Still listening in 2024 and sound just as great as when I first heard it. Great memories.. We will never hear music as beautiful as this and others anymore. 💯🤷🏾♂️
So true Beverly, difficult days were eased by real songs from real people, with real instruments! Every day is a NEW day, the water has passed under that bridge. Keep it real, and enjoy the moment (not easy at times). Wish you good, in all you do. Peace and one love.
My favorite Culture Club song. It's so classy and lush. The early 80s had some gorgeous sophisticated pop music and I was glad to be there for all of it!
I had the privilege to start my own DJ business way back in 1983 to 1991 and enjoyed every minute... This 80's era of music was the greatest ever... So many great artists😊.... I did this in Sydney & Melbourne Australia... Was booked months ahead after the first year of DJ ING alone...loved it... Sold my business in 1992, but kept all my vinyl precious records.... I'm so happy I did....😊😊
The Sherri Shephard show bought me here today . Boy George was a guest . I can’t believe it is 42 years later . I was a freshman in high school when this was released . Song still holds up after 4 decades
Whoever wrote/created the different parts for all these instruments to play together is really amazing. The string line was stunning!..it supports the Vocal yet it was commanding without over powering the Vocal. The bass line was very groovy...not busy all the time but with enough gap in between the notes to give the beautiful 'flavour' required. The Melody of the vocal is quite simple, but the arrangement propelled it high.
I agree with you all the way. Technology has put a distance between us . Mankind. It's getting worst as time goes by . It's 2024. I wonder in 2030. It would more distant. Worst. But it is what it is. Life goes on. Life is about changes
George O”Dowd was a fantastic soulful singer back in the day. Everybody got preoccupied with the whole Boy George look but his music and band created some of the best pop music of the early 80s. A bIg shout out to Helen Terry who sang back up on many of their classics too
I don't know why your comment reminded me of his song, "Don't Take My Mind on a Trip". I had the "cassingle" and played the heck out of it! I've gotta go look that up. 😁
God I can remember this like it was yesterday. Great times theses was. Boy George and the culture club. Music was spectacular than and still is just as beautiful now and then. ♾️✌️💯
This is a classic that will stand the test of time. A truly beautiful composition sung by an exceptional vocalist in Boy George. This hits me right in the heart light ❤
My favorite Culture Club song! Junior year of high school! I love you 80s. Miss you tremendously! High School class of 1984! '84 has more! From Loudoun County,Va.😎😎😎😎😎⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾. Happy to be born in July of 1966!
I remember when Do You Really Want To Hurt Me came out, I was waiting on line with my Dad to check out at some store in a local mall and this song was on MTV on a TV above the cashier. He turned and looked down at me, pointed to the screen and told me, "Look, it's Boy George. He sounds like Smokey Robinson." I smiled and nodded.
This is what happened when the British kids born in the 50's listened to the Motown, Stax, and Lamont-Dozier records their parents owned...early 80's British Pop! And THIS band, imo, absolutely NAILED IT with THIS song. The vocals, the longing progression, and those SWEET, sweet strings arrangements...my god, I MISS songs like THIS...CLASSIC!
My absolute favourite of all the Culture Club songs, by far. The strings, oh my... they sound *glorious* on this version! Thank you for creating and sharing this one!
"Time (Clock Of The Heart)" is my favorite Culture Club song. Even 39 years later, the lyrics stir strong emotions, especially the way Boy George sings them. The Bonnie Raitt song "Nick Of Time" is another example of great lyrics.
This music was so ahead of its time, I remember being a junior in high school, this hit transcended all genres. Smooth bassline & Boy George with that undeniable delivery, how I miss the 80’s
Yes indeed! A number of New Wave bands, Electro-pop groups & singers channeled the Motown & early 60s vibe. (which also highlights why so much music since the 90s has sucked...it doesn't reference the great music that came before...it doesn''t contribute to the timeline of creativity in popular or alternative music)
it was the most greatest and beautiful song from culture club Every time i hear it turns me so back to sweet yesterday that i do not want to go back to today this is magic that never gone
WOW!, I'm 59. This takes me back to the 80"s, MTV, and roller rinks. Dam, miss those days. So great to be born at the right time. Wish the young generation could experience the 80's. The world would be better today. Old school sighing out.....
the BEST CC song....i was finishing up my jr yr in HS when this came out....i really loved the bells near the end of the song. with some radio stations, you heard "more bells" depending on when they decided to cut the record....this definitely takes me back to when music was great, had meaning....
One of the many great things about these mixes is the layers of sound missed on the radio and album versions. Back in 1982, I wasn’t a fan of “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me”, but then “Time” came out and loved it. The instrumental from 6:27 to the end is rich and beautiful. Well done!

The master weaves his magic yet again. Beautiful. What an amazing mix here. I was only listening to this song on the radio yesterday. 17 years old and at college when this came out. We didn't know whether Boy George was male or female when we first saw him on that Thursday night on 'Top of the Pops'. Well he stood the test of time and in truth he was and is bloody brilliant. Love Helen Terry's backing vocals too. I've loved listening to this tonight. Once again thank you for a fantastic mix DJ DiscoCat
Thank you for the mix I never knew was missing from my life! This is one of my favorite Culture Club songs. I never realized how beautiful the string sections are until just now! ❤

80s was everything, the music, the fashion, disco and clubbing. No smart phones, just living in real time.
Your so right!
Yeah, I hear ya!

The world was at peak performance for sure. Something about that decade made me think of hope.

I Never Heard This One. I'm Going To Have To Check Out Their Stuff!
I think Boy George is still soulful to this day, alot of voices out there, but there is only Boy George and one CC!!
All of the voices and musical instruments make this song outstanding.
I don't know why your comment reminded me of his song, "Don't Take My Mind on a Trip". I had the "cassingle" and played the heck out of it! I've gotta go look that up. 😁
Totally agree. There's no denying BG talent as singer, writer and composer. A nemorable song of that glorious era.
I do not care what anybody says Boy George is one of the best pop singers ever. Nobody sounds like Boy George when he sings......
I'm sitting here 40 years later saying the same thing❤❤❤he evokes feelings in me that no other artist can❤
I Concur ❤
Every time I've seen CC live, I have shed tears of strong emotion. Great song writing.. great talent, a very real soul George O Dowd..

Great quote 😊 it must have been epic seeing all those bands pop up practicaly at the same time. Culture Club, Duran, Kajagoogoo, ABC..
I don't think I'd compare Boy George to Smokey Robinson but this song called Time is a classic.

"Time (Clock Of The Heart)" is my favorite Culture Club song. Even 39 years later, the lyrics stir strong emotions, especially the way Boy George sings them.
The Bonnie Raitt song "Nick Of Time" is another example of great lyrics.
And, also during the 80s, Rush's "Time Stand Still" has great lyrics & the wonderful Amiee Mann doing backup vox! 👍👍
🎤 Mine too 💚
I totally agree with everything you said ! Especially Bonnie Raitt's songs "Nick of Time" & "I Can't Make You Love Me" ! 100% Classics !
Oh what a track the strings, the baseline and the superb vocals and then that sax takes me back to a special time the 80s were a wonderful time ⏲
