    Good practical review focusing on no nonsense practicalities. Well worth watching

    Looks a gud n Jim 👍. I agree, rear wipers are nice… unless of course those rear view cameras are as good as they look?
    I’ve always liked those light coloured interiors, until the colour of a new pair of jeans leaches out, and that is not easy to clean… 🤔

    Another informative video. Great car my favourite at the moment.

    I think you’ve made a really valid point about test driving the trio - I managed to test drive the EV6 and Ionic 5 at Farnborough Fully Charged UK live 2022 which is where I got to see the GV60 for the first time.
    The GV60 made me go wow! when I got in it as did the stream of people after me. I managed to test drive the GV60 sometime afterwards.
    For me the firmer ride of the GV60 over the ionic 5 and the slighter shorter length than the EV6 ( 4.515m cf. 4.680m ) to aid urban parking and fit on my diminutive apartment drive-way was the deciding factor. As was the seemingly more plush feel of the GV60 over both of its siblings.
    For comparison the Ionic 5 is 4.635m long.
    Did mean on my budget I had to forgo the AWD and 20in wheels I would have got with the Kia EV6 GTLineS given the price difference to the GV60 line up. So ended up with the GV60 Premium RWD.
    Was initially concerned the reduced performance would be a deal breaker 0-60 in 7.8 secs as opposed to the Kia AWD GTLineS 5.2 seconds but as it happens 7.8 seconds is more than adequate for merging onto motorways or overtaking and the increase in range is an added advantage.
    But having that choice is great. Indeed if space was a premium requirement for me further deliberations would be needed the GV60 only having a 432L boot cf. 480 L of the AWD EV6 and the greater rear cabin space of the EV6 afforded by its 165mm (6.5 inches) extra length.

    An excellent review. You are spot on about having a rear wash wiper, it is for me the only thing missing on my BMW i4 M50, it was also missing on my Jaguar I pace but my Mercedes EQC had one and I made good use of it. I asked about the Genisis GV 60 recently but they don't take part exchanges. I may try to buy one in a years time but if an electric C class Mercedes with 4 wheel drive and plenty of power I will go for that. Although I don't like SUVs the Genisis is not too high or too big for me.

      @DefinitelyNotAGuru  Год назад

      Yes, I don't even think of it an an SUV, just a chunky hatch really with a slightly higher riding position (hang on a sec...isn't that a crossover?).

      @@DefinitelyNotAGuru I have just watched video by a man in the USA and he has had a problem with phantom braking on his GV 60 and Genisis appear unable to fix it. Other people have had a similar problem particularly when reversing but his also did when turning left across traffic. I enjoyed reading your book and think many motorists will find it very useful. Thanks, Alan.

    We have that model…in that colour. I think anybody in the UK thinking of buying a GV60 for environmental reasons should know that at the moment if any work needs to be done on your car, it will be taken, on a diesel lorry, to their only service centre in Bicester. Like mine has…twice. Once to repair pothole damage and once for a minor warranty repair - a round trip on that diesel lorry of 520 miles each time. Kia and Hyundai dealers (of which there is one five minutes away from me) are not allowed to service them.

    • @DefinitelyNotAGuru
      @DefinitelyNotAGuru  Год назад +1

      I doubt anyone is REALLY buying a new EV for environmental reasons are they? it's probably far more environmentally friendly to use your existing car until it dies than to buy a brand new one. If you are though, 500 diesel miles for every 10k of zero emissions miles (if the car is running on zero emissions electricity) is not a bad trade off. Genesis plans to open 15 UK centres this year by the way.

    Mmmhhh…maybe it’s the colour combo that is putting me off, not sure about that light blue and the (rather good) cream leather interior. Maybe one in a black or a white colour with dark interior would’ve be a better looking one. Lovely cat though Jim. But still, if I had to choose a Genesis, I would go for the shooting break 😊

      It would be white exterior and black interior for me on this one

    Nice review Jim! The first question that springs to mind is why might you buy the GV70 rather than this? Cars like this will really put pressure on Tesla..... The South Koreans are really showing how it's done......

    • @DefinitelyNotAGuru
      @DefinitelyNotAGuru  Год назад

      If money were no object I'd take the GV70 (yes, I am compensating for something) but the GV60 is all the car anyone could need. Lovely thing.

      @@DefinitelyNotAGuru Just from a couple of remarks in your test of the GV70, referring to it's sheer size, is the GV60 much smaller? Are we talking Tesla Model 3-ish dimensions?

    • @DefinitelyNotAGuru
      @DefinitelyNotAGuru  Год назад

      @@Brian-om2hh not significantly so Brian, I’d say it would sit just below the Y in Tesla terms. (Although I haven’t checked the measurements)

    You talk about where you have to plug the phone in. It has wireless charging in front of the armrest.

    • @DefinitelyNotAGuru
      @DefinitelyNotAGuru  Год назад +1

      You need to plug the phone in to use carplay or android auto, the ports are inconveniently located (as they are in the IONIQ 5), poor bit of design in an otherwise excellent cabin.

    10.52. No rear wiper killed this car instantly for me.
    Why are so many cars now not having a rear wiper? Someone needs to give these designers a reality check or sack them!!
    Every Hatch, Estate & SUV needs a rear wiper. Saloons perhaps not but who cares, no one buys saloons these days. I run a front & rear dash cam on my estate car & medium SUV so I need a clear rear screen to get a decent picture. No rear wiper means - no sale. Even without a rear dash cam I would still like to see what's behind be at all times. Designers take note.
