My experience as well. I usually take transit to the airport or train station, which typically involves a significant amount of outdoor walking on sidewalks, so two wheelers make a lot more sense.
I have had the Travelpro Maxlite 5 20" 2 wheel for about 2 years. I agree that it is just perfect for those who want to travel without checking bags. I use this and a small backpack on flights and it has proven to be perfect for me. I travel a lot in Europe so the 2 wheels are durable and easy to maneuver. Thanks for always checking bag sizes at different airlines.

We have the TravelPro 4 spinner, international 19”. Purchased back in 2018 or 19, on sale at Macy’s, for international travel with the small bag requirements. Turns out it is a perfect bag for seniors with the smaller size and weight. I can get sandals in the front pocket with an umbrella. It is small but you can get a weeks worth of clothes in it. I use the top for rain jacket and pair of pants or nicer clothes. My packing cube is 2 sided for clean clothes on one side, dirty on other. It surface washes easily. I frequently check my bag at the gate with no cost, as a senior, never been denied. Lifting to the overhead bin is not possible. I have a small packing cube with 2 tops/underwear, in my personal bag just in case. The negative is limited space for shoes. I do love the bag, works great for seniors!
As a senior I was interested in your report now that I am not so able to deal with heavier luggage. However, some airlines in Europe do not allow a carry on plus an extra item, a handbag/purse, which is a problem.
Just got back from a 2 1/2 month trip through Europe and took the Travelpro. It was fantastic! Just took this and one other smaller carry on. I had no issues taking them onboard.
I recently replaced my old luggage with a set of Travel Pro. It is absolutely amazing luggage! From my carry on to my large regular suitcase, I love them all
I purchased TravelPro luggage for my trip to London last December in a beautiful dusty pink. I bought the medium checked size and the international size carry on. I love them both!!!
Excellent video! Aly you really researched and spent some time making this video. I appreciate how you compared most (if not all) the airlines and you gave metric and imperial measurements. Then you shared the interior of the bag. Best luggage video I have seen.
I bought the 4 wheeler 2 years ago and I'ts the best carry on bag I've ever had. My wife nagged me bacause she felt it didn't look cool enough. But of course now she asks for it every time she needs to travel. I really love it.
If you offered me a choice between, say a $1,000 plus Rimowa aluminum cabin bag constructed of premium materials, oozing luxury and weighing 4 kg or more and one of these TravelPro spinners, I’d take the TravelPro. Excellent review!
I used to work at a financial company that built their new offices in Boca Raton right next to the Travelpro factory. We'd walk over for their annual (literal) factory sale. Back in the day they were incredibly well constructed, and I believe they still are.
great vid!! like the best i've seen for travelers. i never thought about the uses for 2 vs 4 wheel bags..you blew me away with that fabulousness💗 I have dragged 2-wheelers thru customs at every airport on earth but never thought about the 4 wheel being a better option for me. So my takeaway is i want that for long-haul/airport mostly...and two wheel for dragging thru streets. i'm serious about getting both styles to suit my travel agendas. i rarely do checked bags so this wealth of knowledge is no joke, life changing for me..thank you ever so much!!
The most useful video you could make would be to encourage minimizing the size and number of things you travel with! One of the big miscalculations I made when bringing my mom to Europe was failing to budget a half hour of extra time to review her packing choices. Since I had to carry that humongous beast all over Europe, I regretted missing the chance to streamline her packing. Upon arriving at a motel, it was clear that she brought many things the hotel provided or were easily and inexpensively found nearby. When I asked about her criteria for deciding to pack something, there was no concept about how useful it was, how heavy or bulky it was and did it really provide for an essential need.
This may sound rude, but the rule "You packed it, you carry it" solves that problem very quickly. I realize that elderly parents may be unable to do this, but one would think that older folks have been around enough to know some of these things already.
@@RJS1966USMC Alas, she was imagining a 1950s movie reality with leagues of porters. Thankfully for the return trip she had shipped a few cubic feet of stuff home.
We both have TravelPro luggage and have traveled numerous times with them. No complaints whatsoever! Great video. I like how you shared them in the airline sizers.
I have the 2 wheel version and it's perfect for Europe and cobblestone streets. Broke a wheel on a 4 wheel spinner on those streets and the 2 wheel version handles rough and uneven streets with ease. My favorite bag of all time!
@@wallywal6139 Thank you. I've had the unfortunate experience of a spinner wheel breaking on European cobblestone. 😅 Wasn't so sure I would ever go back to a 2-wheeler, but this makes me reconsider.
@@AK-kl7pg Recently took a 2 week trip to Europe with just this bag and the matching shoulder bag that fits on top perfectly. Banged it up and down the streets of Lisbon, over curbs and up stairways. It took a beating and still looks like new. The best combination that I've ever had. Really light, very well made and holds a lot more that you'd think.
I love my Travelpro! It is light…sturdy…has lasted a very long time…and has pockets in the right places. It is a carryon and very similar (though not identical) to the one you show. The wheels are also good…no skipping or twisting…very smooth
Great video! I don’t live near an international airport, so I really appreciate the time you took to test the bags in all the different sizers. I have a small soft sided Samsonite spinner 20”x 14” x 9” and I can see from your video that I’m going to have to be extra careful not to overpack it so the sides don’t bulge out.
A couple of your videos randomly came up in my feed a few weeks ago. I had been annoyed with my not-very-old luggage, but hadn’t done anything about it…until I saw this video! I ordered it, and I can’t wait to have a reason to use it! I don’t fly often, but I’m thrilled to have it for car trips, too. Thank you!
I have an older version of the 2 wheel Travelpro suitcase we received from our wedding registry 6 yrs ago, and have been very happy with it. It is my go to carry-on roller suitcase, and haven't had any issues.
Exceptionally useful! Having read other reviews of Travelpro bags, I found two in a Chicago area thrift store for $8 each. They are older and smaller. I'd been waiting for a contemporary review on their current offerings. This is it!
I have a 10 yo two wheel version of this bag. It’s a great bag. I used to travel a lot for work (1~2 weeks a month) and this bag is perfect. I love two wheelers as they roll better on different surfaces. I’ve also used this bag on 3 trips to Europe, including one 14 day trip (also used backpack). This is my favorite bag.
We have the 4 wheel bag and we love it BUT we had to check it at Heathrow and again in Vienna. It will absolutely fit on the plane but if the gate person is mean they will make you check it. Fun of flying in 2024 -random rules
I can assure you that the Travelpro Maxlite 5 still fits in carryon size checkers because we traveled for a month throughout Italy last spring and by the end of the trip mine was maxed out. This is the best carryon I’ve ever owned. Originally ordered the Travelpro Maxlite w two wheels with this one to compare them. INTERIOR measurements of the 4-wheel are surprisingly LARGER than the 2-wheel. A difference of inches, by the way, which wasn’t what I was expecting. This bag is designed perfectly. For a carryon, I need to be able to access some items inflight. Can’t do that with a hard side. This bag is light, rolls easily, and holds twice what I thought a carryon would. Great purchase, great price.
This is good to know about the interior size of the 4 wheeler. I was thinking I would get the 2 wheeler but I am concerned about how it’s not 14 inches wide but 15.75 wide. Have you any experience with the 2 wheeler?
5’1” and 6’9”? I watch nearly every video you post and I had no clue. My wife and I loved your Mexico videos. I went to Puerto Vallarta 3x in past 2 years and I still refer to your videos for refresher.

Agree. Five Stars ***** I've used Travel Pro Elite luggage sets for over 20 years. No matter how you need to lift a full bag, there are two handles to make trunk, plane, and hotel loading a breeze. The materials used are rugged.
I bought the Eagle Creek tarmac over 20 years ago and it works great. Fits every airline I’ve ever been on plus they will repair it free for as long as you own it.
I love this TravelPro bag. I have the one with four wheels which is easier for me. I’ve just packed it for a full week away sunny destination so no thick winter clothing admittedly and I do have a washing machine where I’m staying. But such a good bag. I’m in the UK and travel a lot within Europe. I use a walking stick in my left hand, balance my under seat bag on top of this TravelPro case, and I can get through the airport easily.
My wife and I both have the 4 wheel version of this carry-on bag and you are absolutely right - great review and great video. We travel a lot since we are recently retired. All our other bags are Travel Pro, as well, they are great!
Thank you for showing the various sizer bins and the fit of your Travel Pro pieces. I must use a cane for balance while walking distances. Following my trip to Ohio this summer when I used a two-wheel carry-on with a small backpack, my luggage pulling arm was very sore because I couldn't change out arms due to the cane. Upon returning home, I immediately researched spinner luggage and chose to purchase the Travel Pro Maxlite 5 21" carry-on spinner. I have yet to use it, but am prepared for an easier travel experience. Your video has eased my concerns about how my new carry-on will fit the overhead bin space on different airlines. Thank you so much!!!
My Travelpro carry-on is over 30 yrs old. The 2 wheels finally need replacement. Absolutely love it. Only issue I have now is the size restrictions are slightly smaller on some International airlines. So i am going to purchase a new one.....along with hopefully find replacement wheels for my old one.
I have a Travelpro with spinner wheels for 15 years now. This brand was recommended everywhere, but I had to get it shipped overseas. Cost a penny, but was 100% worth it. Its still almost new.
That was fun. I own that exact TravelPro Maxlite 5, 4-wheel spinner - in the same color. Took it as a carry-on when I flew British Airways last year. It also took sidewalks, pavements of all kinds, and even cobbled streets in its stride as I traveled around the UK by train on that three week trip. I mean, I was careful how I handled it in those situations but it did very well. That bag came home in like-new shape. I agree that the 2 wheel bags have a bit more inner space.
My daughter bought me one before I flew on a small airline to see her. It is absolutely perfect and yes, it does fit in the overhead bins. Mine is very pretty deep pink.
I own this bag plus a Travel Pro computer back pack and a Travel Pro under seat bag. They are all perfect. Had trouble with a zipper and they set me a new bag.
Perfect timing! We're traveling to Spain soon, and I need a replacement for my Travelpro bag that I have been using since the early 90s. It's got over 3 million air miles and over a hundred miles being dragged over the cobblestone streets of Vienna and other cities around the world. Travelpro replaced both wheels for me and repaired other damage, but now the handle isn't working any more.
We have two of the travel pro crew 10 bags. We have had them for years. They only have two wheels. We also have four wheeled bags as well, sometimes the four wheels can be harder to maneuver while the two wheeler seems to have more control. I also find the downside of the two wheeler is carrying the weight in your hand and dragging it behind. It depends on type of travel I am doing and which bag is best suited.
I accidentally have this bag! It’s always on sale at Nordstrom rack and I bought it before I saw this video. And agree, I’ve traveled internationally and domestically with it with no issues.
I have a near identical bag that I got from samsonite a few years ago and it’s great for all the reasons you suggest. It fits every airline, even budget carriers in Europe like Ryanair. I prefer the 2 wheels for the extra space and durability. I am shocked they don’t seem to carry this style anymore but good to know there is a brand that offers it.
Great reviews of really great products. I use a TravelPro Platinum Elite 16”. I can get enough shirts/socks/shorts, toiletries, electronics for 5-7 days. I just returned from a 3 week vacation to China and Japan with it I got the 16” several years ago as I can stow it wheels first in a 747 center overhead (I think that only applies to Lufthansa nowadays) No other carryon could do that. Also EU airlines are very strict on carryon sizes On most overheads I can put it in wheels first and my backpack in the same space as a regular carryon I’ve got around 200,000 miles on it. Only a few flights as checked in
I have a Britbag carry on that only weighs 5 pounds. It has four wheels and I absolutely love it. I’ve had it for at least five years and have taken it on many vacations and through many airports and it’s holding up great.
I just bought the 2 wheeled bag today and your video answered all the questions I was trying to get answered on amazon! Seeing the bags at the airport was the best! Thank you so much for your time.
We’re going on our first overseas trip, and checking out baggage restrictions to see if we need new carryons. Very helpful video! But I notice your bag is over the limit on a number of sizing charts ( in one or more dimensions) yet it still fits fine. Are the dimensions posted on the airport sizers purposefully undersized?
Glad they all fit, I orinally wanted the smaller Travel Pro, but got the middle size earlier this year, then I decided it was too small and got the biggest compact size. Glad they fit! Love the bag! Thanks for this!
This is a fantastic review. Our family has been using TravelPro luggage exclusively for decades. My husband and I have the TP Maxlite 3 International Spinners and our teens have the TP Maxlite 5 International Spinners.
I'm looking for options for my mom and this may be something we get for her. While I'm a 4-wheel gal, I appreciate them making a 2-wheel version b/c that works better for her. PS, I have now subscribed as I really appreciate your thorough video.
I got the Travelpro Maxlite 5 Softside Expandable 21” 4-wheeler and have been using it for a year or so, and indeed, super light weight and overall great carry-on.
As a handyman that specializes in carpentry and woodworking but deal with enough metal, you brought to my attention about the sizing charts with the metal baskets. Though metal does have tighter tolerancs than wood, the metal could also be bend of fabricated with wrong measurements and weren't caught with any quality control. Also while we're on the subject, not all tape measures are "accurate" (some are off), though this is usually minor and only noticeable in the higher numbers. There's also different scaling systems of measurements where one foot is more or less than a foot from a different system, but again minor differences. And I suppose but could be wrong that tape measure manufacturers have adopted a certain measurement system.
Excellent video! I appreciate your going to the airport and testing in the different airline sizers! I am a 2 wheel lady all the way, these soft sided two wheelers are getting harder to find!!
This video gives your channel loads of credibility with me. I am generally unimpressed with other luggage reviews because they review such mediocre and yet expensive luggage. I’ve owned too many different suitcases to count, and the Maxlite 5 carryon - either version- are just the best.
Thank you for literally doing the legwork to make this video! The one hang-up I have with this bag (and most sold as "carry-on") is that it is 5cm too wide for Air France's 35cm width restriction. But I see this is what sticks out past the top of the sizer, so maybe they don't care too much?
I just came back from a trip last week and brought my new Travelpro 4 wheel carryon bag! It’s a great bag! Very lightweight and smooth wheels. I’m thinking of buying the larger checked version for my next trip.
Hi Ally! I don't check my luggage anymore due to a few lost luggage episodes so carry-on is always the way to go for me. I used to own another soft-sided bag but the inside & outside compartments didn't work for me. I bought this "20 bag a few years ago and it's the only bag I use to travel. Thanks for sharing!
I have the smaller of the carryon which was good on Swissair and Turkish and I believe Canadian. And they check very carefully. The man who did the checking looked at it and was surprised how it fit. They were looking for the checked luggage fee.

I frequently check my bag at the gate with no cost, as a senior, never been denied. Lifting to the overhead bin is not possible. I have a small packing cube with 2 tops/underwear, in my personal bag just in case. The negative is limited space for shoes. I do love the bag, works great for seniors!
@donkiml5805 Thank you for your feedback!! As I said in my comment above we are looking for options for my mom who is 80 years young this year!
If she needs lighter, maybe a rolling underseater bag.
As a senior I was interested in your report now that I am not so able to deal with heavier luggage. However, some airlines in Europe do not allow a carry on plus an extra item, a handbag/purse, which is a problem.
This is good to know👍
Just got back from a 2 1/2 month trip through Europe and took the Travelpro. It was fantastic! Just took this and one other smaller carry on. I had no issues taking them onboard.
Can you tell me what size was your Travelpro bag? I need one for European travel that won't cause problems on the regional airlines. Thanks!
Wow! I will start taking a measuring device with me because I didn't expect those metal frames would cheat on us. Thanks for measuring with yours!
I recently replaced my old luggage with a set of Travel Pro. It is absolutely amazing luggage! From my carry on to my large regular suitcase, I love them all
I have this carry-on bag. It is an excellent bag and I bought it at BJ’s.
Could not agree more! Nothing fancy but Maxlite 5 just does the job. Great bang for your buck bag. Nice work, Aly!
Thanks for watching guys!!
Appreciate your efforts doing the live demo with different airlines Carry on bag size requirements, very helpful. Cheers 👍
The modern bags are t nearly as nice as the older ones, sadly
great vid!! like the best i've seen for travelers. i never thought about the uses for 2 vs 4 wheel bags..you blew me away with that fabulousness💗 I have dragged 2-wheelers thru customs at every airport on earth but never thought about the 4 wheel being a better option for me.
Good points. I have a yearly trip up long escalators in MARTA stations in Atlanta. Escalator can eat about any roller if you're not ready for it.
Are the wheels different sizes? Or is it really the # of wheels that's the only difference?
@@AK-kl7pg The wheels are much larger and seem to be more robust on the 2 wheel version
This is it!
Thorough, detailed, well shot/produced. You’re a must-follow for any traveller 👍
Thank you for bringing the bags to the airport and putting them in the airline sizers! I am traveling on KLM soon and this video was perfect.
The amount of research you did for this is amazing and even though I don't need it new luggage you make me want to buy one
Hehe maybe one day you'll run into us in PV and you can see the height difference in real life!!
I saw u on fremont and I literally screamed to my husband omg I follow her on RUclips and I couldn't believe how short u were next to ur significant other . I'm 5'1 aswell but next to him u looked so much shorter. I was too shy to say hi 😞 I was in Vegas may 31st - June 5th
@@jessicasolis5208 Next time!! I love when people come san say hi!
I have started to use Travel Pro bags a few years ago. They are light and durable. I love them.
Does the one you purchased have the TSA Lock on the side? Thanks!
@@lindabarley6335 No, it does not.
I purchased the set labeled "Get Away" that included a tote in lieu of the carry-on with the embedded TSA lock.
My TravelPro carry-on bag is about 20 years old now and I'm very happy with it. Well made. Well designed.
kay, I’ve always scratched my head about the obsession around the kislux book totes and their practicality, but this one is adorable!! Congratulations
I have a Travelpro with spinner wheels for 15 years now. This brand was recommended everywhere, but I had to get it shipped overseas. Cost a penny, but was 100% worth it. Its still almost new.
I have this bag and love it!! Super light, durable and spacious! Thanks for a great and useful review!!
That was very well done! Informative, simple, and thorough! I travel a lot between Asia and the U.S., so this video was extremely helpful. Thanks!
Awesome to hear!
Oh wow! I just bought this in the same color! Used to go to London and came home 2 days ago!! Best bags ever!!!
We have both of these bags and they are very durable and flexible!! Had them for several years and they are holding up very well!!!
Love your video. May I know which one you will recommend and fit for all airlines.? Travelpro Maxlite 5 19” 4-wheel OR 5 21”?
for all airlines, I would choose the 19"
I went to the UK with the 4 wheeled bag. Almost 3 weeks of travel on planes, train and tube. I was more than happy with my bag. It’s very light.
I did the same thing. No problems and I was very pleased. My husband didn’t think I could get all my clothes into 1 carry on.
My daughter bought me one before I flew on a small airline to see her. It is absolutely perfect and yes, it does fit in the overhead bins. Mine is very pretty deep pink.
Extremely useful and helpful video. Excellent demonstration and testing 👍
I recently purchaseg the 19-inch 4- wheeler and love it. It performs beautifully!
I just returned from a 3 week vacation to China and Japan with it
I got the 16” several years ago as I can stow it wheels first in a 747 center overhead (I think that only applies to Lufthansa nowadays) No other carryon could do that. Also EU airlines are very strict on carryon sizes
On most overheads I can put it in wheels first and my backpack in the same space as a regular carryon
I’ve got around 200,000 miles on it.
Australia here - Fantastic video. Thanks for going to that much trouble, it's really appreciated.
OMG the luggage tag - “Art Vandelay” 😂😂😂
@@cardiogirl798It was a fictitious name and identity created by the character George in the Seinfeld show
But my name is Kjel Varnsen!
Yes, I believe he's good friends with H.E. Pennypacker.
@@deidrefisher7373 Yes. Here a little trivia: Moe's Southwest Grill had the "Art Vandelay" burrito from 12/01/2000 to 10/03/2016.
Have had this bag for 2 years. Its fantastic.
This is a fantastic review. Our family has been using TravelPro luggage exclusively for decades. My husband and I have the TP Maxlite 3 International Spinners and our teens have the TP Maxlite 5 International Spinners.
I have this bag! It holds so much. Used on a trip to China and most recent to Europe. Best bag ever!
Thank you for showing these in the actual bins. Very helpful.
Best comprehensive bag review video. This bag is great
I'm looking for options for my mom and this may be something we get for her.
Thanks Aly for your impressive in-dept video on this TravelPro bag. I'm going to get the four wheeler.
I managed to grab the 4 wheel during prime days a few years ago for $20! Did a 10 day Med cruise with only that carryon plus a personal item.
I like this video. Its very detailed with the baggage information. Question ? Did you have anything in the bags?😊
