    The funky wonderful marriage of Boy George and New Jack Swing..

    • @RocStarr913
      @RocStarr913 10 месяцев назад

      It shows how willing Boy George was to try different things with his music. It was Virgin’s American branch that had the idea to have him do new jack swing. George was absolutely displeased with the Teddy Riley songs, but because the Tense Nervous Headache album had been cancelled in his home country of Britain, the record label needed to replace some of the songs with the Teddy Riley songs to release the album in America as High Hat. High Hat likely would have been released in Britain as well, but “Don’t Take My Mind On A Trip” flopped there.

      @RocStarr913 10 месяцев назад

      Yes. He clearly wasn’t used to being given other people’s songs, especially ones that had already been rejected for other singers, which in this case was Bobby Brown. The songs likely may not have been released right then and there if the Tense Nervous Headache album had not been cancelled in his home country of Britain. The record label had spent plenty of money of songs Boy George had recorded and needed something that would particularly sell in America after the Sold album pretty much flopped there.

    Although Boy George hated this track, I think it's one of his best!!! Top 5 RnB and top 30 Dance!!! I still have the 12" vinyl!!!

    I remember when this song came out I had no idea who sang it. But in my heart of hearts I knew it had to be Boy George. He has such a recognizable voice. 20+ years later I finally found out that it was him. Love this song!

    BET and Urban Radio played this song a lot back in the day. Who could blame them? This song was and still is THE JAM. This was also, in my opinion, a good look for Boy George. No homo. Glad that, in this video, his image was not so soft.
