Arctic Spearfishing: AMBERJACK ticked off the list!
Winter in the Med is not exactly the same as Arctic winters! Part of the crew moved to Israel and here is the first amberjack (8kg) that met the spear. Once you go tailormade you dont go back, first time trying out the 5mm elios in waaaarm winter water.

Arctic Spearfishing: Wetsuit for Arctic conditions (and a lot of dead halibut)

Had an Elios wetsuit for four years, and when it was time for a new one, Elios were happy to sponsor a new 7mm Elios Yamamoto 45 beige hyperstrech. Diving in Arctic waters is cold all year around, but a suit of this caliber will keep anyone warm! Big ups to Elios sub Italy! Throwing in footage from the last trip of October. The 2018 season is coming to an end in Arctic Norway. We went out hoping to find some fish to fill the freezer before winter, but ended up with the biggest halibut we have ever seen! 129,5 kilo / 285 lbs spearfished by Ole!! Fish of an absolute lifetime! Good teamwork and experience wins the race! The legal limit of landed halibut in Norway is 200cm, and this one was 199cm, making it the bigges...
Arctic Spearfishing: My wife gets her first Halibut!!

It's important to mix up the places when spearfishing, especially with somewhat stationary species like Halibut. Here we are in October, and it's warmer underwater than outside and the snow is showing on the mountain peaks. This time we found an awesome new spot, a little bit more exposed, but the spearing is worth the waves! Summer Vibes by Simon More soundcloud.com/user-73416670 Creative Comm...

This summer/autumn was truly amazing. We have spend a lot of time in these cold arctic waters. Scouting miles of desert bottom, aiming at promise looking stones, denying uber stinky wetsuits etc. Hard work, friendship and some craziness is the recipe for the but! This is some of the moments we had, put together into one mess;)

With 3 spears to the brain area, one in the spine, bled out, the big lady suprise us with one last warcry! Halibuts can have nerve reactions (muscle spasm) up to 30-40 minutes after being killed so it is priority to get spears out of the pictures as soon as possible and stay away from inflatbles. Catching this fish was a real adventure and ofc it also left us with thoughts of improvements and i...

We spearfished a Atlantic Halibut around 20 kg outside Tromsø/Norway. If you don´t hit the small brain you better have a good rig setup like this. We use a strong 20 m floatline connected to bouys. Halibuts have insane stamina!

    I don't understand why people kill fish this big. The bigger and older the worse the eating quality is. And if it's a mother fish, then the biggest ones produce a lot of quality offspring. So killing a halibut this big can have consequences on the amount of halibuts in the future. Honostly I think that's the reason why some countries ban spearfishing intirely. Sincerely a fellow spearo

    Hæ! We are Icelandic couple looking for our very first diving wet suit allowing us to be able to start our journey in arctic waters. From your video I have noticed that you are wearing a wet suit most likely 7mm, but I am confused about different types available on elios website. What would you recommend to a couple like us who want to start free diving journey in waters with temperature varying from 0 to 6 degrees Celsius Thanks in advance Lucy :)

    • @nono-i7t
      @nono-i7t 4 месяца назад

      Sorry no one responded. Maybe you already got wetsuits now. In general I see a lot of 7mm suits in these conditions - thicker exists but you'll start getting very michelin-man-like and need a LOT of lead. Open cell inside, smoothskin outside. With a 7mm suit you do not need to worry about ripping as much despite lacking nylon covering. As for type of neoprene, I don't think there's any major differences but Yamamoto is popular. You can add another nylon vest for extra warmth if needed. Make sure to get 2 or 3 fingered gloves to help your fingers from freezing. Most suits are 2 part, zippers are generally avoided.
