  • This is Taurus' attempt at a "Performance Center" type of offering. It costs just shy of 200 clams more than the regular version. What do you get? Is it that much nicer? Is the higher cost justified?
    Let's find out!
    Dear Tech Overlords,
    All guns are safe, in a safe environment. We aren't shooting it, we are just taking it out of the box, looking at it and talking about what I like or don't like. There is no policy violation, and no reason to digitally smite me from on high.
    Regards,
    One of the Peasants.

    Just picked up the Ultra lite version and it's not the executive model but does come with the ameriglo sight already installed. Love it in the black mat version. I owned the snubby bobbed hammer model and sold it. Missed it so much I bought the 3 in. model. I swapped the grips out for a nice set of red altamonte combat grips and it looks amazing. I like yours a lot too. Very classy.

    Looks similar to the Ruger SP101, I just sold two of them, a 3-inch bbl and a 4.25-inch bbl; both chambered in .357 magnum. Market is strong and a well cared-for piece brings as much or (in my case) more than they cost a few years ago, things are tightening up. Proud of Taurus lately.

    I wish they'd keep the oversized Pelican-style box and make this $425-$450. Excellent review, and thank you for discussing the holster options...that's a good looking leather paddle holster.

      cheaper is always better, but I get why they wanted to include a nice case with their premium revolver line, rather than the cardboard box they usually give you... Having a sturdy, TSA approved case is a nice touch.

      @@SquireSCAMost people don't need a TSA approved case. If they do, they will buy one.

      @@la_old_salt2241 Maybe but its a nice touch, for a very nicely finished revolver. I am not gonna complain.

    I was very impressed with the 856 executive I checked out at my local shop. Taurus in general has been really righting the ship lately and adding Caleb Giddings to help develop the revolver lines a bit more has been awesome. I have been considering grabbing one of their 856 TORO's or this executive as a training gun for my M19CC to keep round count a little lower on that.

    Nice gun! I just picked up a model 37 no dash Smith for OWB carry. Would love to see a Taurus equivalent with the Executive.treatment.

    I changed the front sight, and changed grips and carry in a simply rugged OWB holster. This is the only Taurus I own, I like my SP 101 better but couldn’t pass this one up

    Nice review. FYI. Ammo can be in the same case Thru tsa with the gun. It just has to be secured. So you could have the ammo in speed loaders or an ammo box (preferable )in the same case as gun. Just can’t have the cylinders loaded.

    The grips appear to be the same Altamont walnut units found on the Colt Python. They look great, but on my 856 Exec. Grade I have found them to be a bit slippery when my hands get sweaty (the back of the grip is very smooth). So I searched for a way to add some traction to the back of the grip, and found "Secopad" non-slip vinyl strips on Amazon. They're cheap, transparent, a good width (0.8"), stick tightly, and limit the slipping. 'Love the gun. BTW, while the new Taurus-USA HQ is in Georgia, the gun is built in Brazil, with the grip attached after it arrives in Georgia, where it likely has a second final inspection.

      I haven't shot it sweaty, but that is good to know. Its a beautiful and well made revolver, and def a keeper.

    • @SquireSCA
      @SquireSCA  6 месяцев назад +1

      Never did one. I have more guns than I can shoot, honestly, so some never get any range time, and a lot of them end up getting sold at some point, as they were just collecting dust in the safe...

    Taurus revolvers after 1990 hit or miss
    Taurus customer service non existent

    • @SquireSCA
      @SquireSCA  Год назад +1

      I wouldn't know about their customer service. Of the 25 or so Taurus guns I have owned over the years, none of them ever had issues...
      The problem with gun guys and the internet, is that 4 or 5 people can post problems on a forum from 14 years ago, and those stories got shared and repeated and before you know it, a 0.01% failure rate on the market is a "50/50 hit or miss" notion that is forever stuck in someone's head and no amount of data or people having good experiences will ever change that.
      They "know what they know", even if what they know is wrong. haha

    you said "you think " so youve never obv fired this weapon .....the things people say to make a buck

    • @SquireSCA
      @SquireSCA  Год назад +2

      Yes. It's an UNBOXING video. No, I didn't shoot the gun I just bought and took out of the box, here in my office... That's why I said "I think", rather than "This is what I experienced first hand when I took it to the range?
      There is a difference between an unboxing and specs video, versus a range review. You know that, right?
      I guess you are new to the internet. Don't worry, you will get the hang of it. We will get through this together... Daddy's got you.

    • @SquireSCA
      @SquireSCA  Год назад +3

      Another point... I have owned several Taurus 85 and 856 Revolvers. Of the 856 models, I have owned and shot both 2 and 3 inch models in both steel and ultra lite variants.
      This one has different grips and is hand polished. The only real difference mechanically is the trigger, which should be better than the regular models.
      Not sure why this upsets you. As for the making a buck. I make more in 3 hours at my day job than I make here in a month.

    • @SquireSCA

      Why are so many gun guys on the spectrum? Angry, bitter, hostile and more than a little paranoid.
      If they allow ammo in the same box, great. No need to be a little angry girl about it.
      Your people skills are non-existent.

    • @SquireSCA
      @SquireSCA  Год назад +2

      I don't even mind being corrected. It's the abusive and shitty nature of your response, the total lack of class or people skills, that I find annoying.
      A simple statement of "You know. the ammo can be in the same box, so long as it is not loose and not in the weapon"... at which point I would have thanked you, put a correction in the video and called it a day.
      Did someone not get enough hugs as a kid? Lighten up, Francis... ;-)

      You're the reason people hate gun people, if you can't control your temper maybe don't touch guns for the sake of everyone around you
