@Fuzzy Dunlop honestly as much as I like camel, he gets a lotttt of things wrong. Multiple discrepancies were pointed out in this video alone, but many times references he makes to smth like norse mythos are just mistaken

3:00 Barbas actually appears in the redguard game and he likes cyrus and shapeshifts his face to imitate him xD Calvicus also constantly plays with a yo-yo... dorky guy indeed.
One of my top reasons for Oblivion being my favourite game ever is that no matter how many times I play it, or how many hours I spend exploring, I am still finding new places and hidden items after ten years. Watching this video showed even more things I've never seen and now I want to start my 6th playthrough...
In Redguard, you go to Clavicus Vile's realm. Cyrus meets Barbas and Barbas ends up shape shifting to look like Cyrus because he likes him. I'm guessing that's what the 'I was a Redguard' line was referring to.
Even after putting in over 3000 hours into this game, at least 65% of these easter eggs are new to me! Fuck what any of the hardcore complainers say, Bethesda are the masters of RPG open world gaming!
It's also true that what makes a masterpiece is pretty much _subjective_ due to the opinions from an ever fluctuating majority in it's own time, just as _my own opinion_ is, and is pretty much unquantifiable as pure fact, but then again, most facts will change in time...It's a fact xD Cheers!
Never knew about the Jiub one, I always just assumed that they tacked on the Kvatch backstory to add a reason for him to be in the Soul Cairn. Absolutely nothing you say can convince me to find all his pages though
Just follow the guide on the wiki. If you know where the big wall you have to go through is, and where Valerica is, its pretty easy. Just time consuming. Helps if you get Arvak beforehand.
The reward for finding all ten pages is one of, if not the most beneficial, amulets in the entire game. With the walkthrough on the Skyrim wiki finding all ten pages will probably only take you about twenty to thirty minutes, less if you use Arvak and he's along the way.
@@rakkatytam Also, the name originally comes from the film "Son of Dracula" where Dracula himself pretends to be his son and uses the name Alucard. The Castlevania one is far cooler though.
Fun fact: Blue Suede Shoes was actually written and recorded by Rockabilly icon, Carl Perkins, which earned him a gold record for the song. Elvis was later falsely, and more widely, recognized as the writer of the song when he performed the song live, and then recorded and released a cover of the song on his first record.
42:28 "... *continent* of Cyrodiil." The writers must've goofed this line. Cyrodiil is a province which is part of the continent of Tamriel. You'd think Jiub would know this, being a native of Morrowind... another constituent province of Tamriel :P
@@konstantinub It still doesn't make sense. He's referring to Cyrodiil as a continent( "...the *continent* of Cyrodiil). This is like someone saying "I moved from my Ancestral home in New York to the continent of California." while both New York and California are part of the same continent. Not to mention the fact that he never mentioned Vvardenfell being his ancestral home. Morrowind is larger than just the island of Vvardenfell, it's possible his family home was on the mainland. Plus, even if his family *was* from Vvardenfell, it's still part of the continent regardless. That'd be like saying Alcatraz Island isn't part of North America. Basically, the writers flubbed the line.
@@henrymarckisotto9025 Since Lucien Lachance informs the Player Character that he/she had been eliminating members of the Black Hand during this part of the Dark Brotherhood Questline....yes, I can see the, burying their kin.
It's actually an interesting detail. It implies that there may have been another, unmentioned member of the family. Obviously it was just a developer oversight, but still interesting to think about.
I barely saw that Anakin easter egg in the lava a few months ago. Had a huge feeling that’s what it referenced haha. Thank you for this! Oblivion is the greatest game of all time.
"... The Silmarillion, which by the way, is such an easy read..." Ah, i see you read it as well. I watch these and you point out references from stuff I've vaguely heard of. Was not expecting one day to have properly read and understood one. Redwall is fun.
15:00 that easter egg, the Grey Fox and a couple of other things are refered by Sheogorath in Skyrim, hinting on that he's in fact the Hero of Kvatch :D
Yup, I think Wes Johnson (Sheo's voice actor in both games) even confirmed somewhere that Sheogorath in Skyrim is in fact your dude from Oblivion. Personally, I thought the ending to the Shivering Isles made it quite clear that it had to be, but I guess some people still dispute that. lol
Ozymandias916 I just thought that me being the god of madness was just temporal, until Sheo get's better and returns. Apparently he didn't by the time of Skyrim :) (Or he consumed hero of kvatch's soul or something)
BlueShit199 Nope, in the Shivering Isles they expressly tell you that you are the new Sheogorath, permanently, since you were the first to successfully stop the Greymarch and finally allow the old Sheogorath to break the curse placed on him by the other Daedric princes and return to his original form as Jyggalag.
@@Kingsc84 except who the fuck is perkins yet everyone knows elvis, hence why its famous as that is the definition of famous, and thats why its in the game
I agree with M'aiq. I'm glad they introduced fast travel and the quest marker/compass. It was a smart move from a business perspective. Changed E.S. from niche market to mass market. These games are huge. Most people don't have the time or interest in wandering around for hours upon hours searching.

Hellspawn, it is referring to the sequel of the classic 1930s Dracula movie by Universal Studios; The Son of Dracula. Since that movie, several other works, such as Castlevania, have also used the name Alucard for Dracula's son.
Some other things as well: The oblivion gate itself = Eye of Sauron Modryn Oreyn gives you the helmet at the end of FG quest line which is reference to certain Morrowind quest Also, I guess in norwegian Jak ben imbel means I am nimble Then name of the ransacked city Kvatch means actually humbug in german. So "for humbug!"
@@samppakoivula9977 i know this comment was like a whole year ago, but if you say "jak ben imbel" fast it sounds like "jack be nimble" so it's probably a reference to "jack be nimble, jack be quick, jack jump over the candlestick" which makes sense with springheel jak
I thought it could’ve been the 3 shards from a Jim Henson movie called the Dark crystal in a scene where Jen has to figure out which shard would fit in the dark crystal, he limits the crystal down to 3 and these 3 crystals have somewhat similar shape but it is just my guess
"Blue Suede Shoes" was not written by Elvis but Carl Perkins, who also recorded at Sun Studio in Memphis, Tennessee. Perkins and Elvis can be seen in the Million Dollar Quartet photo taken at Sun Studios in the 50's along with Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis. Elvis was not a songwriter, only a singer. He did not even really play the guitar, but they often strapped on him during TV appearances to limit his pelvic gyrations.
This made me want to play oblivion again, i just loved roaming around finding hidden treasures and stories that the devs made for us :/ i miss those times.
ACTUALLY, I kinda always thought the Countess who tortures people was in reference to the Blood Countess, Elizabeth Bathory, who tortured young female servants and villagers along with her husband, similarly to the Countess in-game. Two torturous countesses with complacent/accomplice(?) husbands. Interesting.... Great video man, I know it's an old one but a good one!
Referring to my previous comment "That's not Jiub. The head only has pointed ears in your game because it's modded and the mods must have added the ear textures. In vanilla Oblivion, that head is just a replica of every other head like that in the game (usually found on spikes)."
@@JoshEvansHeavens it isnt jiub because the same head can be found in other caves from what i remember, i think you can also find it deeper in the castle
as others have pointed out, in vanilla oblivion that head can be encountered in various locations, and doesn't have the pointy ears so that guy in Kvatch is not Jiub
When translated from daedric to english alphabet, the text in the "bible of the deep ones" is very similar to the text in "N'gasta! Kvakis!" which may indicate that the deep ones may indeed be sload. What they'd be doing so far inland and underground I don't know!
3:00 Well, you're _almost_ right. In the Game Cyrus travels to the Realm of Clavicus Vile and has a talk with him. Barbas, of course, is also there and being a shapeshifter and all, he continually, well, shifts his shape and at some point he shapeshifts his Face into Cyrus' face. That's what Barbas probably meant.
Obviously u haven't played Redguard, in one of the last quests, Cyrus goes to one of Clavicus Vile's realms and bartens with him for his sister's soul, during such interaction, Barbas was barking next to Clavicus Vile. So Barbas can't be Cyrus
Either I missed this one or you didn't mention it. In the Shivering Isles you can find a chest called "The Dark Chest of Wonders" and inside is the "ring of the oceanborn" both are references to the band NIghtwish
Actually the one who assassinated Franz was a dude named Gavrilo Principe who was a member of Young Bosnia. Young Bosnia was under the Black Hands possession but it is unknown if they planned what Gavrilo did.
3 soul gems = reference to the 3 false gods from morrowind. Vivec, Almalexia, Sotha Sil. Which in game you can kill Vivec and Almalexia and you can soultrap them to a grand soul gem or better for a unique soulgem which gave items a constant effect and since its a unique npc you only get that certain soul that one time in game. This is just a theory tho :D
Big ups for the Jiub find. That's some pretty substantive stuff you pieced together. Wonder what came first, the head simply looking like Jiubs and then a member of the Dev team thought to elaborate on it, or them wanting to always place Jiub in Kvatch. I'd love to bring it up to someone from Bethesda that's not an asshole.
I think you forgot about Rosethorn Hall in Skingrad, where you can find a forgotten note upstairs above a writing desk on top of a loft. The note tells of a treasure and you must solve a riddle to find it. The riddle itself is an allusion to Arena, where the riddle was also "Two bodies have I, though both joined in one. The more I stand still, the quicker I run." and the answer was also "hourglass". In the basement is an hourglass lodged in a support beam, which contains some gems and a unique ring. There's also the unlisted quest for the ring of keys during the quest Lifting the Vale. During the quest, you will go through the Serpent's Trail to Pale Pass and follow the path to the ruined fort. From there, you must find four containers. The last of which contains the reward. The containers are as follows.Frozen Barrel - East of the ruined fort in a circle of ice (ESE of the entrance to Mouth of the Serpent). It contains a rusty key and a crumpled note. Rusty Chest - Inside the most western tower, next to the tower with the entrance to Fort Pale Pass. Search carefully to find this chest, as it is hidden by grass and partly buried into ground. Look along the inner walls of the tower to find it. This chest contains an old key. Old Chest - Located southeast of the entrance to Mouth of the Serpent. Follow the path south, back towards the Serpent's Trail, past the statues on either side and you will reach a fallen column. Travel in the direction pointed by the column and jump onto the rock at the base of the curved wall you find. The chest is just to the south and contains a forgotten key. Forgotten Chest - Southwest of the door from the Serpent's Trail through which you first entered Pale Pass. From the door go southwest up the hill (to the right if you are facing the door), sticking to the natural rock wall that forms the outer edge of the valley. Keep following it as it curves east, then south, then back west, and you will come to a large rock with a tree beside it. On the far side of the rock, you'll find the chest. In it, you will find the Circlet of Omnipotence. There's also the unique leather bracers called the Bands of Kwang Lao, a possible reference to Kung Lao from Mortal Kombat. It's located in a locked chest belonging to Branwen and Saliith, outside the Arena. The bracers fortify unarmed by 20. Furthermore, a crumpled note can be found next to Owyn, in the Bloodworks, which is from Branwen and reveals that she is his daughter. The last one that I know of is the extra pieces of Brusef Amelion's armor. I'm not sure if this counts, but during the Fighter's Guild quest, Amelion's Debt, you get the option of retrieving the sword and armor of Biene Amelion's grandfather. Although the quest only requires the sword and cuirass, you can find the complete set hidden carefully throughout the rest of the tomb. The set looks very interesting and is light armor, despite looking like a silver reskin of ebony armor. Not to mention the extra pieces are unenchanted, so you can customize them as you please.
+ArvelDreth He also missed the child overalls, Shady Sam (pre-Vile Lair), the skooma merchant in Bravil, the burnt down shop being rebuilt in Imperial City Market, the creation of a specific lich, and much more. I'm super surprised he didn't include the child skeleton.
Chilling Villain I actually forgot about all those, although I fail to remember specifically what you are referring to when you say child skeleton. I remember there being child skeletons in the Night Mother's tomb, but I don't remember there being a single child skeleton.
ArvelDreth In a dungeon there is a coffin w/ a misc item called "Child Overalls" on a skeleton the size of a skeleton, refernencing the fact they diliberately left out children in the game
The Soulgems in Leyawin at 40:50 are not meant to represent soulgems, you've completely missed the nearby Khajit character who has a questline for collecting crystals. those stones are meant to represent his crystal collection.
Just a layman here. Why exactly is it a reference to Splinter Cell? I'm just curious and having never really played Splinter Cell, am struggling to find information.
@@facejobby Oh man it was so long ago even I can't remember now. I would pay any amount of money to see Bethesda remaster oblivion to make it look as crsip as skyrim. Skyrim is so ugly and gray. I couldn't imagine how beautiful oblivion would look.
Space Bound I honestly imagine it would sell pretty well given the skyrim hype. But I guess so much goes into remastering, at that point it would be like making an entirely new game I suppose. (I have no clue how that shit works, and I'm too lazy to google)
Thewifeswapped take a look at the skyblivion project. a massive team of modders have been working on a project to redo oblivion. it's pretty far along, take a look sometime
3:07 apparently in Redguard, Barbas took so much liking with Cyrus, at one point, he actually mimicked Cyrus´s face, so technically it/he was a Redguard as well. :,D

Nice bit of nostalgia watching this is 2020. I remember watching this when it came out. I managed to get most of them right when I watched today. Edit: The troll and the bodyguard storylines are among the most sad and macabre I've heard in a game.
The Dwemer were frequently communing with Daedra in order to advance their mathematical and scientific knowledge, and the meaning of the name Dwemer means "The Deep Ones" in both Ayleidoon and Altadoon. Ergo, the residents of Hackdirt are communicating with the vanished Daedra in Oblivion, where they will never age and never die.
This is the most entertaining Oblivion related video I've ever got the pleasure to watch. I'm showing this to my Oblivion hungry friends they'll love it

can you do a Fallout 4 easter egg video?
+Camelworks Finally! Amazing vid as always :)
+Camelworks I find all ur stuff funny just that one got me good
Just hit me how much I loved Oblivion
Why the past tense?
One of my top reasons for Oblivion being my favourite game ever is that no matter how many times I play it, or how many hours I spend exploring, I am still finding new places and hidden items after ten years. Watching this video showed even more things I've never seen and now I want to start my 6th playthrough...
You should try skyrim if you haven’t yet
In Redguard, you go to Clavicus Vile's realm. Cyrus meets Barbas and Barbas ends up shape shifting to look like Cyrus because he likes him. I'm guessing that's what the 'I was a Redguard' line was referring to.
Even after putting in over 3000 hours into this game, at least 65% of these easter eggs are new to me!
Fuck what any of the hardcore complainers say, Bethesda are the masters of RPG open world gaming!
I think 3000 is a little too much
You don't mod/play mods much do you?
well, throwing in a bunch of easter eggs doesn't make a masterpiece out of a game. it's a fun thing, though - no doubts about it.
It's also true that what makes a masterpiece is pretty much _subjective_ due to the opinions from an ever fluctuating majority in it's own time, just as _my own opinion_ is, and is pretty much unquantifiable as pure fact, but then again, most facts will change in time...It's a fact xD
Cheers!
Been playing oblivion for 10 years or so lol
Never knew about the Jiub one, I always just assumed that they tacked on the Kvatch backstory to add a reason for him to be in the Soul Cairn. Absolutely nothing you say can convince me to find all his pages though
my horse got warped in somehow, so it wasn't that bad for me
Just follow the guide on the wiki.

42:28 "... *continent* of Cyrodiil."
The writers must've goofed this line. Cyrodiil is a province which is part of the continent of Tamriel. You'd think Jiub would know this, being a native of Morrowind... another constituent province of Tamriel :P
Since Vvardenfell is an island, I can see how it would make sense that he would refer to the continental part as “the continent”.
Or he just said the wrong word.

15:00 that easter egg, the Grey Fox and a couple of other things are refered by Sheogorath in Skyrim, hinting on that he's in fact the Hero of Kvatch :D
or just your character
James Kelly Hero of Kvatch is the player chracter from Oblivion
Yup, I think Wes Johnson (Sheo's voice actor in both games) even confirmed somewhere that Sheogorath in Skyrim is in fact your dude from Oblivion. Personally, I thought the ending to the Shivering Isles made it quite clear that it had to be, but I guess some people still dispute that. lol
Ozymandias916 I just thought that me being the god of madness was just temporal, until Sheo get's better and returns. Apparently he didn't by the time of Skyrim :) (Or he consumed hero of kvatch's soul or something)
BlueShit199
Nope, in the Shivering Isles they expressly tell you that you are the new Sheogorath, permanently, since you were the first to successfully stop the Greymarch and finally allow the old Sheogorath to break the curse placed on him by the other Daedric princes and return to his original form as Jyggalag.
I played Oblivion 3 times, but I never ever knew about Jiub's severed head in Kvatch.

Well his point of not understanding their presence is quite a dumb one. S’Drassa collects crystals. They are just part of his collection.
The "Look how good my painting" Easter egg is always my favorite
This made me want to play oblivion again, i just loved roaming around finding hidden treasures and stories that the devs made for us :/ i miss those times.
ACTUALLY, I kinda always thought the Countess who tortures people was in reference to the Blood Countess, Elizabeth Bathory, who tortured young female servants and villagers along with her husband, similarly to the Countess in-game. Two torturous countesses with complacent/accomplice(?) husbands. Interesting.... Great video man, I know it's an old one but a good one!
I found Jiub's head the first time I played Oblivion back in '06. Never realised that was him until now.
It's not him
Renato Laranja how so
Referring to my previous comment "That's not Jiub.

*pushes up glasses* Well... *Proceeds to go on about some obscure lore aspect no one gives a fuck about*
Wow. What would we do without you man
@@caesarion4596 I just wanted to correct a misbelief. Theorizing that Cyrus was actually Barbas in Redguard is just wrong and wouldn't make sense.
To be fair, maybe there is an alternate storyline where Barbas took Cyrus's place in the game. If you lose Vile's game and all that, you know?
you missed the Band's of Kwang Lao, it fortifies hand to hand 20 points. it is clearly a mortal combat reference easter egg to Kung Lao.

3 soul gems = reference to the 3 false gods from morrowind. Vivec, Almalexia, Sotha Sil.
Follow the path south, back towards the Serpent's Trail,
past the statues on either side and you will reach a fallen column.

The Soulgems in Leyawin at 40:50 are not meant to represent soulgems, you've completely missed the nearby Khajit character who has a questline for collecting crystals. those stones are meant to represent his crystal collection.
14:30 - Fin Gleem is a reference to Splinter Cell and Sam Fischer (fisher). It's meant to be like his night vision goggles.
Just a layman here. Why exactly is it a reference to Splinter Cell? I'm just curious and having never really played Splinter Cell, am struggling to find information.
