"Definitely NOT the Draco"...haha! You had us fooled :)
LOL
As a professional helicopter captain flying off ships all over the world I came across your channel several weeks ago. Your approach to communicating with your fans is spot on!
First of all you remind my wife and I of Jack Black so major points there. LOL You speak to the general population and not just the pros out there which helps everyone in this super cool hobby.
I'm waiting for my DRACO Ultimate to arrive to my LHS possibly this week so watching this unboxing is super helpful but makes me super jealous.
Do you have a local charity for subscribers to support?
Keep up the fantastic Husband/Wife productions your wing woman is essential to your success!!
Jay - Thanks for the very kind words, and the feeling you're having waiting for the Draco is palpable, and I don't envy it at all ;) I hope you can get one very soon! As for my wing-woman, you're exactly right about her, she is absolutely essential to our channel's success!!!
If you're looking for a way (or ways) to support us, and our channel, here's the most common...
1) Watch the content
2) Like the videos and Share on your social media, if you wish
3) Subscribe and click the bell for notifications
4) Buy from the links in the video description, but also peppered into the comments too. If you're already buying something, you don't have to spend any extra, and we'll get a "pat on the back" from the MFG, or Distributor for your purchase. This really helps us to build clout with said MFG's and Distributors, but we tell them we'll be honest to You, our REAL bosses, and they agree. This is HOW we can afford to review so much, and why my wife tolerates the time commitment demanded for our RUclips experience. Keep in mind, she is not an RC or Aviation enthusiast, she's just very supportive of me, and my pursuits. I'm a lucky guy!
...but if you were asking where we point others to contribute to a charity that we believe in...If this was what you meant, I could elaborate more, but we don't really like to push our personal charity choices onto others. Charity is a highly personal activity in our lives, and we don't expect others to share in it at all. We do and have supported organizations in the past, but we feel it somewhat faux pax to ask others to do so. Not sure if this was even what you were asking, but if so, hopefully this answers your question.
Thanks for being a part of our channel. We're so glad you found it!
Hey Brian! It’s not a Wigla. It’s a Wilga. 🤗😉
After the 6th beer it all sounds the same 🤣
@@rotoryacht so true!
My bad
@@BrianPhillipsRC I like Wigla better anyways. keep up the fun videos.
Best Draco review on youtube by the best youtube RC planes reviewer!
Thank you so much! We're honored to even be on your radar, let alone get such high ranks ;)
Must be draco day, 10 videos so far
Yes sir ! All released at 10am haha.
Horizon let us release the footage early, and you better believe it, we were ALL ready weeks ahead of schedule ;)
WHEW! I made it through all 2:30 hours. CRAZY cool airplane! I don't see it in my stable any time soon, but I do see it happening eventually. Horizon continues to raise the bar on scale detail with planes like Draco and the new Focke Wulf. I continue to be amazed.
The only thing I would change aesthetically on Draco is to try to clear coat it with a high gloss, which would be more representative of the real plane. I've been a subscriber to Mike Patey's channel for a couple of years now. When I started flying RC about a year ago, Draco was the one plane I wished someone in our hobby would develop. Hats off to Horizon Hobby for doing an outstanding job of that.
As always, thanks much for sharing. BTW - the flight video was great.
Steve
GOLD START for you stuff!!!!!!!!!!!
HH is doing a great job, but they DO need to make some of these in the 1.2m scale and sell the CRAP out of them... so many are afraid of the price, but this plane is a good value.
Likewise for me, having watched Mike Patey for a long time too - he is the REAL deal!
YOU can clear it! Minwax hi gloss spray paint. $10 a can at lowes. Usually 3 LIGHT coats. BUT, if u add anything, (i put my ama number on everything i own), do it FIRST b4 clear coating! 👍
Finally got my Draco today. Took fedex 3 trips to get it to me. Can’t wait to get it together and set up with my new nx8. Don’t listen to RUclips, your videos are great and never to long. Keep up the great work!!!!!!!
Thanks Clay!
Hi Clay, my name is Jim Grigsby.
@@56corvette75 hello jim
To be clear, this comment is not intended to denigrate anyone. The object is to compare good to GREAT and laud the greatness. I watched this build and the HH official build. No comparison. This build is easier to follow, has better camera angles, has more good information and is just plain entertaining; both the humans and felines! Brian, you made a side comment about RUclips suggesting you cut your video time. PLEASE DON’T. Yes, your unbox and build is long, but I love the detail and the entertainment. No, I did not watch the entire video at once. I broke it up over three sittings (which I’m pretty sure resulted in more advertisement) just cause that worked for me, not cause I got bored. Also did some rewind. Besides the additional detail and entertainment, I have to applaud the camera work! In the HH video they used two fixed angles and those just did not get in close or even in the right position to see what was being assembled. All in all, whether its a flight where the aircraft remains astoundingly centered during the entire filming, or a build where the camera gets just the right angle and zoom, your ‘camera partner’ is absolutely the most talented of any. Her work is much appreciated. My Draco is still on back order and probably won’t arrive until after you do your ‘second thoughts’ video. I’ll be back, watching and following along again, all 2.5 hours, when I get mine. Great work. Thanks so much.
Your very thoughtful and kind words are well received here! Megan is a pivotal part of the success of the channel, and we get to share in the success or failure this hard work yields. It's like we're rearing another child - LOL ;)
Thank you once again for being a part of our success, and while Megan and I both play a part in it, we would have long since given up if it weren't for such a great audience here on RUclips.
Thank you Bendrix Bailey.
In anticipation of getting my Draco, I watched a lot of build videos. Yours is by far superior. I was having trouble getting lights, reverse and SAFE all assigned to the right switches. You solved that for me. Thanks!
Nice! Thanks Capn Pete!!!
@@BrianPhillipsRC No, thank you. This is not the first time your video has helped me out with an issue. Keep on flyin', keep the blue side up!
Why do you just do Horizon hobby Products? Are you a rep?
I do not do this. I review for many different product lines, and virtually anyone who offers to work with us, we do.
There are several companies that have specifically told us NO, repeatedly. MotionRC is at the top of our list of NO's...
Some other examples are Hobbyzone.com (Not Horizon Hobby, btw...they're a big dealer basically) - they carry Arrows, which I want to review.
We would pretty much cover the whole spectrum (no pun intended), but some companies don't believe in this type of marketing, while others don't like me or us, or whatever - their loss, I guess...really it YOUR loss. Call them and complain, please ;) Tell them you WANT to see it on Brian Phillips RC before you'll make a purchase decision. Tell Motion that they have a great marketing group, but you want to see a "regular dude" flying it...someone that NOT on their payroll! (no offense...their guys make great content, but THEY work for Motion and they are beholden to them - they pretty much CAN'T say how crappy their plane might be...where as I WILL, and do)
When you setup the transmitter it would be great, all of us aremt that fast, plz
I just picked up my Draco. Dying to put it together tonight. Love the kittens. I miss my grey cat Buster. Thanks for sharing the video Brian.
Awesome Brent! So glad for you. This plane is really good; you won't be disappointed!!!
Hey Brian, I am really interested in getting a Draco. It will be my one and only plane, I'm not interested in flying any other types of planes. So my question to you is, what is the best transmitter for this plane? I like the Spectrum should I get a six channel or an eight channel? I see it has only six servos so does that mean I only need a six channel radio? Please advise me. Thanks (Love you channel) It was between this and the Carbon Z 150, but once I researched the real planes there was no question it's the Draco!!
Just get the NX8, and never look back.

QUESTION-
THRUST REVERSE-Throttle MIXING--
What I have is an Aux1/Throt mix. When I press the I button I get immediate 50% reverse throttle so I don’t have to try to do reverse thrust and throttle on my own at landing. Release I and I have forward throttle with whatever I landed with. Which could be nothing or something.
Problem is with this setup Aux1 is assigned to I with the mix always. This means I lose basic thrust reverse when backing out or with floats for example.
My question is can I assign Aux1 to multiple switches? I tried that but when I did it messed up my mix and I didht accomplish my goal.
Thoughts??!
Okay, sounds like you're real close - you don't want to make TWO CHANEL ASSIGNMENTS, you just make a MIX. This would be CHANNEL ASSIGN for say the "I" switch to AUX 1 (I assume you're using the I switch / Bind Switch, which is pretty popular way to do thrust revers, but not the way I do it generally)...then you'll build a MIX to make either another CHANNEL or a SWITCH do the same function. It sounds like you might have accidentally answered your own question, so I hope my wording isn't going to confuse you any more...but that's what you need to do. You're RIGHT there...just gotta run over the finish line ;)
When you do make your MIX, just make sure you test it in a way to keep yourself safe. Thrust Reverse is one of those features that can and does get people HURT, don't be "that guy" ;) Once you're all set, should be no-problemo, but don't want to see you get chopped up - possibly pull the prop for this type of work.
Good luck - you got this!
take a shot each time he say K (for Okay) and get drunk quick,,, getto lingo,,,, hehehehe

Watched this whole video last night and went out and got mine this morning. I don’t even have a transmitter yet! This is entirely your fault! Okay I was going to get one anyway and did find an incredible deal. They’re like $629 right now if you can even find one. I got mine for $477! Anyways awesome video as usual.
Awesome deal!!! When you're ready for your NX10 - bprc.me/Tx - Good luck!
Sorry guys, I've seen this plane and watch it fly. It is really cool looking, but sad to say, my Turbo Timber outperforms it for much less that 1/2 the price (including STOL performance).
Size matters - that's what she said - LOL :)
JK, I don't disagree that Timer's outperform this plane...but Timber is not a super scale plane.
I'd like this plane to be a few pounds lighter too, but if that were the case, it would not be an absolute show stopper, in terms of looks ;)
hello Brian, thanks for the video, I am currently setup a Draco and I will fly when the rain will stop (Strasbourg / France) Where did you buy your stand ? best regards. Xavier
You're welcome, and congrats on getting the Draco - it' a great plane!
I got that stand as a gift from a subscriber... RC Stand bit.ly/3bdD1O4
I AM SOOOO EXCITED just started to watch the unboxing, 25 minutes in on the short video and just received a notice from HH that my Draco has just been shipped. Now back to the video.
AWESOME Danny!!! So glad to hear it! This plane is excellent! Get ready for Christmas morning ;)
Hi Brian, I have my Draco but just as I was taking off on a maiden the engine stopped, the ESC stopped working and Horizon Hobby sent me a replacement, however I can no longer get the Avian Progm menu and everything else is workings etc control surfaces, safe select and lights, now matter what I do no reverse, I must be doing or missing something any ideas would be appreciated. ...Larry Shimoda, Canada
I'm very sorry Larry, but not sure what to do. Are you using the SAME entry method we showed here for reverse thrust setup?
You have to do it within a few seconds of power up....I think like 30ish seconds....or it won't let you enter the menu.
Will my NX6 fly the Draco? What functions more would the NX8 do on the Draco - more light options? Or something serious I would want an NX8 to fly it?
Yes, the NX6 will work, but I would very highly recommend the NX8....not just for this plane, but for many others.
Reverse Thrust
Light Control (on the fly - pun intended)
HOWEVER, you don't have RETRACTS to worry about...so technically, I believe you can use 7th [partial] channel on the NX6 for Thrust Reverse...then rest would work.
Please be super careful if you're not 100% sure on the Reverse Thrust, since that 7th channel kinda makes me nervous...since I've only used it maybe 20 or so models to turn SAFE on and off.
If you're plopping down the cash, GET the NX8. If you're already setup with the NX6, it'll do ;)
I hope you got this plane for free, thanks for advice and teaching, 1st time NX10 settings finished, hope not crashed in 1st flight :D (with this plane I mean...)
You're very welcome! Glad you're here with us!!!
Can you please do a plane collection video?
I do them once in a while, but not on our immediate agenda, but we WILL do it at some point.
All the technology onboard to assist with the flight of this plane could it be flown with just the basic setup pre-Smart and Safe mode I know the newbie would not be able to but could an old school model pilot be able to just fly as good as the safe mode makes possible.
Do you ever fly in the dark or just in twilight am/pm. I have watched this to the end and you are right not all of your uploads that is more to do with the style/type of plane or heli you are reviewing, one of the more enjoyable uploads was the JJRC M02 or the XD X450 can't remember which but man that was well funny in the snow, I still have two and only just recently gone from drone/tricopter to the plane mode in 6G.
An old school pilot should be able to fly this plane no problem, but I'd still suggest testing the waters with a cheaper plane first.
Absolute best review on set-up of the Draco, Brian as always you do the best, thanks man ! And thanks to such an awesome camera crew too !
It's our pleasure!
Great video, great job Brian and camera crew. What a beautiful aircraft. “Thank You Mike Patey” ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Our pleasure! Thank YOU William! Glad you're here as one of our "regulars" ;)
Happy Day / Sad Day
Bought a used Draco and word to the wise.
Be extremely careful not to hit the “reverse switch” when you mean to flip the “flaps up” switch.🤦♂️
GLUE TIME!
Flew great while it was flying. Can imagine the pain Mike felt. Hurts to crash a model not to mention the real thing.
Fly it Break it, Fix it , REPEAT!🤜🤛
I have changed from "A" to the "G" switch to help reduce the risk of this possibility.
Sorry for your loss
Hey Brian Why doesnt anyone show show the wiring ? Got my new Draco but Im having problems with the wires 2 of my wire leads dont have labels and I dont know where they connect. I connected all the cables that had labels but still dont know where the others go. Is there any support that I can call that will help me? Thanks
The reason nobody shows it is that most don't have to do it for a BNF - I suspect. You're trying to work out the LED's - can you just guess and check?
So I paid $600 to reserve a plane only to find out Horizon planned to have Phillips rub it in my face 3 days before mine even ships. Not everyone needs someone to hold their hand when building a plane. Kinda shady on Horizon's part.
We had this plane before anyone could order it. We didn't skip anyone in line, and Horizon Hobby certainly didn't take "Your" order and give it to us... I have planes sitting behind me now (in my office) that you don't even know exist yet, and this is typical. The Draco release was different in that there were people involved that wouldn't ordinarily be involved. These people had some reasonable, special requests, which lead things to appear "shady" to some, because of the chronology of the release of our per-recorded videos.
When you get this plane, I promise you will forgive all misunderstandings. It is awesome, and you will love it. It was not all hype, as I feared it may be, it is the real deal.
Used your links to purchase my Draco and a Smart 6s 5000mah 50C. I’ve just got her out of the box and I can’t stop staring at her. She is so beautiful. I’m so impatient for Saturday when I plan to maiden her. Thanks for your feedback as always.
Oh boy!!!!! She is a looker, isn't she!?!?! Even though we try, hard to really show the amazing level of detail for an ACTUAL flying model!
Can't wait to get one like this in an F-14 ;)
Hey Brian (and amazing cam crew) love the vid so much became a subscriber. Just bought this plane but I'm a Futaba guy for bigger other & aircraft. I do however have an old Spektrum DXe 6 Channel trans that I use for smaller stuff. Ya think I can get away with this trans? Don't want to buy another transmitter.
Probably, if it's DSMX or DSM2 (should be on a DXe), you should be able to bind, BUT you'll need more channels to do everything. The latest and greatest firmware would be a great help, if you can upgrade the firmware on your Tx. Some features are accessible from the AVIAN ESC via a Serial communication system accessible from the Tx....you'll see in the RADIO SETUP part of our video, where we do Thrust Reverse.
As for getting the plane in the air, you should be fine, but as for taking full advantage of the systems on board, you'll want 8 channels. Hope this helps!
If you decide to break down and get a newer Spektrum Tx, I can help you out. No you don't absolutely NEED the NX8, but if you want to do everything, might be in your future ;) There are good things coming soon, but I get that you're a Futaba guy, and everyone has their preferences.
Brian, what brand plane holder is the one you are using, I think I remember you saying someone sent it to you…… I’m looking for one, thanks!

I just bought a Draco today but I need a radio and Batteries.. can someone donate me one or two batteries for me please? Can’t wait too build this beautiful plane. Thanks everyone.
You can use a couple 3S packs in Series too, if you're trying to do it on the more economical end.
Professor Brian, I already have an NX6, should I go ahead and get the NX8 to use with the draco?
You don't have to at all, OR if you want to keep bound with ONLY AS3X, you could use that 7th channel for light controls...
The NX6 is just so good, I hate to see you lose the value you've already got. Can you sell it to someone you know, and get into the NX8??? If so, go for it. They've both been really nice, if that weren't already obvious.
I have an older dx8 and the throtle mapping can't go to -100, how do I use this radio to fly the new draco with thrust reversing
I don't think that matters.
Your Tx's menu structure only DISPLAYS the +/-100%, whereas the PWM is always the same in DSMX / DSM2. You should be able to do it, but you'll have to adjust the WAY you setup the settings. Think of it like this...
+100% for me = 100% for you
-100% for me = 0% for you
Should be simple as that...but you may need to reach out to Spektrum to see if your DX8 is compatible to do Forward Programming. You may need to update firmware too, but not sure if this feature is supported. As I understand it, you just need the Programming Box for thrust reverse, IF you don't mind loosing access to Forward Programming.
The programming box allows you to setup WHAT channel you'll use to control the Reversing channel.

I have purchased planes through your channel because of the great work you do, Awesome pilot and I learn so much from the builds. Please keep it coming, Maybe a short video to help others become a better pilot. All the best to you and the "camera crew"
Thanks Phillip! We try to incorporate these items into our videos, and will keep trying to pepper this stuff in, but doing a specific "how to fly" video, would need to be a whole series. I'll think about how we can incorporate more of this in our upcoming videos!
Bought the DRACO 2.0 weeks ago, watched all your videos on the monster red dragon, read the book a few times. Downloaded the setup file which was up to date, then rechecked everything again, and Re-watched your videos again, when I went to fly it today, it felt like I've been flying it for weeks, maiden flight went perfect four flights today! You might want to verify your tire axle washers. i believe only one should be on the inside and two on the outside along with nut.
Sure. I'll look into it, since we'll be putting on Pneumatic tires soon, if all goes to plane.
Brian I haven’t assembled mine yet but I see in couple other videos that the tail wheel broke. Is this a issue?
Only if you get a bit too frisky ;)
FedEx says mine is due to be delivered tomorrow - after 3 1/2 months.
That's nuts!!! You're gonna love it!!!
Thanks for making this video. I am disappointed in that some parts are not metal, and there is not a aerotow setup for it.
There is an option for aerotow.
Getting a little grey there bud. Did you steal some wing tip leading edge paint for that ? Haha
LOL - Nope, I'm just getting old!!! Actually though, the front part has been like that for a LONG time!
How do you get rid of the rudder mix. It really affects the ability to get a good clean roll.
You can mix the CONVERSE in a mix on the NX8. Super easy!
I have a 4000 50c instead of a 5000 on accident. 🙄 will I loose much?

Me too - I was doing it on accident at first, then it was like, - what the heck, nothing to loose now!!!
45:01 I installed washer there, did not feel right without, the screw is not supported all around.
I agree about the "not supportive at all" - washers are SOOOOOOO cheap, so I've always wondered why companies leave them out...maybe it's a weight thing, or the extra $0.02 per plane??? I don't get it.
Great, video (unboxing) I have tried in my basic English to retain as much as possible, although I can't understand everything.
My draco has been mounted and flown thanks to your help, my version is bnf so the bindhas been fast from the spektrum bnf template for NX8, it has been configured with safe disabled, but I would like to be able to opt for F switch assignment to select between AS3X and safe mode , I have not understood the procedure well .
even so my draco has flown without problems. could you help me with instructions to get AS3X and safe mode selectable in switch F .

Congratulations from Spain for your video Brinan.
I would tell you to go into FORWARD PROGRAMMING, and make your assignment to SAFE on for the channel that's been assigned to "F" in SWITCH ASSIGNMENT.

This plane is on my want list. I’ll be throwing nickels in a pile for a while. Probably for the best, everything that I’ve ever flown has crashed.
"Everything I've ever flown crashed" - Welcome to RC Aviation - LOL ;) With some more crashing, you can put more gaps between your crashes!!!!
HH needs to give you a deal on some ball-link pliers....
We have some now ;) They came from a couple "Concerned Citizens" - they were concerned about my public ball handling, and they HAD to help - LOL
So you are going to buy every single horizon hobby airplane smh
I will review every plane they offer, if they'll let me ;) I also do every plane Bitgohobby will let me do, and every aircraft Banggood will let me do, and GoGoBird will let me do, and every plane MotionRC will let me do too, if they would work with us, and the same would be true for every plane HSD makes, and every plane Freewing and FMS, etc...
The point is, we review planes. The more the merrier!
Wonder if it will fly on a 3200 6s ?
Might puff your pack, but if you don't push the flight time might be okay ;)
I've found you NEED lots of RESERVES in this HEAVY plane.
@@BrianPhillipsRC I've been flying it lightly ...almost babying it ..battery still holding up so far . I just don't wanna sped 140 but for a new battery at the moment . But we all know I'll have 2 eventually lol
I was watching your video here and setting up the transmitter, and I'm not sure wat I did, but everything works well, but the throttle doesn't work. The plain just starts beeping . I was just curious if u would know what that would be?
Might need to double check a few things...
1) Is your throttle cut setup right - Check this FIRST.
2) Did your throttle go low enough to ARM the motor? If not, try a few clicks of trim DOWN and see if the motor initiates, if it doesn't, trim it MORE. If it still doesn't, you might need to try to CALIBRATE throttle range.
I have the trim set as low as it goes and it still does it. I was just thinking would it do that if the battery is dead,
Hi Brian
I wonder whether you could help me as I am not able to get the right answer so far solving my problem.
I am trying to setup the Draco including reverse thrust on a Futaba receiver & transmitter but it doesn't work. I downloaded the SMART ESC software & connected the ESC (AVIAN SPMXAE1100 Smart ESC - 100Amp 3-6S Lipo) to assure the settings are right. The default settings (eg. Brake Type "Reverse" and the channel for the reverse thrust on CH7) were fine.
However, when I connect the signal plug to CH7 the ESC doesn't reverse the thrust - it seems as if the ESC doesn't get the signal. I connected a servo to CH7 using the programmed switch & this did work.
Thanks in advance for your help :-)
I don't even know if you can do it with Futaba. The Smart ESC's use SMART Technology for control of the reversing.
I'm not saying it won't work, but I am saying I don't think it will...but here goes nothing.
1) Take off the prop before you try any of this. I don't want to see pictures of your chopped up arm, like Big Jim just sent me the other day...TO THE BONE with the Night Timber (I think) GROSS! Replace with a piece of tape so you can tell if it's reversing.
2) You have to make sure the channel is working first - Hook up a servo and verify it.
3) Once you verify this, verify direction of travel. make sure you're driving the servo to the -100% / +100% of PWM. On Futaba, I wonder if you're possibly REVERSE of the call out by Spektrum????
4) Now you have to wonder through the programming menu on the PROGRAMMING BOX or the Tx. If you can't get into the menu, you need to enter within about 5-10 seconds of powering up the plane...
@@BrianPhillipsRC Hi Brian
First of all thanks a lot for your prompt feedback. Meanwhile I got the answer - it doesn't work with that ESC as the reverse thrust channel is actually a telemetry channel & therefore doesn't work with Futaba, Jeti etc.
I was just a bit surprised that the Product Support Team was not aware of that but got it sorted meanwhile.
Thanks a lot for your support & help - much appreciated.
Best regards,
Markus
Can you tell me what is the best Spectrum RC for the Draco or is the Spectrum RC DXS good enough ?
Tough call. While I believe you can bind the DXs to the Draco, you will want more refined control to make her fly the way it can fly... It's not a cheap plane, and I fear your experience may be greatly diminished if you do anything less than an NX6, but for only $40 (or so) more, you can get into an NX8, and basically fly almost any of the offerings...
Some will tell you that the DX8 would be fine, but I want you to get the more time out of your investment, and HH is moving to the NX now, and I don't want you to loose support in the next few years....after all, these Tx'es are expensive, so might as well get a great one now and enjoy it fully!
NX bit.ly/3mbVuNB ( I think you should get the NX8...if you're buying the Draco, this is what I suggest)

Given the level of detail, $600 for the BNF version seems a great price but add in some batteries and u are over $700. Too big for my Elantra, and my budget. Have not seen one yet at my flying field but expect to shortly.
When you do, it will be Jealousy City ;)
@@BrianPhillipsRC local hobby shop has yet to have one in stock I talked to Dan recently at Hobby Zone and he is still waiting to get a container load of Arrow's planes so much is out of stock
How can I score a free DX transmitter from Spektrum?
You're name says it all ;) LOL
Hey BP, I like the way you walk us through each detailed step. Good job on the assembly, and thanks to the talented camera crew. You guys remind me of a surgeon and an assistant nurse operating on the Draco. LOL.
Much appreciated! Thanks Jetman!
Hi Brian
I have had a few flights on Draco so far and love the way it flies. Seen a few things online regards the servos being small for a heavy plane like this. Mine so far are ok but if I were to replace them for something stronger what would be a good choice please. I can't seem to find an online comparison between the a332 it uses (same as timber x) however someone said that they've used hitec hs65mg Any thoughts on this as I have had a flap servo fail on me once and resulted in a big crash. Cheers 👍
I wouldn't ever upgrade the Servos on this plane, but if you must, I'd just make sure the specs are BETTER, and then you need to be real careful not to overwhelm the current and voltage loading on the BEC.
Good luck, but I'm not changing any servos on mine ;)
@@BrianPhillipsRC ok that's a good point I didn't think of that. Cheers Brian I'll keep with the stock ones 🙂👍
Damn shame that he crashed the real original one!
Agreed. It was a sad reality check :(
@@BrianPhillipsRC Thanks for the reply! You're my second favorite RC airplane dude on RUclips. #1 is Andrew Newton. Love your videos man!
hello i have a radio jeti can i get the engine reverse on the radio jeti?
I'm not 100% sure you can, stock. I know that you CAN have reverse thrust, but not 100% sure how to do it, short of picking another type of ESC.
Sorry Henrique - I don't know this one...
Thank you, watched your unbox and build, this plane is a step up for Eflite! Great hint about not hooking up the elevator until after binding. Also helped by watching you on the tail wheel setup!
Nice! Glad we could help! Eflite did a wonderful job recreating this beauty for us to enjoy! I hope you get one for yourself!
This unboxing was epic and very informative like always. You totally demolished that packaging 😂🤣never seen that reaction for a unboxing. Thanks for the information, I’ll be tossing and turning even more now until mines arrives Friday.
It was getting REAL! I was legitimately having a really hard time opening it...but I wasn't about to let the BOX win - LOL ;)
Yeah it’s totally an “ Adorable “ looking beast 🐉
Hi Brian, I'm looking at a new radio to replace my DX6 as well as a Draco, which in your view to choose NX8 or NX10?
NX8 will be a great choice, but the NX10 will be a BIT more "future proof" with a two extra channels.

@@BrianPhillipsRC thanks Brian and great videos, oh and by the way, it is a Wilga not a Wigla that formed the basis of the Draco, I'm sure Mike or the Horizon team will put you right!!!
I'm 30 years old and I had dare when I was in school I believe it was wheni was in the 4th 5th and 6th grade maybe even the 7th grade but it was an amazing program for kids to help keep them out of trouble
Okay, DARE was in our schools too, but I'm not sure where you're going with this Chris.
U had mentioned it in ur video I was just saying how it was a good program for kids I think they should still have it but they don't
i clicked off ryans video to watch your video. yall posted about the same time
I don't want to hate on Ryan, but thank you ;) He's a great guy, but I still want you here!!! (I assume he feels the same way - LOL)
2:02:38 Hey @BrianPhillipsRC when going into system setup and disconnecting RF and simulating brown out(fail safe) is it normal for aeileron's to change state and put plane into left bank. I've noticed mine does as yours did in video. Btw thank you and camera crew for the in depth unbox/setup video..
I have to laugh at all the affiliate RUclipsr's. If you are just ordering it now, you might get it by Christmas.
Not necessarially. I have at least a few subscribers who have it now ;)
@@BrianPhillipsRC not ordering today they wouldn’t. Back orders could be months and months. I heard might be in the fall before they are all caught up.
Hi Brian, really enjoy your videos, I have a Draco Question about the Light controller. I recently had to rebuild my Draco after a serious crash which required me to order a new Fuse. the problem is no info on how the connectors are connected. Was able to figure it out except for one
connector. All other ones have a letter where to plug them in. the one that's odd has a tag with a light symbol wit power and a lightning bolt.
can't find where to plug it into the controller. Would you be so kind to look at your Draco and see where it's plugged into. E-Flight has no info on connections to the controller. Your help would be greatly appreciated Thanks in advance, Ernie
Thanks for making me save so much time in setting it up after many years of not flying! ❤ Greetings from Italy!
You're welcome, and thank you for watching!
I hate when they ask why my tip points to the right so much
Nice!!!
Its here !!!!
Totally here and awesome!
I had to sit my ass on the floor with it and use my legs to push the inner part out since I was by myself. I ended up about halfway inside the outer sheath. LOL
It can be super awkward!
@@BrianPhillipsRC Quick question. What are the 45 degree wing lights mentioned in the manual? Thanks!
Great videos...love the Draco....how much flying time did you get with the 7000 battery on the Draco?..Tks..
Could I increase the flap aggressiveness? On fun cubs it seems the flaps drop almost straight down.
This plane is a lot different than a fun cub, so when and if you get the draco, you'll understand. Same is true with many planes, the flap deployment is so much different from one another. More deflection isn't necessarily better, BUT like you, I do like to induce as much DRAG as possible to help slow the planes down...HOWEVER, in this case, you have thrust reverse to help, if you need it, so that extra drag wouldn't be totally necessary.
@@BrianPhillipsRC ok and thank you for your reply, I have followed your setup video for the Draco. I’ll leave things the way they are. And I love your videos. You are so funny. My wife loves watching with me :)
what an amazing bit of kit great video sir and mamm
Thank you! It is a great plane!!! You should get one if you think it was nice...it is nicer than you realize in person, it's so beautiful!!
Are you really using an ' adjustable wrench?"
An ',adjustable wrench or a fits all wrench". Really fits nothing.
I may ha$10,000 in hand tools, not battery or lipo, just hand tools.
But not a single 'adjustable ' I call em a " fits nothing " or a " knuckle buster"
No real or pro, semi-pro hobbyist would have one. Just get a couple small metric or SAE wrench set and hide the " fits all' in the bottom drawer of your tool chest.
Hi. I have now seen many Draco flights on YT. It seems kind of normal to fly. I have one myself now, but none takeoffs yet. But the reason for this question is this: Is it trickier to land than many other rc airplanes?
I from ssweden i have problem understand the settings.can u make a video for dummies
This is the video for dummies.
@@BrianPhillipsRC that hurts.....its the dummies who make u channel....
Are you a electronic or mechanical engineer?
I'm neither ;) Not pedigreed as an engineer, but work in a pseudo engineering role at times, more electrical than mechanical, but some of both with an emphasis on electronics and control level circuits, predominantly.
The AR637TA can be unlocked.
Sure can!!! I just confirmed this myself a few days ago for real. Gotta have the Programming Cable though ;( (Which I have...)
Hi i have watched all the Draco clips and yours is by far the best and most informative well done
Thanks Lee!
Brian how does the draco do on 6s 4000? I will be maiden mine soon. When I get chance
I thought I flew a flight for you all on the Maiden Flights X3, didn't I???
@@BrianPhillipsRC maybe I’m not sure. But I was hoping to do 4000 because I put 5.5 “ du bro air tires on and they are kind of heavy.
Hi Brian, where is possible to purchase the stand for Draco you have?

@@BrianPhillipsRC Thanks!
Great build guide Brian what a great model however that model to buy here in Tasmania is $1,100 delivered to my door keep up the good work you and the camera lady does cheers Bill
Where do you keep all of these aircraft? I want to see that building.
Basement....and it's getting crazy!
@@BrianPhillipsRC let's see a video of that please. 🙃
Gorgeous plane and awesome video pls never change your commentaries are so pertinent and fun 👍
Glad you like them!
I hate the tail wheel. It’s never straight on landing and has so much play. Hate it
When I switched RF off and it went into what you called failsafe I noticed one aileron go up and one went down. any idea what that's about? its on a level table.
The horizontal stabilizer and tail wheel reminds me of the Apache tail section
damn,I tried,now it's preorder
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Nice video and plane. Where have you bought your plane stand or is it homemade
Oh man I really want one. But I don’t have room for another plane this huge
I have it sitting on the ground with one wing off, and you could take BOTH off and slide them under the fuse and pull the spar off and slide that under the plane. This would take about 1-2 minutes, if that, to accomplish.
My Carbon Z Cub SS 2.1m, by comparison, is bigger, and harder to store. It DOES come apart, but only after about 3-4 hours of pulling pins (slight exaggeration...FYI).
@@BrianPhillipsRC yeah, my carbon-z Cessna takes up quite a lot of space but is easier to take apart than the cub. I don’t have a large storage area though. But I’m currently working on getting it more organized
You must have been horrified about cutting the leather…
