      Bought one for my son, and after a few weeks of running it stock, we put in longer axles, a 90 tooth spur gear, and Slash wheels on it. The larger wheel gave it more ground clearence, and it handles the terraine WAY better! Spent roughly $50.

    First of all, congrats on hitting 200 subs!!! You deserve it, your content is top notch, and super professional quality! 🙂
    I have a 2WD Rustler VXL and a 4WD Rustler VXL. 2WD Rustler is completely stock except for a couple RPM arms in the rear (not sure what the technical name is for the part). I stripped the spur gear on the 4WD Rustler, so I replaced it with a steel spur gear, but that's the only mod for that one. Both have seen some cartwheels, but I don't take them over any jumps, but they seem to hold up pretty well. I run 2s in the 2wd Rustler as it's pretty hard to control/keep the front wheels down, but run 3s in the 4wd Rustler.

    • @10thScaleGarage
      @10thScaleGarage  4 года назад +1

      Yes! I remember you telling me about the rustler and was hoping you’d see this video! I usually just call those things “a arms” or “control arms.” I just swapped my Arrma Typhon to RPM a arms. I hear good things. Thanks for the kind words!

  • @bhosterman
    @bhosterman 4 года назад +6

    I just bought this car yesterday and love it! I've doing this since the 80's and it's the most fun per dollar I've experienced. Got an ARRMA Senton last week and blew out the bushing in the stock motor which led to the whole rotor/pinion gear shifting away from the spur gear, trashing it. The steering servo went completely haywire. The bumper broke. Not impressed with its quality. It's too slow stock to be breaking like it did. The Bandit is well worth it's price.

    • @10thScaleGarage
      @10thScaleGarage  4 года назад +2

      Nice! Yeah, we were impressed with it’s brushed performance right out of the box. Sorry to hear about your senton! I bought a used senton on EBay and threw a brushless system in it for like $60. Arrma servos are definitely not my favorite, but I found some cheap upgrades that are around $18 that are awesome. I use them in a lot of my vehicles.

    • @bhosterman
      @bhosterman 4 года назад +4

      I have to retract my previous statement about the arrma senton. Aside from the electronics, the truck is very rugged. I replaced everything but the receiver, upgraded it to brushless and it’s been a blast. The bandit’s tires are it’s weakness. If you do any driving on the pavement, you will wear the numbs off in no time and then it’s like driving on ice after that. Still a good value but beware, stick to off road or get street tires for it.

I had the neighbors enjoying it running up and down the street. I thought I would get laughed out of town, went to Traxxas site, the new Rustler is the very same layout, dimples, frame, screws in all in the same place 20 years later. A complete list of all parts still on Traxxas site. Just look up the model number of yours it's there ! How many other brands would offer that info. I love your videos man, entertaining and simple, a lot of big name RUclipsrs do extreme things with their RCs but I like videos of people just having fun with their RCs. I have an X-Maxx but I never run it, it's too big and and needs too much room to run, the smaller 1/10th trucks are easier and more fun.
    I got my first RC 15 years ago, it was a Stampede, I beat that thing to death and loved every minute of it. The Stampede with the XL-5 has perfect power, going brushless will give it more speed but it's too uncontrollable, wheelies/rolls over nonstop, I leave my brushless Stampede on training mode and I think it's perfect that way.
    I just bought a Bandit this summer and turned it into a Monster Bandit VXL with widened a-arms all around and big wheels/tires, it's great. It's got the good looks of the Bandit, handles like a Rustler, can go off road like a Stampede, and has brushless power with a chassis that can handle it.

    First time on the channel good job. I used to race RC 10s back in the late 80s early 90s. Being that it is very hard to get parts for the best stadium trucks and buggies ever made "in my own opinion" I retired them in 2014 and purchased a Traxxas Monster Mutt on the Stampede chassis I purchased the full bearing kit metal turn buckles metal rear axles and a good set of Grippy high speed tires. I have been beating on this thing since I purchased it . It is worth every penny currently running a 3 cell 4000 lipo it gets her going. I purchased a TRX-4 Blazer over a year ago and Have well into $700 into that. After being an RC enthusiast For well over 30 years I would have to say Traxxas makes a fantastic easy 2 rebuild great to use RC car. The times sure have changed when you would have to purchase everything separately kit, remote, speed control, charger, battery and motor and spend 10 hours building it. $450 plus in 91' now you can buy something that almost keeps pace for $200 assembled!

    Hey there, I got the wltoys 14401 a coupla’ three months ago and love it! What are your thoughts? I was thinking on stepping into the traxxas water with the bandit as being 2 wheel drive it looks like it may handle some hi speed steering better than 4 wheel drive at least on pavement. With the wl you have to let off the throttle to start getting over steer and then pin it to kick the back end around as the 4wd wants to push you through a hi speed corner. I am more or less new to the game as when I was younger in the late 80’s early 90’s these things seemed so flipping expensive. Don’t get me wrong you can still go out and pay a fortune it just seems like you get so much more bang for the buck.

    • @10thScaleGarage
      @10thScaleGarage  4 года назад

      I don’t have the 14401, but I have friends with them and they all love them. If you have a 4WD vehicle with an open diff, it shouldn’t effect the steering that much, as it allows the front wheels to turn at different rates. That being said, however, it is true that without front driveshafts, you can definitely get more steering angle. Understeer and over steer have a lot to do with chassis, as well. RWD chassis have most of the weight in the back giving you lift off oversteer, meaning that under power, you get oversteer, but if you let off the throttle, it understeers. The bandit has a huge aftermarket so the possibilities are pretty much endless. I totally recommend the bandit/ rustler. Great value for money.

    I've been wanting to get the Bandit for quite some time and always end up buying something else. I've got monster trucks, buggies, trophy trucks, boats, and even planes. Everything from 1/10 scale up to a 1/6 scale. 11 total. The closest thing I've currently have to the Traxxas bandit is twice the price. Losi DB Pro. I don't have anything 2wd in my collection. One day I will buy a Bandit and the Traxxas Rally, but before them I'm getting the Losi 5ive T and a ProBoat Sonicwake. Those are high priority RCs. Then after that I'll probably be looking for a cheap RC like in the $200 range. I bought my brother a Stampede 4x4 a few years ago. Started off brushed. Now it's brushless with a 3300 kv motor and a 14 tooth pinion. It is very fast. It's probably a $2000 RC currently with all the aftermarket parts on it. It's so fast that he couldn't keep regular tires on it and had to get some belted Trenchers. The hex adapter they came with spun and stripped out in seconds and had to order the aluminum upgraded adapters. It is now to the point were literally the only thing that breaks is the motor shaft. My brother has a very hard time keeping the front wheels on the ground, but will keep up with my UDR on about half throttle. I run my UDR on only 6s to give you an idea. His Stampede is still stock ride height but the body has been lowered an inch closing the gap between the body and the chassis. After the build was nearly done, took it out for it's maiden run and literally sheered 3 of the 4 metal axles. Two at the stub ends and one at the slide pin. Swapped over to MIP and he's even broke a few of those. Tried many axles in it and it's popped them all. The original plastic ones lasted about 30 minutes on less than a quarter throttle until he gave if full trigger. I have never seen all 4 axles completely explode into thousands of pieces till his Stampede. The Stampede was just a rediculous build. He doesn't drive it that much anymore as I bought him a few RCs that actually keep the wheels on the ground. I'm currently also working on an insane build myself. A Losi Super Baja Rey with a R-SNAKE ESC and a TP Power motor. The SBR might be the first video of any of my RCs that I post on RUclips when it's done. Anyways, I got way off tangent. The Stampede, Bandit, Rustler, Slash are all great RCs for the price.

    • @10thScaleGarage
      @10thScaleGarage  4 года назад +1

      Dang! Sounds like you found the limit of the stampede chassis. Good call on the sonic wake. That about the only ProBoat I don’t own. Haha. Anyway, yeah, we had a blast that day and love the cheap Traxxas vehicles, although the UDR is by far and away one of my favorite RCs. I hope you get your 5T bro. Those things are crazy cool. I’d love to have one someday.

    • @SebastianLong
      @SebastianLong 4 года назад

      @@10thScaleGarage You've got a UDR? I'll be ordering the 5T in August when they become available. The UDR is one of my top three that I drive nearly everyday. The other two are my TRX4 Bronco and my Losi LST 3XLE. I'm starting to drive my Super Rock Rey a lot more but I need more batteries for it. Runs on two 4s packs. I would like to have 3 sets if not more, but currently only have 1 set for it. I've only got 14 lipo batteries so far and 4 Nihm for my Summit. My Summit is an older model that doesn't have LVC. I'm going to be putting a Mamba Monster 2 in it when I stop procrastinating. Lol. It's just I haven't used it in at least 6 months and am not really in to big of a hurry. I've already got the ESC/Motor combo, just have to solder on a plug and install it. My soldering skills aren't that great, but am improving. That's part of what is holding me back. The other thing is figuring out what plug I want to run on it. Traxxas plugs are a major pain in the ass to solder and I'm leaning more towards XT90 or EC5. I've got mostly EC5 plug RCs and no XT90. Either way I go I will have to buy batteries for it to keep from running the Traxxas plug. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with Traxxas plugs, but for someone who has very little soldering talent, they are too much of a pain to deal with. If you don't know anything about the E-Revo or the Summit (pretty much the same thing) the battery trays are small and really doesn't leave you many options. That's why I'm thrown for a loop as to which plug to run.

    • @10thScaleGarage
      @10thScaleGarage  4 года назад

      Yeah! I love my UDR. Probably one of my fastest off-road vehicles. I’ve always liked the summit. I’ve never driven one but they seem like a pretty fun rig that can handle pretty much anything. You’re totally right about the Traxxas connectors though. I just use heavy duty adapters. I even use them in my Traxxas boats that pull major current and only had one failure out of dozens and dozens of runs. I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not great at soldering, and I’d rather NOT chop my factory connectors and void the warranty if at all possible.

      @@10thScaleGarage I find it amusing what you said about the warranty thing. I don't want to void my warranty either, but have literally only used my warranty once. Otherwise I buy aftermarket. Lol. Like I could honestly cut off the connectors and not think twice about it, but in the back of my mind it's always "but what if". Lmao. I did use the warranty once on my UDR as the ESC burned out but they sent me a ESC from an E-Revo. How I know is it doesn't have the 4s connector plug like the original does. I'm not sure if you know what I mean, but if you look at the two connectors, one is for a 4s pack and one for a 3s. The 4s plug is for the single battery running as I'm sure you know of. Does anyone run theirs on 4s anyways? Lol. Either way, the point is I don't think the amperage of the E-Revo is as high as the one found in a stock UDR. Doesn't matter anyways as eventually I'm going to put a Hobbywing Max6 in it. I've already got a 2000 kv TP Power motor ready to go in it. Will more than likely put EC5 plugs on the Max6 and run more Admiral Carbons as I had got for my brother. They work amazing with plenty of power on tap. They are very good quality compared to other brands I run.

      Lane Waite I run my UDR on 4S quite a bit. I take it out after it rains and slide it around and pretend I’m Ken Block. Haha. It’s great. It can run it for like 30 mins almost wide open and it doesn’t even break a sweat.

    New sub, did you really have 200 subs in April this year? I liked your content. I used to have a Revo I think, in 1999. I been flying fpv for a couple years. I need to start putting some time in mine.

      Yup. I had less than 1000 subs just over a month ago. Pretty crazy. I’d like to get into FPV.

      @@10thScaleGarage very cool! I've had trucks, flown planes Los, but nothing compares to fpv, it's been a blast almost since the beginning. It's kinda hard to learn, but once you got it, there's nothing like it.
