Thanks for sharing Jessica's story. It's got me thinking how, if you pay attention to how you got to using and being addicted, you can actually remember things from your childhood that might have happened that trigger feeling of insecurity within you and cause you to drink. I think it's really important to confront our past and find healing.

I believe if you are sober and try to do the right thing things will fall into place. You just have to keep your head up and just do the right thing and keep going

Right now Im on 4 days of not drinking and 4 hours of not smoking cigarettes, both of those a 45 year run. The feeling of not feeling like crap for this short period of time is bizarre. But I’ve been here before and am prepared for the craving train. Im beginning to believe that the physical addiction is minor, its the subconscious programming, the habit that is a bitch to break. A physical addiction can be managed professionally, only you can manage your behavior.

Drinking is way down from younger days, 3 glasses of wine or 3 beers is usually enough to dehydrate me and turn me into a useless moron for at least 3 days, the problem with that is rather than be happy with just friday night it turns into a 5 day spread and regular life stuff starts not getting done. In my teens, twenties, thirties and forties it was a never ending party. When I bought my first house at age 32 it was a lot of landscaping renovation every weekend which consisted of a shovel, a wheelbarrow, a 30 pack of red dog 🐶 and a half gallon of captain morgan to keep it going at night, that was not including during the week, and that was after almost 20 years of continuous partying.
Smoking 🚬, I think I started around 12 years old, probably a pack a day for a good 40 years.
I smoked pot, did a little coc, but somehow never got caught up in that bullshit, thank god. I don’t know how I got anything done or made it this far. Looking back I wonder what could have been if I didn’t do any of that crap, but it is what it is, its time to move on.

Mentally, spiritually, and physically, the gaps were filled in by other people in a 12 Step Program. The thing that made me stop listening and start typing was Jessica's honesty. I could feel it and it felt like she's talking to as well as others. I have watched tons of recovery shows through my years. Maybe 35 yrs of recovery/addiction & 12 step programs. That is why my ears perked up and I knew she was honest. Our stories have some similarities.
In conclusion, the reason sobriety has not stuck for me is I have dual diagnosis disorder. Meaning fairly serious mental health diagnosises that were popping up even before I drank and use drugs to kill my inner pain. I see a doctor for meds but I need to get to a therapist.
Please dont feel sorry for me. I know what paths to follow. I am so grateful for Jessica sharing her honest and straight forward path of her experience, strength, and hope. 0:30

41:00 Jessica says, "I have been blessed with so many things in my life. I can't keep those all to myself."
It's the same with me, which is why I'm helping an opioid-addicted friend with his methadone program, helping him to get his driver's license back, helping him to get a vehicle on the road.

Well Jessica, I just watch your video normally I would have watched about two minutes of it and turned it off for some reason I stuck with it I think because you're so genuine that really comes across. I want to thank you for sharing I found some hope in your video. I've been using for 20 years pretty-much functioning addict finally losing everything. I've been to maybe 10 NA meetings in my life never had a sponsor and never shared anything about myself other than hi my name is Steve and I'm an addict. So I never got much out of this because I never gave much to it. I'm going to go to my first NA meeting again tonight.. now I got a new challenge I'm going to give this 93 meetings in 90 days then I'm going to re-evaluate and see where I'm at. If I still want to use after 93 meetings in 90 days I'm going put a big one to become just another statistic but it'll finally be the end of the suffering I will get a sponsor and I won't use anything for 90 days. Recently had a couple times where I made it 30 days clean it's always the financial Rewards that's when that little voice says you can just go use a little bit and nobody will know self-isolate sitting a s******* hotel room and literally go insane. Thanks for your video Jessica Time Will Tell let's see where we're at 90 days
