For what it's worth, I just finished Ace Combat 7 on Twitch and it's available on the vods channel @marcomeatballvods. By far my favorite of AC7s more underrated tracks, right next to Sol Squadron. Ace Combat music loves to take a leitmotif and just _squeeze_ it for everything it's worth lmao
What I love about this is the leitmotif evolves throughout the game. It’s in the first mission, the second act, this one is the third act that then leads up to daredevil and hush. I consider this and the first two acts as triggers theme. Same thing happens witch archange every time you encounter Mihaly Dumitru Margareta Corneliu Leopold Blanca Karol Aeon Ignatius Raphael Maria Niketas A. Shilage.
I love how you took the time to correctly spell out his entire name! Also, technically this would be near the end of act 2 with 3 beginning with operation Siren Song onto Farbanti.
Something I absolutely adore about Faceless Soldier is how many meanings the name could have. Spare Squadron is a group full of convicts that are considered pawns. They’re attacked by drones that aren’t human. Trigger is just a faceless blank slate to project onto.
Faceless Soldier is fantastic for being yet another AC7 track that marks one of the game's "big moments" for sure. The moment when Spare Squadron gets their act together and starts flying like real pilots, when Trigger (you) first become that guiding waypoint for people to follow into the fur ball. I'd say that simply, it's the moment Three Strikes is truly born. "Stick with Trigger, and you'll make it."
Props to the editor, you got yourself a keeper! Also, that "daredevil" theme is really more the Ace Combat 7 theme, or perhaps the main characters theme. Definitely one of my favorite AC7 ost next to Daredevil and Battle for Farbanti, it really tells the full potential of Trigger's capabilities. Uplifting and full of energy especially when the motif was mentioned, love every beat of it
This track is a bouncy groove. I have no other way to describe it. The mission is fun and chill and you've got this absolute bop jamming the whole time.
Video game music Has always been such a pivotal part of the experience you get. Theres very few truly great games that have meh, or forgettable soundtracks. And virtually none that have bad soundtracks. Its almost the cherry on top of a project thats truly come together as a great game to have that artistry and passion resonate through its soundtrack. I've found myself casually listening and putting on game soundtracks from stuff like Sonic mania or AC7 at the gym rather than my own personal playlist I've made over the past 15 years.
My favorite track from Ace Combat 7, besides everyone's favorite, "Daredevil". This plays when you're in a desperate situation, but due to the quick thinking of one of your allies, everyone rallies behind you. And for the first time with this squadron, you actually coordinate and work together. They do this, knowing that if they stick with you... they'll make it. Amazing, Marco. Just amazing.
"Faceless Soldier" is the track that not only made me listen to the rest of AC7's OST, but it's what made me more appreciative of music overall. I first heard it while I was watching my brother play Ace Combat 7. It sounded pretty neat, but there was all of the other sounds that blocked it out in its purest form. So I looked for it, found it, and I've been hooked ever since. That first "drop" was like getting slapped in the face and told to wake up. That there are so many combinations for so many instances of context. That music overall is not just music. They are stories, they are the stories they describe. I have since learned to pay more attention to music, especially pieces and songs written for video games. Thanks for going over this Marco. I've waited patiently since I mentioned it in an earlier video of yours and you can't imagine the excitement I felt when I saw it pop up in recommended. I can't wait for more!
In my opinion this is the most emotional part of Ace Combat 7 - when the squadron teams up on Trigger and the music lifts the entire game to a completely new level. The game as well as the music is a master piece. Can't wait for Ace Combat 8...
"Hey remember that cool flight game you saw years ago on youtube?" "Yeah, what was it called, ace combat or something?" "Yeah, imma check it out again." That was my first introduction to the series. As for Marco, he was lured by Zero into the deep rabbit hole of AC OSTs. Can't wait to see his reaction to some of the lesser known OSTs like Blockade, First Flight, and other tracks from the 45Z6 quadrilogy, maybe even a few songs from Project Wingman such as Showdown, or fan projects like Lucas Riccotti's Tournament of Aces.
I can't wait to see what you think of the music in situ with the intended context! The way the tracks come in bit by bit throughout the stages of the game, coming to their crescendo in Daredevil, just makes it such a grand experience. Also, your editor is an ace at their craft!
I think the way Ace combat uses leitmotiffs is one of the best ive ever seen. The players motiff used in faceless soldier and daredevil being the most prolific whilst also adapting very well to fit the situation. Faceless soldier in this regard being your chance at redemption from Spare Squadron. I think my favorite use of the motiffs though has to be the use of Mihaly's motiff from archange and sol squadron in epilouge. It brings a more sad mournfull quality to the motiff that had previously all through the game been used more epic operatic battle music.
I just noticed when listening to the soundtrack that Mihaly's motiff is also used in the background of "The UAV Factory" to represent how his flight data has been added to the drones! ...I love this soundtrack....
Considering the point that you're at in the game's story, this is really the part where everyone acknowledges that you are a badass pilot. And this song encapsulates that perfectly.
the editor's floating furniture took me out lmao 😭👌 I always love seeing more ace combat love on here, glad this track's getting the recognition it deserves
I still remember when they premiered the first trailer with gameplay (post-teaser) on PSX 2016. This was the first track we've heard from the OST of the game. To this day, Faceless Soldier is still one of my favorite tracks from the entire OST.
When I first heard this song it was the game trailer which made me think it was the main theme but no the "flagship" song turned out to be Daredevil lol.
Faceless is one of those tracks like magic spear that is usually overlooked for things like daredevil or alicorn but sing loud and proud know their place and knock it out of the park when they are given their time.
Every song in Ace Combat 7 is perfect for its mission. Even the less memorable ones are perfect for the importance of the mission. Like the first mission, the music is nothing special, but it fits. And when you're sneaking through the radar net, it's lowkey, because you're keeping low. But when the rescue starts, that beat hits because it's all on. Then there's the Yinshi Valley track. It's so chill, but somehow still fits the mission. "Oh, you know, just a casual suicide mission for our plucky band of convicts in mountainous terrain with extreme winds."
This was the track for one of the trailers. Definitely hyped up all of the AC fandom. Never knew these vocals were in Latin. Very cool to hear it outside of the typical orchestral singing. Excellent analysis
I don't think I've recommended a specific soundtrack before, but I have to recommend this gem. This was made for an anime and while I wouldn't recommend such anime to you, the ost from it makes you feel ~alive~. Not that the anime is bad per say, but my gut's telling me you "might" not be able to handle it. The name of soundtrack I'm suggesting you give a listen to is Hanezeve Caradhina.
This track was the official wow-moment. Well... First of many. When spares finally got their shit together and even AWACS Bandog forgets to scorn you at every sentence. "I'll decide when you die!" Sounds more like encouragement than his usual prison warden's spite during that chaotic furball. And when that 3:12 hits, it's like he and the whole sqaudron are actually a functioning unit. If daredevil is accompanied with copious amount of missile warnings, that last part of faceless soldier is paired with Bandogs "Helios inbound, 3.. 2... 1..."-warnings
We (ace combat fans) heard this music before we got the game, as you probably know since we saw trailers here. But, before the game came out and we heard Daredevil, there were plenty of people who thought this would be in the final superweapon fight (as is ace combat tradition, all games must include a tunnel run and end with a superweapon fight, and we don't talk about Assault Horizon). Basically, where Daredevil is now - And it *almost* works, if you forget about the "language" the music speaks to tell us where we are in the game (Spare's music features that twangy guitar sound, LRSSG's doesn't), you can imagine the climax coming as Rosa takes down the generators and lets us shoot the Arsenal Bird, and the sounds of triumph and conflict telling us we can win if we just see it through, even if AB is still a dangerous foe. ... But man, am I glad we got Daredevil instead. It's such a perfect song for where it is and what it's doing, and the moment we get in the actual game when the shield falls is one of those moments of musical perfection that I can't get enough of. Daredevil is one of those songs that I can hear play in my head, and every time it makes me want to see that moment again. ... Speaking of which, I guess I've gotta go play Lighthouse again....
What you called the "Daredevil motif" was what, if I remember correctly, either Kono or Kobayashi (respectively, the director and one of the main composers and sound director of AC7) stated in an interview that it was the theme of The Sky.
It comes off a little like a prayer before battle. Princess Cosette: "Can you hear me? Pilot with the Three Strikes?" Trigger: *O aeternal land in which the noble sun arises; o warm light to set the morning hush - illuminate the sleeping ones...*
I love Spare Squadron and this song is their finest and highest moment when they finally transform into a real squadron. What a shame that it is also our final mission with them, I would love to have more time with Spares and Bandog.
I really hope you listen to get the chance to listen to other Ace Combat tracks some day, not all of them have any kind of leitmotif but they’re all equally good
I've certainly got a game OST you'd probably either love or just think: "eh" I BEG YOU to listen to the Deep Rock Galactic soundtrack, namely the ambient song called "Echoes From The Past", but all of the songs are great, scout's honor. Oh, and Roboquest has nice music, too. Namely "Aftershock", however, it's unlisted, at least the final version is.
ah yes. enjoying the music how it was supposed to be listened to. with copious amounts of missile warnings. also the "daredevil" motif is just the game's/trigger's main motif. it's like the guardian theme that shows up in raid music for destiny 2.
Faceless Soldier is the other side of the coin. If Daredevil is the woman part, epic orchestral piece where you could picture a painting of heroes fighting an enemy which shoots three hundred energy blasts at you, Faceless Soldier is the men part where determination, grit and strength are bound together by unbreakable will. It is the moment where the heroes put aside their differences and steeled their resolves.
1:37 reminds me of naruto shippuden theme song ost called "experienced many battles" it's not exactly it but the climbing of the notes reminds me of it
Im trying to think of more AC7 tracks you may enjoy but running out of longer ones lol. But i think if you react to both of these in one video, you'll enjoy them. Drag Racer and Sol Squadron are both fairly short but very powerful with elements of both the main theme for the former and Arcange for the latter. Also "Peace" from Ace Combat 5 is the ending song that plays during the epilogue. Again not super long but kind of helps wrap up everything.
I love the detailed musical and lyrical analysis, but really, the only review this song needs is Marco bopping along with it for three minutes. If I may might make a song recommendation, I'd love to hear your thoughts on "Decisive Battle 1" from Octopath Traveler 1. Everyone goes crazy over Daughter of the Dark God, Decisive Battle 2, etc -- and, don't get me wrong, rightfully so -- but I think it's the very first boss battle theme that really shows Yasunori Nishiki at his best, his true mastery of the form we call "Video game music." It would be great to hear others' agreements (or disagreements!) on the subject!
The only reason I watch your videos is because no one translates a music like you. And Ill always love ace combat 7. Game and music, no matter what anyone says. I can hear its music a hundred times and never have enough of it.
Remember the game was delayed to make Daredevil. Technically speaking, Daredevil is a remix of Faceless Soldier ;) This track is very prayer like, especially the beginning.
@@MarcoMeatball oh congrats Im so glad you liked it. Now you gotta play the former ones lol. There's a lot of call backs to previous titles in AC7. I think starting with Ace Combat 4 (then working up 5, Zero 6) you'll get more information on everything
You should absolutely listen to "Fathomless Tomb" from Deep Rock Galactic! Its a very long song but thats because it is a beautiful story in song form.
Worth noting about this track and a few others from the game is that slightly off sounding guitar strumming (theres probably a term for it but idk) You only hear it in a few missions, slight spoilers ahead. But I think it really fits the kind of chaotic, rebelious vibe of the squadron you fly with during that part of the game, and this is the track where that squadron actually properly comes together as a proper unit, and my f#cking god does this track make that moment hit. And I think that little guitar strum leading right into it really solidifies the whole thing.
You peaked my interest towards this series. I am thinking of getting the old console just to play through the series, and then hit off the Skies Unknown on my PC. Gotta finish Project Wingman first tho xD
@@MarcoMeatball My brother in christ, i love watching your videos. You nerd out about music as much as my ADHD having ass does :D I overanalyse music when i listen to it xD
Do you think you could listen to (catastrophic fabrication) in terraria Calamity mod? In the stream you listened to (inferior fabrications) which at the time was a place holder for the exo mechs.
Have you listened to any of the music from either halo wars 2 or halo infinite? I think you might enjoy them. None of the composers are at Mary O'donnel level but especially the soundtrack of halo infinite gives me the feeling of a very sincere homage to the old music. Tracks such as "Zeta Halo", "Sacrifice", "We do it together" (which also has an amazing cutscene) and "finale" are favourites of mine. I don't often buy vinyls but I had to add this soundtrack to my collection
Originally I had no idea the lyrics were Latin. I figured it was one African language or another (doesn't it give you that vibe?) and when I discovered the lyrics I was pleasantly surprised. (I probably should not have been surprised since this is Ace Combat, therefore many things are in Latin.) The lyrics have to do with Sol Squadron and Mihaly's kingdom, though the details escape me just now. Lastly, the second of 3 parts to me is very "Have I mentioned we're in an Ace Combat game lately?"
Reminder to please react to music from the Yakuza series, specifically, "Dig In Your Heels" into "Unwavering Belief" the final boss theme from Lost Judgment. Those 2 tracks fit together perfectly and they're incredible
The problem with calling other songs a remix of Daredevil is that Daredevil was the last song made for the game. The games release date was delayed for it. Also, I like how you tried to say Ace Combat 7 as much as possible.
Ik its a movie not a game but like I really would like to see a reaction to persecution of the masses from shin godzilla knowing the producers the movie tho it'd probably not be on yt for very long

-someone's comment on Zap's video, I think
Oh hell yeah. If you can swing it play as many of them as you can. AC has always had insanely good OSTs through and through
I really hope you listen to get the chance to listen to other Ace Combat tracks some day, not all of them have any kind of leitmotif but they’re all equally good
hearing this music while there some radio chatter on background, my man. the feeling 🥲🥲
Nice reaction! Also I can't wait to see you listen to "Journey home radio version" from Ace Combat 5!
"Fullband, whats your location?"
"The tail end!"
"Understood.. heh.."
Marco be like:
ACE COMBAT 7
Btw nice reaction buddy!
easily my favorite track from the game, especially with the drop about 50 seconds in
I've certainly got a game OST you'd probably either love or just think: "eh"
I BEG YOU to listen to the Deep Rock Galactic soundtrack, namely the ambient song called "Echoes From The Past", but all of the songs are great, scout's honor.
Oh, and Roboquest has nice music, too. Namely "Aftershock", however, it's unlisted, at least the final version is.
THE BEST OST EVER!
the editing is top tier
"The Kingdom ot Erusea has declared war on the Osean Federation."
"But isn't that country a whole continent away from here?"
A little late, but finally you'll be able to hear the nessecary "MISSILE MISSILE MISSILE" alerts to truly understand Daredevil XD
Sulejmani is an amazing piece too from the Ace Combat series
In Ace Combat you know you're properly fucked when the clouds start singing in Latin.
ah yes. enjoying the music how it was supposed to be listened to. with copious amounts of missile warnings.
also the "daredevil" motif is just the game's/trigger's main motif. it's like the guardian theme that shows up in raid music for destiny 2.
AWCAS: Full Band what’s your position?
Full Band: The tail end!
RIP to Full Band
Drinking Game: Everytime he says “Ace Combat 7”, take a shot.
*Passed out drunk in Twenty Seconds*
“Stick With Trigger You Will Make It“
Faceless Soldier is the other side of the coin.
I've got a comprehensive music essay about ac7 coming super soon once i script my thoughts
@@MarcoMeatball That is amazing to hear!
@@MarcoMeatball Definitely looking forward to that
I love the detailed musical and lyrical analysis, but really, the only review this song needs is Marco bopping along with it for three minutes.
This one is definitely up there for me, they really made it hard to pick a favourite track in just AC7, not considering other games
The only reason I watch your videos is because no one translates a music like you. And Ill always love ace combat 7. Game and music, no matter what anyone says. I can hear its music a hundred times and never have enough of it.
Wow, nice as always
That moment when Marco be hoppin!
Remember the game was delayed to make Daredevil. Technically speaking, Daredevil is a remix of Faceless Soldier ;)
This track is very prayer like, especially the beginning.
I’m surprised I missed the one I normally see all your ace combat
Im so glad you're gonna do a play thru of AC7. If you got any questions or tips, let me know, happy to help. I think you're gonna really like it.
I already finished it actually as of this week. I did in fact love it.
@@MarcoMeatball oh congrats
Im so glad you liked it. Now you gotta play the former ones lol. There's a lot of call backs to previous titles in AC7. I think starting with Ace Combat 4 (then working up 5, Zero 6) you'll get more information on everything
Ace combat 7 is dope and so is the music
You should absolutely listen to "Fathomless Tomb" from Deep Rock Galactic! Its a very long song but thats because it is a beautiful story in song form.
Please look at the Polumnia Omnia (Live Version) and Project Wingman music
No live version! I've covered scaramouche enough here :) also yes go project wingman
Worth noting about this track and a few others from the game is that slightly off sounding guitar strumming (theres probably a term for it but idk)
You only hear it in a few missions, slight spoilers ahead.
YESSSSS
@@MarcoMeatball My brother in christ, i love watching your videos. You nerd out about music as much as my ADHD having ass does :D
I overanalyse music when i listen to it xD
Get that man a drum kit lol
SO good!
Now its time to listen to amatsu theme 😈 the heavenly god of calamity awaits
(I probably should not have been surprised since this is Ace Combat, therefore many things are in Latin.)
The lyrics have to do with Sol Squadron and Mihaly's kingdom, though the details escape me just now.
Lastly, the second of 3 parts to me is very "Have I mentioned we're in an Ace Combat game lately?"
Just finished Ace Combat 7, not going to lie, none of the track is a let down even the OST for Sorting your Planes
>
HOW DID I MISS THIS???!?!!!! MARCOOOOOOOOOOO!!??!!!
Lololkl
Give me a gladiator vibe
Trigger is basically Inhuman
How many G he's takes
He still can beat everything lmao
Next Limbus Company - "Between two World"?
There aren't enough AC7 let's plays on RUclips tbh
This is unrelated to the video but you have to listen to Tenebre Rosso Sangue from the ultrakill ost
I did!
Reminder to please react to music from the Yakuza series, specifically, "Dig In Your Heels" into "Unwavering Belief" the final boss theme from Lost Judgment. Those 2 tracks fit together perfectly and they're incredible
Trigger's Theme!!!!
Ace Combat 7 *Vine boom*
The problem with calling other songs a remix of Daredevil is that Daredevil was the last song made for the game. The games release date was delayed for it. Also, I like how you tried to say Ace Combat 7 as much as possible.
the longing ost please
love your video! please do Jack Wall - I Live (Orchestral Version)[lower pitch version is even better] from Call of Duty black ops 3,it's amazing
Ik its a movie not a game but like I really would like to see a reaction to persecution of the masses from shin godzilla knowing the producers the movie tho it'd probably not be on yt for very long
Moon Halo when?
