It's crazy, I search for your videos in order to learn a bit about tone, and then I'm ALWAYS dazzled by the amazing playing and feeling. Suddenly I don't even care about pickups anymore, I just want to study and play more!! Real nice Joe! Thanks for that!
Joe, I first heard Dylan when I was 13, on CDs from the 90s I dug up from my Dad's collection. I remember listening to it with my ear right up against the stereo and being awash in chills from something I was too young to understand, but something I could feel intimately that was communicated without words or shape or form. Listening to you do these songs conjures that same ravishment that is lost when you pursue Dylan's elusive meaning all your life. Thank you very much and I swear I was frozen when you did the fiddle bit from Oh Sister.
god damn this is cool. I just got a handful of harmonic design p90 style pickups. I've been hearing a lot about goldies. maybe next time. thanks for the great video.
"Girl from the North Country" as played by Dylan and Johnny Cash on "Nashville Skyline" - how your guitar impersonates Cash's deep low voice is just perfection !
I also dabble with parts guitars and plan to get some gold foil pickups, too...I like what you've done and it sounds great. BTW, that tan acoustic guitar, third from the left on the wall behind you, really has me intrigued.
lol for this video I kept thinking 'damn that is an amazing sounding tremolo' then saw at the end of the video it was by a company called Joe Gore, then go to look up the PURR pedal demo and find out YOU are Joe Gore lol! Seriously, fucking amazing pedal! Gonna order one from Vintage King this week. You have such a great style of playing, I could loop this video all day.
Something called "the old homestead" by Heartland Aire with birds singing some light piano and an encredible fiddle came on the Sounscapes music channel just as you began doing the mandoline on guitar it was a marraige made in heaven. lol Sad that I was the only one on the planet that got to hear it. Now off to Lollars website to order those goldies!! wow
I have a strat with a lefty neck, wilkinson vintage style single coils, with which I've realized I very rarely use the middle pickup. I wonder what a gold foil in middle position would sound like. I found some custom foils with standard strat pickup dimensions on ebay but haven't pulled the trigger on it yet.
Joe you're abad example for younger generations. If I finally decide to order myself a DIY strat kit, it will be your fault, Joe. And if while I'm at it I put Gold Foils on it, your responsability will be even greater. I must keep my fingers crossed, because it will be my first time doing that. But in the end if I get it right I will owe you a BIG thank you. (I only used a soldering iron no more than 2 or 3 times in my life...). Well, well...
Hi, Joe. Thanks for a great as usual video. Have you tried any other cheaper alternatives to Lollars (besides allparts -- they do sound different)? If so, then do you have any suggestions?
I’ve got a huge weird question about a project idea I have. I’ve got this SG copy lying around, and I want to put a top mount gold foil pickup into it. I was thinking I’d have it with push pull pots for the humbuckers to go to single coils, and stacked knobs on one volume for the HB and tone for the other HB. I also wanted to have a series vs parallel switch for the gold foil, so I was thinking of just adding a mini toggle for off, on in series, then on in parallel. Is this actually possible or too crazy?
tonefiend by joe gore yeah I’m talking about adding a third pickup to it and trying to wire it so I have a tone and volume control for every pickup, a split for the two humbuckers and a way of switching from wiring the gold foil in series or in parallel when it’s in combination with the humbuckers
What were the dimensions of the Lollar pickups? Am I right assuming none of them actually fit a standard humbucker rout? I have a body I'd consider putting them in, but I'm a little reluctant to hack up a perfectly good already-finished guitar body if I don't have to.
Old thread, but Lollar makes a Novel Foil now that fits a standard humbucker rout. I just ordered a set for my SG thanks in no small part to this and a handful of other demos. I'm hooked Joe!
Hey Joe, Im considering doing a similar build. Do you mind me asking which pickup rout you ordered from Warmoth, and what mounting style you got on the gold foils?

This tone and approach is exactly what I dig. Nailed it.
The arrangement is also stellar.
I keep coming back to listen to this
Shoot, I come here just to hear master gore play. Beautiful.
Hard same.
You Da Man J.G. every time I watch you loop I learn something new... Thank You.
Thank you, Mr. Fiend.
@@joe_gore Oh no, the pleasure is most certainly mine, Mr. Fiend., most certainly mine.
So beautiful.
Aw, thanks! :)
Beautiful playing, sound...really everything. It conjures up that feeling when I was young and would listen to music and just get lost.
This is beautiful beyond words! You really are a master player mate 👍
Just love listening to Joe play. Thanks Joe. My headspace is good now.
If only I could like 3 times for the tone, the playing and the and safety pin
Amazing tones! Simply gorgeous ear candy! Ya sold me on these Lollar Gold Foils!
The first song you played was fantastic, sounded like a take on "Girl From the North Country"
That tone is insane!
You got the TONES ! Tone King!

Beautiful playing and unique tones. Really impressed with the sound!
Great creative playing, great demo's and funny guy! Want to see many more!
It’s like a meditation. You are so soulful..
I've put some of these gold foil pickups on three of my guitars recently. They have an out-of-this-world sound.
@@joe_gore They are really High-fidelity pick-ups. The sound is ultra-precise and open. They make playing guitar a different experience.
Enjoy your channel so much! So versatile and tastefull. Never knew that flattwounds could sound that nice.

Beautiful, thanks Joe
Gittar with musical meaning - love it
Made my evening go....thanks Joe!
Your take on Johnny Cash´s voice :´). Awesome and beautiful, Joe :)!
Passes the acid test: Beautiful music coming out of these pickups on this video.
They actually sound good! 👍
Hee hee. Is it THAT surprising?
Very very nice theme
I absolutely love them in clean neck position, less my thing in overdriven bridge position...
@@joe_gore Have a nice day Joe, be well 🤗

beautiful!
This is good like sunday morning.....
How would you compare the gold foils to P90s? Great video btw, subscribed.
Thanks!
Nice tone.Nice Trini Lopez behind!
Love it all but would be nice to just hear the guitar to amp clean. Very good looking guitar.

I heard puff the magic 🐉
I am going to check a Duh Fuzz.....It may the ONE I still don’t have.....
are you using flat wounds on that guitar? If so they balance out and work surprisingly well with the gold foils.

Joe is that a Lenny bread type Baldwin acoustic on the wall? Yes!
Yep as I expected! Badass!
It's that guy!
Nonsense, you're an inspiration!
Girl From from the north country!
Perfection ☺️
Flatwounds on this guy too?
Hey Joe,
Im considering doing a similar build. Do you mind me asking which pickup rout you ordered from Warmoth, and what mounting style you got on the gold foils?
Oh, and also did you have to get a custom job done on the pickguard? Or did you just order the P-90 cut from warmoth?
Why do I feel like "puffin' the magic dragon?" Weird???
if you need a safety pin to give your pickguard that real baby diaper look, well... there you have it.
the Lollar price is a shame
"Has anyone here...?"
Take a load off.....
Nice TONE ❤ …
