    I recently purchased a new home in TN, and I'm in the market to upgrade my current big box safe.
    I've been watching your videos and definitely prefer the security provided by the thicker steel in the BFII over the BFX.

    How does the BFX bolt work compare to the BFII bolt work. Which is best/more secure?

    • @parkerssafes
      @parkerssafes  3 года назад +2

      Hi Greg,
      The BFII boltwork, although not as cool, is the same boltwork that they use on their TL safes so it would be the better of the two.

  • @johnwickpick8621
    @johnwickpick8621 3 года назад

    Nice safes, just a note that bottom bolts cause lockouts. Its so easy for something to fall into the bolt cup even a coin can do it. The owner is unaware and forces the handle and lock closed causing pressure on the lock and it wont open! And if its a dial can scamble combination. I would not build a safe with them.

    • @parkerssafes
      @parkerssafes  3 года назад +5

      John, with the tolerances in these AMSEC safes, there's virtually no way that you could get the lock to lock if the bolts weren't completely extended. I see your point and pressure/ push back against a locking bolt could give us some trouble, but it would be tough to ever get the safe to close and lock if something fell into the bolt socket.

    • @johnwickpick8621
      @johnwickpick8621 3 года назад +4

      @@parkerssafes hi thanks for reply, I just want to say yours reviews are top notch! Very good instruction I advise people to watch them.
      But yes your right it would be hard to lock the safe, but you know there are those who just have to lock it and that's when it happens.
      I had to open many from big jewlers safes to small drop safes in stores from a notebook or paper under a bolt.
      Even had trays in safes that hit the back cover of door pushing out on it causing bolt pressure too.
      Little things people dont think of.
      Thanks keep up great work!

    Is this more secure than a typical RSC safe? And how would you compare it to the security of a Sturdy safe or real TL rated safe? Thanks.

    • @parkerssafes
      @parkerssafes  2 года назад +1

      Well I may be a little biased but in my opinion, yes it would be much more secure than most of your big box store RSC safes.
      Why do I say that? Well, it has a solid 1/2” plate steel door, rather than the thinner steel composite doors of most competitors. Then, the body has 2 layers of steel and 2 inches of dry light insulation rather than 1 layer of steel and drywall. I’m not real familiar with Sturdy but they seem to be well built with a good reputation.
      As for the TL, rating it would depend on the length of the rating but I’d say it’d probably pass a TL-15 test.

    • @jimsolmer1292
      @jimsolmer1292 2 года назад

      @@parkerssafes you really think it would pass a TL 15? Why don't they get a true UL test on it? If what you're saying is true then this definitely seems like the kind of safe I'm looking for.

    • @parkerssafes
      @parkerssafes  2 года назад

      @@jimsolmer1292 Well, that’s an opinion. I just think it’d most probably keep the UL guys at bay for 15 minutes. Those guys get pretty serious though so maybe I’m mistaken.

      Seems like a great safe if you are installing in a protected recess - the door seems very robust. For stand-alone I'd like thicker plate unless that concrete is really stout. Seems like anyone who could actually get into of these is smart enough to try the body first.

    Average house fire is 1400 degrees. This one is rated up to 1200. So does that mean the 120 minutes will be a lot less?

    • @parkerssafes
      @parkerssafes  2 года назад +1

      That’s a good question. I believe that American Security tests their safes at 1200° because in the past that was the standard for most jewelry safe testing. A lot of research has been done on the temperature of a house fires and it seems there’s really no set temperature.There are just way too many variables such as how the house was constructed, the contents of the home, etc. The other major concern when it comes to gun safe fire testing is that a lot of these tests are done by manufacturer sponsored testing facilities or the manufactures do their testing in house. I do like the fact that American Security sends their safes to an independent company to have them tested.
      As it relates to fire protection, our advice is to put the safe on an exterior wall in your home, and if you have extremely sensitive valuables, it never hurts to put a separate smaller fire rated safe inside of your larger fire rated safe. in a nutshell, there are quite a few companies out there that have very high ratings that I personally would not have much faith in. I do, however, feel very confident in the fire ratings of American Security safes.
