    PeCHoO you need way oil for the slides not grease as it picks up metal shavings and wears out the way slides get an oil can with a small applicator tip so you press in the small ball bearing and apply the way oil 👍🏻

    I appreciate the use of screw drivers instead of using a cordless drill/impact for everything. The attention to detail was great to see and, the fact that the video was just showing the labor of love that went into the restoration without any voice overs was great too! Thank you for sharing this with us!

    I don't see any restoration, but rather a thorough cleaning of the lathe. The first step of restoration. Nice cleaning job.

    Looks great! You should be using oil instead of grease on the slides. Also, the contact surfaces for the carriage, cross slide, and compound should have been stoned instead of sanded or wire brushed. Or better yet, precision scraping to true the mating surfaces to each other.

    Meticulously done! I’ve seen a lot of “restores” done but regardless of everything on yours being “in spec” as for tolerances, this one is the cleanest with the most care given to appearance I’ve ever seen. So tired of seeing machines stripped down then painted and reassembled with greasy hands plus the addition of scratches and dings everywhere. Nice job overall, very appealing to the eye! Now run through it with a micrometer and tighten everything up to as new as possible and you’ll have a fine machine for life! (That is IF you’re making rocket ship or medical parts, but don’t worry about it if not😬)
    👍🏼👍🏼 from this guy, thanks for taking us along✌🏼

    Never seen this model. The design appears to borrow a bit from the Myford 7, but with a fair amount of differences, too. Doesn't appear to have a powered cross slide, which is a bummer, but the t-slotted saddle is something that all small lathes should have, but too few do.
    I can see a lot of very good work here.

  • @Andreas-Bauer21
    @Andreas-Bauer21 Год назад +51

    Nicely done, it looks nice again. But disassembling, cleaning, painting, assembling, is not a restoration. There are dozens of these types of "restoration" videos on RUclips, but there is no real restoration involved. How about the play, the sag of the bed, the alignment from various parts, the alignment, the precision and so on... As far as I can tell, this is now a sexy looking lathe, which can still deliver poor results..

    • @tayyabsafdar7069
      @tayyabsafdar7069 Год назад +7

      Restoring is, back to original with little changes and repairs of broken parts or making and getting new parts specialy the worn out ones..
      If its precion is still not like the new, then it is just cleaning and re painting. Restoring a lathe is not that easy.

    • @vandalsgarage
      @vandalsgarage 11 месяцев назад +3

      Building back to original specs is a remanufacture. Stripping it down, cleaning, repairing or replacing anything that needs it, then reassembling, adjusting for correct operation, painting and detailing is a restoration.

  • @ПавелВикторовичь-в6ц

    не плохой косметический ремонт станка, наждачными дисками чистить направляющие, за это надо по рукам на давать.

    • @SergiuAndreev

      Нужен второй фильм о том, как автор следующие уже 500 часов провел всякие доводки, балансировки, выравнивания, снял люфты... Но это может не для домашнего обывателя. По рукам давать не надо, лучше добрым словом и советом.

    This was s nice video about how to clean and re-paint your lathe. I am of the opinion that you likely could have saved around 50 hours if you had used paint stripper instead of that darn grinder/sander! That was a lot of wasted labor. Also, cleaning the ways with a grinder/sander could cause damage and errors on the ways. A flat iron or piece of granite with 1000 grit paper and oil would have been a better choice. Even so, it appears that it is working so, all's well that ends well.
    Thank you for sharing.

    If you need a new variable speed pulley, Speed Selector makes pulleys that replace the Reeves, Hi-Lo, TB Woods and Lovejoy pulleys that went out of business or got bought. Most are in stock or Speed Selector will custom make if needed. They have an actual engineering department; very helpful.
