Lyric is good, no pauses, gives other commentator a chance to go inbetween. Calls out all the character moves correctly. Correctly analyzes that the true finals after reset is a slower game played between both parties. Final rating 9.5/10.
I think what makes it exciting is it's a pretty fast paced matchup; frantically listing off half the moves being used as they come out doesn't really add all that much, for me at least. Also it would help if they understood the game a little better, like how light was obviously pissed at himself for missing the guaranteed jab-lock upsmash at 16:56, he wasn't yelling at jakal, and how the forward smash at 5:53 was pretty clearly a misinput not a display of confidence, probably supposed to be a dash attack. I don't expect commentators to catch everything, but creating false narratives around things they don't understand is just silly. I see how the haphazard style might be fun for more casual spectators though.
What's even cooler is you get both sides being cooked. How it ends if Star Wolf bodied Fox and how it would look when Fox bodies Wolf in an all out brawl
Nahhh light was definitely, like “wtf was that?🥴” either he was mixed or Light was hella patient with that tech chase like a pro player should be, and reacted appropriately to get the stock.
This IS ultimately the defining factor that separates amazing players like jackal from a world class top player like light. Notice how jackal was cooking light the first set but even tho he got 3-0d he was able to adapt and learn jakals habits the first set and just apply the download and just steamroll him in set 2. These top 10 players are truly something else. Super fun sets. Ggs to to both players.
Eh. I see what you're tryna say but it took light 3 games to finally adapt. Had this been a regular set light would've lost. Meanwhile light came with a brand new strategy jakal wasn't ready for. It's possible he could've adapted also but didn't have more time
Light in set #2 is him at his best. He's more calculated and patient rather than in your face improvising. That's pretty much how I play with Fox against a lot of players. Patience + Reaction + Fox's speed is deadly. Get in and get out. Do enough physical damage to where it leads to mental/emotional damage and make them get sloppy trying to come forward and get theirs back. Once that happens make them pay for it 🦊💯
I think there's setplay going on here. In the first set you can tell light is kinda just getting hit by Jakal's arials. You can kinda tell he's not really thinking about it and kinda just rushing in. Jakal keeps throwing out nairs and back airs, but Light continues to ariel approach and get hit by stuff. This is pretty noticeable in the first set imo I might be wrong, but I wouldn't be surprised if I were to learn that Light was intentionally thinking less about certain kill options to get Jakal used to landing them. Notice how in the second set the games are NOT close, primarily because Jakal has so much trouble killing Light now that the arials aren't landing as much. This is once again my own head-canon about the set. If it were true like I think it is, it's totally awesome that Light could implement a strategy like this. You'd only know to do it if you'd experienced a lot of grand finals from the winner's side.
Lyric is a great commentator but they have to like... give the other commentator a chance. And also breathe, lmao I can tell the excitment was taking over!
It coukd be better, but it’s great to land a few as a combo starter. 2 lasers on k-rool followed by a dash attack will lead to about 8 up tilts in a row. Same with many other characters.
@@estabravo nah they both suck tbh no hype no energy out of either its grand finals thn true finals i want hype i want reactions hbox wouldve done better
Man, a Spacey grand finals. This was some of the most exciting matches to watch in a long time, very nice change of pace to all the DLC characters.
Incredible adaptation on the reset. Those up tilts changed the flow of the game
This is the kind of ultimate i want to see more of. lit set
The commentary from the girl made this set 10times more exciting!
Thank you
Lyric! She rules
Yeah she’s from Philly she’s awesome

Light knew what time it was, rolled them sleeves up early
Jakal was cooking Light, till he wasn't
U 3-0 me? No I 3-0 u
Jakal gets massively tilted, it’s always been his biggest weakness
Canon matchup Star fox Vs Star wolf lets goo cool shit.

lights face after jakal does the no tech mix at 16:56
Lmfao 🤣 he was like no shit 🤣
He made that face because he messed up not because jakal did anything right/wrong

@@MindgaminguNah he just missed the up smash after the jab lock

Lyric is her name. I like her too!
I legit think she might be one of ult’s best commentators

Killer matches! Loved seeing these two go blow for blow on the first set. Then Light says noughs nough and adapts quick.
Canonically accurate matchup
Love to see that

You can't say that it's the top player difference when light literally got 3-0'd. On paper, both players performed equally in these two sets.

Light jumping at the abyss at 10:50 lmao
This was an insane set, wowowow
Why did light get mad at the no tech get up? Lol. Was it perceived as intentional disrespect?
I think he was mad that he inputted upsmash and it didn’t come out

a full set reverse 3-0😭
How did Jakal not fall off the ledge and kept running towards it at 11:57 ?
Sticky run I believe, there is a weird way to set it up without A+B smash
@@coveryourears3851 interesting, only knew the A+B smash while turning around method, will search for the other method for the sake of schmoovement
