"Screw research we want views"- common sense media Boss
LMAO I AGREE
I have a tittle. Will the violence in shrek give kids nightmares
Oh no, the world doesn't revolve around kids, the apocalypse is upon us!
If kids don't see violence in games and movies and music videos then they wont know wats out there in the real world and come home crying that someone was mean to them
My mom literally said the exact same thing.
This video is a joke. "violence is definitely affecting our kids" how? provide some evidence. Saying "experts say violence COULD definitely be a risk factor" is NOT evidence.
"kids who experience violence at home are the most likely to behave aggressively" yes because that's REAL violence. not fantasy violence.
This video pretty much provides evidence that violence DOESN'T affect kids because they don't provide any evidence that is DOES.
There has been less large scale violence since video games were invented in 1964. 73% less war related casualties, 31% less armed robbery heck, even murder rates are down! And as far as school shootings go if a child is willing to shoot up his/her school I think that kid was beyond any influence video games or therapy
A Buzzed Whaler Hey look at the that, some ACTUAL evidence. I think we've come to an obvious conclusion here. Fantasy violence doesn't affect kids in a negative way.
yeah
Fantasy violence is bascially violence for kids
Wow what an enlightening video! Can't wait to show my future children how to play Halo and Call of Duty!
tv cartoons video games, music dosen't effect anything because those things dont show you how to shoot a gun or anything. People that killed others and blame videogames are just saying that because they never played it before and its something they dont enjoy. people blame other things thats because there parents FAILED at raising them and treating them right
WHY IS DRAG RACING VIOLENCE?!
Ikr I mean most Racing Games don’t cause violence
@@fonemao5206 Me too they act like they’re on f*****g drugs.
1:37 is bad parenting
Btw do not blame violence on anything
Learn the difference between fantasy and real violence
Not really

This video sums up everything you need to know about this dumb company. What sort of PBS Kids monopoly are they trying to fuel?
I can understand that some violence is over the top, such as that clip from South Park of (what looked like) a celebrity about to shoot herself at 1:37, but sometimes it’s not always the media that’s the problem. Parents need to stop letting children browse unrestricted stuff by themselves, as they could end up finding something inappropriate. Don’t blame all media for all bad stuff. And no, cartoon violence will not cause violent behavior unless there are depictions of guns or bombs. Yeah, Looney Tunes (as shown in the beginning) has lots of dark humor, but it is still cartoon violence in stuff like Tom and Jerry or other classics. Not everything is going to have simple, polite conversations and no violence. Even educational cartoons or shows have a little violence here and there. That’s not a problem. Do more research, Common Nonsense Media.
Hey, we get it! Every family is different.
Common Sense isn't making a judgment on your readiness or your family's choices for the things you choose to watch. It's providing general information to parents who want to know what to expect in their media choices. If we make a suggestion that you don't agree with, or your parents are making the call based on our information, the best ones to talk to are your parents.
Thanks for the reply!
@@CommonSenseMedia This video is nothing but inaccurate garbage.
@@cat_loaf943I have to agree with you.
These videos are the reasons I have autistic meltdowns over movies the media and stupid videos like this make me think if I watch a violent film I’m a bad person and will commit violent acts even though I’m not a violent or even angry person
I have been researching the topic of violent television effects on children & adolescent behavior for a course at my university. The amount of media that children are exposed to is alarming-- your statistic that states that children are exposed to 7 1/2 hours of media a day shocks me! It makes perfect sense that parents be proactive in their children's media exposure due to the number of studies that conclude violent television's negative effects on child development and behavior.
There is a reason for age rating on media, if your kids are watching things above their age range then what do you expect a 7 year old child playing GTA V is obviously going to have an effect, you cant complain about it if you dont follow these guidelines, you are just going to mess up the media for older people. Common sense media constantly say how bad these things are for children but it is not the fault of the media its self its the fault of the parents. You posted top 10 violent games and alternatives, and on the list was Call of duty black ops 2, which is rated m or 18 in Europe, do not list alternatives, just say YOUR KIDS ARE NOT OLD ENOUGH FOR THIS GAME because they are not, and they are not the most violent games either over all your points are flawed and weak consider research or even just "common sense" instead of causing a fear factor for parents around this type of media.
Video games dont cause violence people cause violence
dude, your black ops 2 review was
U ever heard of angry birds star wars? It just has nobody die and keep chaps up. Lightsabers are just sticks that can pop pigs in a milisec. The guns to the same thing
Lol. I'm 13 and I play M and AO video games. Problem? c:
The fact you feel smug about bragging about it is the only problem I see.
+Jenny Brown Lol, I made this comment a year ago and someone happens to come across it. The fact that I triggered you and you replied shows that I have done my job.
good job then
Jenny Brown
Why, thank you
You're welcome. ;)
I have one thing to say to CSM. Kerbal Space Program.
I believe that watching violent movies has a significant impact on kids. They frequently imitate what they see. Kids can easily imitate and embrace violent conduct when they see it. Children lack the necessary perspectives, so they pick up on everything they observe, including violent scenes, and they can imitate those around them.
Then don't let them watch it simple as that
Good video. Different things work for different people. It is important to know about how the mind of a child works and be able to work against any influences that may affect their mindset.
I think it's important to note that while violence in the media does have a negative effect on children, too much exposure to T.V. in general causes all sorts of behavioral problems in children. A lot of different studies have shown that it's all connected. But I think at the appropriate age, playing violent video games or watching violent movies is not going to have a significant impact as long as they are not sitting in front of the T.V. all day.
But I dont get aggressive as a kid
Isn't it great that we can enforce are views and opinions upon our children! Free will tends to contradict your dictatorship of parenting.
I think violence is fine
Not kids for blood/gore and gun fires and swearing/bad words and creepy
sh!t your BO2 review wasn't very detailed, it did not even mention that you can use the in game filter to minimize blood and gore, language and really bad violent scenes. you guys rated the game "not for kids" but your members rated it 12 and over. ???
i am a kid i do not want to kill anyone i am normal and i play call of duty and other m 17+ also johnyamahm i totally agree
if I have child watching violent movie
Oh yes! I want my kid to grow up with very little exposure to media! Oh fuck it how about no exposure to technology at all! That way he won't understand a damn thing when he goes out into the world and he'll have no friends because he doesn't know anything about tech! And also because of his/her limited exposure to technology or media sources, they'll have no technological experience in a work that is dominated by careers that focus on technology! That's how smart, mature adults handle situations!
Also these actors were terrible.
great video! The risk of developing violent behavior changes from exposure to violence in media is increased for those children who have high self-monitoring characteristics or some type of behavioral problem. Children classified in these groups are generally more easily influenced, have signs of impulse behavior, and more likely to imitate a behavior that they are exposed to such as violence.
I played pegi 18 pegi 16 pegi 12 pegi 7 and pegi 3 the most pegi ratng i play is pegi 18 i played it 8 years as a 6 or 7 year old to 14 year old
