I really don't get why Raiden chooses to stay with 1 eye, I mean yeah its cool and the bandanna brings back a whole big boss motif (wonder if its snakes?...)but he could easily get a new cybernetic eye just like how he can replace anywhere else on his body. Doesn't make sense to me why he would choose to have a blind spot like that. you'd think in the combat he does he would want both of his eyes working.
From what I can tell, a computer was put into his eye socket, and the visor gives him a wider range of vision than both eyes did when he had a natural pair.

Lol sorry this is a year late, obviously no one who played this trash knows the reason he’s even a cyborg, between mgs 2, and 4 Raiden is kidnapped by the patriots, and they remove his spine, and upper jaw up from his original body, and placed him into the cyborg ninja frame. So he has no lower jaw anymore. In 4 he loses both his arms, but by the end gets his armor removed for a normal body to raise his son with rose.

he still need to eat and drink, so not really a robot at all. He's still pretty much human, they explained that part in the game :)
