Nonsense. No wonder people don’t want to fool with cast iron. I want to eat my meal and then worry about cleaning. Just wipe as much as you can with a paper towel and just wash in the hot soapy water like any other hand washed item. Rinse, dry, and put away. No need to oil the clean pan. The seasoning protects against rust.
@ besides if your cast iron needs soap then it is not seasoned properly. A tiny bit of soap once in awhile is okay butnyou should never full on wash your pan with soap
@ Nonsense, the grease and residual food left in your pan is not seasoning. The seasoning is very tough, so tough that it takes lye or electrolysis to remove it. The non stick is on the cook. You should be able to fry an egg without sticking in an unseasoned pan or a stainless steel one. So it’s you that evidently has such poor seasoning that soap will destroy it.
@ not nonsense google it. Small amount of soap occasionally is okay but overuse of soap strips pan or seasoning. I actually ruined my first pan from washing with soap

If the food is dried on I always like to let water soak in it to loosen things up before scrubbing.
Going to try this on my next pan cleanup tonight. You have taught me a lot on your channel. My pans are in great condition, getting used daily.
