good luck man..haha
This has got to be the best and most basic (yet complete) video explaining ANY type of gearbox. Thanks for posting, you've cleared up so much for me!
This is brilliant. Just stumbled on it to explain how it works to a buddy. Thanks for taking the time.
It hurts to think about the moments when i misused those gears in traffic. Great video. This video link should be in books.
This is one of the coolest (and most detailed) the i have seen in awhile. It helps because I am rebuilding my YZ125 and I need to know EXACTLY how it works!
Thanks for the most amazingly calm, clear and precise description and demonstration of a motorcycle selector mechanism and gear train. After occasionally wondering for over 40yrs about the selector mech in particular, it all makes total sense now. Thanks again. Regards Mark in the UK

This is the most comprehensive and easy to understand video on the topic. Thank you so much!
Your videos are great. There is great detail and you explain the topic in an understandable and logical manner. Please continue to make more videos. I would love to see a carb video, a fuel injector video, a front forks video, a front steering assembly video and so on. You are well appreciated.
Has to be one of the best explanations/demos on youtube... Thanks man
Thanks, it helps a lot to understand when you see actuals parts in action.

thank you for taking the time to show it in such a detail.
This has to be the best explanation of the bikes transmission, so happy I found it
This really helped me appreciate the brilliance of this design. Thank you!
Outstanding video, thank you for posting it. I didn't understand how the gears worked until now.
Thank you very much for making this video!
A legend Vikas himself, the question is does he still liking comments?
This is Insanely Educative about how Gears work.. Thanks myte!..
thank you for having the time to share and explain...people like you make of the world a better place to live
I always used to wonder how the gears work in my motorbike. This video explains it completely. Awesome.
This is the most informative video on motorcycle gearbox that I've watched! Thank you
This demo is so perfect. I had no idea how my trans worked, and was having a problem with it's down shifting from third to second and to first. This was due to my running low on oil and some metal particles started circulating around and causing the problem. It is now shifting fine since I did two oil and filter changes. This took about 600 miles of driving, and so far it's working fine. I would still like some input regarding how the metal pasrticles effected the shifting. Thanks for the excerllent demo. Ron
Thank you very much for making this video! Being able to see the real thing is much easier for me to understand than watching animations.
Just excellent, being working on bikes for years just doing my first bottom end rebuild, this is a priceless video to me , brilliant work Als garage
Excellent explanation! Thanks for taking the time and effort for explaining it from different points of view.
What a great video! You couldn't have explained this more clearly. Was kinda hoping you might touch on what happens when you preload the shifter, but this was a fab explanation of the mechanism.
This video gave me a pretty good perspective of the transmissions in motorcycles. Thanks for the wonderful video!
GREAT video man. . .
I say, this video is far more better than the old one...
Thanks for the knowledge!!!
Nice video, informative. For me it's not so important to understand the different gear ratios and how they figure that but the concept of how it works is explained very well in this presentation. Nice job!
The best explanation I've seen so far!
Thank you so much. Great video. great point of view with camera and explaining everything.
VERY GOOD video! Thank you. You made it easy to understand what I thought was the hardest part of the engine to figure out!
amazing video and very clear easy to follow explanation on how this works!!! keep up the great work
Very informative vid...l now have a better understanding of how the gears work, which before was no understanding at all. Thank you.
That was a great video and really helped me understand my bikes transmission! Thanks
Thank you man this is illuminating (love motorcycles and disassembling engine parts, it's kind of a strange way of meditating)

That was a great demo. I liked being able to see all the parts. My mind still doesn’t quite comprehend how the parts work together to change gears but that is no fault of yours. 🤪
Thanks for showing it! Now I know what happens there in every detail :)
Very well done video. I appreciate the detailed explanation. Good job, sir!
This is the best demonstration of this that I have seen.
awesome video, I learned a lot from watching. Very easy to follow too.

Very nicely done. I learned something new today. Thanks!
is it true that 2nd gear and the 1st gear is the most likely to break first than any other gears?
Nice explanation with good detail. Thanks for posting

Very well made video. Thank you.
I was very intrigued about how a motorcycle goes from first to neutral. now it seem very simple :)
When you're at rest and going from neutral to first, and both shafts are stationary, if the dogs are not aligned with the slots, how do you shift?
thnks bro do making this vedio , it is useful to us why because i am mechanical engineer
Bro, you’re incredible. Thanks for explaining this!
Wow - I am so enlightened.

What do you think would be the cost of replacing the main axle that connects to the front sprocet?
My motorcycle has the main axles teeth used half way trought.
Bike that i own is a 2010 Yamaha WR125X
Fantastic video!
Thanks for the effort.
These vids are excellent! Could you please post more of these?
I just added a comment. Maybe if more of us comment on my comment and like each other's it will encourage him to make more videos.
Hello , I had prob with My Kawasaki KR-1 ... when i shift Neutral to 1st gear it rough and while ride the bike 1st gear to 2nd gear cannot engage (it jump to Neutral) ???
I can't say that I totally understand what is going on still, but it this a great video that explains alot.
great video. It explained something I never understood.
Superb, clear explanation. Thank you
love these vids hope tho see more
i have a 99 kx250 will shift from 1st to 2nd 3rd 4th n 5th wont engage neither will neutral.. bad drum? shift forks? i just ordered a drum and forks hope it fixes my bike.. i took clutch basket off everything looks nornal but the drum wont go above 2nd or in nuetral
Hi i have engine ducar dj 154fmi it has 1up 3 down gear pattern. I need to convert it to all 4 up how do I do that? Does it requires entries transmission to be replaced or just the gear shift drum?
Since this video is so old. That I even get a response but it's worth a shot. I have a 1996 KTM 400 EXC and it will ship through every gear just fine when the bike is off. I can downshift into first gear just fine but when I go for second gear it just makes a grinding noise and goes into neutral or stays in first gear. If I start my bike and second gear it will allow me to shift through every year and then back down all the way until I need to go back into 2nd gear and my issue pops back up. Any ideas? It's not slipping out of gear and my clutch isn't slipping either
I have a 110cc full automatic but when I give it gas to go the sprocket jumps around and grinds ... I'm looking to fix it but I need a opinion about what I'll be looking for
I have a Crf 450 2014 and the gear n4 stop work!! I mean all is perfect but when in change to 4 is like neutral,,, can you tell me a probably problem?
Thanks, for sharing such a informative video.
Does somebody know - is it possible swap first gear and neutral? It needs for change switching order from 1-0-2- to 0-1-2- ?
thanks this give me an idea why my bike is stock in first and not going into the upper gear
Hi Al, I'm having a trouble with my motorcycle. When it is on second gear it "jumps" to neutral or first gear. I didn't open the gear box yet but, what do you think the problem could be?
Excellent demonstration
pretty darn cool - thanks for the demo
Good Demonstration !! Though it takes time to understand the mechanics completely.
Nice video thx!!
I have a question though,
how come that the teeth on the sides of the shifting sprockets exactly engage with the recesses of the free wheelling gears when shifting while they spin rapidly with different speeds? How come you dont need something like a synchronizer ring as in a manual car transmission to match their speeds to connect them?
