This is one of the best parts of the 100% path: the climactic final fight. Unlike any other path, you fight not only a super-powered Overseer, but also the Bard and Miriam. And holy shit is it tough. God, it almost feels like the Bard is another player, with that brutal AI and how he adheres to game mechanics so closely. It's like the King of Hearts battle all over again in that regard. Though I'm like 95% sure it's scripted so you always barely lose. Not that it matters, cause our "hero" Audrey always pulls through at the end; dying won't save you, because Audrey will just get back up in a delightfully painful inversion of that thing Undertale does during the Hyperdeath fight. This _is_ the closest you can get to a bad ending, though. Kinda funny how this is one of the few games where you'd _want_ an ending where the protagonist loses.

i just realized that the dream king being the final overseer we deal with represents our hope to save the world, and how that hope is almost corrupted/lost but we try to rekindle it.

That's how I interpreted it too, and I interpreted his behavior as the corruption of his domain. Hope turned to hopelessness; the Dream King has given up. He's depressed and sleeping a lot and evading the inevitable for as much as he acknowledges it IS inevitable. I think he shows the most clearly how the Overseers become the antithesis of themselves.

Dream King is such a cool character. His theme complements his presence so well.
I think the progression of the things the overseers oversee is very interesting.
You first encounter the king of dreams, but let's disregard him for now.
You then encounter the queen of winds, and wind is something that is relatively easy to understand the nature of.
You then encounter the rulers of chaos and order, which are concepts rather than physical objects (like wind). Thus, they are perhaps open to philosophical debate.
Next up are the overseers of the sun and moon, objects that are much more difficult to understand than wind.
After this comes the king of hearts. Assuming hearts refer to love, love is a concept that seems to be much more complex than physical objects (like wind and cosmic bodies) and chaos vs. order.
Then comes the dream king. However, the first time you meet him, it is simply an introduction. Here, you are fighting for his life. Hence, it makes sense that his position in the order of magnitude of what the overseers oversee should be here at the end. Dreams are things that are not fully understood yet (to my knowledge), which make them harder to grasp than love, chaos/order, wind, and even cosmic bodies.
I could be completely wrong, but I found this interesting at the least.

Also, now he is a nightmare king instead of the aforementioned dream king. I believe this symbolizes the fact that at the start, Bard has a dream to save the world, and that dreams are hard to understand, much like how Bard wasn’t understanding what was going on at first.
Then, as Bard becomes more worried about the adventure, and more scared of losing it all, he changes to the Nightmare king, as Bard’s worst fears are realized... the world is ending, and now he has transformed into something even harder to understand.
This game needs more attention from everyone.

I've donated 300 Bits (100 bits 3 times, since 100 bit donations normally trigger an alert on most streams, and even show the message on screen with text-to-voice activation) to a Jacksepticeye Stream.
all 3 messages I sent IS about playing Wandersong, about how he and the fans will love it, about how it gives off "night in the woods" vibes with more positivity, and that the composer of both games is the same dude.
but too bad, stream was him talking about Game of Thrones with Robin/pixlpit (his editor, also a streamer and youtuber), and at the end when I ran out of bits after 300, he finally said the reason he wasn't reading anyone's donation messages (and also probably the reason all 3 didn't appear on screen and didn't trigger any alerts) was because he was in a discussion stream, he didn't want to get interrupted. in hindsight, after the first donation didn't trigger an alert, i should've stopped and waited for next stream. i was dumb and impulsive, thinking he streams on twitch rarely, so I didn't wait.
i think he also said he will read the messages later or something, but not sure. I just hope he sees it at this point....
but yeah, the easiest way for the audience/consumer to reach content creators nowadays is using Twitch Donation Bits. most streamers will read your message, and message will show up screen more often than not if you donate 100 or more bits.
also btw, i think most youtubers already have a list of games to play? to never run out of content? he once said somewhere that he keeps a notepad/book where it lists his video ideas and games to play, which he sometimes forget about... some games never get played even though it's been on list for quite a long time.
pretty sure he said somewhere that the cover of that book is "if found, please return to '(insert a dumb made up name with Von here)'. Reward : bag of dicks".

The bardlet was singing stars from the sky and guiding vines from the earth! I always loved them, but I never was in awe on them before.
Well, that' not true. I was in awe of them in Chismet, when the warmth of those around them got them back on their feet. I was in awe of them when they sang the voices of ghost, of nations. I was in awe so them as they connected with nearly every person they came across with kindness of all things, when their mercy came around and a thousand insects lifted ancient stones. It was just with their sweet smile and warm ways, I never recognized how powerful they are.
Well, the world of Wandersong is literally made of music. Its universe is made of Eya's song, and even the magic that the witches use in the game is based on music. By the time you're facing Audrey in this final battle the world itself is on the verge of unraveling. It's not that far-fetched to think that the bard would be able to bend reality itself (to some degree) with his songs, when that reality is coming undone and lacks the stability and integrity it'd usually have.
Bards are over powered

this song is so good, it's both epic and kind of heartbreaking. The fight in the game really felt like everything was on the line even though you can just retry if you fail, this song added so much to that moment
When I was listening to this theme, I was legit scared that I would fail to steal Audrey's sword on time and that she would kill the Dream King. I was really scared of a bad ending :( but now, I think you really can´t lose that "fight".
Yeah. The health bar is entirely superficial. If anything it represents Audrey’s health more than the Nightmare King’s.

@@ivan-sin-compania5710 Maybe you already know this by now, but you can't get the bad ending from the Nightmare King "fight". You get it by singing one of the Overseer songs manually at the Nexus Point before you "learn" the song. Each song you sing manually should trigger some small changes in dialogue I think, and I believe that without wiping your save, you can only get the bad ending once.
this fight is a little less climactic when you realize you literally cannot lose but it's still sick

The fight was, like, the perfect climax for such a wonderful game, and the music fit so perfectly! Im not gonna lie, the fanbase makes it a lot better too, it's like a nice, wholesome neighborhood. Considering just how the circumstances go about, thinking about it, it's really such an amazing plotline. Audrey is probably either driven to insanity by the end, or so devoted to a destiny she's failing to see what she did wrong, and I think that's just great. I really want to know more about Audrey; I almost love her more than the Bard themselves!
The moment she uses her scarf as a sword to kill the Nightmare King is also amazing, like, woah...
I can go on, but in the end all you really need to know is that the fight is perhaps the most amazingly climactic, intense, and suspenseful moments of the entire game, hell, perhaps most games.

I have a LOT I could say about this song, too much for a RUclips comment. It is absolutely one of my favorite songs in the soundtrack. It uses a bunch of pre-established themes, fun fact, if you listen closely you can hear The Way it’s Supposed to Be. It’s so goddamn climactic. Amazing final boss theme.

musical amazingness aside, could you have actually lost the fight? because I’d say the nightmare king was alive with a sliver of health for the entire last phase and a half and audrey never tried to finish him, only attacking the sky and missing

Maybe for the overseer of order: Corrupted monachy? And for chaos it would be ruler or anarchy?
Chaos would be Madness, Order would be Stagnation.
