Honestly, if they just started slowly making the major expansion free after years I think that would make it easier for new people to get in. Like some expansions are like 5 years old now.
Dude imagine in 2021 you have to pay 30 dollars for mare nostrum. The only feature of the whole dlc that im sad about not having is the timeline thingy
its crazy how many QoL changes are locked behind dlc. like, i don't know how i played seafaring nations without art of war, or how i vassal swarmed as ashikaga. at least make the very essential mechanics free and leave the religions and focus trees as a paid expansion.
@@tanegram Issue is, then you get stuff like Mare Nostrum of which 90% of the features have been moved to the base game yet it still costs full price... Which they should just fix by making the expansion cheaper.

@@OnlyKarlos No I like to think we just hope they would create a worthy successor but I too have come to see how CK3 and EU4 turned out and I am scared of seeing paradox make a vic3 since I am certain they would pump it full of dlc and every dlc would break the game
To me, EU4 is like a building. The base game is the foundation, and the DLCs are the other floors. You can't keep adding more and more floors without the entire thing collapsing or shaking when everything becomes unbalanced to a point were no fixes can really be done.
@тхе иксцкл I agree. I don't think "sequels" will help Paradox in the long term either as most folks see the pricing policy of what've they are doing already now and move on. There is no incentive for me to get CKIII if I know most likely future DLC's make paywalls to features that should be in the base game to begin with. When have we ever seen a Paradox DLC go for 75% off?
TBH i preferred old way. When DLC's were called expansions. Base game + 3 to 5 expos, then moving on to next game with something new and fresh. This game is just stinking pile of turd now. It has been for a long time. Bad design choices made this an arcade map painter rather than deep kingdom simulator. OG's know what i mean.
@OHGAS IMHO nothing wrong with few unhinged people going REEEE from time to time. But to make it an excuse to brush off real criticism. This is like playing a gay card without being a gay :)
It really isn't, but the bundle is on sale often so you could easily safe like 75% or so. Still a hefty price tag, but probably not more than 2 full price games would cost.
Thats right. I think large number of potential players play on cracked versions because they cant afford full game and PDX is loosing money because of that
I don't think it's fair to say you need all dlc to have fun. I played base game plus art of war for like 3 years before slowly adding more dlc as I liked the game more
@@Janecek185 This. I started in vanilla about 2 weeks before the DLC subscription came out. I figured it was too much to learn at once and was gonna buy like a DLC a month as I learned. slight correction about vanilla: you can develop provinces without common sense, they made this a thing after one of the many times people got pissed at them
i know they did add in a lot of things like that to avoid the game being completely broken, but i was more talking in the sense of before the expansions even existed
The funny thing is that they named the pac common sence. Which one would expect to be in the game by default... I love paradox. 30% of all my games are made by them but we need more games from them and they need to be more accessible. It's common sence!
In the past month I went from thinking EU4 is still a game with great untapped potential to one they need to let die and stop beating its corpse at once. Thanks Johan.
I just think Johan should leave . Eu4 is probably done despite a few bugs and mechanics but Imperator has potential after 2.0 and Vicky 3 would be needed for those who do mega campaigns
A way that I’ve reconciled the ridiculous price of ALL the DLC is that it isn’t that expensive when you buy it portions, as they release them. Still, $300+ is insane in the grand scheme of things.
EUIV is in a similar situation to The Sims 4, being basically alone in their respective genres, they can charge very uncompetitive prices, launch packs riddled with bugs and get away with it. People get angry for a bit and then buy them anyway. You can notice other similar patterns too, shipping a barebones basegame and pretending the two dozen DLCs are paying for its life support while endlessly extending it. I can only wait for these games to be finally put to rest, but then again if they have no competition I don't really see anything changing.
At least Sims4 was simplified and streamlined compared to its predecessor. It was also more stable, required less memory and CPU from the computer, and crashed less and loaded more quickly. This was largely due to removing the open world in the Sims3 and toning the graphics down. You can't say the same for EU4, it is worse in those respects than EU3.
@@natedlc854 The problem with anno is that its not really a history game. If it had real world maps to play on and replicated the factions and resources that were present in that area then maybe.
My biggest problem with the dlc system is that the old dlc stay expensive, I have no problem with paying the amount on release, but having to catch up just really is roadblock that I completely understand people don't want to cross to even try the game
@The Gamemaster "just wait for sales" argument disgusts me. Even then paying $100+ is not worth it for the game that is not optimized for the best performance, because it runs on an ancient engine. Those people who brag wasting 1000 hours and saying how they're just "beginners" can just as well have 500 hours if the game was performance tuned. But no, god forbid them to even think about solving it.

When one core handles 95% of all tasks that EU4 has to do… yeah… the game engine has been dead for year. It just have not stop moving. Most likely because of cravity. We need badly multi core game engine to get fast Late game speed and a posibility to get ai that is not like one bee lost from hive… Well actually that is insult to bee, that has more prosessina capasity than the one core game engine gives to this game…
Imo development should have ended with emperor , which despite having a below average launch, brought features that you could say where needed for the game to be considered complete. Leviathan did look promising (even though it wasn't really needed as an expansion), but its launch left a huge "stain" in the game since it managed to screw over mechanics that where considered stable and completely ruin the experience in some cases.
Can you imagine playing the game where you cant transfer fucking control of occupied territory with allies? that'll be 15$ the fact that people will defend this insipid business model is repulsive to me. The next games will have the same model all their games do so I'm not really excited at all, I'm just going to wait a few years after release of an Eu5 wait for sales with a couple dlc to not have a borderline unplayable game that Eu4 vanilla is. They've made a lot of money by not having obvious features in game I'm sure they will continue to.
I want Victoria 3 but I really want government types to matter. Being a democracy should be an absolute pain especially a federal republic like the U.S. Having to balance public opinion with regional interests and your own ambitions all needing to conform with your political institutions. And absolute monarchs clad in lion pelts shouldn't need jingoism, have elections/parties or be restricted in what reforms they can enact.
@@OnlyKarlos And we just know that we won't get a clean release like Victoria 2 with a few small dlcs. Victoria 3 would get milked to death with everything from Japanese samurai unit packs, colonial mandates expansion, Victorian era nation specific flavor packs, American civil war reforged dlc, to an alternate history dlc where sci-fi tech having sub-saharan tribes colonize Europe. lol
What's even worse us that there are still important countries in Europe that are still bare bones. Burgundy was criminally bare for a very long time and Lithuania for example is still bare bones. Hoi4 is another series like this with nations like Italy still sidelined for dlcs that focus all their attention on random little nations or new mechanics.
Funny thing is, I disabled automatic updates for EU4 before Leviathan hit the store, since I really didn't like the picture that the dev diaries painted. Best decision I could've made. To me EU4 is already dead in the same way CK2 is - no more updates to mess up the game. CK3's launch taught me well to not expect anything good from PDX anymore. It's my biggest case of buyer's remorse in recent memory. Can't even get excited for the Vicky 3 announcement we just got despite being a big fan of Vicky 2.
Yes it is. Please give me alternative grand strategy game in this timeline with different mechanics, better ai, without pay to play mechanics and with less bugs. Somebody should create any rivalry for PDX

Too bad Imperator: Rome kind of failed since imo it looks awesome and is one of the most in-depth games yet also understandable game that Paradox has made
Paradox in general is losing focus in all their titles. A game called Europa Universalis gets massive content updates focusing on native nations nobody is going to play and makes the game more annoying for the main nations. HOI4, a world war 2 game, gets huge focus trees on nations that did not participate in the war or were annexed before it while countries like Finland still don't have a focus tree and the Soviet fucking Union has less depth than the Netherlands. The games should concentrate content on the parts of world that are relevant to their setting
I think that Paradox planned to drop EU4 after the IR release, but since IR flopped they had to push EU4 further then they wanted to. One of the biggest clues to this is the new EU4 team who did Leviathan, apart from 2 EU4 Veteran Devs they are all new hires, tasked to turn push out a few DLC while the EU4 core team is working on EU5.
I was happy to pay an insane ammout for my addiction. But the pruduct has become impure and the price keeps going up. Imgaine what would have happened if Pablo Escobar delivered rotten flour in indian tri-wheeled mini trucks instead of grade-A colombian magic powder in submarines? I also disagree on CK3 being a valid sequel to CK2. For me it's a CK2 with Zero Sugar at the moment. And we all know coke zero is not good.
Paradox will keep making $20 DLCs because they've learned they can basically make their fans repurchase EU4 every time there's an update. We haven't bought 14 DLCs. We've purchased EU4 14 times.

That said if you dont wanna have eu5 whenever it comes out don´t buy it.
if we get EU5 game I hope paradox might bring in the MEIOU and Taxes devs. I think that the really immersive building and pop systems of MEIOU is what EU5 would need to distinguish itself
MEIOU runs slow as a dead carthorse though, and I didn't enjoy it at all when I tried it as I found it overcomplicated in areas that did not need such complexity.
@@Jupiter__001_ I totally agree with the complexity argument. I could not play MEIOU and Taxes for even an hour before realising there's way too much stuff going on. But there are some aspects of it that really make me come back again and again. The whole development and population rework is great, as well as a province map and a start date that is both more realistic and more enjoyable.
no, that'll make the game far too niche. there should be a MEIOU-ified eu4 or eu5, which is what's already happening really with it being a mod. unmodded eu4 still has its charm that MEIOU doesn't deliver. base game is the arcade version while MEIOU is the 'simulation'
I think EU5 will be released in a 1-2 year period. That whole story with the separate new Barcelona team to make just a DLC is very strange and what I think they are really working on is the next part. We can predict it in the near future with the Dev diaries. Ck2 stopped all the posts after Holy Fury and in a year the sequel is announced. So if all the new posts will be about the stability of the game etc. it is the obvious sign of the fifth part. Right now in their apology letter they used the words like it is the last DLC and they won’t work on EU4 in the future.
I will never be able to justify paying 400 dolars for a game when living in Argentina, i love the eu4 videos but unless i learn how to pirate it i wont play it
Fans - "Stop releasing overpriced and broken DLC's" Also Fans - "We pre-order everything and then whine for weeks and make overdramatic YT videos, instead of just rolling the patch back and waiting for the DLC to be on sale"
@Jean Sanchez Customers paid for pre-release. I have zero compassion for people that spend money so irresponsibly and then get disappointed when they get screwed out of it. If people would stop to be such sheep and stop pre-ordering, Paradox would make sure to not ship broken trash.
@Jean Sanchez Companies are not people, their main objective is profit and if the customers continue to buy unfinished stuff, they will keep doing. The most impactful thing that a company can suffer is losing money, but boycotts never work, because people never adhere to them. It's a very sad situation. I think pre-orders are bad mainly because is a situation of trust, and you can't trust things that only care about profit, and if you buy it, they kinda already won a buy, so, most of the time, they collect a lot of from people that already trusted them, and slowly convince the other through patches ands dlcs.
All for EU4 getting a sequel on the condition that they won’t ck3 it, and actually add into it all the flavor and mechanics that EU4 has gaines over the years
Personally I think that EU4 is a good game but seeing that paradox is becoming either EA or Bethesda I think they either need a competitor or open their eyes to the reality of the situation. I hope that Paradox will know that EU4 will die if it continues like this and hopefully it can spawn EU5 with many things that existed within EU4 even the DLCs
Paradox screws up from time to time but just imagine a world with no paradox games no hoi4 no ck2/3 no vicky 2 and no eu4 would that be something your all interested in because I wouldn’t want that
"I know you're all Paradox Grand Strategy goblins like myself" was a bit too real after watching this 10 minute video about the game I've spent $300+ on
@OHGAS Much appreciated my dear sir, but I believe that those quotation marks would undercut the level of emphasis I was attempting to impart to my point.
It's incredibly frustrating to get used to a EU4 version, and then have a new update, which nearly demands a DLC to fully enjoy it. You can't even follow old tutorials on RUclips because, in many aspects, they're not "the same game". I'm done. 1.30 is my last, ultimate version.
The EU4 DLC is the reason I haven't got into the game despite liking the look of it. I don't mind DLC when you play from their release but it makes getting in on it later down the line very hard.
Paradox is possibly the worst company at attracting new players. You get into the genre to late and all the games are priced through the roof. And it's not like you can't buy the dlcs because they lock major mechanics and QOL updates behind the pay walls. When the total cost of your game reaches $400 aud it's time to think about consolidating those features into a sequel so you can attract new and returning players back.
I think the major issue with EU4 atm, is that it feels a bit bloated, it feels like Paradox throws in new mechanics to just to add mechanics. I am one that think that EU4 needs to go out honorably, like CK2 did, Holy Fury was the best DLC Paradox have ever made, hands down. And it made it so that CK2 goes down as an amazing game, not saying EU4 should end on this DLC, because that would leave a sour taste in the mouth of many, but after one really good one, perhaps move on to other projects and give them some love, would love to see them focusing more on the other titles for a while, because atm, EU4 gets too much of the love since it is the breadbasket of Paradox's money making imho.
I would like an EU5 for two reasons: improved graphics and improved gameplay. Imperator: Rome and Crusader Kings 3 looks great, and for EU5 I am hoping we'll actually get a map on a globe. I love the mercator map projection and it is fitting for the era the game takes place, but it does distort the landmasses and I think the realism of a globe would actually have a positive effect for the EU franchise. As for mechanics... I feel like the mechanics in EU4 don't play off one another very well. I've always liked the idea of development but I've never really liked how it's been implemented into the gameplay, and Paradox's attempt to make development something that you can interact more via the actual gameplay just made the system worse. Paradox needs to review their mechanics and the purposes behind them and what they're supposed to represent. CK3 did a good job streamlining a lot of features that were present in CK2. Like you, I don't really feel compelled to go back and play CK2, I prefer to play CK3. I want an EU5 that is to EU4 what CK3 was to CK2.
For me i had to stop playing EU4 because of all the DLC, and when id jump back in, the game had gotten to complex So by releasing new DLC the game becomes harder to get into in both ways, both price and how stuff you need to learn Thats why i complety agree with you on making an EU5, so they can cut some fat, but also introduce, like you said, less mana type system Heres hoping they have it in the works as we speak
A well-reasoned argument sir. I would agree that it seems like the right time for EUV. CKIII is a great example of what Paradox should use as a blueprint for a sequel to long-running game with as much development put into it as EUIV. The DLC situation will always be tricky because that's how Paradox pays their devs to keep working on a game years after launch. Without it, the game's development post-launch would be much shorter - maybe just a year. Maybe some people would prefer that, but that's just not been their business strategy so far. They've talked about how adding systems to EUIV is so hard because every time they add something, they end up breaking another system because the game is so massive now. It must be a nightmare for a new team member to be assigned to EUIV and be told "Hey, make us some awesome new systems without breaking these other ones that were made by someone else 5 years ago". Honestly, I'd be surprised if they weren't already working on EUV.
I think the price is a massive wall to new players like me. I've owned the game for a couple years but have only played 5 hours because my friends keep saying its unplayable without certain dlc. Also, the game has been expanded upon so much that I feel very lost in the UI, whereas experienced players have been gradually introduced to the content.
considering the game has to restart each time you go to the main menu they might want to start from scratch the price tag at this point does more to repel anyone wanting to get into the game outside of multiplayer of course they created the problem and are selling the solution in the form of a subscription but I wonder who at this point wants that
Emperor should have been the last DLC EU4 has been getting bloated with the years, its time for either a new EU5 or a main title. HoI4 is the worst example of DLC milking, the base game feels like an early access title
The problem with so many essential DLCs is that it made the game never feel complete. It felt like I was constantly playing a beta version and the game could change drastically with a whim. With Ck2 most of the DLCs were flavor based and didn't change the base game too much (though there were a few that did). EU4 however was constantly adding DLCs that changed the game completely.
Didn't Paradox say that was the last EU4 dlc? I think they will do like CK2, 1 last big dlc, in this case it failed lol unlike CK2, then 1 large free update later and finally annouce the new game. They said last DLC so I think things are lining up.
I think what I'd like to see out of a prospective EU5 is the provincial granularity of either mods such as Voltaire's Nightmare 2 or Imperator: Rome. CK is ultimately better at the stories and narratives behind your playthrough, and HOI offers a much more streamlined experience at fighting a big war (although it is only one war), but I think where EU really shines is being able to paint the map and feel good doing it. And therefore EU5 should give a bigger map to paint.
Realpolitiks 2 is a grand strategy game that's practically Paradox at heart. It's a beautiful game, it's set in the modern era, and people love it. That's some badly-needed competition right there!
What pisses me off is the fact some people at PDX don't have mental acumen to put majority of these DLC into base game and just leave like couple newest DLC to sell. And this is going on for how many years now and they still didn't figure out that they are limiting their own growth. They alienating potential new and old players just by seeing that forsaken DLC list and how much it is going to cost. Also people that own all DLC don't even care about new players paying less since they would be thrilled to get new people in. And to make matters worse it is just bad for business since they are stagnating their community and sales. I want to play stellaris but fuck me not even that is affordable, hell even if I was richest person in world I wouldn't give 200$ for a game upfront. So it seems only way to properly enjoy PDX game is to be there at beginning then you can space out your spending and make it reasonable in long run.
"The king must die so the nation can live." In my opinion, I feel like that EU4's UI does need a change though as a semi-newish player. Its very stylized and while pretty, it could benefit a lot from CK3's UI that tells you what each thing is when you hover over it and in general, it feels a lot more cluttered/condensed than CK3's.
As one of the rare Paradox fanboys who was never sucked into EU4, I fully accept and desire an EU5. I've never been comfortable buying a lot of dlc for a game, and EU4s price tag has always been why I never play it. Seeing the love EU4 has gotten over the years simply leaves me wanting. A man stuck on the wrong side of the fence, looking in at what could be. But I'm also one of the few people on earth who understands how to play Victoria 2 so suck it dorks.
Paradox should provide a bit more free content. I mean, that is the current norm. It's sad that Paradox is still stuck in the past with their dlc policy.
I got EU4 for dirt cheap during a sale recently and I love it, then I saw an offer to pay 5 dollars for access to all the DLC for a month AND a Sabaton music pack and started enjoying the game even more. I really want an EU5 already though, just so I don't have to worry about all this DLC stuff
Maaan I'm a big lover of EU4, if you've ever seen my content you would know I am, considering it's what pays my bills. The release of Leviathan hurt my moral in all honest, enough so that I have considered ways to branch out and be less dependent on EU4 viewership to further my brand. That being said, yeah. I do think EU4 needs to move on. I think that further updates to fix bugs and maybe balance previous mechanics are appropriate, but I don't hope for any more DLC in the coming years for my beloved game. The announcement of V3 has me stoked up as all get-out, so we'll see where that goes. Keep on keeping it real Davo, you're doing great work brother.
I strongly disagree with Dave regarding CK3 being good at launch. It’s acceptable, but it needed another 6 months in development. Plus we got months of silence from their team since the game is in dev hell. Overall, a simple port of EU to another version of Clauswitz with proper pops and a more in depth development is something that will make me happy. However, I think Paradox has kinda fell asleep at the wheel and are making bad decisions all around for their games
Old comment, but I strongly disagree with your disagreement. CK3 was the best launch for any Paradox game ever. No, of course it wasn't perfect. But it struck the best balance for any Paradox sequel so far, in terms of what it contained, and the obvious room it left to expand.
I have played 800 hours of mostly vanilla(I only have like 5 dlcs that were included with the deluxe or premium version) and im still having the time of my life(currently playing in india). However, I dont think that eu4 should die, the problem is what paradox is doing with the game, and after making clear mistakes and receiving critiques, they are blaming the players, and thats just stupid, players that love eu4, who have invested more than 250 dolars and hundreds of hours on the game and outside the game thinking abouts strategies. On the other hand, it would be very cool to see more people jumping on EU with a new game, many of my friends would love to play EU4, make custom nations, have tons of puppets and ask them to change their religion to make an ultra religious front in arabia... and all that would be included in a new EU5. I think that this will be an interesting debate.
If they do make a EU5, I hope they improve on tall gameplay. I know EU4 is supposed to be a empire building game and I as many other players like map painting, but I feel like there aren't that many other options to play this game other then 3: 1. Empire building on land, with a huge and good military 2. Colonial empire with some expansion on the continent of origin and then just relax and click some buttons 3. Tall gameplay, where you don't own a huge swat of land, but it's still useful I just wish there was more to do in this game besides that. For example, make the HRE gameplay so internally focused that you almost don't have time to expand outside of it as a small minor. Or a new China system, where ones China falls, there will be an internal HRE/Daimyo sort of thing where outsiders are discouraged to attack and the warlords are encouraged to unite. One other example could be a Papal states kind of thing, were you fight to become the curia controller through bribes and maybe even assassination to show off what happened during the early Renaissance Papacy. I know these are all very niche things and probably won't be in a base game, which I understand, but some more specific gameplay would be nice IMO. Maybe it's not what EU4 is made for, which I can understand, but if a competitor would be made, I'd like for that to happen.
I honestly still dont understand the praise for CK3 it is just CK2 with all the features removed and better looking graphics. The new mechanics that are there dont add enough depth to be fun. If they do a sequel sure it will be flashy and pretty. It will have a few new mechanics that look fun, but then after the honeymoon period ends and you get past the first few hours you will start to notice all the missing mechanics and features and it will become dull quickly. Then to rub salt in the wound they will sell you dlc that is essentially eu4 features removed and then put back in EU5. Of course I would love a sequel to EU4 but atm if they made one I know how it would turn out.

To me, EU4 is like a building. The base game is the foundation, and the DLCs are the other floors. You can't keep adding more and more floors without the entire thing collapsing or shaking when everything becomes unbalanced to a point were no fixes can really be done.
Especially when you give a completely unexperienced crew the task of building the top floor, then rush them to finish it on an arbitrary timeline.

All for EU4 getting a sequel on the condition that they won’t ck3 it, and actually add into it all the flavor and mechanics that EU4 has gaines over the years
Pretty strange argument when CK3 clearly had the best and most full-fledged launch of any Paradox game ever.
Personally I think that EU4 is a good game but seeing that paradox is becoming either EA or Bethesda I think they either need a competitor or open their eyes to the reality of the situation.
They messed up EUIV so bad they had to announce Vicky 3
And it made it so that CK2 goes down as an amazing game, not saying EU4 should end on this DLC, because that would leave a sour taste in the mouth of many, but after one really good one, perhaps move on to other projects and give them some love, would love to see them focusing more on the other titles for a while, because atm, EU4 gets too much of the love since it is the breadbasket of Paradox's money making imho.
i mean EUV being developed would prolly slow down Vicky 3 but ok i guess *sobs*
vic3 would end up like ck3 just a worse vic2
well a song says LET İT DİE , LET İT DİE (but Paradox pls develop eu5 and make it beatiful terms of gameplay, mechanics, and everything else)
I want an EU5 that is to EU4 what CK3 was to CK2.
woah, I've never thought about a global map, but it sounds pretty intriguing
I want to play EU4 but I'm scared to invest money into a game that
A. came out in 2013
and
B. can be replaced at any moment with a sequel announcement
For me i had to stop playing EU4 because of all the DLC, and when id jump back in, the game had gotten to complex
So by releasing new DLC the game becomes harder to get into in both ways, both price and how stuff you need to learn
Thats why i complety agree with you on making an EU5, so they can cut some fat, but also introduce, like you said, less mana type system
Heres hoping they have it in the works as we speak
You dont need all the DLC, ofc its gonna be complex if you buy every DLC right away.
Try the subscription model, you'd have to play the game for far too long for the DLCs to be worth it
If you go to G2A you can get most of the DLCs for really cheap
considering the game has to restart each time you go to the main menu they might want to start from scratch
the price tag at this point does more to repel anyone wanting to get into the game outside of multiplayer of course they created the problem and are selling the solution in the form of a subscription but I wonder who at this point wants that
Sure, they can make an EU5, only after we get Victoria 3 though
Me: hmm I haven't played eu4 in a few years, let me check it out!

If they do what Payday 2 did and make everything free in EU4 then my finances will have suffered.
Pretty sure they said the opposit of this and will continue to make new "content" for eu4

What pisses me off is the fact some people at PDX don't have mental acumen to put majority of these DLC into base game and just leave like couple newest DLC to sell.
So it seems only way to properly enjoy PDX game is to be there at beginning then you can space out your spending and make it reasonable in long run.
yes definitely the game is 8 years old now
even though the idea of playing a new EU game that is barebone is scary
Leviathan felt all over the place that's why I couldn't enjoy it personally
Now that Victoria 3 has been confirmed, we can only start hoping.
EUROPA UNIVERSALIS V
"The king must die so the nation can live."
In my opinion, I feel like that EU4's UI does need a change though as a semi-newish player.
Even Age of Empires is getting new games, we can get a new EU
and on AoE's case, not having dlc don't make your experience worse
Me chilling on "Conquest of Paradise" on low graphics settings be like
We want Victoria 3 now
Maaan I'm a big lover of EU4, if you've ever seen my content you would know I am, considering it's what pays my bills.

You should try to install Arch Linux and record your experience. I think that would make for a great video.
If they do make a EU5, I hope they improve on tall gameplay. I know EU4 is supposed to be a empire building game and I as many other players like map painting, but I feel like there aren't that many other options to play this game other then 3:
1. Empire building on land, with a huge and good military
2. Colonial empire with some expansion on the continent of origin and then just relax and click some buttons
3. Tall gameplay, where you don't own a huge swat of land, but it's still useful
I just wish there was more to do in this game besides that.
This.
Amazing video man I love it
thanks bro 👊😎
Eu4 killed itself by breaking its dev system and making the game no longer the era of European ascendancy, and is now ck3 with guns
It still is, institutions virtually guarantee that the rest of the world will be behind. I fucking hate "concentrate development" though.
@@nobey1kanobey until global trade spawns in China, manufactories in india and the enlightenment in the East Indies. Happens all the time. 1 tech behind isn’t enough for European ascendancy. In nearly all of my games the only places substantially behind are the steppe, new world natives, and the Kongo region
@@marshman4813 Europe still has a higher concentration of dev than any other region in the world and the best trade nodes. This time period wasnt just a period of European ascendancy, it was also the era of the Mughal empire, The Ottoman Empire, and the Manchu invasion of China. I think the happy medium would be to lock most institutions like the enlightenment to spawning in Europe, or European colonial nations, its weird to me that things like that can spawn anywhere.
I actually enjoy the fact that they've given love to other regions of the world, its the main reason I have 4000+ hours in game lmao, remember the free Japan update, 1.24? It was awesome, and made the region so cool when you combined it with Isolationism and the rest of the game. Im curious what solutions you'd propose, since I dont really see whats wrong with them updating the rest of the world.
@@nobey1kanobey I understand that it is also the era of ottomans and Mughals but both of those had long stagnated by around 1700. As for India if everyone is behind tech, Mughals would be fine and the ottomans in reality had a hard time conquering areas like Hungary. I think having more institution and tech penalties for the non Western Europeans, as well as fixing the broken dev system in which I commonly find random 40 dev island nations in Indonesia. I think putting an option to have more historical modes that limit things like that do you can have more fun, while also having a mode that allows for the craziness we know already. I can’t think of a single time I’ve seen Europeans get a foothold in India, and I even see that he Aztecs commonly surviving. I’m not a perfect designer but it’s definitely broken in my opinion
@@nobey1kanobey I also love the additions to all over the world because it creates a very in Seth environment
It always depends on how much you use it. I mean not every DLC is needed (or good) so i said like 130 Dollar over a long span for 1.5 k hours of frustration and fun. I think it's kind of worth it.
That isn't supposed to keep that pile of bad code in a good light. It is bad. Just a thought.
