It was the US Olympic committee that did not want US Pro Athletes in the Olympics. Not the Olympics themselves.

So the year before this we had been sending our college all stars to compete in the Olympics. Then as you hear in the beginning when the college kids took bronze and everyone was chanting USA sucks . MJ, Magic, Barkley, Bird and all them got together and decided to get a pro team together in the Olympics. As you can see they dominated every team

This is the first year that the US used pros, we only sent college. The other countries used their pros.
Please pause video when discussing. The video was explaining the Tony Kukoc situation. But all I could hear was Jordan & Pippen going after him because Bulls GM was pursuing Tony. Sounded like they were jealous?
These two don't shut up because they seem to think they know more than reality.
USA vs Croatia... Toni Kukoc was drafted by the Bulls and the Bulls General Manager, Jerry Krause, was praising Kukoc. Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan didn't like that so clamped down on Kukoc in their first matchup to prove a point to Jerry Krause. Kukoc earned their respect in the 2nd matchup and helped the Bulls with their 2nd 3-peat.
11:15 that guy is TONY KUKOC .. drafted by the chicago bulls before this game happened, he was once of the most important piece of MJ bulls dynasty! a 6'10 SF that can do everything!! regarded as one of the best 6th man of all time.. in tis particular game! his seniors from chicago bulls decided to welcome him by giving him hell for the entire team .. his bulls teamates, MJ & pippen decided to guard him alternately for the whole game .. psychos😅
The college teams weren’t butt cheeks, they were playing against professional athletes. US was using college players only.
1. clyde was 30, not 38.
2. the olympics are 100% what they’ve always been. an honor. the reason why steph wasnt playing was injuries. lebron played 2004, 2008, 2012. he didnt play 2016 because he was burnt out from literally never getting a break AND he didnt want to go to brazil. our best available always go. 2020 olympics were a little weak because of covid.
3. tony kukoc was already signing with the bulls. the entire point of MJ and pippen locking him down was to spite their GM. go watch the last dance.

And Barkley was "listed" as 6'6". He was really about 6"4". There's video out there of 6'6" Dan Marjerle (Suns teammate) talking about how Charles was 2 inches shorter. And... if you don't know "Thunder" Dan Marjerle, you should.
The Dream Team set a goal of never calling a time out, and they never did. They wanted to make a statement that they were simply on another level than any other country's team.

6ft 6 inches tall is generous for Charles Barkley alot of peopole said he was only 6ft 4 in real life
Im kinda young so I never saw him play in real time but I always thought he was like 6'9/6'10 dude sure played like he was 6'10
I have met Charles in person at Auburn football games a couple of times, and he is absolutely only 6'4". I'm 6'4", and we are exactly the same height.
He was undersized for his position and played like he had a chip on his shoulder to prove he was the best power forward, at any height. A round mound of rebound.
This dream team was set up to play European pro teams.

USA should have the most talented basketball team in the planet .. but most of the best players dont wann play for team USA, for many reason .. but they'll play the next tournament BECAUSE THEYVE LOST LAST TIME .. USA SHOULD NOT HAVE LOST!! IT SHOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE FOR THEM TO LOSE ...
I watched this because I never saw this ten minute version. I am old and saw it live. This really wasn't worth watching, sorry. Not because of you two but there is so much good stuff left out.
