- A very important milestone song in the life and work of Sri Prasanna Venkata Daasaru. As the story goes, the ruling Peshwa sent his personal stenographer as an emissary to bring the saint to his court. The emissary invites Prasanna Venkata Daasaru and, in the process, talks about his own writing skills with a lot of pride. The saint recites an impromptu poem praising the Lord. The Kannada poetry is no less than a modern-day rap song, much to the awe of the emissary who fails to pen down the song. With his ego broken, he admits defeat.

it is interesting to know the background of the song. When prasanna venkatesa dasaru visited a kingdom, one of the minister had big golden pen and was boastful of that. Dasaru was intriued by that and asked him as to why he has that pen. The mininster arrogantly replied that he can write down instantly as others speak or sing and no one has won him. thats why he was presented with the golden pen. Dasaru said that he would compose a song and the mininster has to write it. The minister laid a condition "that song should have meaning and not just words". Dasaru readily agreed and composed this song. The concepts of Srusti, sthithi, lays is encompassed in this song Thus he sang this tongue twisting song which the mininster could not write even the starting line and it conceded his defeat and handed over the pen to Dasaru and asked for his pardon. What a lineage is our Madhva yathis and Dasarus!!!!!
