From the looks of this video an epic ride like this would have been the cherry on top of my 55 years on earth. Because I missed this ride I'll have to settle for watching it on RUclips. Thanks for another amazing video
I have to admit, that looks like a fun afternoon. Only a fellow train geek would understand why. Wouldn't work out where I live (SoCal), its all active mainline, virtually no secondary lines to do these kind of runs, they've all been torn up or are so short as not to be worth it.
This reminds me of when my brothers and I used to play on the Montour RailRoad . we used to sit in these and play with the controls . great memories . Ray in Pa.
Don't know how I was recommended this, but wowee this looks awesome :D Hopefully people are still doing this now, and it's amazing that people over in the States are able to re-purpose old and abandoned railways. In the UK they either get turned into preserved/heritage railways, reconnected back onto the mainline, or just flat out removed... Also, in the UK, a lot of mainlines carry 25kV AC overheads so you couldn't do this on the mainlines even if there were no trains on the tracks.
I grew up in a small town in WI. had the Burlington Route / Great Northern on one side of town, and the C&NW on the other, they had the put put cars as we called them in the 60s, loved everything railroad, still do, would love to get one of these. They even had the little side pull offs so they could get out of the way of trains on the main.
DID YOU KNOW....... most of the 1950's & 1960's American made automobiles could also ride on the rails?....just let a little air out of the tires and away you do!.......BUT ALWAYS REMEMBER TO HOLD THE STEERING WHEEL FIRMLY IN PLACE WHEN CROSSING ROADS AND SWITCHES!
Wonderful, spetacular, exciting!! I'm crazy about trains, railways, want to know more about this sport. I envy those who are in these cars. Thanks for sending!!!
I did a lot of research about this. Quite a following, lots of speeders (some very nice) for sale. This would be a true HOOT if you have an unused siding close by to enjoy by yourself. Most of these speeders come with a trailer and you drive to the location of the projected ride for that occasion. Can be quite an expensive hobby if that location is far away. 100% focus on safety and following Federal railway rules and speeder owners must quality in order to go on a run. While I enjoy the concept, I'm not the type of individual that would go to one of these events and simply play follow the leader for some hours. There is a Grand Canyon trip that follows the old Williams, AZ track up to the Canyon and back (including an overnight if wanted)...this is the same track used by the Arizona Steam train...which unfortunately now only runs on special occasions while using their retro diesel locomotives for all else.

I want to do this. I notice some of the cars only have one person in them. Do you offer a ride along? If so, PLEASE contact me. I would go rain or shine, even in the cold weather.
+100mpgus // In a different video, one of these was a small automobile, like a Mini Cooper, etc. (Remember in Back to the Future #3, they put flanged wheels on the DeLorean, so it can be done.) However, the car has to be something that can run backwards for a lap, now and then, as we just saw. OR, if you can get the wheels, you can just build something. There seems to be no requirement for authenticity.
John Moore Group speeder runs coordinated by NARCOA or locally by NEREX. These groups have an excellent reputation for safe, controlled speeder operations. They coordinate with the host railroad for permission to run and authority over the railroad. Safety, safety, safety. Speeders must comply with NARCOA's safety and equipment rules. Operators must pass a qualifying exam to operate a speeder on sanctioned runs.
+Deezildennis // Then yours better be the last car, else they will have to wait for you, and they will all know what you are doing. OR: put a little platform on the back, with one of those plastic outhouses on it. Then it really would be a PORTA-potty! (And it would make you very popular, especially with the ladies!)
The speeders are supposed to be very light and easy to lift off the track. I guess you could lift it off and let everyone go by. The problem would be the next level crossing.

Nice job of filming, enjoyed watching this.

I paralleled parked one of these in high school ,true story!
The problem with this race is it is easy to predict who will win ;-)
hostile177 Yeah but what suspense!
There isn't a race in America that can't be fixed.
I bet passing on the left would be a real bitch to aye!......LOL = Love Of Life
A special run of speeders up Crawford notch NH on conway scenics track
Awesome. My M19 has been in storage since 1985. I wonder if it's still there.
So pleased to have found your channel excellent content THANK You
Awesome video! Thanks for posting!
Terrific fun,can you build your own ? Kenworth COE cab on fabricated chassis,
Now there is an alternative holiday. great video
Looks like more fun than disneyland probly a lot cheaper too including the speeder.
I love this so much lol

Expensive, butt, XD, probably fun. I wouldn't mind having one myself, with four doors. Have a bed etc in back, a mini rv.
approximate cost for a re-conditioned speeder??
Any of such, of course, on limited income.
HOW, WHEN, WHERE, HOW MUCH, CAN I COME AND PLAY???

A few of those in the beginning either need oil or are having a flat tire, lol.
What a way to see the U S A 🇺🇲😳🙏🙏
Very neat
Great fun! But I couldn t quite make out whether they had flanged rail wheels or just road wheels with the tyres removed!??????
holy speeders so cool wow the boss is coming better be workin so cool

there are pickup truck conversion kits, at the crossing wheels down and away you go
The large speeder at 1:39, what is that ? (make and model etc) that looks very nice
need a reply

OOOO! gotta find one of these Speeders someday
Also I'd give up my collections just for 1 of these XD
US302 and SR 16 intersects at Conway, VT, so that's where this was taken (too bad title doesn't say)
This is Conway new Hampshire
Weird, but looks like great fun!
Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
could you put one of those on live tracks and dodge trains with a radio scanner?
Very kool!
What state and or part of the state are these tracks located in ? How many speeders on line ?
This is in new Hampshire, on the Conway scenic railroad
Is this something that the public can do? I would loooove to try this!
Why don't speeders trigger crossing signals as the metal wheels short across the tracks?
Какое сказочное эпичное зрелище !!!
some even have the nose shape of full size locomotives !
wooow, where is this?i live in the Netherlands(Amsterdam).do you have some info for me?i like to visit this.greetz:Peerke.
N.H. USA

I was waiting for them to go on a real lonely section. like a cattle siding or something similar .
How much is it for NARCOA insurance?
+Sheila Kelley $175 per year.
Webleys Way cheaper than Car Insurance
I wish we could do something like this in Israel.
Where is this section of track at? What state?
I would love to own one of these rail riders but these are rare and expensive; I'd even pay another person to ride along.
I could build one, where are you geographically"
They still use this line
A little shaky at 12:45..... LOL
Arent a bunch of the sections of the redstone line ripped up ?
They look kind of top heavy. I'll bet they don't handle too well.
They handle quite well. Low center of gravity. But darned cold in the Winter time unless you have a shroud.
Yes, I bet they fish tail when you do donuts with any of them................ :)
And they are very hard to steer!
And difficult to put in your pocket.
BUT vary cute and each one has it's individual voice it seems.
Just love to build a electric one with neopreme/quiet wheels.
That is quite the hobby--really cool way to get out and have a group affair
If this is an abandoned line, how is it the grade crossing signal was working at the beginning?
This is not an abandoned line, it is used by Conway scenic Railroad
If you like trains, join our club...you may get to meet one!
I apologize, I couldn't help myself I had to do that.
how do they get use of the tracks for these puddle jumpers?
John Moore Group speeder runs coordinated by NARCOA or locally by NEREX. These groups have an excellent reputation for safe, controlled speeder operations.

I would do this if I was the only one on the tracks with a full throttle. By 1:18 it looks just like my creep-along commute home on the freeway. :/
where was this at would love to do that
Does anyone do this in Michigan?
It's some sort of gang ?
Hobos on mopeds
toonerville trollies
What is this? And WHERE is this?
Are you in Ok.?
I wish I owned one
Fun
Folgen Sie dem Führer, aber es ist lustig ähnlich. Follow the leader but it looks like fun.
