- I've been waiting for a much needed update for the Xbox MSFS configuration for the Thrustmaster Hotas One Flight Stick and Throttle. Still nothing, so I have decided to produce this interim video to help out those that are struggling to reconfigure this Flight Stick. The controls Options configuration for this controller in Microsoft Flight Simulator is a complete mess.

Yes, same here….download the driver again from Thrustmaster again and install…it solves the problem. 👍
How do i download drivers for my hotas one on my cbox one as i also cant get it to work? Any help would be so appreciated
@@TheRam61071 on Xbox it is hard coded into MSFS. Make sure it is switched to Xbox mode.
I think it doesnt work on xcloud. I was thinking bout buying it as well but you need a game to be installed. And I don’t have series x/s If I am mistaken please correct me

Thank you! My dad is a private pilot and has played flight sim for years. We got him the Xbox x and flight sim and the T.Flight Hotas one for his birthday earlier this month and he has been a bit frustrated with the controls, as you can imagine. He’s not at all tech savvy so I get called in to help and your video was very informative. One thing I am wondering about is the fact that there doesn’t seem to be a way to change the hat to pan instead of snap to the quick-views. Also, it’s pretty much impossible to navigate the menus fully using the hotas, which is extra infuriating, because it’s already a pain without a mouse.

@@jimm2100 regarding any possible update for the thrustmaster one on an xbox x - how would this update happen? is the update issued by adobo/microsoft from the marketplace or will thrustmaster offer it on their site as a usb stick based update? Will it be offered as a marketplace hot fix and updates any thrustmaster that is attached to a xbox regardless of if you want it or not? The process would be good to know.
This is like the configuration with Elite Dangerous.
I want to see when Honeycomb comes with the Xbox line up.

Came here after playing with those same menus, thinking that either the Xbox wasn’t supporting all of the axes, or that maybe I had to do some settings somewhere in the Xbox settings to enable the joystick to be recognized or something. This confusion was entirely because of the Search By Input box showing the wrong values, just as you showed. It was SO GOOD seeing someone else had the same issue, so I knew I wasn’t alone. Keep up the good work!
This is great. I’m new on Xbox which I got just for FS. But the lack of any collateral from Asobo/Microsoft is very frustrating. You have made my day!

Brilliant. I am so utterly disappointed in the poor implementation of the configuration for the HOTAS in MFS xbox. I've been duplicating and testing for days to make a workable config. Because of the terrible config we're stuck with, the ability to pass the Activities is also hampered as the system does not acknowledge the default mappings. Trainer tells you to turn on Smart Camera mode and does not recognize the pilot input. Trainer asks you to perform a pitch down, and does not understand the input. My investment so far has been a new xbox, the FS software and the HOTAS one. I'm miserable. $800 invested and cannot even play the game as delivered. It works for free flight, but you get my point. Thank you for the video, I guess I'll wait for an update. Subscribed and followed, notifications on. Hoping to hear something soon.

I'm on the same boat (or in this case.. plane) as you guys.. I bought the Series S, the flight simulator and the HOTAS controller.. I got so frustrated that I just started playing with the regular controller.. I hope this video helps

Thank you SO much! I actually thought my Hotas was broken, it's quite old and I used to use it in Elite, but haven't played that for a while. So when I went to set it up for MSFS on Xbox series X, and found the anomalies you showed, I presumed the Hotas was useless and went back to controller. I'll spend some time tomorrow setting it up as I like, using your guide as a help. can't thank you enough.
Yeah I thought mine was broken because f2 for landing gear doesnt work and I just picked mine up today. Hopefully I can get it fixed.
THANK YOU, now I'll finally be able to get the most out of this! In flight school at the moments (for helicopters) and now that helicopters officially are here on MSFS2020 I was so thrilled until the controls made so little sense... I'll spend a good amount of time making some configuration that feels as natural as flying the real thing (although we fly R44's but still)!

Thank you; excellent video .. Out of the box it helped me figure everything out instantly. I come from FSX since 2006, to Xplane 9, 10, and 11 ... have been flying for years... Just made the switch FS2020..... This is a great video because one thing I don't want to do is waste time.. I hate having to learn everything again.

Brilliant thanks Mark. My one on Xbox X has an intermittent fault on the rocker switch, following this I remapped it but the fault remained. The Hotas works ok on my PC. 😊

Great video! Thanx! As for the lack of an axis setting for reverse thrust.. strange it can’t be setup- especially since the throttle hardware has a built in deten, you would suppose is there for just that purpose.. anyway; ‘decrease thrust’ is the way the bravo throttle deals with reverse thrust and since my x-box is my traveling rig, I’m happy with that functionality..
..also very much appreciate the rebinding of the trigger.. a much more intuitive application for the service brakes.. and I never use the ‘smart camera’ anyway..

I can't figure out how to make the curser show up so you can move the camera that way and click things, like you would on the controller
For anyone passing by.. If you get creative with your hotas button bindings in addition to using your controller on the side, that helps.. And for the loose throttle, get some duct tape (I used Gorilla Tape).
- I use two little strips of tape on both sides to where at the base of the throttle stick the tape forms something like a T, with the longer strip being on top. So that it glides in a ramp-like fashion towards each extreme of the throttle range; increasing in resistance the closer I get to minimum or maximum.
- Just make sure in your controller screen that you can still go from 0-100 with your throttle range and that the tape isn't cushioning it, preventing the last one or two percent.
Then it's actually pretty good. 👍

For what it’s worth, I run flight sim on Series X, with my HOTAS one using a developer preview console build. Can’t replicate the issues you have with my HOTAS one, so hopefully a fix is on the way for everybody.

Hello. Can you please do a video of how to reset the controlls for both the Hotas and Controller for the Xbox series X. I am having trouble with operating the Spoilers on the Airbus during the takeoff training. All the adjustments i have made have now multiple uses and have saved 4 or 5 profiles. Confused! Thanks. To me, the regular controls seem fine for me on Xbox. I just need to know them since I’m new to the Xbox and flight sim controls.
Hi Mark, thanks, not on the Xbox myself, but that must be disappointing. You would think they test before releasing.
On PC I noticed that after update 5 the profiles load very slowly and when you select a button you have to also un-select it before the interface will let you continue saving, navigating etc.

Problems I found in the Configurator for my Joysticks on PC:
Pressing the assigned buttons no longer highlights/shows the displayed button being pressed
Also, for the Assigned buttons/axis: if you expand/collapse, when expanded after a few expand/collapse, in expanded, it shows non assigned commands as well.
If you collapse then expand, only Title categories are expanded, not their children!
It worked PERFECTLY before Sim Update 5 ... This is a mess indeed.

The throttle tension is equally horrendous. I heard the throttle can be taken apart and replace the spring to have better tension. I am looking for suggestion/link to a better replacement spring.

I have a Thrustmaster Hotas X joystick,
On the FBW A320, I can't get into Idle,
I put the throttle towards me but the plane's throttle is between Idle and Climb.
How to make them synchronized please ?

So instead of this T.flight HOTAS I am trying to use T.16000M with rudder on Xbox series X. Anyone experience with PC mapping software and perhaps a mapping to share? So basically with Xbox app on Windows 10 one can stream locally from Xbox to PC vice versa so to run FS2020 on Xbox series X while using a 'mapped' HOTAS controller through the PC app.
I noticed you can’t even select the training mode activities with the HOTAS alone and would need either Xbox controllers or mouse.
Do you recommend using a Mouse on XBox for MSFS?
Yes I use a wireless mouse and keyboard. (cheap Logitech combo).

Just getting started with Elite Dangerous and Microsoft Flight Simulator. I was planning on using the T.Flight HOTAS for both games. Is that reasonable? Or does the setup of the HOTAS for one game mess everything up for the other game?

Fantastic video, but my issue is that my HotasOne (same as my VelocityOne) are not coming up in the peripherals list in the Control Options (8:30).. What am I missing?

Hi, yes they have now fixed this. I use B1 as part of my camera settings. You can change the axis (left/right) on your rudders in the control options menu. In real world push the left rudder forwards and the aircraft turns left.
Really thought these issues would have been updated today with latest update. Nope. I've had no luck with contacting Thrustmaster support for weeks now.
This video is now 2 years old. Are the configuration problems mentioned herein fixed on the latest release of MS Flight Sim? I just ordered this controller and am waiting for delivery.

Hi mark , all was fine until suddenly the axis on back of throttle now is the same as the axis on my twist joystick... I used to have trim back of throttle, and rudder on twist joystick.. now they're both the same axis so if one does something, they both do.. any idea how to fix? All was fine until I landed at an airport, suddenly atc weren't making any noise (still talking on text but couldn't hear them anymore) and my hotas went all messed up...
I’m not sure, but sounds like your hardware is faulty. Uninstall your TM drivers completely and reinstall. Worth a try.

Just purchased this for my birthday and I can’t seem to get afterburners in the F-18 at full throttle. Do I need to change the throttle axis at all?
Setting afterburners is a separate button config. Watch my darkstar video to see how to find it.
Hi Mark. I know this video is for Xbox set up with the thrustmaster T flight Hotas one, but I am hoping you might be able to help me. I have msfs2020 for PC and are using the hotas one Joy stick. I am having an issue with elevator trim. In the configuration window the default setting for elevator trim is Joystick slider X- and X+ on the throttle quadrant. The sim recognizes this input , but when I play the sim this input is not recognized. I can only move the trim with the use of the mouse for some aircraft (Some I cant move at all, or it moves back to its original setting) I have all AI help settings turned off for the pilot. I am hoping that you may have heard of this issue and know a fix. Thanks in advance.
In PC mode the TQ has two modes….(Xbox button light on and light off). Check your documentation and online. Suggest reconfigure to simple mode - light off. Hope this makes sense.
@@SimHangerFS thanks for your reply. it does make sense, but that was not the issue. Issue is fixed now. I had set an input on the keyboard which must have interfered with it as I reset keyboard to default and it works great. thanks again
I've got a top gun afterburner 2... recognised {on pc) but no default assignation......... can you help?
You assign a button to that function directly if no default.
I have one question, using the f18 I cannot activate the afterburner with the hotas but I have to push A on my controller every time. Is there a way to have the afterburner working from the hotas?
Afterburner can be configured to a button, but unfortunately not an axis in your control options menu.

@@SimHangerFS At least, if you leave the game in Quick Resume mode, it will keep track of your sensitivity settings. For now, this is a nice workaround.

How do I select the flight stick
I am new flight sims. Just started yesterday! I think I fixed all of these problems by changing 1 setting in windows. By reading the Thustmaster manual. I figured how to add trim to the rocker arm on a windows PC without changing bindings in MSFS2020. If you go to all apps or Programs depending on your OS. /Thrustmaster/Control panel/Properties and change the axis from 4/6 to 5/8 the throttle’s rocking button and the rudder axis on the TFRP
rudder pedals system (sold separately) become independent of the handle’s rotation. So after doing this. Toggle smart camera is fixed. now it is F1 button. Not sure if this is a problem on xboxes. but if it is? see if there is a option to change the axis to 5/8 in settings

So I’m on x box one, and I’m using the T flight Hotas 1. My problem is that it won’t connect, when I go to controls options nothing shows up to connect to. But my controller works just fine. Any idea why?

How to enable autopilot kn the joystick
Hey so I’m on Xbox Series X and haven’t even booted up MSFS yet and haven’t plugged my hotas in ever since I’ve installed MSFS (I’ve only used the hotas for Elite Dangerous), and I’m wondering how I would even go about installing drivers or magazine files since I’m on Xbox (and don’t have a PC at all). Because I keep seeing people mentioning downloading and managing software for this game and controller on the Xbox, but as far as I’m aware you cannot directly manipulate or manage those things on Xbox. Apologies if this question is too wordy and/or unorganized :)
Thrustmaster Hotas one is supported with a default config directly in MSFS. You can download add ons in the sim from the inbuilt marketplace tab

Yes you can.

@@bowz_32 yes you can use a mouse with the series s whilst having a peripheral attached. I’m doing it currently on my series x
I’m having a problem where if I try to use afterburners on the f-18 the throttle will only go to 80 percent and I have to use my controller for afterburners, any ideas on how to fix this?
I’m not sure, I use a button on my joystick to toggle afterburners. Doesn’t impact my throttle axis.
Assign a button to toggle afterburner on and off
Mine has stopped working on the beta 10 update on the Xbox.
It don’t control my plane at all or the pedals.
I went back to the standard version and it worked again.

I’m not on the beta…I tend to stay away until closer to release date.
@@SimHangerFS I had to go on it as my game was lagging and unplayable. It has been great until the Wednesday update. It even added the Dreamliner jet for me :)
I am really hoping to get help here... I am using XBOX Series X, Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas One + Thrustmaster T.Flight Rudders (plus pad & keyboard & mouse, but these are neglectible). thrustmaster devices connected by RJ12 together, and one USB to console.
I have noticed a problem with Rudders - in steering options, in menu, it is showing just axis 2 for control, but it is controlled by both joystick yaw and Rudders (pedals) move. (duplication of signals?)
This was causing the issue that, when put the pedals to maximum for e.g. turning during the taxi, it came to maximum and immediately came back to zero.
It looks like it gets the signal to move from pedals, but at the same time it gets "zero" signal from yaw on joystick.
Do you know if there is any solution for that? MSFS config options are not enough, and I cannot see the joystick with rudders directly in xbox config menu...
Sounds like the config is corrupted. Check for duplicate inputs. Suggest make new config from scratch to resolve issue. 👍
@@SimHangerFS It was not an issue... It turned out that assistant in options have to be switched off to stop "helping" during taxi. regards
Hi. I have just added the rudder pedals to Tflight One but I don’t seem to have brake function when top of pedals pressed (XBox Seties X). Don’t see this on the sensitivity settings or elsewhere. Do yours work?!
@@weircottage hi Shane, check calibration in windows that the function is registering. Should be available in sim config.

Hi Mark, i’ve been flying with my HOTAS One on Xbox for a year now without issues. However now, in control options it does display the hotas one controller but the default assigned keys are just blank. i can’t fly. please help
Likely to be a sim bug. Try uninstall Hotas …restart…and reinstall (latest driver) ….restart, and check if default is back. Other alternative is to configure manually.

This is a Huge bug in MSFS that they have to fix. Its a rudder issue. Not your fault.

You should be able to restart the sim…then plug in the Hotas and default should be restored?
