Wow !! Brian its you at your best and with your wife matching you with the best coverage on RUclips, Love the attention to detail in the unbox. Please don't change your format its the BEST
I wrote to you previously regarding difficulties landing the 70mm and you gave me some really good advice on landing it more successfully. You also noted that the 90mm lands better. I can't tell you how correct you are! This plane flies and lands like butter! This is my absolute favorite plane right now! I sold that 70mm and never looked back! Thanks for everything Brian and Camera Crew!
Just found your channel a few weeks ago. I’m back in the hobby after a couple decades of work/life getting in the way. I saw a few timestamps of multiple hours and thought who would watch those? Apparently me. I find myself binging your longer videos. I’ve clicked way too many of your links and bought way too many planes, that I know I’m not ready to fly. But with back orders and remote ID looming I figured, why not? Just wanted to tell you I appreciate your content. Your deep dives into setups and reviews of these planes are great.
Never thought I’d say this to you. You’ve helped me on so many planes I’ve lost count. Foam repair, transmitter setup, if I go way back- “Why CG is important”, and why Dual Rates can do for you.” So I’m surprised in all the videos you didn’t mention the Eflite 90mm Viper was a big Trainer. After the uneventful maiden I tried to make fly like crap. I moved the 5000 and 6000 batteries all over the battery bay. Just flies straight and level. I’ve never own a plane or edf that was as easy to land. This edf was designed for people who have lost the will to live. It’s the first plane I’ve owned you can actually fly and make your turns using one hand.
Brian ix12 and 20 pictures are sent from your phone etc via Bluetooth to radio no camera on them then you can take pictures from gallery on your radio and choose as your model picture love my ix12 so easy to programme models keep up your great videos.
I got the ARF version because I have the Frsky radio with the extras with the GPS, Variometer and LED lipo monitor. I got the FMS 90mm fan. If I could figure out getting reverse thrust with my radio it would be great. You are one of four people I follow on RUclips.
Hello Brian and camera crew I just want to tell you both thank you for all the time you guys put into the channel. I have learned so much from the channel I am a new pilot and without your channel I would of quit the hobby already. Now maybe you all ready know this but you can set the NX 8 back to its original style keyboard before this recent software upgrade. You need to go into system setup and scroll down to system setting and press enter then scroll down to next and press enter then scroll down to keyboard and select Legacy. And I can't take credit for this I saw a video made by BD Tennesse here on RUclips.
Firstly, welcome and thanks for being here and a part of our channel. Yes, thanks, we did figure out how to change back to the Legacy Keyboard. Sometimes we have these "early releases" for a while before we can publish our content...which was the case on this plane too, so since we had this plane RIGHT after the software update, we hadn't yet figured it out. One of our subscribers mentioned it though ;)
Liked the Viper90 so much I bought another one ARF. Since I never mentally matured past the age of 15 I thought to myself, “How could you make the Viper90 even better? MORE POWER!” I put the FMS Platinum 90mm 4075-kv1500 and the 130 amp Avian ESC. Not sure which was my EDF OF THE YEAR 2022 was. It’s a toss up- Viper90, or the Futura v3, or the FMS 80mm Bae Hawk. All three at the field on the same day is as good as it gets.
I have to agree - three GREAT picks. I LOVE the flight characteristics, and the fact that you can slow them ALL down with flaps OR flare...OR BOTH ;) What a great group of amazing fliers! P.S. If I don't mention it enough, AS3X/SAFE definitely edges out the Reflex V2. While being totally acceptable in stabilization mode, the Reflex V2 is less well refined, and it shows more in auto-leveling mode. I don't use SAFE or Auto Leveling except essentially to show it off for the new pilots and "Prove" it will work, but the stab - I almost always fly with stabilizer of some form. Glad if someone's wanting to keep to a slightly lower price point, they can squeeze a few bucks off the price, but also and more importantly, for Futaba and OpenTx users - this is UUUUGE ;)
What a save!!!! That was great!!!! You know what they say , “Any landing you walk away from is a good landing. Any landing where you can use the airplane again, is a great landing!!!!
I couldn't believe how lucky the bounce was!!! I have EXACTLY enough roll authority to correct at that speed. I bet I could try it 100 times in a row and crash all 100 times if I were asked to do it again ;)
YES. It's sooooo good ;) This plane is just so much better put together than the 70mm, but I LOVE flying the 70mm too!!! Just wish the landing gear on the 70mm was more like the FMS Yak 130 (we're JUST getting that review worked up)
Brian.. suggestion why not put a painted line on viper mains (or any similar model) then when you have to mend them back it will help guide you getting them straight . It helped me when I had to straighten mine
I was “clenching” myself on that first landing attempt! Great save and man you were ripping the skies! I’m in on this plane! I’ll use your link! Love your vids
@BrianPhillipsRC WEIRD!!!! Got home from my hobby store at 1am with my new Viper 90mm BNF basic and fired up this video for another exciting episode of “Build a New Plane with Brian”. Excitedly took the plane box out of the brown cardboard box and instantly noticed the large white sticker 5x4 inches that says, ”DEMO ONLY NOT FOR RESALE”. It’s now past 2am so not gonna build it as bad as I want to until I get some feedback. THOUGHTS????
Hey Brian, thank you SO MUCH for those first two landings! They weren't horrible- they were real and we learned from them. I do silly, fun, hopefully interesting ham radio vids, and I keep it real. I'm Blowzo the Humble Ham. lol. Take care! Awesome flying and camera work guys- thank you :)
Rather than fiddling with Mix to neutralize the reverse thrust in the middle position I have found it easier to go to Digital Switch and adjusting the percentages there for each position (did it this way for Timber Evolution). Also, I assign a voice command for each switch position used and review that before connecting the plane battery since not all planes will be identical but agree, they should be as much the same as possible. While flying and changing a switch I find it helpful that it announces the new setting which confirms I got the right switch. The NX transmitters are great. Not sure this Viper would work well off our grass field though. Otherwise pretty impressive!
She'll do great on grass ;) Obviously BETTER on pavement, but I did change my switch settings a bit. I was going to try the "Digital Switch Settings" next time to see how well it works.
I plan to get the F-15 64mm and fly that for a while. Next I plan to get this, the A-10 twin 64mm or the F-16 80mm.(all of which are in stock now). This and the A-10 are probably the easier fliers. Marking center of gravities is similar to figuring out datums in the surveying world lol. I always draw a picture when in doubt and for future reference.
Brian…Oh my my. I do believe my heart skipped a beat back there somewhere. lol. Awesome recovery and I was amazed of your self control. This Bad boy is big enough for real brakes i do believe. Common Horizon, Step up to the plate. I mean, all the fancy tech in these birds now. They can do it especially since we’re paying $$ for it anyway 😁. Great job my friend. Kudos to Camera Crew. Spot on! ❤️
@@BrianPhillipsRC I know you will my friend. Your landing strip has it challenges with high speed aircraft but at the same time it forces you to hone your skills as a pilot. Don’t forget, piloting is not just when you are just flying.. I’m not telling you anything you don’t already know. 😉👊👍
I think they added the capacitor because of the reverse thrust, when you go from forward to reverse with rotational mass, amperage goes thru the roof and voltage can drop to very low output..
Not on the other Avian equipped planes with Thrust Reverse...I think it's the size and power loading of the servos ;) Either way, wish we had them on all the stabilized Rx'es...that would be cheap insurance.
It's back in stock and I bought it Brian. Another one for the Hangar from watching your videos. Love the content you and Meagan continue to put out. Thanks.
Thanks Oliver! Glad you did... the F-15 is super fun, and you want to watch out for Trees on your maiden, something I didn't do so well with - LOL!!!! ;)
I've watched a number of videos on the Viper 90mm from various people. The only issue I've seen with it is that it has a Very abrupt stall characteristic. It appears that the outer wing stalls before the inboard part of the wing, and the wing suddenly drops. In Brian's video you can see this at 5:02 when landing. Brian does a great job of recovering. Wish Horizon Hobby would modify the airfoil....... As a side note, with many single engine propeller aircraft (like Cessna's and Piper's) it is very common to pull up the nose slightly while landing and stall just inches off the ground. With high-performance aircraft, one literally flies the aircraft on to the runway. This is one of the most difficult issues many pilots have when transitioning to high-performance aircraft.......
Thanks you Brian for your helpful videos and instructions on different R/C airplanes I'm so glad to find a fellow Iowans from the Des Moines Area on RUclips. I too used to live in the Des Moines Area. (Ankeny, IA.) Anyways I'm used to Be in the R/C world but getting back into it again. It's been 13 years since I used to be flying R/C Airplanes. Back when they were mostly gas powered. Anyways I just wanted to say thank you again for all your helpful information here. Keep up the good work!
AWESOME! Glad you're taking back to the skies, we were in Ankeny until our move to the country about 2 years ago. The new tech is amazing, but it's also a steep learning curve, and a lot of TERRIBLE choices out there too...so please do let us help you decide, when you're ready. I kinda love everything, unless it's really bad - LOL - you might find, but we do have a lot of exposure to many different planes and can help you when you're ready to make some decision. Good luck, and we're here for you when you have questions, or if you're just trying to catch up! Welcome!
@@BrianPhillipsRC Thanks you so much Brian Phillips, Awesome Brian that you used to live in Ankeny too. I live there for 16 years there. I left there in 2017 and have now live in Ocala, FL. So I can fly all year around now. LOL! Anyways, I'm looking at the Spektrum ix12 for my Transmitter and for planes I want the E-flite Ultimate 3D and the UMX Night Vapor for indoors flying. And yes I have flown before too. It's just been awhile. So is that a good choice? And I will be buying from your link to Horizon Hobby so I can support you as you have always mention in your videos. I do want the DARCO 2.0mm but I know I'm not ready for that and I would not want to crash such an Awesome plane.
My underwear got sucked up on that first landing attempt!! Yikes!!! Camera Crew displays ultimate calm..... (Or silent shock disbelief! :) Always enjoy your videos and enthusiasm!
Love your content. I know your videos are long which is great but wishe you would slow down just a little with radio setup for us newbies to the newer radios. I'm experienced with older 72mhz radios, lol
Keep with us, William! We're trying to strike the balance between "too slow" and "too fast" - but you can actually slow me down or speed me up with the "GEAR ICON" and there's a "PLAYBACK SPEED" and the audio will keep working, even if I sound like Fat Albert, or a Chipmunk - LOL ;)
Hey Brian I love your videos I have loved RC planes since I was a kid and and went away from them because there wasn't enough help for me when I was young so I went rc car racing and then woodworking and allsorts so Ihave come back to rc planes and your videos are very helpfull I love the banter between you and your wife right now I am getting up the courage to move from my AEROSCOUT to my new eflite P47-Razorback keep up the good work love the long video but you can have a rest a couple of sort one's would be okay too 😁.
You are EXACTLY who we're trying to reach!!! Thanks for being here and we hope we'll be able to help you over the humps....but remember, if you KNOW how to fly, even from a long time ago - THAT IS THE HARD PART...you might be in pretty good shape! Either way, there is a STEEP learning curve, and we're here to help you out! Thanks for stopping in again!
Hey Brian, first off i absolutely love you and "camera crew" LOL....as im waiting for my NX8 i was wondering if you have figured out how to use safe with the flaps switch like viper 70mm,,, i can get it to work but only with flaps up, when i deploy flaps it turns safe off, tried reversing the servo, also reversing the flaps settings... THANK YOU BOTH for all that yall do!!!
Rebuilding a Viper 90mm. Forgot to take a pic of the set up. Can any help me with where the AUX BEC from the ESC goes and the lights connector. Any pics would be appreciated. Thanks!
Thanks for pointing out all the fine detail of this new EDF. My question is....why don't we see the brown out prevention capacitor on all these big models and could it be purchased from HH for use in any of their planes?
Probably because this one was extra susceptible? I don't know, but you can get them for other planes. I know they've been including them in A3 flight controller / stabilizers for years, so not sure why on this plane all of a sudden. Has something to do with slightly larger air frame and larger servos
Thank you for a quick response to my questions...I think I'll set them up in all my 6s high current planes....seems like cheap insurance....I love you channel and your display of passion and knowledge for all of us involved in this great hobby...TY Lee
Looks sweet. I love the Viper shape of the wings and overall appear to be super great. I wish there was a 4s Viper as I don’t want to step into 6s batteries.
Easy sweet build. In a few years I'll bet all planes will just snap together, no hardware, no tools, just simplicity. Hopefully the snap together parts will be easily replaceable too.
Wow NIIIICE save Brian I know that puckered your ole bung hole a bit 😂 I would have hit the fence bounced off and hit every tree insight lol Awesome Jet for sure Nice flying Brian Great job as always Camera Crew 🔥👍✌️
Oh no, not the Su-30! Really enjoyed this (amongst many of your other) videos. Always enjoyable and informative. Thanks for sharing from end to start to finish! : )
Sal - We're very glad to have you here with us. Welcome! hope you'll stick around and get caught up - the learning curve is steep, but don't be discouraged! We're here to help you along!
I'm a machinist i deal with #s everyday and i understand both of you guy's, but got confused. 🤣 Brian nice plane i have a few jets it's on my list if i do definitely from your site. Now in Muncie 1st time without buddy box Rebel 70mm 4s....flew and landed. Yeah...2 nd flight landing short of the runway ouch. I'll repair before i beat up my others. Not sure if my tip will be fixable even with the plastic missing chunk of foam and integrity. Jets land fast i need alot more practice...
Hey Brian, great video. Are you suggesting we measure CG with the plane upside down and with the gear extended or measure CG with the plane right side up with the gear extended?
I think the MFG wants us to check it upside down with gear down...but I kinda just wing it on EDF jets anymore...I just want the CG back as far as possible for great flare possibility without causing it to fly poorly.
@@BrianPhillipsRC Thanks Brian, sorry to waste your time on that question. I swear I did not see this in the manual but I looked again and yep it’s there, thanks again!
Just got mine last week, getting ready for first flight. The pilot now has no mustache....also one of the elevator servos was NOT reversed so they work opposite each other (like rollerons). I contacted Horizon but no joy as yet from them. So first flight is delayed until they can get me a replacement/fix. Brian, a couple of critiques on your radio setup section: First off it was helpful and appreciated. But I did find it hard to follow as you digress too much during the explanations with other comments or observations that are not germane to what is being taught/demonstrated. It also helps if you go a bit more slowly. I know we can pause/rewind but it does help as these are critical radio setups. (for example it took me a bit to figure out that you had to enter the SMART ESC setup right after connecting the battery....you can't get to the ESC programming menu after the ESC has completed it's initialization) Also when you demo'd the reverse thrust it was like you were learning it as you filmed. It would be better to learn it then film once you have the steps down and can demo them in the correct order and edit out the 'learning' you experienced. Just makes it easier to follow. Keep up the great work. A few guys in the club are familiar with your reviews.
Wow - the elevators are defecting opposite - that's terrible!!! If you get tired of waiting for HH to get back to you, there's two things you can do in the mean time... 1) Pull the servo and open it up and then swap any two of three wires on the FEEDBACK pot, and swap the motor leads...this will effectively make the servo into a reverse servo. 2) Put one of these in series with one or the other elevator servos... Servo Signal Reverser (Horizon Hobby) bit.ly/3B9nVpT Servo Signal Reverser (Amazon) amzn.to/3bpECDf Servo Signal Reverser (Banggood) bit.ly/3tkn9yN ....I've done both on separate projects in the past to remedy such an issue.
As for your question about if we were learning how to setup the REVERSE THRUST when you watched us on this video - yeah, and you may not know this, but we had the plane BEFORE the tech specs came out. We were figuring it out (About the same time as the tech guys at EFlite - this was an early release for us)
@@BrianPhillipsRC all good. I got it set up and used it on my Viper90 maiden this past weekend. The other pilots at the field were suitable impressed with it and want it for their EDF's now.
@@BrianPhillipsRC I want to buy it just to listen to it. Sounds awesome, looks like it flies fantastic. In fact I haven't heard a bad thing about any of their 90mm models. So my birthday is coming. Lol
Brian so I set up the reverse thrust using ESC programming. Do I have to engage engine breaking at #7 for this Viper like the Turbo Timber Evolution? Thanks in advance. Great video as usual! 🙂✈️ 🚀
You can make the assignment in the ESC programming - follow my steps toward the end of the radio setup. You can use I think channels 5-9 if I'm remembering right.
@@BrianPhillipsRC lol, yeah... I think that's the craziest bounce recovery I've ever seen! And you got it on camera! Lol. I had someone hand launch an ft viggen for me once that caught the elevon on release causing an immediate barrel roll and somehow i recovered and took off. Didn't have video but at least had witnesses lol
I almost bought the 70mm a couple of months ago but held off and bought some other planes. Now I am ready fora first EDF. Would this be ok as a first jet or stick with the 70mm?
Actually, since this one has more robust landing gear, it might JUST beat the 70mm out...BUT you will want to have a pretty HUGE environment for flying this plane, since it's BIG. I don't want to give you bad advice, but really, your budget makes the difference on this one...if you can crash an destroy a $700 plane and sleep at night, then this plane is NOT an issue....BUT if you're more inclined to be nervous as heck, like I would be, then maybe do the Habu SS or STS 70mm, or the F-15 64mm (Great easier choice). There's also a few other great choices that might be a bit more economical that would have you loving the plane while you advance through the ranks, like the F-16 70mm... Honestly, it all depends on what you think of your skills, how your budget will handle the hit, and where you fly - the latter being the most important. If you fly from an aircraft carrier like me, you will wish you got the 70mm first, but if you're flying from a 750 foot long X 100 foot wide runway with 3 miles of clearing to and from the strip - get the 90mm and love it right away ;)
@@BrianPhillipsRC thanks. That is exactly what I need. I’m pretty indecisive and hearing all of the possible pros and cons actually made this easier. I have a huge field to fly at but my skills are advanced beginner (1 year of flying once or twice a week) and I think the Habu SS is a great choice. I didn’t think of that one but I’m glad you did.
Just answered on another comment ;) same answer here, FYI ;) ... Sure, there's a bunch of good choices, but if you're talking about SECOND, what was your first? I have to assume the Habu 70mm??? I'd say the 64mm F-15 bit.ly/30RrnlG , or the 70mm F16 bit.ly/3bUUxXv (not the 80mm - that's way too hard for a second EDF).
Are they bound up at all (even a little)??? If so, make sure you back off the throw some, or free them up. This would be the only thing I could see causing this type of issue. They run at a higher than average BEC voltage, on this size class, and that can cause some additional heat, BUT only if there's load...
Sorry Martin, I can't say, since I get rid of the boxes right after we film. If you look close at the unbox, build, and radio setup video, you can see the box in that video....but I don't go over the size of the box (but sometimes it's printed on the outside???)
They also make an AR630, but for ~ $5 more - I'll get the antenna on an AR631 ;) I have a 4Ch and 6Ch air receiver, but since I want SAFE/AS3X, largely to share with our audience, but also, I WANT AS3X, even when it's NOT needed...so I have only used the 6Ch, AR620 in one plane, and I wish I would have put in an AR631 or an AR630. Horizon Hobby claims they have just as good range, but I don't believe it. I will only use it on a small plane, or something I can RUN AFTER - LOL ;)
Hi Brian, I been trying to follow your instruction on adding reverse on my new viper 90 but my NX8 won't get passed the first step up elev left ailr I get no responds. Plane is bound and I try as soon as I connect the battery. any suggestions will help. Thanks, John
On mixed flight what air time did you get on a 5200mah? I hope its more than the 2.30min the SU-30 offered. On a windy day the SU-30 might only get 2min which is not enough. What air time did you get on the 7000mah. Great work on the channel as well!
Just a suggestion concerning the length of the videos…how about one just focusing on the flying of the model and another demonstrating the radio setup? I’m new to the RC world and the radio setup and terms used are new to me. A slower, more explanatory setup would be useful to me. Love the videos though. Keep up the good work! DG
Doug, first off, welcome, and thanks for being here with us! I realize this video is a lot to take in, and we want to help you as you work your way through the ranks of RC aircraft, but please hear my response in the way I mean to say it... This plane is not a beginner plane. We do a LOT of beginner planes though, and thoes videos are WAY more explanatory, like the one about to come out covering the Apprentice 1.2m RTF (GREAT BEGINNER PLANE). We talk about just about everything. You would learn a lot more from that, than this, about a more advanced plane. We have to kinda take queues from the plane we're building, since we really don't actually know who's gonna be watching. Hope this helps, and if you weren't already aware, we've got thousands of videos up to help you along your way, BUT I can say our newer footage is better quality, and we cover things with a higher level of accuracy, since I'm getting better with this stuff myself. You have to keep in mind I'm also a fairly new RC pilot (about 6 years), but not new to electronics, and controls, or teaching technical things. If you want some GOOD starters, here's a short list...and keep in mind, we have re-reviewed some of these, and the NEW (formally Mini...now it's just the) 1.2m Apprentice, will be released real soon with updates to the radio. I am somewhat new to the r/c game and recently bought an NX8, can you please explain the LT and RT trim tabs? I cant seem to find info on their function... thanks in advance
They can be used to trim control channels that aren't attached to the main sticks, since they already have trim buttons. If you don't need them, don't worry too much, you can use them for custom mixes, but since they're in a weird spot, I'd avoid using them unless it ground based adjustments....but just my 2 cents.
@@BrianPhillipsRC Interesting. I've never used caps, but wonder if I need them in my higher servo count models. What's the capacity in the one installed on the Viper?
the cool thing about the jet that control horn ohready install everything all it need put the wing on that all that why i like about that people buy more then any other rc plane jet is the best

I bet I could try it 100 times in a row and crash all 100 times if I were asked to do it again ;)
love the way it slows down to a crawl !!
True!
The ARF+ includes all of the servos and the retracts. What it does not include is the EDF unit, motor or ESC.
Ohhhh - shooooooot - I'm sorry, and thanks for catching my mis-speak. Not intentional, and sorry for the confusion.
After i get the viper 70 and get really good with it this is totally gonna be my fav jet. Wild plane
YES. It's sooooo good ;)
This plane is just so much better put together than the 70mm, but I LOVE flying the 70mm too!!! Just wish the landing gear on the 70mm was more like the FMS Yak 130 (we're JUST getting that review worked up)
I've seen this video too, and I find it amazing, I'll never get tired of seeing them 😁😁😁😁😁
Very cool!
Had me on the edge of my seat with that save Brian WOW!! That was the save of a lifetime
LOL - Thanks! Lucky, not good ;)

Brian.. suggestion why not put a painted line on viper mains (or any similar model) then when you have to mend them back it will help guide you getting them straight . It helped me when I had to straighten mine
I was “clenching” myself on that first landing attempt! Great save and man you were ripping the skies! I’m in on this plane! I’ll use your link! Love your vids
LOL - I also had to change them out - LOL!!! Great plane - you NEED IT!
@BrianPhillipsRC
WEIRD!!!!
Hobby store said they all came with that. Doesn’t mean anything. 👌
Thanks ;) I'm glad you enjoyed it. I want to grease it in every time, but this was for real ;)
The super large battery compartment and wide speed envelope are major pluses!
Awesome Show BP!
Two Hours of Pure Delight too.
Unreal stuff thanks Ace, now this Toy I Want.
Thanks Jono!!!
Best save ever Brian! Few could have pulled it off.
I was just 100% super duper lucky!!!!!
I love the Viper design, and this one is epic
It is beautiful!
Spot on! ❤️
I love it. I need to practice some more, but getting better ;) I'll get the landings down a lot.
@@BrianPhillipsRC I know you will my friend. Your landing strip has it challenges with high speed aircraft but at the same time it forces you to hone your skills as a pilot. Don’t forget, piloting is not just when you are just flying..
I’m not telling you anything you don’t already know. 😉👊👍
WOW, amazing flying and video your camera crew is amazing capturing that so well!
Thanks a lot! Megan is good!!! So glad she's here to help film
The sound is amazing.
Totally is!
It's back in stock and I bought it Brian. Another one for the Hangar from watching your videos. Love the content you and Meagan continue to put out. Thanks.
Awesome! Thank you!
You will love it!
I decided to pick up the f-15 from one of your links. Hope to see more vids soon, loving the channel and all the great tips.
Thanks Oliver! Glad you did... the F-15 is super fun, and you want to watch out for Trees on your maiden, something I didn't do so well with - LOL!!!! ;)
Can’t believe this video is 2yrs old. Nearly exactly what I needed. Thank you. Sub’d. sent email.
I thought that you could let go off the bind button once it blinks. It will stay on bind mode
You might be able to do it, but when we filmed this, we were still fairly new with this platform.
@BrianPhillipsRC No worries man, just a headsup Keep it up man I like your content
Looks beautiful against the clouds!!
She looks good from almost every angle ;) :) :)
I would like to see them Primark the CG since it is such an important part for safe flight it takes the guesswork out of it

It is AMAZING! To the 70mm's defense, it too is GREAT! ;)
It would be cool if you would report speed by a meter on each plane from trainers to jets. It is interesting and speed is one indicator of value.
It would be cool.
133mph is what I got from it.
Sorry, WITH a DX6e for now
Rebuilding a Viper 90mm. Forgot to take a pic of the set up. Can any help me with where the AUX BEC from the ESC goes and the lights connector. Any pics would be appreciated. Thanks!
Any of the ports should be okay, so I assume if your polarity is right, BIND plug, since you'll use the PB on top of the AR637TA, right?
@@BrianPhillipsRC plugged the 4 line Y plug into the bind plug. Connected the remaining connector to the main AUX BEC +/- plug.
Someone advised me, on elite hangout group on FB, to do this and no issue after 6 flights.
If you fly this again can you try it with 2x4000mah or 2x5000mah batteries? HH says its possible but I haven't seen anyone on RUclips try it.
I technically could. I wonder what type of penalty I would pay for the additional weight, vs just a single 7000mAh 6S?
Wow, great job. Thank you guys.
Thank G Bro!
Hi Brian, viper 90 reverse, how did you do the mix for (controllable thrust on Middle switch & full reverse thrust on last switch?
Thanks, John
Looks sweet. I love the Viper shape of the wings and overall appear to be super great. I wish there was a 4s Viper as I don’t want to step into 6s batteries.
I wonder if she'd fly on 4S??? Hummmm.......

Easy sweet build. In a few years I'll bet all planes will just snap together, no hardware, no tools, just simplicity. Hopefully the snap together parts will be easily replaceable too.

Great review, been waiting for this - my viper is on order.
Hope you enjoy it! It's a BLAST to fly, and super high quality all around!!!
Absolutely love your videos!! Excellent save and beautiful flying!!!’

Did you have a second flight?
We just published an update for you ;)
Just got mine last week, getting ready for first flight. The pilot now has no mustache....also one of the elevator servos was NOT reversed so they work opposite each other (like rollerons). I contacted Horizon but no joy as yet from them. So first flight is delayed until they can get me a replacement/fix.
Brian, a couple of critiques on your radio setup section:
First off it was helpful and appreciated. But I did find it hard to follow as you digress too much during the explanations with other comments or observations that are not germane to what is being taught/demonstrated. It also helps if you go a bit more slowly. I know we can pause/rewind but it does help as these are critical radio setups. (for example it took me a bit to figure out that you had to enter the SMART ESC setup right after connecting the battery....you can't get to the ESC programming menu after the ESC has completed it's initialization)
Also when you demo'd the reverse thrust it was like you were learning it as you filmed.
Servo Signal Reverser (Horizon Hobby) bit.ly/3B9nVpT
Servo Signal Reverser (Amazon) amzn.to/3bpECDf
Servo Signal Reverser (Banggood) bit.ly/3tkn9yN
....I've done both on separate projects in the past to remedy such an issue.

Holy shit lol... personally, I never initiate reverse until its 100% down and I'm rolling. I feel like it's just asking for trouble otherwise...
Yeah, but when she hopped, I was like, where's some clean drawers??? LOL
Is this a good second jet? because I have a little 64mm f-16 falcon from horizon hobby.and I heard you said it is really easy to fly
Just answered on another comment ;)
same answer here, FYI ;) ...
@@BrianPhillipsRC thank you

It sure is!
Brian, Do you think crow would be helpful on this plane? if so to you have a setup on one of your videos for crow.
Thanks bob from Florida
Love your channel
Thanks!
Love y’all’s videos! I picked up and crashed a 70mm viper😂 I just got the f4 phantom 2 & haven’t flown it yet. Any advice?
I don't actually have that one!!! But I've seen it fly, and it's a fun plane!
Got my Viper 90mm together to find out that when on for an extended period of time both my flap servos are extremely HOT! What can be cause this?
Are they bound up at all (even a little)??? If so, make sure you back off the throw some, or free them up. This would be the only thing I could see causing this type of issue. They run at a higher than average BEC voltage, on this size class, and that can cause some additional heat, BUT only if there's load...
If no too much trouble I need to know the dimentions of the box of this model, thank you
Sorry Martin, I can't say, since I get rid of the boxes right after we film.
If you look close at the unbox, build, and radio setup video, you can see the box in that video....but I don't go over the size of the box (but sometimes it's printed on the outside???)
How do you feel about the Spektrum 4 and 6 channel antenna-less receivers? I.E. 410 and the 620. Are they any good?
They also make an AR630, but for ~ $5 more - I'll get the antenna on an AR631 ;)
I have a 4Ch and 6Ch air receiver, but since I want SAFE/AS3X, largely to share with our audience, but also, I WANT AS3X, even when it's NOT needed...so I have only used the 6Ch, AR620 in one plane, and I wish I would have put in an AR631 or an AR630.
Horizon Hobby claims they have just as good range, but I don't believe it. I will only use it on a small plane, or something I can RUN AFTER - LOL ;)
@@BrianPhillipsRC thanks again for all the help!

What happened to the 2nd flight???
We have some new footage today ;)
You know what lots of pilots say. “It’s a great landing if the plane is all in one piece”
🤣🤣
LOL - some do say that ;)
On mixed flight what air time did you get on a 5200mah? I hope its more than the 2.30min the SU-30 offered. On a windy day the SU-30 might only get 2min which is not enough. What air time did you get on the 7000mah. Great work on the channel as well!
I don't have a 5200mAh, so I can say, but on the 7000mAh we were still "respecting" the timer. We just posted some more flights this morning ;)

@@BrianPhillipsRC thanks for the clarification
Use them for inflight flap trimming
What is that capacitor for? Is it needed? What are the specs on it?
It's used to help keep from brownouts caused by a lot of servos moving for AS3X.
