    Hi, so just got my new wheels in, they are the same ones that came with the robot 😓. These new ones are splitting too so I guess the splitting is normal. The Distilled water really helps with the tire streaking 👍🏻

    I've seen several comments about streaking; have you tried using distilled water when you mix up the solution for the m6? Depending on how hard your tap water is, minerals from the water could be a significant constituent of the streaks.
    On the topic of wheel assembly/disassembly, there's a limit to how much I can deduce from footage alone, but from what I saw, the parts that seemed to give you the most trouble were getting and keeping the guard out of the way, and getting the wheel to come out at the right angle. Based on that, try the following instructions and see if they help:
    1. Once you have the wheel screw removed, carefully separate the black plastic guard from the wheel (use a small flat-head screwdriver as a lever and work your way around the wheel if necessary), and push the guard all the way back onto the wheel mount.
    2. While keeping the wheel aligned vertically, shift it away from the mount until it clears the black wheel guard, and then pull up until it catches on the white axle gear piece.
    3. Tilt the top of the wheel towards the wheel mount, so that the face of the wheel into which the wheel screw goes is angled upwards, and, while keeping it tilted, try to wiggle the wheel up and away from the wheel mount to slip it out of its cavity.

      HAst Thanks so much for the tip, I think my biggest mistake was I came home late at night from work and filmed this, so basically my brain was out the door and my hand eye coordination was not there. Good tips, in the demonstration video they made it look sooo easy. I will look into the Tap water and see if that helps, I do have a whole house Echo Water Purifying system so I get very minimal tire streaking. It doesn't affect me too much and when the solution dries up the streaking goes away. Thanks again for providing me with these helpful tips 👍

    Thanks for the video. It’s a lot easier if you use the screwdriver to hold the screw in place while you spin the wheel. You are much less likely to strip the screw. Good luck!

    Typos. The surefire sign that you're conversing with a human. I just checked my wheels and they're fortunately fine even though upon closure inspection they look already pre-cut. If some people are dismayed at streaks then streaks with a cracked pattern has got to be that much worse. I have NOT used any of the pre-packaged solution. As a matter of fact, I may have actually tossed it out. My idea was to use a bit of Pine-Sol with cleanings, however I was so impressed with the use of just water that I've never quite gotten around to adding it in. "Other" solutions are said to be "prohibited", but I mean... It's just Pine-Sol! It's just as much a solution as what came with it!
    Anyhoo, good to see that you found your resolution, unfortunate that they seem to crack again. They were FREE so it's not as if you wasted money. The market for Roomba replacement parts is flooded with third party product manufacturers so, hopefully, if this becomes a big enough problem with owners, one will come along with their own wheels for consumers to purchase.

    • @RobotMasters
      @RobotMasters  5 лет назад

      Yeah sooo the replacement wheels are suppose to have splits in them aka looks like they are cracking. The Tire Streaking should be improved with future software updates, or Distilled water also helps with the streaking.

    Hi, Do the reusable pads need to be changed after every use or can they clean multiple times before requiring a wash? Thanks.

    • @RobotMasters
      @RobotMasters  5 лет назад +1

      It all depends on how dirty your area is, I find after 500 sq-ft I have to change out the pad because they become filled with dirt and start spreading the dirt around. If you do regular mopping weekly you may be able to cover a 1,000 sq-ft on one mopping pad. If you have a very small area then yes you could keep the reusable pad on for multiple cleaning runs. I usually give them a quick rinse to get the majority of the dirt off. They can be used in the washer and dryer under the gentle setting.

      Yes the m6 is a flag ship mopping model but it not ideal for everyone home. If you have a smaller home with just a couple carpet free areas the Braava Jet 240 a better choice because it’s smaller and has a vibrating mopping head, the m6 doesn’t. If you have a large place the w400 a good choice for the price if you don’t mind not having the self charging and smart mapping. If it was me I would just get all 3 hahaha

      clou1969 Wow I am going to have to take a look at the i7 side brush. I assume the screw that holding the sidebrush down isn’t over tighten causing the side brush to rub on the plastic housing. 0:50 ok. So the wheels are not meant to be like regular wheels. If you place the wheels on the side you will see that the wheels are made out of slides of material. They are meant to open a little in between. The reason why the outer wheel is more open than the inner is because the outer wheels turns more than the inner so they apply a little bit more of friction. My m6 also looks like that and works just fine. That’s why the reply from iRobot says “there are no defects with the robots wheels” they are meant to open a little. They send you new wheels because they want to keep you happy.

    • @RobotMasters

    • @hadrast
      @hadrast 5 лет назад +3

      I'm not entirely convinced that everything's ok, for two reasons. First, as was pointed out in the video, the wear isn't even. If all the little segments were opened up and wiggling back and forth to accommodate over/under turn when the bot spins, I wouldn't worry so much, but I can see uneven wear on little bits like that causing problems down the road (e.g. if a couple of the chunks work loose and fall out, making the wheel go *thunk* whenever it rolls over the gap). Second, I tracked down the iRobot video demonstrating the wheel replacement (ruclips.net/video/rNig0bmhMIg/видео.html), and the wheels they show there are a different design. It's possible that what's in the video is an older design, but I'd wait to see which design of wheel shows up in the mail before I draw any conclusions.

    • @RobotMasters
      @RobotMasters  5 лет назад +2

      HAst Yes I have to agree with you, I think they used the updated wheels in the demonstration video, and some owners said their older Braava Jets never had this issue. I will keep you guys updated once my new wheels arrived.

      Denis Lara Ohhh good to know, some m6 user are getting streaking and think it’s due to the open wheels, others say they don’t have streaking when using distilled water. I have minor streaking, not a huge deal breaker for me, got the replacement wheels to see if they would be any different than these. In the demonstration video to take the wheel off the wheel looks different.
