      I am interested to get certified. May I ask why you decided to get your certification in Tulum and not in Florida?

    • @flyinghigh370
      @flyinghigh370 2 года назад +1

      @@Ken-vl4wk The cave cert was so rewarding and I recommend it!! I was on a dive trip in Cozumel and wanted to check out a cenote cavern dive. I decided to stay a few days in Tulum and do some training to be able to see a few cenotes and learn something. More efficient! So (long story short) I contacted a guy that is a senior member of the cave community in Tulum and went for a cavern dive. I also got my side mount cert the first day. He asked how I was feeling and if I wanted to see the cave. I said YES! After that first day I was hooked. Just fell in love with caves. I bypassed Cavern training and used the days I had remaining in my trip to finish my TDI "Intro to Cave" cert. I did not have enough time to do full cave. I just went back 2 years later (last month, darn Covid...) and finished my full cave and did an intro to stage tank diving and DPV's. So amazing. My next trip will be to Florida to see those caves. You'll hear about "Florida" style and "Mexico" style cave diving. Same same but different. Doesn't matter where you learn, I think. I went back to Mexico because I really liked my instructor, I love tacos, and Mexico caves are crazy beautiful. They are also on average shallower than Florida, have less flow and are maybe easier to dive. Just my opinion, at the moment. I'm looking forward to experiencing Florida caves in the next months. It's highly addictive!. If you go to Mexco, look up "Cenote Republic" on Instagram or FB and send Luis Leal a message. He's a great instructor.

    • @BlueWorldTV
      @BlueWorldTV  2 года назад +1

      Mexico caves are also a little more reliable. Many Florida caves sometimes flow "backwards" when it has been raining, so that the river goes into the spring, instead of the other way around. So it becomes a siphon and the viz is bad. However Florida is closer for Americans and doesn't require international travel.

    • @BlueWorldTV
      @BlueWorldTV  2 года назад +2

      The big fisheye is an Inon conversion lens that helps reduce chromatic aberration caused by the GoPro flat port, and give you the same angle of view underwater as air. Really VASTLY improves the image quality of the GoPro. We plan on doing a little Tech with Todd on @blueworld_plus about it. It's not a cheap lens (about $500) but if you are in a situation where you have no choice but to use a GoPro, the image improvement is substantial.

      @@flyinghigh370 Wow. Thank you so much for explaining and sharing your experience. I have been to Dos Ojos before and loved the experience. Since I live in Florida I am feeling tempted to get a full Cave cert but at the same time I am feeling a bit nervous as cave diving can be dangerous and it is not for everyone. I will be in Cozumel in June but I am not sure if I will have time to go to Tulum but if I do, I will reach out to Luis. Thanks!

    It was interesting seeing the man made brick clusters at the opening of that cave. I assume they were remnants of an old cabin's foundation or chimney that existed long before the pond was dug. Those settlers could never have imagined that someday someone would be SCUBA diving into a cave where their home once sat.

    • @BlueWorldTV
      @BlueWorldTV  2 года назад +2

      Yes, we wondered how those got in there. You will often see a cinder block in the cavern zone. (They are a good way to create an easy place to tie your reel.) But those bricks looked like some old pieces of a house or something.

      have things that bite, poison,
      instantly kill, or prevent escape.
      Example, I've swam.past sunk
      depth charges on a ship with
      mechanism safeguards being
      degraded by seawater. Never
      fed moray eels, did experience
      fire coral infections, etc.. Used
      a cord laid by my belted reel

    keeping muddy particulates from being a pain is fun.
    More so if face-up, toe pushing off slick walls, not
    lifting your head for emergence until a rough ceiling
    stopped scrapping the nose. I prefer a farmer-john

    Mind sharing pics and specs for how you configured your single light GoPro rig?

    • @BlueWorldTV
      @BlueWorldTV  2 года назад

      It's just a bigblue video light on one end of a piece of loc-line and the goPro on the other. It was what I had to work with on the boat. Probably not ideal though! If I went back, I would come up with something a little more sophisticated.

    Great Video Blue World/Jonathan/Todd!!! Would you guys say this is a lot tighter then Jug hole?

    • @toddtkelly
      @toddtkelly 2 года назад +2

      Yes, It is tighter than Jug Hole. But it also a silt floor, which makes some of the squeeze easier, but the vis gets ruined quickly.

      @@toddtkelly Thanks for the reply, It being tight like that makes for great video, and I would imagine easier to light up.

    Great video! I noticed you didn't have the bolt snaps at the top of your cylinders attached when you were moving through the restriction. Did you unclip them for ease of movement?

    • @BlueWorldTV
      @BlueWorldTV  2 года назад +4

      I don't use bolt snaps at the top of the cylinders underwater. They are held in place by bungees which is more comfortable and allows them to move a little.

    • @visualven
      @visualven 2 года назад

      Bolt snaps at the top of the cylinder are a great redundant connection for a giant stride off a boat. I do that and then unsnap them once I'm in the water and rely on my bungee.

    I dislike/hate tight squeezes for cave diving in any cave like this or anything else that requires having to make tight squeeze.

      Your opinion is not shared by
      cave diving accident records
      of the National Speleological
      Society since 1967. Shows a
      growing number of rescues
      and body recovery. I've swam

    I cant believe the video got cut out from the first time watching...im glad the videos are ordered as a exposed investement. Glad i found it on the page or i was thinking bad about tier 3. Someone was attacking our experience. Just a heads up.

      I guess hackers found a way to completely "blip out" the video.
      Basically while watching...the video disappears. I had to go back to the main page to hopefully have in order of new videos.
      I hope it doesn't get worst.
      I just want to simple services.
      Thank you for caring.

    I think that the transmitters on the first stages could/should be put on a different high pressure port (if the first stage design allows) that allows them to be better protected. All I could think about the entire time was impact that could have led to them breaking off, which is not uncommon. Great video per usual!
