"A World of Safety Violations" was freakin golden. I died. Not only did it sound absolutely amazing. But it was hilarious. I hate that Gene has passed. I feel an attachment to him. And it's the strangest thing knowing he's not here anymore. I will forever love him in this role. And this whole video was awesome.
Ladymusicc, I agree. I loved watching both this film and Gene's performance in it as a kid, and will still enjoy watching this movie when I'm eighty, if I live to be that old. One of my bucket list dreams would have been the chance to have met Wilder, and to have been able to tell him how much both this movie and his performance enriched my childhood.

Roald Dahl hated the movie.
Nope. Charlie and the chocolate factory with Depp was actually more true to the book. There is also a sequel called Charlie and the glass elevator but he refused to let it become a movie. Roald Dahl has some seriously twisted childrens books though, lots of abused kids who take revenge on evil adults.

One of my favorite things about Gene's portrayal of Wonka in this movie is that he evidently wanted that limping, fall-into-a-roll scene himself. It wasn't in the script. Gene said he wanted it so badly because he wanted viewers to know right away that Wonka couldn't be trusted.
