Pretty happy I came across this video. I've always felt more comfortable playing how you are without a pick, but never thought you could get as good as sound as you would with a pick; how wrong I was!
Great MJT gold foils, Andy great progressions, super jazz voicings. Please post a comment on the motif and progression. Love to work out some of it a great session. Thank you
One thing I really like about this is the blender kit: being able to blend two pickups together in a controlled way is something I don't know why all guitars don't have.
Great clean sound. I love gold foils for that. But IMHO I like humbuckers for dirt. Single coils work for some rack tones, but gold foils sound better for cleans, u less you're switching back and forth during a song.
Doesnt even sound like a Strat! More like a hollowbody or a gretch-ish guitar. Its got its own quirky character and I bet it would sound better with a rosewood neck. Cool video!
Think I just figured out what to do with my Deluxe Strat. The SCN pickups are nice enough tonally but IMO too dang hot. I've always loved the sound of Teisco gold foils…
I have a vintage Teisco with original gold foils. I love the clean tone to death but the second I turn up too loud or add distortion they squeal like a cat being flattened by a semi-truck.
+Frankieh16 I have had a few old ones in my home made tele a lot of them are microphonic. That gives them their distinct tone but basically turns them into feedback machines. Try yelling in them its a cool effect. It looks cool too yelling some lyrics into your pickup, add some delay and fuzz. I went thru a few before I found one that will work with some drive, they do get a bit muddy they love some treble boost.
Oh yea..... the originals were HORRIBLE about that, most of the new ones are vacuum potted or have brass base plates to avoid the "cat vs semi" thing. Lol. I did an "ugly guitar build" with spare parts I had laying around.... long story short, I put a GFS set in a Warlock that had a reverse hs tele neck, and a wraparound brass bridge.... it sounded REALLY nice.
how on gods green earth do I install these pickups? lets say i have a pickguard routed for p90 so this will fit... how are you raising and lowering the pickup? how is it not just falling out when the guitar is upside down? foam and glue?
I was wondering the same. I think they screw direct into the body of the guitar, maybe with a bit of padding behind, similar to jazzmaster or gretsch p/us (but different size than either)
Can you please tell me what Fender calls the color of this guitar? I have an early 90's corona in this color and I've never been able to find a name for the color. Please please please???
charlton Moore Not 100% sure on this but I believe it is Olive Metallic / Metallic Olive. I was searching for a Jade Pearl Metallic fender strat and woh d up running across some that looked like this, they were labeled Olive Metallic.
You can get a pickguard to fit our Gold Foils from Pickguardian and send it to us. We can wire it all up on the pickguard for the price of the pickups and our wiring harness. You have to direct mount these pickups to the body. www.mojotone.com/pickups
These style of pickups have different eras and right-off mentioning Teisco (''BigTime-Rippoffs'') is doing the greatest dis-service! Here are the Mojo-Tones, period! So if you like em like I do,.. they can cover Gretsch,Fender, but more of a unique and very dynamic alternative,..I don't believe the GFS ones are anything like these,..first-off the 44awg wire and rubber magnet like Andy's Strat on a '60s SilverTone Twin #1484 or '50s Tweed Era 5E3 Deluxe, & Twin, is gonna be pure Primo Vintage tone and Big Time Cooder guitar chiming worth the investment,..heck let alone the possibility of the slide riffing heard on David Lindley, & Ry Cooder's best is what can come of what you have here! But of these pickups, not others that neither you or I haven't heard!!! They have a Big Sound, and from what I've read here not to everyone's liking, but heck yeah and the price for 3 is gonna be a very expensive venture, also with the Mojo Tone ''Johnny Winter's'' Mini Bucker there's a world that Mojotone is building on to getting us a true but modern Vintage/Killer tone machine, almost the same venue traveled with the advent of the ''TV Jones''Tron ' market but from the '50-60s Dynasonic/Harmony period, pretty cool stuff!
+Chris Davis no routing needed.. these are wafer thin and the only "routing" you need is just to cut out the pickguard to fit the mojo's and just screw the mojo's right over the original strat routing
Sorry to say this, but all the demos of the Lollar Gold Foils sound so much better than this demo of the Mojotones. The problem is I don't know if this is just down to the way the demo's were made, or if it is a difference in the sound of the pickups themselves.
What's the value of your comment? Don't buy them. You must be confused, you do realize no one cares what you think, I don't even think you take your own opinions seriously.
These won't catch on, guitar players don't like change even if they sound better, which is debatable here, you can't hear what's better and what isn't on RUclips .
Clean tone? really? Sorry, that demo sounds terrible and does nothing to promote Mojotone Gold Foil pickups. In fact, based on that demo, I definitely would not consider buying them.
Coffee & TV, classic. Just love it.
me too. wasn't expecting it. such a pleasant surprise
Would love to hear these side by side with the Lollar gold foils.
Those are some gnarlyass pickups right there folks.
These pickups sounds so amazing and Andy's playing is always good.
Was interested to hear what they sound like and bam intro is one of my favorite songs
Pretty happy I came across this video. I've always felt more comfortable playing how you are without a pick, but never thought you could get as good as sound as you would with a pick; how wrong I was!
..it took THIS video to point that out to you?....🤯
@@joycesanders4898: there always has to be someone with a little "narkiness" about them, doesn't there?
I literally just want these for that neck and middle position. that's incredibly crystalline and deep.
Nice to see an 80's Strat being used and it looks brand new........probably the best choice with the bathtub routing and easy installation.
Great MJT gold foils, Andy great progressions, super jazz voicings. Please post a comment on the motif and progression. Love to work out some of it a great session. Thank you
man, these sound GREAT! If I hadn't already bought a new set, I'd take these for sure!
One thing I really like about this is the blender kit: being able to blend two pickups together in a controlled way is something I don't know why all guitars don't have.
Awesome song to demo the pups with. Love me some Blur!
This cover was a pleasant surprise!
great Coffee & tv cover!
Love gold foils. Delicious clean tones.
Ima tell you what - that's some great playing. The pickups sound cool, too.
Andy, how do these compare head to head with the Lollar version? Have you had any experience with the Lollars?
I wonder if goldfoils would be a good substitution for the odd humbucker sized single coil Dearmond's Eric Bell had in his strat.
Thanks for the track comment “Coffee and TV” by Blur, Andy’s a great player. We are subscr now. Great U Tube site
Thank you! Remember this is only an archive channel. For current videos, please look at Reverb and AndyDemos channels!

Gold foils with a vintage tweed style amp. Low wattage.. tube Overdrive.. sounds amazing. Just ask blake mills!
Doesnt even sound like a Strat! More like a hollowbody or a gretch-ish guitar. Its got its own quirky character and I bet it would sound better with a rosewood neck. Cool video!
I love these things, and definitely want a set. I just can't decide what body shape to put them in. Hmmmm
Bolt right to the wood of a tele with a short bridge.
As much as I dislike them, in thinking a Jazzmaster body may be best aesthetically... But a tele's a good idea too
I have one (vtg) in the neck and fit and old electromuse eye beam in the bridge. Works great. No pickguard.
coffee and tv is the perfect choice of song to convince me
3:17 now what the heck just happened there
lol cool just happened
I too was caught off gaurd with that little lick, sounds so cool

Sounds like Velvet underground!
Anyone know that slide riff he plays during the slide show and at the end of the video? Sounds a lot like Zeppelin.
Very nice!
Nobody caught Big Dwarf Rodeo during the blender pot demo??
Smoke if ya got'em!
Teisco used rubberized Neo magnets and had a very cool tone ,these are way better sounding.
What song is at 2:16?
Warm and clacky that can swap to glassy and clean. Me likey.
Ricky basses also used rubberized magnets
MmMm what about a Tele with a set of these Pups ?
Great job there Andy! Amazing sound and playability as always
oh man, I think these guys got it right! My Teisco might just get a refurb job.
So ProGuitarShop is making demos of itens they don't sell? I can not find it at their website.
www.mojotone.com/gold-foil-clone
Thank you Steve! Do you know if this pickup could be the same that guitar Fetish is selling?
Blues Overdrive No, the Mojotone pickups are made in their shop in North Carolina to the original specs, even down the the rubberized magnets.
Steve Snyder Cool, thanks for the info.
Can you please tell me what Fender calls the color of this guitar? I have an early 90's corona in this color and I've never been able to find a name for the color. Please please please???

^wound up
I can't thank you enough. I've learned a lot about my strat after learning this. Thanks!!!
These are screwed to the top of the pickguard ?
How much for a preloaded pickguar or a set?
You can get a pickguard to fit our Gold Foils from Pickguardian and send it to us. We can wire it all up on the pickguard for the price of the pickups and our wiring harness. You have to direct mount these pickups to the body. www.mojotone.com/pickups

Nelson DeJesus
English isn't your first language? Trying drugs for the first time?
Sweet.
Anyone know the song at 2:16 ?
Specs from the 60s ...so I guess these are not noiseless in any way?
One would have to do a serious route job to fit those onto a strat
+Chris Davis They make these in humbucker size.
there are strat single coil sizes
+Chris Davis These are "top mount", so , no routing,
+Chris Davis no routing needed.. these are wafer thin and the only "routing" you need is just to cut out the pickguard to fit the mojo's and just screw the mojo's right over the original strat routing
3:18...awesome
coffee and TV great song
I'm only here for proof of whether Andy is a great player. :-D
these pickups sound like everything else.... what's the big deal?
SpookyApparition They dont but ok
Sorry to say this, but all the demos of the Lollar Gold Foils sound so much better than this demo of the Mojotones. The problem is I don't know if this is just down to the way the demo's were made, or if it is a difference in the sound of the pickups themselves.
I agree
is he playing pavement?
That's Blur-Coffee & TV (Graham was definitely influenced by Pavement).
would had been nice to actually hear the guitar being played with a pick! I bet the sound would be slightly louder and more defined.
He is using a pick lol
Where in the video?
blur 2015
bluwng, I don't care for them, I told you what they remind me of. They made the video to hear the pups. Am I going too fast for you?
TESCO!
テスコ。
blur!
Give me coooooofffffeeeeee aaand TTTVVVVVVVVVV!
Sorry but they sound like the pups on my first crappy solid body Harmony guitar. Yuck, spent my whole life trying to avoid that sound!
What's the value of your comment? Don't buy them. You must be confused, you do realize no one cares what you think, I don't even think you take your own opinions seriously.
You areb Not Old enough And You are Not Bad Enough !!
I think they sound fantastic, especially the bridge pickup is very responsive.
Haha oh geez folks this got intense
Paul Murro they’re back...in pog form
Didn't care for these
These won't catch on, guitar players don't like change even if they sound better, which is debatable here, you can't hear what's better and what isn't on RUclips .
It sound like cheap , shrill , scrap guitar pickups. Comme on guys ...Old dont always mean good.
Clean tone? really? Sorry, that demo sounds terrible and does nothing to promote Mojotone Gold Foil pickups. In fact, based on that demo, I definitely would not consider buying them.
what's the song around 1:30?
