Great video! It does take away your ability to zoom up and down from over your dash and instruments, BUT those can be mapped out separately and more efficiently using F2 + the joystick pov direction, which solves that issue. This was a great tutorial! Thanks!! Excellent work dude
Even better, dedicate your F1 (trigger) button as a "shift button" and you can use the hat switch for looking over the dash and quick views, as well as reassigning all your other buttons to bring up your maps, switch to IFR or other primary instrumentation views, etc

After day 1 and looking at the button mapping for the hotas one and finding out on the controls settings that some of the buttons come up the same as F2. After spending most of day 1 trying to figure it out i just went and fly and all the controls are the same as my Hotas T Flight X for ps3/pc what i used for MSFS2020 on PC so all was fine and i did not have to change any button mapping. One problem we have though is that Sensitivity settings on the Hotas One do not save once you quit and reopen the game again as they reset back to default. The other thing i'm a bit annoyed at is when using a mouse, you cannot interact with the instrument panel when in cockpit, have to use the xbox controller mouse which when moving the cursor with the left stick on the controller also moves your airelons on your plane, so i have had to delete the xbox steering with controller button mapping as i use the Hotas for flight, and now the mouse move with controller does not effect your planes movement. Great video, keep up the good work.
Thanks for those fantastic comments and your own research. It's a shame that the sensitivity settings don't save for the Hotas One currently; it kind of makes my upcoming settings video slightly redundant, but I'll go ahead and keep to a promise and post it at the weekend.
Fantastic video! I was hoping someone would cover button mapping for the Hotas One. Any chance you will be doing a Keyboard key shortcut video. Or at least the most popular key bindings? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Keep up the great content!!

After setting up external views as described, I don't get complete travel around the entire aircraft in any direction. As an example, when I enter external view, I am positioned directly behind the aircraft. When I use the left hat switch, the view travels around the left side to directly in front of the aircraft and then stops. When I release the hat switch, the view returns to behind the aircraft where it started after entering external view. I don't get the complete 360 degree rotation in any direction. Any advice on correcting this? Thank you.
Good afternoon. Thank you for your very well structured and detailed video. I made the setups for the views as you said, but there is one issue: After i look at the different directions, both in cockpit & external, when i stop pressing the POV key on my joystick, the view comes again in the start position. I would like to stop in the position -view- i want. thank you in advance!
Not sure how to toggle between cockpit/external view. On the controls option it keys to hit the "B" key on my keyboard. Funny thing is, I don't have a keyboard plugged into my xbox, only an elite controller and the Hotas 1.
Great Video! As I am pretty new to Flight Simulator 2020 on Xbox Series S and the Hoyas One I watched already several videos you made. I discovered myself the mess with the setup of the Hotas One and beside the settings described here I decided to stay on the default for now. Unfortunately I did not get done like in the video and have now explanation for it. Here is what I did: Deleted everything from the camera settings beside the reset to default view and the F1 smart camera. Then I added the POV axis to let, right, up, down, down-right and so on external and internal. This work as expected but even if I haven't touched anything with the A-Key when I release my parking break the pilot start viewing up-right. When I delete the profile everything is OK. But creating again the profile result in the same behaviour (even if I choose default profile again). So I am on default again waiting for a fix. Where would I see such a fix is available?
The behaviours of the Hotas One is very erratic on the Xbox consoles currently; the next patch is looking like it will sort this mess out - coming this week I believe.
I bought this because the normal controller was confusing to use. I guess it was a waste of money since this seems more confusing than just learning the normal controller. I do not want to do all this if it won’t even save when I am done. You say “hat switch” but I am not sure what button that is and how you can have so many things on one button. Please understand I do not think this is your problem. This is my first joystick and I am new to flight sim and Xbox so I am just way behind! I subbed so maybe when they fix the issues and you redo the video it will make more sense and not be so frustrating. Looking for a relaxing hobby not something frustrating and more work! Lol
Just bought the T.Flight HOTAS one and I'm watching your videos to get it programed with MSFS. When I to the cockpit view and select input I have all the "joystick POV" settings but also have "POV" with just an arrow up-right-left-and down. Does it make a difference which one I use. Thanks. Great videos.
Another very helpful video. I'm stumped on one issue. I was able to map "toggle drone camera" and that works; however, I find myself stuck in drone mode. It doesn't seem to toggle drone mode off. When I toggle to get back into the cockpit, it defaults me to a camera on the tail looking down on the front of the aircraft. Any ideas how to solve this? I had the same issue with my controller but for some reason I was able to solve that one. Thanks in advance if you have any suggestions. Cheers, John
Wondering if it's possible to select things in the cocking eg autopilot controls with the joystick alone? I'm coming from the controller so I'll probably buy a second mouse for this function but just wondering if you can do it at all with the stick
@@Huddison I've used your sens settings more or less just added a tiny little bit more sensitive for my liking but they're very good, no where near as twitcy, easier to make small adjustments. (as counter intuitive as it sounds)
Okay, you had me all the way until switching from inside the cockpit to outside the cockpit to pan around the plane. Can you explain that again? I am 73 years old and not too hip to these XBox movements. That is what I have my flight simulator on. Thanks! I have to write down what you did to assign the buttons.
Hi there, my external view work fine with all the EXTERNAL VIEW LOOK bindings to my JOYSTICK POV2 (Velocity One), but when I release, it keeps returning to the rear view! How do I make the view stay where it is, when releasing the POV? Thnx!
I just set this up. Thanks! But now my F2 button does reset the camera fully. It resets it forward but so far forward I can't see the dials...muck like when I get in my car after my wife drives it. Is there a way to 'move the seat back's?
Ensure F2 is not also bound to 'Next Pilot position' which it sounds like it may be. You can go into options and change the default pilot position; I'm meaning to do a video on this soon.

I feel like I'm being an idiot & there's an easier way ? Or it is what it is bc I'm on Xbox ?I appreciate all of your videos especially this one again, thank you Sir..
Clear, concise and effective as usual, thank you for that .... Can Hat Switch also be suitable for activating the buttons and potentiometers of the cockpit ? (without having to use the stick of the Xbox controller)
Thank you, got it working. But personally I've reversed the horizontal on Exterior view so the is the same motion to look left inside & out. Might reverse the vertical axis too, I'll see how i get along
Thanks for the video. I hope MSF and Thrustmaster sort out the hotas it's been a bit of a headache. I was wondering how do you do the first VFR navigation tutorial? It tells me to take off, and as soon as I do, it restarts. What I'm I doing wrong? Thanks

Thank you...the quick look was really bugging me and I was trying to use the 'Input' feature to remap....it's perfect now.
Great to hear.
That is so much better than the default setting. Thank you
You're most welcome
Newbie to flight sims checking in. Very helpful video. Subscribed and thanks.
Welcome aboard and thanks :)
Thanks again for a most helpful and informative video. Works like a dream!
Great to hear, thanks.
You sir deserve a medal, thank you
🥇😉
This is everything RIGHT NOW! Thank you very much. Subbed
Awesome, thank you!
Thank you , I’ve just got my t hotas and followed your video .
You should be a teacher.

Hello from France. Thanks for this very useful video!
Hello & most welcome!
Great tutorial, thank you. Really enjoying all your instructional videos. Great content and easy to follow. You helped me very much. Again, thank you!
Glad to be of help & thanks for the kind comment.
Thank you, great clarity of explanation etc.
You are most welcome.
Thank you!!!! Cant wait for the button video.......
Quick tip, you can plug a mouse to your xbox, makes it way more smoother to navigate the menus.
Fantastic video! I was hoping someone would cover button mapping for the Hotas One. Any chance you will be doing a Keyboard key shortcut video. Or at least the most popular key bindings? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Keep up the great content!!
Thanks. I have a video out tomorrow with tips and tricks and some bindings in there.
I'm also planning a couple of videos on full flights for the Xbox; one will be with keyboard and perhaps a mouse.
Thank you so much you've been extremely helpful awesome brother it's helped me out in a simulator to it's been a while since it took in the sky but thank you so much with these tutorials awesome
So very much appreciated - thank you brother ;)
After setting up external views as described, I don't get complete travel around the entire aircraft in any direction. As an example, when I enter external view, I am positioned directly behind the aircraft. When I use the left hat switch, the view travels around the left side to directly in front of the aircraft and then stops. When I release the hat switch, the view returns to behind the aircraft where it started after entering external view. I don't get the complete 360 degree rotation in any direction. Any advice on correcting this? Thank you.
Sounds like you have 'Hold' selected under General options\Camera; under 'Free look mode' in that menu, change it to 'Toggle'.
@@Huddison Fixed it. Thank you.
Thank you that was easy, it was driving me mad.
You're welcome ;)
Good afternoon. Thank you for your very well structured and detailed video. I made the setups for the views as you said, but there is one issue: After i look at the different directions, both in cockpit & external, when i stop pressing the POV key on my joystick, the view comes again in the start position. I would like to stop in the position -view- i want.
thank you in advance!
In General options/Camera select 'Toggle' instead of 'Hold', for your respective views.
Thank you so much for making this vid, big help.
My pleasure.
Not sure how to toggle between cockpit/external view. On the controls option it keys to hit the "B" key on my keyboard. Funny thing is, I don't have a keyboard plugged into my xbox, only an elite controller and the Hotas 1.
Map/scan for Toggle external view - I have my 'Next' button set for it.
As always, your videos are very helpful, thank you. :-)
Appreciated thanks :)
Sir...on my pc mfs2020, I can pan externally but it flips back to chase view....what have I not done? Logitech 3d pro stick
It sounds like you have one of your button mappings you use when panning around, still mapped to a quick view.
Perfect. How can i map the F1-Button? I cant find it in the drop down menu.
F1 is your Trigger button - you can Scan via Input for that one, as it seems to pick up just fine using that method.
excellent vid, thanks for your time much appreciated MMDogs
Most welcome Micky.
This is great. Now I just need to figure out why I cannot trim and my aircraft keeps nosing down !
Lol
Wait out for the inevitable patch. The Hat Switch is the prominent, pyramid type knob on the top of the joystick ;)
It should work fine either way.
This is a little offtopic, but is there a way to have a default airport when launching Xbox msfs? Regards from Spain.
That's a great question & one I'll be looking into ;)
Another very helpful video.
You'll need to bind another button to return to cockpit view - see this video: ruclips.net/video/0Nny5lOUJSY/видео.html
Wondering if it's possible to select things in the cocking eg autopilot controls with the joystick alone?
I'm coming from the controller so I'll probably buy a second mouse for this function but just wondering if you can do it at all with the stick
You can set it up for a lot of AP functions: this video might give you a few tips: ruclips.net/video/_CC2Zm6jtSc/видео.html
To aid: take things one step at a time; follow this video first: ruclips.net/video/jToegWQthBc/видео.html
Hi there, my external view work fine with all the EXTERNAL VIEW LOOK bindings to my JOYSTICK POV2 (Velocity One), but when I release, it keeps returning to the rear view! How do I make the view stay where it is, when releasing the POV? Thnx!
In camera settings (General Options IIRC), change your external views bindings from 'Hold' to 'Toggle'.
@@Huddison thnx!!!
@@Huddison I'll try this as soon as I get home! Thank you from Kentucky, USA. Nearest airport is CVG - Cincinnati.
That wasn't the issue but somehow the issue resolved itself with a restart of the Xbox. Go figure.
@@howardmcewen Oh wall, at least it's now sorted ;)
Scanning works. It shows the wrong input. You can just ignore the one that comes up. It's on the flight sim website under known issues.
Ok, thanks for the heads up.

Very nice instructions. Thanks!
You are welcome!
When you change camera settings and rename Hotas One to “new” are the rest of the setting remain the same? Just the cameras has changed. Correct?
Yes correct, the rest of the default settings are carried over.
Thank you for this amazing video, from Spain!! There's someway to use the panel control (every button and handle) with the Hotas one?? I didn't find how to do it with the Xbox!!
Thanks. You'll either need the gamepad or mouse to access every control.
Should be getting mine Sunday.
If possible, I'll change the hat switch to trim and rudder.
Yes that should be possible, let me know how you get along with those settings.
@@Huddison Will do!
Great video, really helpful, thanks!!
Glad it was helpful! ;)
Thank you for that much needed... I have anotherquestion for you & my biggest issue. I'm on Xbox, obviously using the flight stick but having an issue interacting with instruments in my cockpit especially on flights I need to navigate using my menu.. my question/ problem (for example) interacting with with my flight timer & menu forces me to switch to my controller just to move my curser around in rhe cockpit.. while im doung all this i have no control of rhe aircraft.. I feel like I'm being an idiot & there's an easier way ? Or it is what it is bc I'm on Xbox ?I appreciate all of your videos especially this one again, thank you Sir..
You'd be best plugging in a USB mouse to interact with menus and AP functions etc on Xbox (& PC ofc)
Clear, concise and effective as usual, thank you for that .... Can Hat Switch also be suitable for activating the buttons and potentiometers of the cockpit ? (without having to use the stick of the Xbox controller)
I believe that's possible; although we're best waiting for the mapping issues to be sorted.
Is there a way to set it up where you can zoom in and out in the cockpit with the HOTAS?
Yes you could set buttons for that.
I've got a hat switch set for freelook like this, but I have a roller ball mouse I'd rather be using, but I can't figure that out. 🙁
Interesting idea, shame I Don't own a Roller Ball Mouse to experiment with.
Our Discord might have a few ideas.
Thank you ever so much.
Most welcome.
Thanks for the explanatory video...
My pleasure
Thank you, got it working.
But personally I've reversed the horizontal on Exterior view so the is the same motion to look left inside & out.
Might reverse the vertical axis too, I'll see how i get along
Super tip - thanks.
I am using the HOTAS one and have just done this thanks. I do find my self always having to wrestle the aircraft why is that?
Video coming out on my settings soon.
Thanks for the video. I hope MSF and Thrustmaster sort out the hotas it's been a bit of a headache. I was wondering how do you do the first VFR navigation tutorial? It tells me to take off, and as soon as I do, it restarts. What I'm I doing wrong? Thanks
I'll have to take a look at that specific tutorial - I'll get back to you when I do.
@@Huddison Thanks, mate.
Don't know if it's means but seems like all the tutorials are messed up
Great video. I have a question: How can I manipulate the cockpit instruments using the T. Flight Hotas? Thank you very much and sorry for my English, I am Spanish
The Hotas One needs a major fix/patch before trying anything like that currently - I'll maybe cover this in the future.
I ended up buying a $20 mini keyboard w/touchpad to augment my Xbox setup. Especially after I heard about the issues with the stick
Absolutely brilliant thank you. Subscribed.
Many thanks.
@@Huddison Hi. Could you please explain how to steer on the ground while taxiing. I use the Hotas joystick by twisting it but I find it a little hit and miss sometimes. Many thanks in advance.
@@littlenemo14 This video explains how to tame the rudder a little ruclips.net/video/Lf4y_Ke_iKo/видео.html
First off thank you so much for the content, secondly both my views are same for cockpit and external view but when I hit my button to take me from cockpit to external view it doesn't work.Only when I click on external it pans around?
It is slightly bugged currently - I would advise setting one or the other view up, to look around freely: I personally like the quick view system in the cockpit and to pan in external view.
Soooo usefull! Thanks a lot dude!👍🏼
Most welcome!
Thankfully very good job 💪🏼✈️👍🧑✈️
Most welcome 😎👍
Very helpful, many thanks!
You're welcome!
Awesome! Thanks for this (again!) Did you have any issues with the thrustmaster one being mapped incorrectly on xbox?
Most of us do, unfortunately. My next video will cover this.
@@Huddison you're a diamond, videos are perfect for someone new to simmjng like myself
I really need help if you have time. All of a sudden my oldest one controller stopped controlling my up-and-down movement swap flying or controlling a plane. It works fine in the Xbox menu. It works fine endgame menu. And even under control her options. But it will not move the plane up and down in game. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game. Please help.
Is that the Hots One controller? Ensure you have the switch set to Xbox (just going over the obvious).
If that doesn't work, hop on to our Discord and we can better help you there: discord.gg/Ameu93sHfY
@@Huddison yes, the hotus one controller. I’m not sure what happened. But I had to create a whole new profile and remap all my buttons. Now the problem is fixed
Thanks for this! very helpful! :)
No worries :)
I’m having an issue with the external and Cockpit pov down . Whenever I flick down it switches me from cockpit to external. And whenever I try to map the switch button it doesn’t work. I find myself clicking the button on my xbox controller instead which is annoying. What button on the hotas do you have Camera Mode Switch to?
I have mine set to the 'Prev' button. The camera settings and views are all a bit buggy atm; hopefully a patch will be incoming soon.
thank you for this.... can I ask how to get it to pan around 360 in the cockpit thanks in advance 👍
Here you go: ruclips.net/video/zEZ1k-qCGLk/видео.html
thanks again... but can I ask how I'm not able to look to the back of the plane in cockpit it stops at window... id like to be able to view seat's etc...... is it in camera settings.. thanks again for replying ✌️
Did anyone also got the problem that the sensitivity needs to be calibrated every time again when you start the game? It will not safe at all. Anyone got a solution?
Just uploading a video, where I talk about that very issue (amongst other things).
@@Huddison nice . I will watch it
Huddison thank you so much for taking the time to help us. My Hotas is a million times better now.
Can I ask a huge favour please.
What button on the ‘select an input’ drop down list is the black no.6 button on the throttle control.
Im trying to assign something on there but it’s mapped wrong when I used the ‘start scanning’ option
Thanks in advance
I'll check this for you when I next get my Xbox Series S setup (i've Been rearranging my setups ;).
