Arctic Winter- Freediving encounters with Orcas and Humpback Whales

- Tromsö, Norway. During the end of 2015 we managed to freedive with these amazing creatures while they were feeding on the migrating herring. The water temperature is around 2ºC while the air temp. changes from -10ºC to 5ºC. It was cold but worth it every time. Hopefully they will return next year. The piano music is made by Sebastian Sivam Wada.

Amazing! Can you please tell me, how to organize such divings? The boat excursions (live on board) are way to expensive :( Is there posibility to hire someone with rib boat while staying on the land? Is the middle of November still good time for coming to Tromsö?
There are a lot of operators that offers daytrips for people to go out to see the whales. Some off them have special snorkling/ going in the water daytrips. Costs between 1500-3000 nok for a daytrip. If you are a group you could proably fix something up directly with some operators. We have our on 14 ft rib that we have on a trailer so we can easly get to the areas where the whales feed. Mid november have been a good time fo 3 years now but since the wales following the herring you never know when and where until they show up.
