THPS4 gets so underrated, I’m glad it’s your #2 on the list. So many hidden features that were exclusive to that game. THUG was the game that got me into skateboarding, the down to earth story and relatability captivated my imagination as a child.
THPS3, 4 and THUG are my top 3 as well. Those games not only got me into skateboarding (for a short while) but expanded my taste in music with great soundtracks. They’re all enjoyable to this day.
Here my personal list of Top 5 Tony Hawk Games 1. Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 2. Tony Underground 3. Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4 4. Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 5. Tony Hawk Pro Skater
At first i was like "am I really gonna watch a 45 minute video on a list of this guys favorite tony hawk games?" and then next thing I knew it was over! Great work!
Nice video bro! Earned a sub. I definitely agree with some parts and disagree with others. Im working through playing all the Tony hawk main console games myself. My personal list of the few ive played completely so far would be: 1. THPS3 2.THUG 3.THPS2 4.THPS 5.THPS4 6.THUG2 Sufficed to say i dont enjoy the games that left the original 2 minute formula nearly as much but at least thug has a good story.
THUG was my number one, until Vicarious Visions released that absolute masterpiece of a remaster of THPS1+2. But here's my subjective list of favourites (that i have played): THPS1+2 remastered THUG THUG2 American Wasteland THPS4 THPS2 THPS Project 8 And to end it all off with the robomoto remaster on Xbox 360
Great video I have a nitpick though 41:05 "With most create-a-modes, it's simply just expanding upon things" Couldn't the addition of manuals in 2, the spine transfers, level outs, and grind + manual changeups in 4, wallplants in THUG etc. also be considered "simply just expanding upon things"? I get that the create a park / create a goal modes are deprioritized in the grand scheme of playing the games, but the additions they DID include made a huge difference for how much I enjoyed using the THUG2 level editor vs. the THPS2 one for example. The Rail Tool and the Create a Goal modes are IMO as dramatically iterative for the level editor mode as Manualling and Spine Transfers were for the skateboarding gameplay
As someone who managed to get a copy of THUG before Covid I found the story to be SO FUCKING AWESOME! I tried to reply the story again to get the alternate ending but there's a scratch on the disc that keeps me from continuing on with the story I can still play the game and all the levels any time I want but because of that scratch I cant go past after completing the Tampa competition
I would not put Pro Skater 1 and 2 so high in the list. They aren't bad games per say, they just didn't really age well and are hard to come back to if you're used to all the added mechanics of 3 and 4. I'd rather play THAW, THP8 or THPG over the original two games (I actually quite like THP8). Pro Skater 1+2 is in my top 4, though. Also, people needed to hear that segment about THAW. THAW is a good game but it's easily the most overrated TH game in the franchise. The story mode is a glorified tutorial, in-game paywalls to progress the story and added a bunch of useless features except for the boned ollie and banked drops.
My Tony Hawk's games list: 14.Tony Hawk's Ride (worst Tony Hawk's game because it felt like a poorly put together cash grab that tried to profit off the success of Guitar Hero) 13.Tony Hawk's Shred (more of the same with Ride but just a little more refined and it includes snowboarding) 12.Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 ( imo it is actually the worst Tony Hawk's game but it's number 12 because it didn't include the finicky skate board controller) 11.Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam ( I didn't actually play this one myself but from what I seen it is so unlike any other Tony Hawk's game. It includes gimmicky skateboarding in a poorly designed racing game.) 10.Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD ( Prolly Romodo's best Tony Hawk's game but it still sucked! It felt mostly like a budget remaster which didn't even include all of the THPS levels) 9.Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 ( the first in the series so it can seem a little underwhelming and devoid of content) 8.Tony Hawk's Proving Ground (the last in Neversoft's original THPS series. It includes maybe too much unnecessarily poor and rushed game elements) 7. Tony Hawk's Project 8 ( the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Project 8 were actually really fun but it feels like it could have highly benefited from a delayed release date. If Project 8 on Ps3 and Xbox 360 maybe had two years in development it would have been the best way for Neversoft to end the beloved THPS series. If Project 8 could have had all of Proving Ground's elements but refined I would have easily been willing to give up Proving Ground. My favorite part of the Ps3 and Xbox 360 versions of Project 8 was its world. Neversoft took several previous level design ideas and made a world out of them. ) 6. Tony Hawk's American Wasteland ( American Wasteland, for its time was actually a pretty solid THPS game. However, in a lot of ways it feels like maybe THAW should have been the last THPS game. It borrows too heavily from established elements of THUG 2 including some of its REMIX levels. The real problem with THAW is that it really feels like Neversoft ran out of original innovation. For everything that THAW tried to include it had already been given in previous games without offering enough original game elements. ) 5. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 ( THPS 2 is the best PS1 era Tony Hawk's game. I would have placed it higher honestly. It's prolly as low as it is just because it was a ps1 game.) 4.Tony Hawks Underground 2 ( While the story of THUG 2 can be a bit much with how over the top it is the gameplay engine for THUG 2 is imo the best out of the series. That's why it's number 4) 3..Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 ( in a lot of ways THPS 4 feels very much unlike a classic Pro Skater game. It included several enhancements without sacrificing the core focus on skateboarding.Even though THPS 4 did have some mini games none of them took away from the experience of being a Pro Skater) 2.Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 ( the best and most classic in the original THPS series. Even the Ps1 down port was really good. Which is shocking cause Project 8's ps2 down port was trash. For THPS 3, its levels, music, gameplay, overall fun factor, and for how iconic it is the series could have ended at 3. If it did end at 3 the series would still be as beloved today) 1.Tony Hawk's Underground ( THUG 1 really needs no introduction. There's a reason why when people make these list Underground is almost always number 1. Tony Hawk's Underground is not just my favorite Tony Hawk's game but it is one of if not my favorite game of all time! The only poor feature of THUG 1 was the driving. However, THUG 1 has my favorite levels, story, music, and for being almost 18 years old it could easily hold its ground against games released even today.) Honourable Mentions: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2x, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2, Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Remix, Tony Hawk's Project Mod, and Tony Hawk's Underground Pro.
i had the ride board. i used it once. not just the worst tony hawk game, probably the worst control system for any video game ever. the tony hawks for gameboy advance get a dishonorable mention as well, 2d skating is trash.
My list would be almost identical, but swap THUG and THPS4. THUG is amazing, but its not as replayable as THPS4. Great list! You obviously understand the Tony Hawk games!
@@silentspeedruns don't try and pull a fast one on me!! i know you're making billions off the ever-lucrative tony hawk market!! you just play it off so you aren't a target for crooks and THIEVES...
Ya know I'm prob gonna get shit for this but, I mostly disagree I think Proving grounds was underrated and did what project 8 was trying to do and perfected it
Personally I think thug 1 was a little over rated, the levels were dull, the graphics desperately needed a push forward after 4 and it didn’t happen, and the walking and climbing was atrocious. All the goals were “go find these” very boring goals.
Okay let me go: Nintendo DS has a version of American Sk8land (that's the name of it) and one of Proving Ground. Both are awesome to play ! Really ! The story of American is a little different tho, and the cutscenes are nice ! Proving Ground is also cool, but i mostly played American. I Wish American Wasteland had the Matt Hoffman's Pro BMX 2 controls for the BMX part, it would be more fun to play hmm I Still haven't played every game of the franchise...... like thps1 and 2 LMAO I KNOW... but i want to play them in the 2x version, because it's like a damn deluxe edition idk lol those and the PS3/360 versions of the games after AW. Such a shame to never played thps1 and 2 haha But i got the xbox, just need the game or softmodded it Well, i mostly agreed with the first 3 spots lol They are very unique games and i love them equally. Nice soundtrack ! I also enjoyed that you talked about the online modes ! Never saw some of them. Nice video ! I will give you 5 stars !
Never played any handhelds although I'd be most likely to play THUG2 Remix. Have heard nothing but good things about it. If I'm remembering right THPS2X uses the engine from THPS3? So it's a different experience from THPS2 but still probably my favorite version. In doing research for this video I learned about a lot of new game modes I'd never heard of as well. Unfortunate that I missed out on so much of it, oh well.
@@silentspeedruns never played thug2 reamix, but i watched a let's play by TylerLasagna a few years ago ! it was cool ! yes ! thps2x uses the thps3 engine ! welp, imagine playing online when the games were solid and popular lol would be funny as hell

Haha, thanks man. I've had that moment far too many times, glad you gave me a chance :)
I watched the whole video thinking you had way more subs. That’s a lot of effort man really liked the vid.
25:57 i love that "Touch and go" song from Tekken 4 you used in the background 🔥🔥🔥🔥
THUG & THPS4 are also my #1 and #2 respectively.
Yes!!!! Those games perfected the open world aspect in my opinion. Super fun missions
Yes!!

Since he kindly asked :
1 - THUG 2
2 - THUG 1
3 - THPS 3
4 - THPS 2x (specifically the 2x version0
5 - THPS 4
Great Video coming from Guy love The Tony Hawk Pro Skater Games
That tekken 4 beach song 🔥
THAW suffered from having bad maps because this might have the best gameplay of any tony hawk and a great storymodw

Okay nvm you literally talk about this in the video haha
My list is the exact same as this. New subscriber here! Cheers 🥂
What about American Wasteland doing the 720 over the helicopter was legendary.
This video deserves a lot more views, THUG was also my number 1
wlls in multiplayers seams like the skater version of the bike game in tron
I agree with this heavy the only thing I would maybe change is underground2 and wasteland but that’s debatable
You basically reviewed all the new Tony Hawk games here's a like
Thug, thps 3, thps 4 & thps 1+2 remake are easily the best games in the series.
Weird watching a video and seeing some of your THPS3 clips in it lol (33:23)
20:39

Disney's Extreme Skate Adventure.

Either THPS4 or THUG. Although I'm more biased towards THUG since I played it more
SilentStreams I’ve been playing thug lately it’s really replay-able only thing is I feel like the skater models aren’t as good as pro skater 3/4
