And thats how we go from "Dude! Viper! Take a chill pill! Why you so angry my guy?!?!" to "Yeah man! You go dude! Never give up!" :D One Piece just does this so damn well
quick detail here, when Zoro attacked the snake it didnt even leave a mark while Noland cut through the whole snake like nothing. how strong was Noland? 👀
Every island has its own story to be told .... Straw-Hat just happened to be there Visiting This is why I love One Piece , its not just some generic island , each island they visited are Unique from each other
You’re so right! It’s part of what feels so fresh and exciting. It’s as if you’re part of the crew discovering a new place and adventure that’s waiting ahead!
Noland's story is one of, if not the greatest backstory ever told in OP. Its full of despair because how he died knowing absolutely nothing about them and what the meaning behind ringing the bill to say "WE ARE HERE"! ❤ It's a story about two opposing ideologies, about two people who believe in different principles but despite that become good friends. The story is full of symbolism and alot of parallels. The Shandorians is not just a group of backward barbarians, they are a people who fought the World Government and lost, and they continued to protect their legacy, the Poneglyph. They have a purpose for their existence and their attachment to survival because they know that they have an important role to protect there heritage. You will see throughout the story and after dozens of tragic flashbacks why Noland's death is so touching. Because he has no hope, unlike the rest of the characters who lived a lot of sad sad sad events، he was the only one who died absolutely hopeless and on his face those miserable expressions which brings us back to the scene of Luffy on Roger's execution platform and how he accepts his death with a smile. His story is still very impactful to this day it has a lot of meanings behind it. The only negative thing about it is that it's too short and some important background details were overlooked and you will understand what I mean later, you will learn the importance of it as you go in throughout the story. ❤
Very well said indeed! There was something different about this story. It has tons of emotion and an ending that feels unresolved, or rather passed on for some future generation to achieve. Knowing that these two enemies, turned best friends, never got to reunite is actually incredibly sad. You could write an essay about this! Lol
I will never understand everyone in this show thinking that bell is angelic. Yeah it's beautiful but that shit is a HAUNTING. Most ominous Bell I've ever heard
I love Skypiea. It’s really different from Alabasta in the aspect of just how intertwined the Straw Hats are with the conflict and the build up. But this takes a totally different approach, it forces the Straw Hats and us as the audience to the sideline and until this flashback we don’t really understand how much history and culture is intertwined in the issues and conflicts. It’s really masterful writing and I think Skypiea, just a itty bitty more than other arcs, is an arc that you should watch twice. Maybe not back to back, but it just lets you see all the wild build up to that flashback in its full glory now that you know the full story.
Couldn’t agree more!! Like you said, not back to back viewings, but rewatching it knowing the full picture it’s gotta completely change how you see things right?? Has there ever been something similar in another anime that made you look back in retrospect that moved your perspective as much as Noland and Calgara?
And so begins Oda's first great leap into beautiful and amazing flashbacks that are not centred around a Strawhat or would-be SH. This is my second favourite, very close to favourite, flashback in the entire story. Very "simple" in scale compared to the ones that succeed it, but boy does it hold up🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥😤😤😤😤😤😤. Crazy how the books made Noland seem lame when he is such a stud. "No! I just broke our commandments and killed a God!"...You can hear the weight of those words in the VA "We are the ones who weave history with the sounding of the great belfry".... I appreciate the sub for how it does a better job at showing off how poetic Oda's writing is, compared to the manga "Nooooolaaaandoooo!!! Ore tachi wa, koko ni iru! "...({We are here) will be my next tattoo...Some of my favourite words in this entire epic
first?? honestly his flashbacks/backstories have been goated from Luffy's back at ep 4, in regards to how Luffy got his treasure and who mentored him to be the person that he is today.
@@UltimateGamerCC lol point still is that this was the first non main character flashbacks that truly enhanced the story. I think the fact that I didn’t even remember the Orange Town ones kinda makes that point.
Dude it so did!!! It made a huge difference in how you see the story and the characters! You understand a lot more with how Wyper feels and even with cricket. Noland and Calgara’s relationship was on of the best backstories so far!
Man, these back stories are always hard to watch. Noland was such a badass, but someone's greed labelled him as a liar. Much like Roger, whose name was altered from Gol D to Gold, suppressing his fame. Feeling bad for the snake, not only did it have to endure Luffy-indegestion, it was also searching for the bell 😢 I don't know if you remember, but in live action, Nami read Noland's story to Zoro. Thanks for your reactions as always.
see, that's where i think you misread the room. it wasnt over Greed that Noland was executed, it was Embarrassment, Lost Men/Ships, Lost Time and the King felt pranked. so while i think it was sleazy how he was slandered, i understand WHY he was executed.
Dude Noland was so cool!! How he would come to be represented is a tragedy! As well as how he would meet his end. It’s actually incredibly sad! This back story really just helped connect to some characters that, up until this point, we’re tough to really get behind including the snake! That’s right huh! What a cool Easter egg! Thanks for always sticking with us!
In answer to your request on Enel's attack names: according to the wiki, '"Mamaragan" is an Australian Aboriginal thunder god.[66] The kanji read banrai (万雷?), a word for heavy thunder that literally means "myriad/10,000 lightnings".' (It might be possible for you to jump straight to the page for Enel's devil fruit (goro goro no mi) and not be spoiled outside of the arc, but I didn't read the whole page so I can't guarantee it.)
* if you do decide to check the wiki, you'd want to go direct from a search engine to the page and ignore images on the sides because one of them will be a suggestion for a random wiki page, which is more likely to be a spoiler than the text on the page would be.
Dude! Thanks for letting us know! It’s cool how the names are taken from a bunch of different languages or cultures ect. Plus he’s got some cool attack names! Shoot as tempting as it sounds it might be too dangerous for us! We can’t risk the spoilers! Hahah
I do love that backstory. I also think Noland is sadly naïve. He recognized the colonialist behaviors in himself but disregarded them in his King. I don't know what he thought they were planning on doing when they got there, but that knock-up stream saved the Shandorans, I'm sure of that.
Oh man. That’s a good point. From what they did to Noland, this monarchy didn’t exactly seem the gracious type. You might be able to assume it would have been similar to the Spanish and the Aztecs.
i have to respectfully disagree with you, Brannon. on the subject of "i wish the Eneru fight was a bit longer." and here's why. Eneru was obviously getting his ass handed to him by Luffy, with the fight being longer, it would've probably gotten boring, because Eneru was literally struggling the entire time to do some damage. now that worked in Crocodile and Luffy's case because once Luffy figured out how to hit him, they were evenly matched with Luffy pulling out the winning KO, but Eneru isnt the same case, he's obviously weaker in the sense that Luffy is a natural counter to his power, it's more like Croc v Luffy round 1, only the opposite happening. i think Toei AND Oda ended the fight just before the final blow could be dealt, even though IMO Rifle was the final blow in a sense.
Frankly it’s a good play by Eneru to just remove him from the battlefield. Like you said, obviously Eneru is on his back foot. He does manage to pull out the stops but Luffy finds a counter each time and he’s not being put away. Looking back, it makes sense for the story but you can’t help but want to see Luffy being Luffy for longer. Haha
Great reaction like always...but im gonna be honest , im here to recommend a anime to you. It called Dorohedoro. Im sure it will be great content for your channel😉
