I am about to buy the vitara this weekend and cant decide if I will get a 2wd or awd. This convinced me that I only need 2wd! Excellent video! You just saved me a few thousand $!!!
@@jerrymyahzcat Meh, i drive a lot, all over Europe, allyear round, and I have a prety heavy foot. The 2wd vitara is more than good enough. I drove both in most conditions foreseeable. I wouldn't pay extra for extra complexity and fragility and not much benefit. Good tires are the main factor.
Great video and excellent driving. I have a Vitara 2WD 1.0 and it dissapointed me twice. The first was in the snow in Athens this winter. When it started to snow I stopped at a small uphill crossroad and then it was impossible to start, because of the spinning of the front wheels. I had to go back. The second time, last weekend . I was driving beside the beach and there was a lot of sand in the road and then it was stuck. I had to call for assistance. Both situations were humiliated since other people passing by the asked me how I was stuck and etc. Now I am afraid to go off road and I am not thinking about situations that you presented.
Great driving, I have to say though I find that on long steep unpaved hills the front wheel drive is no good once the vehicle looses momentum the wheel looses grip, I am about to get a Vitara but I am looking for the RWD.
I own a Suzuki Vitara FWD Automatic, it's my favorite toy, economic, light but powerful, we go anywhere with or without a road. Thank you for your video.
i have one of this car, and i tested it with some light trails and mud but with the esp is on, but without esp i never tried it. the engine is good, suspension handled some bumps very well, in our country i hate they put an ancient model of android head unit, super slow, lag us happening all the time and the reverse cam is just shutdown for no reason.
Thanks for the video..I think the hard part is hill climbing because all weight goes to the rear which does not have any power. I tried 2wd in Vic high country but almost always fail when hill climbing.
It's a good video but the audio isn't clear enough because of the wind. Could you please tell me which engine this car has? It's 1L or 1.4L turbo engine?
It drives good. I have gotten a crv 2wd because my wife does not like vitaras lol. Do you think a honda CRV 2016 2.4 will be fine in similar trails? And we should use Low gear right?
Hi, I have a question, I drive the car mainly in the city sometimes on the highway. Twice a year, a trip to the lake, a few kilometers of gravel road. Do I need a vitary 2wd or 4x4?
Is that MT, Mud Terrain or Manual Transmission and is AT, All Terrain or Auto Transmission? Auto is almost always best these days as modern autos are superior to human.
Yes, You can turn off ESP on Vitara 2023. I have 4x4 BoosterJet 129HP MHEV model with manual transmission and it is amazing, what car can do in offroad. In mode SNOW+LOCK+ESP OFF is almost unstopable.
@@L2SFBC I was unable to find what BTC stands for and Vitara spec sheet doesn't include it. Do you know if there is a way to find out if a Vitara that I'm planning to buy has this feature? Is there any alternative name for this system? My current Suzuki SX4 does not have it, and it is very annoying to get stuck on a tiny piece of ice while another wheel is on a dry surface.
No, the FWD car needs some clearance, to be light, some torque at low revs, and a forward weight distribution (see how the car often balances on the front wheels). A Corolla for example wouldn't manage it, fails on all three counts.
@@L2SFBC I have a Grand Vitara now plus an 2 door Range Rover 1978. Due to covid i cannot go off-road. I have been so many times off-road in FWD cars and pick-ups so nothing special about that. Old Renault 4 and 2CV's go everywhere. Its no rocket sience. Look on youtube, there is a guy in France that goes extreme off-road in a FWD peugeot 205 diesel. Just mud tires and full power. This video of the Vitara is cool but it was dry sand and mud. Go off-road in wet mud and it will get bogged down. I work in deserts and locals drive 2 wheel drive pick-ups further then everybody else.
Yes the 2CV and 4 are great! Light, flexible suspension, good clearance. Unlike the average modern 2WD. And yes quite agree the terrain made it easier being dry.
@@L2SFBC hehe this car can make other auto makers feel like they have a small one.. You know.. They can't or won't like an underdog to be better than their makeup ridden suvs of the same class.. And I bet this machine will also last longer no matter how much you abuse it.. I own one and in some muddy conditions on a hilly and Rocky terrain I left the part time 4x4 behind with good tyres of course.. If I had asbused my wife like I abused my vitara she would have filled for divorce already.. But this vitara has a good heart.. Doesn't make your head or wallet bleed BTW my wife also loves it less spending on a car and she can get to shopping on amazon 🤪🤪🤪
As an owner one of these, the way it handled the course really surprised me. Some very skillful driving there. Well done!
Thanks 👍
I never would've expected that to do as well as it did :) good video

Get AWD anyway as it’s always better even though 2WD is very good with this vehicle. You’ll be much more stable in the wet and gravel with AWD.

Bloody hell that's a 2wd .. Amazing driver
Thanks :-)
2WD is actually a lot more capable than most people think especially FWD!
The best fwd (2wd) how to video and excellent example of very capable Suzuki and a pro driver
Thank you 🙏
Glad you liked it! Please share :-)
If you look at vitara's under belly its pretty well built.

Sorry to hear that. Reducing tyre pressures to 15psi would have helped in both situations.
What a car! ❤
Surprisingly capable!

Great video! Really showcases what the car can do. Acrobatics!
Thanks!
Most 2wd vehicles with adequate ground clearance and traction control will handle this type of terrain, it's mainly sand dunes that screw them up.
Also muddy ones...
Thanks for the video..I think the hard part is hill climbing because all weight goes to the rear which does not have any power. I tried 2wd in Vic high country but almost always fail when hill climbing.
Yep!
Are these Vitaras reliable? do the turbos give trouble in the 1.4 engines?
Did you deflate the tyres ? What pressure did you use it ? Thanks amazing video , I have an Honda hrv 2016 2wd and I was driving in sand last year
No, road pressures.
It's a good video but the audio isn't clear enough because of the wind.
Could you please tell me which engine this car has? It's 1L or 1.4L turbo engine?
1.4L
Thanks, do you think the 1L engine has enough power to go on same places as in your video?
Yes the 1.0L works as well.
1.6 manual just as capable donu think ?
It drives good. I have gotten a crv 2wd because my wife does not like vitaras lol. Do you think a honda CRV 2016 2.4 will be fine in similar trails? And we should use Low gear right?
CR-V won't be as good, but give it a crack, and yes all that was first gear only
Can you share the tires you used? Is it stock? Or fitted with all terrain tires?
Stock
great skill! is this one with a stick, or automatic box? ESP should be on or off, while doing off-road?
Automatic and yes ESP off
This road i will drive smart

2WD would be fine.
Hello Robert, a stupid question: in general a MT or AT is better for off-road on this kind of terrain?
MT
Is that MT, Mud Terrain or Manual Transmission and is AT, All Terrain or Auto Transmission? Auto is almost always best these days as modern autos are superior to human.
Sorry I meant mud terrain. Autos beat manuals these days.
Good video terrible audio! But thank you!
Hi, is this vitara lifted? Or the original 185mm?
Also, do you know if i can turn esp off with the new vitara? (Hybrid 2023)
Stock standard! And don't know sorry
Thank you
Yes, You can turn off ESP on Vitara 2023. I have 4x4 BoosterJet 129HP MHEV model with manual transmission and it is amazing, what car can do in offroad. In mode SNOW+LOCK+ESP OFF is almost unstopable.
Where can I get the transcription of the video? (Im not an english speaker)
There isn't one, but if I can answer questions....please ask!
What kind of wheels did you use?
Stock standard wheels and tyres
If one of the front wheels is lifted. Will ESP apply brakes and send torque to the wheel with traction?
BTC does that not ESP

hello, this is the 2wd version?
Yes
You can do this with any FWD car, the track is easy and dry.
No, the FWD car needs some clearance, to be light, some torque at low revs, and a forward weight distribution (see how the car often balances on the front wheels). A Corolla for example wouldn't manage it, fails on all three counts.
