Great video! Good lenses can make footage on even a T2i look amazing. Of course, using a cheap lens on a good camera will also look great because each will compensate for the other. I started out with a T2i and now use the 1DX mark ii. The T2i for me was a milestone camera, I did all my learning on it, even made some money from the videos I shot on it, but upgrading to a better camera, it definitely utilizes the better lenses. At the end of the day, it's what you create with what you have. It doesn't matter if you have a cheap camera, if you throw on an L series lens on it, it will look beautiful. I shot an event with the 100mm L series on my T2i and even though the lens cost more than my camera, the footage came out great. Keep on creating Austin, this was a great video!
Thanks for the comment! That's awesome you were able to make some money with a T2i! And the 1dx😍 that's such a nice camera! Keep shooting and hope you have a great day!
A good camera can't always save a lens.. or it makes it look even worse. I've been known to run sigma art 35 3.4, and 24-105 f4L on my ancient 5D classic. But a 24-120mm barely aperture lens from Nikon on the d610 was straight up garbage. These kit lenses are most probably better
can you do this test again with trying different apertures? I think that major advantages of more expensive lenses is that they tend to have a constant maximum aperture , less vignetting and consistent sharpness from center frame to the edges. You didn't really demonstrate that aspect but I do think that your demonstration shows that most kit lenses today are very capable lenses. With today's camera gear, the skill of the photographer is the most important factor of all.
Obviously the lens is superior. But I’m truly amazed by the deep rich colours of the 5D mk2. It’s made me want to buy one, I can only Imagine how good it would look with that L lens on it.
Great video, Austin! You're right, the images are SO similar...and it's always good to be frugal. I know for a recent film, Unsane (2018), the film was shot using an iPhone 8, but the lense significantly improved the picture quality of the device.
This was one the best comparisons. Straight to the point & side by side comps of the same image angles. I have an 80D right now, looking for my first full frame, but really want the 24-105. Deciding which I want to upgrade first, lens or body. I’m going body next after your video. Thank you!!!
@@SpicerProductions Thank you! I've got my lenses ready (85 & 70-200), I've been shooting on a crop sensor, and I'm ready to jump into a full frame, didn't know which I was eager to get. You've helped me for sure!! I am just learning about my lighting though! RUclips University-ing strobes vs speed as we speak 😂
Hey man great vid! One tip tho, edit it more fast paced, there are alot of pauses and those can easily be removed while editing! Btw what mic do you use? I use the rode VMP+ and what lights? And i liked the 5D II because of the dynamic range and its full frame so that also helped And my current setup is the A7iii and I’m saving for the tamron 28-75 f2.8
Thanks man for the tip! I will focus on cutting out those spaces in my future videos! I used the Rode video mic. Not the pro or the go version just standard ride videomic. For lighting I used one soft box on the right of the frame and just my desk lamp for background lighting. Thanks for the feedback and subscribe if you think you would like to see more videos like this! Have a great day Jimmy!
It's a good lens especially if you are starting out. It also depends if you know you are pursuing photography/videography professionally or not what lenses you get.
Austin Spicer it’s not something I’m pursuing as a career but definitely a hobby I’m into. I want to be able to go to sports game and shoot nice photos. Just hope my t6i is good enough for a lens like that

same, me personally I loved the 5D mark2 looked verses the cheaper body camera one even with the more expensive lense on it !!
Do you use a lens filter for the protection of lens..??
What do you Suggest...??
Very informative

Id always upgrade my glass first before the body. Having better lenses is the most important part of shooting next to lighting!

@@jimmyhidalgo2680 Thanks I appreciate it!
The 75 to 300mm kit Canon kit lens is adequate at best between 75 and 200mm. In full zoom.. pitiful, just pitiful.
Thanks man for this)) even ashamed to say I own a T3 lol what do you recommend for me
No reson to be ashamed! Its still a great camera paired with a good lens.
What kind of stuff do you mainly shoot?
@@SpicerProductions I haven't found my style yet, but I think nature. Thanks for the kind words, I will try to master it.
Ok but what if you’re shouting sport and need high fps camera
Lol the thumbnail initially confused me
Do you 5hink I can use a Canon dslr 4000d with a 70-200mm f/4?
I would think that would work but do a little research first.
How much can I buy a canon camera
Depends on which model they can range anywhere from $300-$2500
@@SpicerProductions Thanks
I have a t6i and really want to get a sigma 70-200mm lens 😅. I wonder how that would look. Hopefully I’m not wasting my money

What camera are you filming with ?
I filmed myself on a Sony a6300
What if I use just body
You'll just get a white picture
Chromatic Aberration
