the sad thing is: it wasn't that hard!
@@ThemeParkOgre Goes to show how pathetic the new imagineers are compared to Joe Rohde and Tony Baxter.
This is how it's suppose to be like. You're suppose to feel some fear and anxiety, and not happiness while going down the waterfall.
Agreed, this would have suited a dark ride much better
@@jish55 I think a great time to unveil this revised Tiana’s Bayou Adventure would be around Halloween (and why not bring Haunted Mansion Holiday and Ghost Galaxy with it), but after October wraps up, they should keep it around indefinitely (I know the reception would be great)
It could easily be us "escaping" from him and it's his last laugh or whatever
There's lots of better ways they have could done it for sure!
Brilliant illustration of how it could have been. The simplicity of the video effects only drives the point home even better. The fact that Disney didn't do something like this leads me to suspect someone within Disney actively hates good storytelling. There's no way the Imagineers weren't thinking along these lines, too.
Thank you, that's exactly what I was going for - see Disney, it's not that hard!
Imagine the projections they could’ve had like all the visuals
Not getting this song in the ride was such a disappointment. Thank you for letting us pretend
They took all the thrill out as a ride if they wanted to stick with this they could have been like oh no there is a small drop ahead but because they're tiny it 's going to seem like a big drop
@@mmalone139 fair enough
Another good option!
YES! A revenge story would have worked for this!
Even have his shadow follow us throughout the ride.
So much excitement in 44 second ( more than the entire ride itself) , and disney didn't even use the song or the villian. This home made video can easily get Disney imagineers fired ! 👍"BRAVO."👍
Let’s be honest, the only reason we were looking forward to the ride was because of him, and my guy didn’t even show up-
i miss splash mountain!!
Me too!!! 😢😭😭💦⛰🐰🦊🐻
It’s what I’m calling this ride
Agreed. Losing Splash was hard enough, but replacing it with a inferior ride was even worse!
That's twice now in recent time I've heard a new Disney attraction be referred to as an off-brand Rainforest Cafe...uh oh.
(The other being the Starcruiser hotel, by a commenter on Jenny Nicholson's video on it)
should have had the queue set up the story, with displays and projections, similar to splash,
should have seen Tiana and Naveen (in frog form) on the first lift hill, hearing "almost there" perhaps,
meet Louis after the first drop, hearing "when we're human",
meet Ray, hearing "down the bayou", then, encounter Facilier's shadows, only to be saved by mama odie,
while we hear "dig a little deeper", and are sent off toward New Orleans, in the horizon,
only descend into the New Orleans / graveyard setting, where Facilier tries to entice Tiana with her dreams,
before the lift hill brings us Facilier's defeat at the hands of his friends on the other side,
ending with a riverboat finale, with Tiana in her wedding gown, all singing "down in new orleans"
some good ideas there!
Only thing missing at the end is a Water Projection like in World of Color with Facillier saying "HUSH!"
We can do even better and make it an animatronic.
There are special black-light paints that can only be seen when shined by a blacklight. Could have the lights go off to reveal his iconic "skull" face paint.
awesome idea!
Tiana’s Bayou Splash would have been a much better name!
Agreed!
And little kids aren’t tall enough to ride anyway.
@@calebray1834Agreed!
@@calebray1834
Or are too scared.
Seeing that massive drop on approach and hearing the screams is _intimidating._
Well the drop is still there so this just ruins the experience for those who will ride, adults and brave kids.
Guests: "We like your villains Disney"
Disney: "We understand. We'll be sure to utilize them less due to their diabolical tendencies."

Some good ideas there!
Didn't think of that, would make a lot of sense with his shadow!
They should have this as a future goal, it matches with the energy.
Keith David’s voice would make me so terrified on this ride you don’t understand
disney fumbled this ride bad. this would’ve been perfect 😭
This is so much better than what we got. The ride is just so boring without a villain
A Dr. Facilier animatronic would’ve been crazy! Such a missed opportunity
I know right?
That would have been perfect!
YES! This is what I was expecting! Say what you will about Splash Mountain, but it nailed the anticipation and buildup of fear at that moment.
Just this quick little video builds up more hype and anticipation than what we actually got!
That’s exactly what I expected the big drop to be like
Random guy on RUclips did better than the entire imagineering department lol
I appreciate the compliment!
Fantastic....exactly what I was hoping for when it was getting built. The actual outcome was absolutely underwhelming. Good job!
Thank you!
If they should’ve added that scene it would’ve been the perfect time for me to yell “No! I’m not ready at all!” when I go up the hill
Agreed 100%. This is what i expected when i first saw the concept art!
So much more tension! As it should be!
Crazy they didn't do something like it imo!
@@ThemeParkOgre agreed 100%
I would have stood in line just for the chance to see this. Friends on the Other Side is one of my all-time Disney favorites and it's such unnecessary missed opportunity here, excluding Dr. Facilier. Here's a prime example of how Disney refuses to give fans what they obviously want, and how it would so easy to do. They go through more effort to keep their customers dissatisfied.
Really hoping in a few years we get new management in and they shut this down to upgrade it. There needs to be an entire lead up to the fall where Dr Facilier helps increase the suspense. It's too perfect.
Yeah, I hope this isn't what we're stuck with for the next 30 years
I mean the Re theme was interesting, but whoever gave the no no to Dr. faciller was an idiot. We got no fun climax and just some way to get a cash grab. RIP Splash Mountain except Tokyo.
Lots of potential for a Princess and the Frog ride that sadly went unused
Thank you for this! It makes me feel better to know a lot of people are feeling the same way. This would help the ride so much!
Thank you! Here's hoping they change things up a bit in the future for it!
Someone called it its a small world 2.0 😅
Agreed!
Small World is actually good though! (fight me)
Got to love how Disney's DEI story group thought the voodoo was offensive and then proceeded to have Mama Odie who was a voodoo character now be a fairy god mother! They spend so much time on that and forgot to make a ride. Almost bare...Almost bare... Disney is crazy and they just don't care. Ripped out one of the classic rides and replaced it with trash! Attention please, the pixie dust has left the company!
I know right, it's crazy!
The re theme looks really meh and boring in my opinion. So, I rather the good old splash mountain
Thanks for the great comment TPC, love your stuff!
Agreed, I like the ride but they should’ve gone with this idea rather than Mama Odie telling the guests they’ll make it to the party on time
that’ll give me straight up goosebumps, and a great add on to the ride!
Yes yes yes! I see the vision and concept! This would also bring back a little "scary" factor that has been missing since Tower of Terror got shut down in Disneyland. This ride would be a fan favorite if Disney did this!
This was such an obvious need for the build up to the drop!!! This song is perfect for a drop ride! Come on Disney….
I hope they do a Halloween overlay and use this!!
That would be epic!
THIS WOULD BEEN AMAZING!
wouldn't it be hilarious if the Anaheim one has it as a "last minute addition" and then Florida gets it next year :D
I wish!
@@ThemeParkOgre We'll see about that in D23;)
i think this vidieo was funner than if i rode the real ride. great job!
Thanks!
Here's my idea for the drop:
As you climb up the lift hill, vultures sit perched above you, taunting you. Right before the drop, you see a poor rabbit all tied up, about to be eaten by a fox. But at the last minute, the rabbit tricks the fox into freeing him, throwing him over the waterfall and into the briar patch below. Now THAT would be awesome.
Sounds a bit racist to me! /s
Literally perfect set up and they fumbled like imagine going up and just seeing all the dolls banging the drums like how did they not think of this
This would’ve been awesome! What a missed opportunity!!
I absolutely love how many of us had the same idea for this part of the ride.
Splash Mountain was better
I agree!
You’re supposed to be preparing yourself for the drop, so a sense of danger on the lift prepares you mentally. A surprise drop isn’t a problem but this puts you into too much of a relaxed state
Plus the song is just such a vibe
Agreed!
Yup! It was a big miss for us, too! I am obsessed with your version!! Can we petition Disney??!!
yes please!
@@ThemeParkOgre all in, say I!
Crazy the difference it makes.
Things they should've done:
Do this for the big drop.
Some good points! Odie's Treehouse in the initial concept art for the ride looked so much better
i couldn’t agree more, i legit thought that’s how it was gonna be when the retheme was announced
Keith David's awesome!
So much better!
Yess huge improvement
I feel like Disney needs to do a lay over for the ride for the not so scary Halloween party with this in it. If not they have missed a HUGE opportunity to redeem themselves.
It was the ONE feature that I was banking on to accept the change... ONE!
But no, perfection was denied to us...
Hey! I made a full ridethrough of what I think the ride should have been, and our lift hills were pretty similar! Great minds think alike!
haha, you're right! Great job on your video!
love this
adults would have loved it! Kids would have been terrified lol
Kids who want to go on the ride know the movie.
Funnily enough with the ride height requirement being at least 40” no little kids can ride to begin with. Older kids know the movie and would be less surprised by the drop as opposed to what they did with Mama Odie giving no indication of the 50’ drop. 😒
Due to it being a thrill ride I think most kids would be fine. The Splash lift hill was relatively scary too with that music hehe
I was terrified during the original version of Splash my first time going on it lol, the kids can take it, the fear is the fun part
@@velvettehayes9434 And conquering that fear is the REALLY fun part!
0:15 - 0:18 reminds me of how on Pirates of the Caribbean, they would have that foggy cloud within the beginning of the ride showing a villain's face like Davy Jones or Blackbeard in which you go right through it
That would be awesome and perfect!
Agreed, the ride would have made more sense that way
@@ThemeParkOgre Yep. The first drop would be "Transformation Central" and the final drop would be when the Doctor gets dragged to Hell or just his "friends" singing "Are you ready?".

Missed Opportunity, but it's chill!
Great idea!
Thank you, was fun to make!
Your telling me that a youtuber here made a good idea of a concept then the imagineers at the Walt Disney company unbelievable.
Omg nailed it!
Kids can handle a little tension.
lets hope they upgrade it to this when their ready
Same
Perhaps some day, but I think for the time being we're stuck with the tame, Mama Odie version
Us to the Imagineers every 5 seconds: ARE YOU READY? ARE YOU. REAADDYY???
Complete agree, it was missing an antagonist and I was thinking he would have been great during that lift hill, replace that whole shrinking bit that went no where.
