All the Overseers have their own instruments to represent them, like the Queen of Winds having wind instruments and Queen Order having percussion, and here I am nearly two years after playing this game for the first time realizing the Heart King has violins as a play on the term *HEARTSTRINGS*
putting that moment of no return for redheart in the fight against the king of hearts to show she was the beast at ichor mountain is just [chef's kiss]
The leitmotif included makes it so f*cking sad when you remember what the heart fairy said
:(
It felt so disgusting working together with her... knowing she would do exactly as she did.
Bard “Promise you won’t kill the King of Hearts!”
Audrey “Fine! I promise I won’t kill it!”
Me (squints at Switch) “...you fuckn liar.”
Audrey (kills King of Hearts)
Me “fuckn knew it.”

@@crowsenpai5625 That is exactly how I felt hmflcughhlcmqlgmv!!!
To think, Kiwi was so close to doing what was thought impossible, even by Eyala, here...they very nearly *reharmonized* an Overseer. *Uncorrupted* one. This is explicitly stated to be impossible earlier on in the game, that there was 'no way to fix them once they get like that', and yet, here Kiwi was...so, so, SO close to achieving the impossible. Only for all that effort to be thrown away.
I know right! We could’ve gotten to get more info on how corruption works too, possibly by hearing from the King of Hearts about what it was like. Do they actually lose all conscious thought, or are they trapped in there while a separate beast consciousness takes over? Or maybe does everything go black, and everything from then on can’t be remembered? It’s such an interesting concept, and kinda sad to see the opportunity to reveal some interesting lore just thrown away for story reasons.
@@Mzoyagon
I think it helps emphasize the moment in the story! Not only do the characters lose a valuable opportunity, but you, the player, lose the chance to learn and experience something new.
It helps to drive home that feeling of frustration the story is trying to showcase. Audrey fucked up so badly that even you, the audience, felt the ramifications of it directly.
@@NoobOfLore plus kiwi hides all negative emotions for the sake of everyone else but Audrey fucked up so bad that the positivity was thrown out the window and was replaced by anger and rage
the visual of the bard singing in this video shows that he can sing every string instrument and more
that's how you get the earthsong, having an orchestra in your lungs
@@tapityegg [screams in drums]
Hearing the "I want to be the Hero" theme gave me chills when playing this. It reminded me that these two characters were fighting for the same thing but still at odds. So epic.
*when you start to trust Audrey but then disaster strikes*
The violin is on point tho-
Some of that background beat at the start sounds like a heartbeat. If that was intentional, that's *genius*
If you listen closely, you can hear Aubrey’s rock instruments take over the king of hearts, string instruments throughout the song
That one dislike is from Audrey
Or maybe they're still rightfully upset with what Audrey did
Now there’s 3 dislikes. At this point, Audrey is just creating more alt accounts...
GUYS I had an epiphany while listening to this song and thinking about the sound effects that go with the boss's attacks: it's low notes and deep techno *because you're fighting a subWOOFER*
Pffft
Genius XD
i want to inject this song into my veins
Same
Couldn’t have said it better myself
love how a guitar powerchord plays with every note you sing
Alternate Universe Comment:
I like how they made the Bard look like he controls exactly as they did during the secret level, it's a subtle touch but it works well. But man, doing this part of the All Achievements/Maximum Bard route always sucks the most, because of the cutscene at the end. They're a precious bean and it sucks you have to do them dirty like that.
yeah
I think this is becoming my favorite song in the game. I've been listening to it practically nonstop all weekend. I love all the rapid changes in intensity and instruments, the blending of styles, and just the general epicness of the whole. It really is a theme worthy of a boss fight. And I love how you slipped the hero theme in at the end for that extra emotional punch.
tfw no one notices the heart fairy motif
I noticed it! I just didn't comment on it.
bowling its the best part
KIWI STOP DANCING THIS IS SERIOUS.
I can hear the Heart Fairy's leitmotif and a bit of "I wanna be a hero"
It made me feel that "op pet/item" you get in some games that actually carries you everything.
The King of Hearts meets the Ace of Swords.
also the joker of song and the ace of jerks (aubrey)
Damn... I love this song so much...
*Spoilers*
I hated it when Audrey killed the King of Hearts. I mean, I saw it coming. But STILL. I already feel pretty awful for the King of Hearts. I mean, I know all of the overseers grow corrupt, but damn... I just felt awful for the King of Hearts in particular. I feel pretty bad for the others too. I hated it when the Queen of the Winds died too. It was also kinda sad when the sun and moon overseers ended up killing each other. I just feel really bad for the overseers for some reason...
its even sadder when you realize they most likely lack ghosts and are just erased because the overseers are pure song meaning they are pure magic and most likely dont leave ghosts when they die
@@larsthememelord3383 That is sad... I love ya Audrey, but yeah. It’s a sad idea that those overseers likely don’t leave any ghosts behind because honestly, they already kinda are like spirits to begin with. The Dream King was speaking in the spirit language at first like the ghosts in Langtree. Jeez. Overseers are really interesting. It still makes me sad that it looked like the Bard was going to be able to reason with the King of Hearts and before he could say anything, Audrey killed him. I remember just swearing at my screen when that happened.
@@conceptualoblivion2569 All the overseers always talk in the spirit language! You can tell cause their speech bubbles have floating symbols in them. Although they don't have ghosts, they do leave behind their part of the earthsong, so I guess they all become part of the bard and then part of the world again once the not-earthsong is sung? I'm not sure, but it could be nice to believe they still exist. At the very least, the new overseers will all remember their own overseers till the world ends again (and a new cycle will continue! Probably)
You know, this ost is really great. You hear the guitar parts, which only Audrey so far had. The thumping during the quiter parts like that of a beating heart, a mix of fight and saving, of seperation and determination. It really is quite something
Okay imma leave a second comment here, but FGHJGGGHJJFDG I think this is one of my favorite tracks. But honestly, it’s hard to compare the songs in this ost because they’re just all so good. Just, the intensity of this song and the mix of the violins and guitars makes it sound so magical. Like, in a lot of Audrey’s themes you can hear the electric guitar playing in the bg and it just displays her personality there. The synths are like the corruption of the king of hearts and some of the other sounds. The violin is probably my favorite because it just makes it sound like a really intense battle like: this is it, if she kills this overseer, only one other overseer remains and once the dream kings dead, the world ends. The ending is so damn good too
Sorry if I made no sense, but EYA ALMIGHTY. I love this song.
This song just takes my tiny little heart and chucks it to the floor, proceeding to mush it under it’s heeeeeel.
Epic as hecc, the bork score at the end is also appreciated
hearing the melody for the heart fairys song here makes me sad :(
OMG I love the violins in this one. It just makes the whole thing sound so tragic (Which it is, which is why is why it's perfect)
the Doggo King
I've been listening to this for 2 days, send help.
It been a year
@@idfk1012 correct
I’ve been listening to this at least every day a few times for a week. I’ve uh... been really obsessed with this song in particular
@@conceptualoblivion2569 genuinely its a fun song to refind, i fucking love violins so stuff like Yoko Shimomura's work is fucking great (composer of KH and some square enix games!)
@@Houndfluff yeah the violins in this are great. I also love the synths and guitars in this too. The ending of this song is just... too good. It’s just got a spooky vibe to it and I may or may not be obsessed
0:00 pre-fight
0:32 fight starts - phase 1
1:59 phase 2
(phase 3 is skipped in this version)
3:19 phase 4
>kinda want an in-game version for all the phases
5:48 i think its for when you are singing at the king of hearts?
the in game version of the song is surprisingly different
You were talking about how the in-game version of this song is surprisingly different, and I've noticed that same thing about Nightmare King. I think the in-game version of Nightmare King is a bit better than the playlist version (although they're both incredible, obviously).
Ah, the suicide king
Amazing job on Wandersong! You truly gave the game an amazing feel to it ❤️
i hear a bit of Heart Fairy in the song, same goes with Audrey’s song
Alright,
SPOILERS
We all knew Audrey’s betrayal was coming, but god damn if it didn’t make me want to commit mass arson. She’s such a great foil to the Bard, it’s insane.
I agree with the wanting to commit mass arson
Loved this part of Sword and Shield ... 🐺
Confusion
Nah, this couldn't be from SwSh. Wandersong actually has _quality_ and _care_ put into its development.

Ehhh??
Wow this song really...
TUGS AT THE HEARTSTRINGS!!!!
AM I RIGHT GUYS??!?!

how DARE YOU
Sometimes we think of things, and most of the time, we don't say them due to the fact that they are horribly cursed.
“Eyyyyyyyyyyy *points Lightning Sword at you* GET OUT”

No, it isn't the final boss!

VIOLINS ?
The first half of act 6 (besides "bugs!") was not good imo. It all just felt bad to play compared to the rest of the game and I can't quite put my finger on why.
Probably cus Miriam wasn't there and so there wasn't much chatter and quirk to the gameplay. But I guess thats the point, that the bard misses her but has to go on. However wrong it feels.
