  • Hi friends! I'm back with another video :) Watch me freak out and show you how I propagate my Philodendron White Knight for my friends! Sphagnum moss is a great and safe way in my opinion to propagate your plants. It doesn't matter if it is a rare or regular plant. If you like this video, please be sure to give the video a thumbs up. Also don't forget to click subscribe to become a part of the Clay Soil family. I hope you all are doing well, and I will see you in the next video :)

    Thanks for this. How's your experience with that rooting hormone? Have they all rooted successfully?
    Also, the stem looks too green/pink for it to be a White Knight. I think you may have the white wizard.

      Thanks for watching the video! So I do like using rooting hormone as well, but I don't always use it. I will use it when I have nodes that need a little extra help to start rooting or cuttings that are taking too long to root. I never use it on plants that are being rehabbed or stressed. Sometimes I lightly scatter rooting hormone above the sphagnum moss before placing my wet sticks or cuttings on the moss for propagation. Is there anything specific you're trying to do?
      So my friend has a P. White Wizard and the stems on that are green and white, also her leaves have sections of green and white. While my plant will put out leaves that have a more marble/splash look to the leaves. Every now and then even I confuse myself lol.

    Heyyy girl!!! Are you able to tell me why my white knight and white princess cuttings that I’ve been rooting in spaghnum moss, the leaves on some are turning yellow? Almost like they’re rotting? I don’t understand because they’re rooting but I’m worried they’re going to lose leaves :( thanks love!

    I know this is an older video but wanted to comment that I’m pretty sure that plant is not a white knight. My white knight stem has a mainly red stem with white along the edges. It doesn’t quite look like my white princess either. Maybe it’s a white wizard? I hope your propagation went well! I’ve never tried the green moss for propagation. I agree it looks nicer and I might try that ! Thanks!🌱

      Thank you Kathy, I will definitely have to look into that, I thought mine was cause it had the pink and white stems, I am definitely going to look more into it! I find moss propagation the best for philodendron and anthuriums the best.

    Good tips! Although this is definitely a P. White Princess, not White Knight (or even White Wizard like some others have suggested). The pink on the stem is the giveaway.

    So it doesn't need air? Like you can close it up with no air holes? And it won't die?

    Hi, I'm pretty sure this is a White Princess. The stems are a major giveaway: In your closeups you show the plant as having mostly green stems with white variegation outlined with pink. The pink can (but very rarely) express itself on leaves of White Princesses which have a specific chimeric mutation, so I'm not surprised you only have White var on the leaves. Leaf shape shouldn't matter, all of the variegated 'royal philodendrons' tend to produce rounder and larger leaves as they mature.

      I bought this plant before pandemic back in 2019 when it only cost me $50 and back then it wasn't really popular! Can you believe it! But yeah back then it was sold to me as a white knight but really with all the information out there, I'm pretty sure it's a white wizard but I appreciate everyone's knowledge! Thank you for watching 😊

    After propagating the white knight in spagnum moss, when will you put the plant in soil? Or would you leave it in n spagnum moss only. For the soil, what soil mix do you use?

    • @ClaySoil
      @ClaySoil  3 года назад +1

      This propagation was for my friend, I would recommend you repotting it in soil during the growing season when the temperature, lighting, and humidity levels are ideal. During colder months keep it in sphagnum moss and keep an eye on the condition of it and make sure not to keep it too moist as it can cause root rot.

      @@ClaySoil actually it is a Princess. Princess is the only one of the three that has pink on the stem/petioles. Also the only one off the three that is self heading. Here’s a link that may help you.
